Throughout the series, a large number of characters have gone missing. Some have run off of their own accord, others perhaps seized against their will. Some we last saw in great danger while others, well, they're not so easy to categorize. This episode is dedicated to those characters who have been on the pages but don't have known locations, let alone fates. This includes a very wide variety of individuals large and small like Tyrek Lannister, Stonesnake, Tysha, Tanselle, and Benjen Stark. The Harfoots are back baby! And so are we! (Can you tell it's Sam who wrote this description
Per arrivare, però, ci vogliono almeno tre settimane di cammino a cavallo, e Tyrion scopre a sue spese che “the map is not the land”. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
The Night's Watch visit Craster's Keep. Craster provides some information, but one of his pregnant daughter-wives recruits Jon to rescue her from her fate. Jon doesn't think they can help. Simon and Mackelly ponder Gilly's future. Chapter Review: The Night's Watch arrive at Craster's Keep. Lord Commander Jeor Mormont warns all not to interact with Craster's wives. The keep is awful, little more than a midden heap. Jon Snow joins Mormont in the “hall.” The squalid building stinks, and Craster sits in the only chair. Mormont quizzes Craster about Benjen Stark, but he's not been through these parts. The last crows Craster has seen were Waymar Royce and crew. Their host knows why the villages are empty. Mance Rayder has been inviting wildlings to join him. He has intel about the King Beyond the Wall and trades it for a new axe. Outside, Ghost terrorizes a young pregnant girl named Gilly. Jon calls him off. Jon then sets up a tent and makes his own food so that he owes Craster nothing. Later Gilly approaches Jon and ask him to take her when he leaves. If her baby proves to be a boy, Craster will give him to the Others. Jon feels bad, but he cannot help. As the Night's Watch leave for the Frostfangs following the map that Sam created with Craster's help, Jon asks Mormont about Craster's sons. Mormont admits that the Night's Watch know that he gives the sons up to the woods. But they don't have dominion over him. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
The Great Ranging has found a fourth abandoned wildling village under a great weirwood tree. There is no sign of struggle or clue as to their motivations. Mormont sends word to Maester Aemon via one of Sam's ravens and the ranging continues north. Mackelly and Simon try to keep warm. Chapter Review: The wildling village is deserted. Only some charred human bones remain within the mouth of the weirwood tree that shades the entire village. Ser Jeor Mormont wonders why the wildlings burn their dead, but Jon Snow has a pretty good idea. This is the fourth abandoned village they've found. So Mormont pens a message for Maester Aemon. Jon delivers the message to Sam, who is supervising the ravens. He's trying to teach them to talk. Sam is warming to the ranging, as there don't appear to be any wildlings around. That which reassures Sam is troubling to everybody else. Jon and the Old Bear discuss what Benjen Stark would have done had he found the villages deserted, and they conclude that he would have continued on to try to solve the mystery. This gives Jon some hope. Their force will soon be swelled to 300 when they rendezvous with Qhorin Halfhand's men from the Shadow Tower. In the meantime, the trek north continues. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Jon decides his future lies south of the wall. He rides out to join Robb in his fight. He's prevented from his oath-breaking by his friends, who ride after him and drag him back. Jeor Mormont announces that the Night's Watch will march north of the Wall to figure out what's going on, and Jon better jolly-well come along. The boys prepare for winter. Chapter Review: Jon Snow saddles up and, ignoring Sam's pleas, heads south to join his brother Robb Stark. He does have a few doubts about the reception his brother will give him. As Lord of Winterfell, Robb might feel the need to behead Jon for oath-breaking. Grenn, Pyp, Toad, Halder, and Matthar catch up with him and, by being unarmed and unarmored, they shame Jon into returning with them. As he serves Mormont breakfast, he's plotting his next escape. But Mormont reveals that he knows his men, and had set a watch on Jon. He's going nowhere. Mormont uses the dastardly trick of logical argument to convince Jon to stay. Is Jon such a great warrior that he would tip the war in Robb's favor? Has Jon paid any attention to the portents at the Wall, you know, like the dead rising? The realm's real fight is right here, and right here Jon might actually make a difference. The Night's Watch will sortie north of the wall to find Benjen Stark, to gain intel on Mance Rayder (the King Beyond the Wall), and to learn the truth about the Others. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Eddard "Ned" Stark - Former Lord of Winterfell. Executed by King Joffrey Baratheon for treason. Jon Snow - Bastard son of Ned Stark. Recently sworn brother of the Night's Watch. Samwell Tarly - Brother of the Night's Watch. Heavy-set and cowardly. Attendant to Maester Aemon. Friend to Jon Snow. Jeor Mormont - Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Maester Aemon - 100-year-old maester of the Night's Watch. Now revealed to be Aemon Targaryen. Benjen Stark - First Ranger of the Night's Watch. Missing north of the wall. Younger brother of Eddard Stark. Ser Jaremy Rykker - Acting First Ranger, in Benjen Stark's absence. Mance Rayder - leader of the Wildlings, self-styled King-Beyond-The-Wall. Ghost - Jon Snow's direwolf. Castle Black - Headquarters of the Night's Watch at the Wall. Support the podcast. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Jon and a delegation from the Night's Watch find the bodies of Othor and Jafer Flowers near the Godswood. They bring them back to Castle Black for examination, but Othor's story is not quite done yet. Jon and Ghost save Lord Commander Mormont, which is a good job, because Jon had been very naughty. The boys discuss Jon's failings. Chapter Review: Jon, Sam, and the senior members of the Night's Watch find the bodies that Ghost discovered. They are rangers from Benjen Stark's party. Sam goes all CSI: They seem to have been dead a while, but they haven't rotted. Mormont is troubled and wants Maester Aemon to examine them, despite the misgivings of some of the men. When they return to Castle Black, a raven has brought news of Robert's death and Eddard Stark's treason. Ser Alliser mock's Jon as not only a bastard but the bastard-son of a traitor. Jon loses his temper and his liberty. But in the night, Ghost wakes Jon. Something is amiss. They trace the trouble to Mormont's quarters, where Othor is up and about - and up to no good. Jon and Ghost manage to defeat him with fire. Hopefully regaining the Lord Commander's good graces. In this episode, we discuss the feast to welcome the royal family to Winterfell, as seen through Jon's eyes. We also debate whether Ned is blind to the signs and symbols we've all seen so far or seeing them but doing what he needs to do despite them. Plus, we discover who the mysterious Kingslayer is! Chapter Review:Despite being the son of Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Jon Snow finds himself relegated to a table well out of sight of royal eyes at the welcoming feast for the royal family. Jon watches the precession of lords and ladies that include the rest of his family. He gets his first glimpse of the legendary King Robert Baratheon, Demon of the Trident, who turns out to be a disappointment. He is impressed with Ser Jamie Lannister, the twin brother to Queen Cersei. Alongside Jamie in the procession is Jamie's younger brother Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf known as “the imp.” During the feast, Jon's uncle Benjen Stark stop by to see him. Jon asks Benjen to take him back to Castle Black when Benjen returns, so Jon can join the Night's Watch. His uncle suggests he tastes more than 14 years of life before making that decision, as there is no going back. Jon gets upset and storms out of the hall. Outside, he meets Tyrion, who gives him some advice about being different from one's family. Characters, places, and events: King Robert Baratheon - Once a fierce imposing legendary figure. Game of Thrones HBO hit TV series: Season 1 / Episodes 1 - Title: “Winter Is Coming” Podcast Host/Co-host: Ser Jorah Blackbar; Lezzie Stoneheart Summary of Episode: The show begins with three men of the Night’s Watch tracking a group of Wildling Raiders. They come across the campsite, only to find that they have all been killed. As they investigate the carnage, they find that the stories of the White Walkers are much more than just stories. Ser Weymar Royce and Gared never get to tell the tale but Will manages to get away; Or was he allowed to get away. The next scene is when the Night’s Watch deserter, Will, receives the king’s justice from Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark, while his stories of White Walkers are ignored. On their way back to Winterfell, they come across a dead direwolf who has given birth to her pups and they find all the pups are still alive. The pups are returned to Winterfell for the Stark children to raise them as their pets; along with Jon Snow as well. After returning home, Ned learns from his wife Catelyn that his mentor, Jon Arryn, has died in the Westeros's capital of King's Landing and that King Robert is on his way north to offer Ned the position of the King's Hand. Next Scene: Viserys Targaryen plans to sell his sister, Daenerys to Khal Drogo, in return for an army of Dothraki in order to win back his father’s throne. Next Scene: King Robert arrives at Winterfell with his wife, Queen Cersei, and other members of the Lannister family: Her twin brother Jaime, dwarf brother Tyrion, and Cersei's son and heir to the throne, 12-year-old Joffrey along with her other two children. King Robert formally offers Eddard the role of Hand of the King and suggest that his son and Ned’s daughter marry to solidify their alliance. Outside the feast, Jon Snow releases his frustration after not being allowed into the banquet by Catelyn Stark. His uncle Benjen Stark, First Ranger of the Night's Watch, arrives to join the feast, and Jon asks him to take him back to the Wall with him. Here, we meet Tyrion Lannister who tells Jon that he should take the insult and wear it like armor so that no one can hurt him with it. When Jon angrily asks Tyrion what he knows about it, Tyrion replies that "all dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes." Eddard and Catelyn receive a letter in the night from Catelyn's sister, Lady Lysa Arryn, the widow of Jon Arryn. In the letter, Lysa says that Jon Arryn was murdered by the Lannister’s and that they plan to conspire against King Robert. The next morning Eddard and Robert go hunting, leaving the castle largely empty. Bran indulges in some climbing but, while climbing a broken tower, he hears someone moaning. He peers through a window and finds the queen and her brother engaged in a sexual act. Cersei spots him and warns Jaime, who grabs Bran. Jaime looks out the window to make sure nobody else is watching and only sees Summer. He turns to Bran and asks how old he is. When Bran replies "ten," Jaime remarks with a sigh, "The things I do for love." With that, he pushes Bran out of the window.

Neste podcast quinzenal, …

Meredith Geddes and Jeremy Baker from CFOX are joined with Fearless Fred from 102.1 The Edge and Issue Zero as they discuss episode 6 of Game of Thrones Season 7, "Beyond The Wall." At Winterfell, Littlefinger plots to isolate Sansa. Tensions between Arya and Sansa grow following Arya's discovery of the letter Sansa sent as a child begging for Robb's fealty to Joffrey. Sansa discovers Arya's bag of faces she took from Braavos. At Dragonstone, Tyrion counsels Daenerys about her upcoming negotiations with Cersei. Beyond the Wall, Jon leads a raiding party to capture a wight to bring South as evidence of the White Walkers' existence. After successfully capturing one, the group is besieged by the White Walker army. Jon has Gendry return to Eastwatch and send a raven to Daenerys to request her help. Thoros freezes to death overnight. Daenerys arrives and saves the group from the wights, with the help of her dragons. The Night King, leader of the White Walkers, throws an ice spear at Viserion, one of Daenerys' dragons, and kills it. Daenerys flies off, along with the raiding party, but is unable to save Jon. Benjen Stark intervenes and sacrifices himself to allow Jon to escape. When Jon and Daenerys are reunited, Jon pledges himself and the North to Daenerys as Queen. The Night King reanimates Viserion, making the dragon a part of his army.
We shout a hearty "welcome back!" to some long lost characters in this episode with Benjen Stark, Edmure Tully and Walder Frey all making a return. We also discuss Arya's sudden attack of conscience and Mace Tyrell's horsemanship (which is even worse than his speech delivery). Cool Benjen and Who Aaaaariou are the topics of conversation in Matts Bunker Full Of Spoilers at the end of the show, and we also read out some of your feedback including a Gator Update and an offer to spend 7 million US dollars opening a new orphanage. Warning: This podcast contains spoilers for the Game of Thrones episode, “Blood of my Blood.” For a Game of Thrones episode titled “Blood of My Blood,” there was surprisingly little blood. We saw the return of Benjen Stark (aka: Cold Hands), and caught a glimpse of the Mad King’s death. We also witnessed some sneaky political maneuvers by the High Sparrow, who seemingly check-mated the Lannisters and Tyrells. Arya Stark remembers her name – and where she buried her sword, Needle; and we meet Samwell Tarly’s dad, who won’t be winning any “Father of the Year” awards anytime soon. “Oh, and have you met my dragon?” – Daenerys to the Dothraki “Blood Of My Blood” represents a number of turning points for the season – especially for Dany and Bran – as we begin to step into new and uncharted territory for the series. The Game of Thrones podcast crew of Dana, Vanessa and Peter dig deep into the fan theories that turned out to be true, and speculate about where the remainder of Season 6 is heading. However, we all agree that it was yet another great episode this season, and (thankfully) not as traumatic as last week’s. Also Discussed: We’re reminded that Walder Frey is still alive and needs to be killed, violently Edmure is also alive and being used as a pawn…but to what end? Jaime and Brienne are headed to the Riverlands – and Vanessa is positively giddy over the prospect of Lady Stoneheart’s possible arrival onto the show Sam grows a pair and steals a Valyrian steel blade from his prick of a father Arya is seemingly out of that spooky death cult and is, hopefully, going to make her way back to Westeros with her list of names and trusty Needle in hand Thanks for tuning in, and be sure to send your comments, questions or fan theories to dana (at) stimulated boredom (dot) com, and we will respond to your email on the next show!
Wrap up warm kids, because Winter is truly coming. Matt and Dave embark on their journey through George RR Martin's A Game of Thrones. We get drunk with John Snow, cower in fear of cookie monster zombies and take an immediate dislike to an annoying little prince called Joffrey. If you're reading along with us, this cast covers the book from the prologue to page 81, which is the end of one of Bran's chapters. Read up to there but go no further! And remember, a party's not a party until Benjen Stark shows up with a bong. If you've any comments on the book or the cast, get them in to the usual place: sharkliveroilpodcast@gmail.com or @sharkliveroil on twitter.
