In the Narrow Sea, Theon Greyjoy attempts to rescue his sister Yara, who is held captive by his uncle Euron.  Tyrion and Sansa see each other again for the first time since Joffrey's wedding and assassination. In King's Landing, Qyburn hires Bronn to assassinate Jaime and Tyrion Lannister should either survive the war. Finally, she tries to take Taena roughly, as Robert once did with Cersei, but she can't get into it. Simon and Mackelly shudder at Falyse's fate.Chapter Review:Queen Cersei Lannister sits in the shadow of the Iron Throne, as Queen Margaery Tyrell implores Cersei to take immediate action against the Iron Born, who have taken the Shield Islands. She suggests the Tyrells deal with their own issue with what resources they have available. When Dragonstone falls, the Redwyne fleet can then sail home and defend the Reach. In questo episodio vediamo un Tyrion scocciato; non è contento di essere stato mandato al posto del re o di suo padre a presenziare come rappresentante della corona al comitato d'accoglienza per la delegazione di Dorne che doveva arrivare per il matrimonio di Joffrey e Margaery. Insieme a lui una misera accozzaglia di nobili, quei pochi rimasti a corte fedeli ai Lannister che non fossero Tyrell. Con Bronn e Podrick, Tyrion aspetta i dorniani nel versante sud delle Rapide Nere, tra cenere e tronchi neri, ricordo di una battaglia ancora viva nella sua memoria. La discreta vicinanza della delegazione di Dorne permette a Tyrion, Bronn e Podrick di contare e identificare uno ad uno tutti gli stendardi dorniani rappresentanti le casate presenti con i Martell, gli unici che veramente interessano ai Lannister. Manwoody, Dalt, Uller… sono nove le casate presenti insieme al sole Martell. L'unica cosa che manca è la lettiga di Doran, il mezzo preferenziale del Principe di Dorne. Se non c'è, chi è venuto al suo posto per prendersi il seggio nel Concilio Ristretto? Una figura alta, slanciata e nera si staglia all'orizzonte e Tyrion non può far altro che stringere i denti e sperare che anche un solo sguardo non scateni una guerra. È il Principe Oberyn Nymeros Martell, il fratello minore di Doran, una leggenda a cavallo, la Vipera Rossa. Tyrion si rende subito conto che il confronto tra i due gruppi rappresentanti non regge e che i Lannister forse non hanno messo in conto tutti i possibili pericoli in cui potrebbero incorrere. Per quanto seccato e sul filo del rasoio, Tyrion comunque riesce nell'intento di “fare una buona impressione”, se così si può dire, dato il grande svantaggio in cui era stato messo già da suo padre e suo nipote. È Oberyn quello che costruisce effettivamente un dialogo con Tyrion, raccontandogli delle storie molto interessanti, sia per Tyrion che per noi lettori e mettendo subito in chiaro il motivo della sua visita: giustizia per Elia e i suoi figli. Saranno i Lannister in grado di dargliela? Sarà Tyrion in grado di gestire la delicata situazione che gli si para davanti? La risposta la darà solo il futuro, al momento l'unica cosa che conta è accompagnare il principe in città tentando di ristabilire gli equilibri di potere. She squashes tiny rebellions by her little king, cheers the death of a foe, plots the downfall of Margaery Tyrell and Bronn, spurns the Iron Bank, and so much more. Simon and Mackelly hope she knows what she's doing.Chapter Review:Little King Tommen Baratheon wants to be more involved, he is king after all. Queen Cersei Lannister isn't having it. It's her turn to shine, and Margaery Tyrell's ideas in her son's head aren't going to stop her. Cersei has a long day filled with meetings. While meeting with the merchant's guild, Grand Maester Pycelle interrupts to bring news that Lord Wyman Manderly has beheaded the Onion Knight. Cersei is thrilled and promises to return Wyman's heir. She also meets with an envoy from the Iron Bank. They want their payments but Cersei doesn't budge. Afterward, she talks with Ser Osmund Kettleblack about his brother Osney's attempts at bedding Margaery. They've been stalled by the constant presence of others around the younger queen. Cersei assures that she'll provide the opportunity for him to make his move. She then squashes the merriment around Tommen's jousting success.Bath time provides no relief when Jaime and Tommen burst in. Tommen wants to train under Loras Tyrell and Cersei shoots it down. Jaime thinks she's either drunk or stupid. When he leaves she decides she must be rid of him soon. She dines with Falyse and Balman Byrch. She masterfully plays the worried mother and convinces Balman to kill Bronn before he helps Tyrion kill Tommen. After dinner she reminisces over her love for Rhaegar Targaryen and the hurt of being spurned as his betrothed. She never forgave Robert for killing him because lions don't forgive easily. We pick up where we left off with Jorah Mormont stealing a boat to navigate with his captive, Tyrion. Aboard a merchant ship, Jaime and Bronn sail to Dorne to rescue Myrcella and getting betrayed and caught up while doing so. Cersei has the Iron Bank on her ass and they want 10% of what's owed to them...and she ain't got it. She sends Mace Tyrell to go talk to them as well as getting him out of the way.  Cersei also plots with the High Sparrow to try and manipulate the faith to do her dirty work. The faith attacks the bars and brothels and takes Loras as captive for being gay. We also see Ellaria and the sandsnakes decide to do what Oberyn's brother won't do...avenge his death against the Lannisters. The Red Priestess tried to throw that hotbox on Jon and he refuses. Mackelly and Simon weigh the scales of justice.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister languishes for days in a Red Keep tower cell. He's well-treated and fed as befits his station, but the crime of which he's accused holds only one possible punishment. He's getting advice and daily visits from his uncle Kevan, but neither of them is very optimistic of his chances. Cersei is amassing a deluge of witnesses to testify against him. Tyrion pins his hopes on trial by combat, but knowing that the opponent will be Gregor Clegane, Bronn demurs. The trial, before a three-judge panel of Tywin, Mace Tyrell, and Oberyn Martell, goes very badly for Tyrion. The witnesses either exaggerate, downright lie, or in the case of Varys: accurately report Tyrion's various threats and comments on the dead king. Kevan advises confession and the Night's Watch, but Tyrion doesn't trust his father's mercy.On the final night of the trial, Tyrion is visited in his cell by Oberyn. He's not necessarily there to reassure Tyrion, but knowing that he's doomed he's hoping to get the truth about his sister's death. Tyrion confirms some suspicions: while it was the now dead Lorch who dispatched Princess Rhaenys, it was The Mountain who raped and murdered Elia and killed baby Aegon. But Tyrion denies that Tywin ordered the deaths. Oberyn throws Tyrion a lifeline. Tyrion has a busy day. He surveys post-battle repair needs, meets with Symon Silver Tongue, inspects two new family heirlooms, is told by his father to do the impossible, gets marital advice from his father, and participates in a discussion regarding the Night's Watch. None of it is going to make his life any easier. Simon and Mackelly pour him a tall cup of Arbor Gold.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister surveys the damages done during the battle. The repair costs will well exceed what the crown has in its coffers. Before returning to the Red Keep, he and Bronn make a detour to visit the singer Symon Silver Tongue, in a run-down wine sink. Tyrion offers to pay the man to take his act on a tour of Essos. However, Symon instead tells Tyrion that if Tyrion can't get him a spot in the singing competition at the royal wedding, he'll sing a song about Tyrion's affair with Shea for all to hear. Afterward, Tyrion tells Bronn to make sure Symon's body is never found.Next, Tyrion learns he's been summoned by his father. Tywin Lannister shows Tyrion two new Valyrian steel swords he's commissioned. One is for Joff and the other for Jamie. Next order of business is the city repairs. Tyrion reports what he's found and that there's not enough coin to pay for the repairs. Tywin tells him he'll find the coin or Tywin will find someone who can. The topic then turns toward Tyrion's marriage to Sansa Stark. Tywin wants it consummated immediately. Tyrion asks about his father's betrothal plans for Cersei and Willas Tyrell. Tywin informs him that Mace Tyrell rejected the notion.As Tywin begins to mention replacement suitors, Grand Maester Pycelle arrives. He's gotten a letter from Castle Black asking for more men. Tywin couldn't care less about the Night's Watch's woes. However, he does see an opportunity to put a Lannister loyalist in charge of the Black Brothers. He wants Pycelle to respond that the crown can't help at the moment but King Joffrey sends his best wishes to his faithful friend Lord Janos Slynt.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Tyrion Lannister - Youngest son of Tywin Lannister. So far through the first four episodes Cat and Ned have truly shown us how they both are dumb AF. They truly had no business leaving the North....them slow country folk should not have been in the big city. And episodes 5 and 6 are truly no different. Once again we see more mistakes made by Ned, ESPECIALLY in his interaction with Jamie in front of the brothel as well as his talks with King Robert....Ned really isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Now, I do give Cat credit for taking Tyrion to the Eyrie instead of Winterfell, but that's about it. Speaking of the Eyrie, we got to met Cats weird ass sister and her weird ass son. And we also got to see what Bronn is about. I know Tyrion appreciated him. Back in King's Landing, Robert is having his hands full trying to run his shit, but he is having his hands full with the Starks and the Lannisters beefing real heavy. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. He coordinates a rendezvous with Shea, where he plans to break it off with her. Instead, he reaffirms that he'll keep and protect her. Simon and Mackelly slowly shake their heads.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister makes an unannounced visit to Lord Varys' chambers in the Red Keep. When Varys arrives, he apologizes to Tyrion for not visiting him in his sick bed. His nose was just too gross to look at. Varys informs Tyrion that Grand Maester Pycelle has been reinstated to the small council, by order of his father Tywin. Tywin's work doesn't stop their. He's also reinstated Ser Boros Blount to the Royal Kingsguard.The conversation turns to Ser Mandon Moore, but despite Tyrion's hope's, Varys provides no additional information about the man than what Tyrion already knows. Varys informs Tyrion that a great deal of people are actively spying on him for Cersei and that Varys himself has been tasked with spying on Tyrion for his lord father.Tyrion changes the subject. He wants Varys to plan a meet-up between Tyrion and Shae. The agreed upon location is determined to be these very chambers. Later that night, Shae and Tyrion get down to business. Afterward, he tries to break it off with Shae, explaining that it's now too dangerous for her with his father in town. She refuses to discuss it, and redirects the conversation to the royal wedding. She's gotten news of the amazing festivities planned, from the singer Symon Silver Tongue. She wants to go. Tyrion puts his foot down. Too dangerous. She relents, but asks that he keep her and keep her from harm. Against his better judgment, he agrees. Tyrion gets a visit from newly-knighted Ser Bronn. Bronn lacks bedside manner and takes Tyrion step-by-step through how Tyrion has lost everything he's built while in King's Landing. Tyrion then has an equally unpleasant conversation with his father, where Tywin holds nothing back about why Tyrion will never be lord of Casterly Rock. Simon and Mackelly find something interesting to stare at on the floor.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister is recovering from his wounds suffered at the hand of Ser Mandon Moore of the Royal Kingsguard, during the Battle of the Blackwater. His top sellsword aide Bronn pays him a visit. He's now Ser Bronn of the Blackwater, having been knighted by command of Tywin Lannister. The move irks Tyrion, but the bad news is only beginning. He also learns he's officially been replaced as Hand of the King by his father, his trusted Commander of the City Watch Jacelyn Bywater is dead, his mountain clans won't be returning to the city, Alayaya was released but not before being whipped, and he's lost his control over Tommen in Rosby.Tyrion decides it's time to get out of bed and pay a visit to his father. He finds him in Tyrion's old chambers in the Tower of the Hand, now occupied by his father. Tywin is busy writing important letters but puts them aside to talk with his youngest son. He tells Tyrion that he's sent men to trap and eliminate a Stark force headed for Duskendale.The men disagree over Tyrion's level of involvement in saving the city. Tywin puts much of it on himself, the Tyrells, and Cersei. Although, he does give Tyrion some credit, and asks what he wants as his reward. Tyrion cuts to the chase. He wants his father to publicly name him heir to Casterly Rock. Tywin's not having it. He's tired of the prostitutes Tyrion continually associates with and he won't have him bringing them into Casterly Rock. Tyrion recovers from the wounds he sustained in the Battle of the Blackwater. He's horribly disfigured and having wild fever dreams. Mackelly and Simon sniff the boiled wine.Chapter Review:Tyrion dreams of death and carrion. He is in a dungeon with other dying men. In his dream, he is mouthless and the city gates are barred to him. He lies in his own filth and seems to have no help or hope.He wakes briefly in the Tower of the Hand in his own bed. What is dream and reality become blurred. He is visited by Cersei, Tywin, Littlefinger, and Varys. He dreams of feasts in his honor, where songs are sung of his bravery and he is knighted by his brother Jamie. He wakes again, but a maester forces him to drink milk of the poppy, and sleep claims him once more. Now he dreams of his happy honeymoon with Tysha, how loving and sweet those times seem to him. The next time he wakes he refuses more drugs. Tyrion demands to see his wounds. Maester Ballabar advises otherwise, but Tyrion insists. His bandages are removed to reveal a terrible scar across his face, involving the loss of most of his nose. He also learns that he's in Maegor's Holdfast so that Cersei can personally oversee his care. He's lost his position as his father has taken the role of Hand of the King, having saved the city. Pod updates him that Bronn is now Ser Bronn, and he confirms that Ser Mandon Moore is dead.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Tyrion Lannister - Youngest son of Tywin Lannister. Tyrion sees two new Kingsguard appointed and oversees preparations for Stannis' arrival. The pyromancers have more than delivered on their wildfire promise. And Varys has foiled a plot to open the gates to Stannis. Mackelly and Simon dip a finger in the boiling oil. Chapter Review:Tyrion sends Shagga and the other mountain clansmen to the Kingswood to harry and delay Stannis' army as it finally makes its way to King's Landing. Tyrion and Bronn review the defenses on the river-side of the city and decree that the homes and shanties that lean against the outside of the wall, need to be removed (with minimal human misery if possible) before the invaders use them to scale the walls. Tyrion has learned that Winterfell has fallen to the Greyjoys and while celebrating the Starks' misfortune, he cannot help but feel that there is something not right about it. He ponders this while seeing Balon Swann and Osmund Kettleblack sworn in as the latest members of the Kingsguard. They replace the late Preston Greenfield and the disgraced Boros Blount, who capitulated too willingly when Tyrion's men forcibly wrested Prince Tommen from his care.Tyrion meets with Hallyne of the pyromancers who is miles ahead of schedule on the production of wildfire. Tyrion is skeptical, but Hallyne explains that their spells are working like they used to in the time of dragons. Tyrion faces complaints from ships' captains who've had their ships impounded in defense of the capital. He meets with Varys who has unearthed a plot to open the gates to Stannis' army. Not from the starving hordes, but from middle-class King's Landians who'd rather see the back of the Lannisters. Myrcella sets sail for Dorne, via Braavos. Riding back through the city a riot breaks out. Lives are lost, but thanks to the Hound not Sansa Stark's. Jacelyn Bywater informs Tyrion that the smallfolk consider Tyrion the root of all their problems. With Bronn and Varys, Tyrion begins to consider replacing Joffrey with Tommen. Simon and Mackelly weigh the options. Chapter Review: Myrcella Baratheon is shipping off to Dorne where, when older, she will marry Trystane Martell. She's going a circuitous route, which will significantly reduce King's Landing's already insufficient naval force, but Cersei wants her daughter safe. Ser Arys Oakheart of the Kingsguard will travel with her as her personal bodyguard. Her arrival in Braavos is the signal for the Martells to move into the passes that border the Stormlands with the intent of holding some of Stannis' forces from the envisioned assault on King's Landing. The royal party heads back through the streets, lined with hangry citizens. The king is struck in the face with excrement, and rather than hastening a retreat to the Red Keep, he stops to set his Hound on those he perceives to blame. A riot ensues. Several in the party lose their lives including the High Septon. But Sansa Stark, briefly lost, is saved by Sandor Clegane. Hours later, the gold cloaks have regained control of the city, but Bywater warns Tyrion that the situation worsens daily. The smallfolk believe their suffering began when Tyrion was named Hand of the King. Tyrion is hurt by the insinuation. Bronn notes that Tommen is a much nicer kid than Joffrey and Westeros would be so much nicer of a place if the younger brother was to somehow become the King. Tyrion tours the wildfire production lines in the Guildhall of the Alchemists. He welcomes Cleos Frey to King's Landing and reads Robb Stark's demands. He meets with Cersei who is furious that Tyrion plans to sell off Myrcella to Dorne in return for their cooperation in the war. Simon and Mackelly weigh the strategies. Chapter Review: Tyrion Lannister meets with the pyromancer Hallyne in the Guildhall of the Alchemists. They have 7,000 pots of wildfire ready to be used in the defense of King's Landing. Tyrion is very uneasy - this substance burns on water and does unspeakable damage to all that it touches. He asks for some empty pots to be used in training the defenders. Bronn informs Tyrion of two urgent summons. The Hand decides to visit Jacelyn Bywater first. Tyrion's cousin Cleos Frey has arrived from his captivity in Riverrun. Robb Stark's demands are unacceptable, but Tyrion is pleased that he can stretch out the negotiations. He forbids anyone from Cleos' crew from entering King's Landing. He doesn't want word of the starvation to reach the King in the North. En route to his second urgent visit (with Cersei) he hears a preacher decrying the royals and the church. He's a bit offended by being referred to as a “demon monkey.”His sister Cersei is furious to have been kept waiting and incandescent that Tyrion should try to ship Myrcella to Dorne without consulting her. He tries to placate and feels like he's made progress. Compelling amongst his arguments is that the princess may well be considerably safer in Sunspear than she is in the capital. Tyrion meets with Pycelle, Littlefinger, and Varys, feeding each a different story, hoping to learn which story reaches Cersei's ears. Allister Thorne has arrived, hunger is getting out of hand in King's Landing, and Cersei wants Jamie freed and her father's army to come defend her. A Hand's job is never done! Mackelly and Simon try to prioritize.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister breaks his fast with Grand Maester Pycelle. He dispatches a raven to Doran Martell in Dorne but Tyrion won't be drawn on the letter's content. Tyrion steals a bottle from Pycelle's potion shelves, while the maester isn't looking.Tyrion and Bronn discuss today's supplicants: Tanda Stokeworth with offers of food and her plump unwed daughter, Ser Alliser Thorne newly arrived from the Wall with a hand for the Hand - Tyrion doesn't like Thorne so has him consigned to a dingy cell without meeting with him. A representative of the Bank of Braavos who'd like to discuss repayment by the crown of some loan, sounds like a job for Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish. A discontent Riverlands lordling and local merchants all get fobbed off.Tyrion meets with Baelish and proposes marrying princess Myrcella to young Robert Arynn. If Baelish can broker that and bring the Vale's forces out to oppose Renly and Stannis, the glittering prize of Harrnehal will be his. Petyr is wary, but unable to refuse.Next is Varys, who already knows about the prior meetings, and apparently the contents of the letter: Tommen to be a ward of the Martells. Tyrion does not deny. The Small Council discusses an appropriate response to Stannis' widely publicized accusation of Cersei's children being Jamie's. Later Tyrion employs all the blacksmiths in King's Landing to make him a monstrous chain. Later still, Tyrion publicly enters a brothel before sneaking out through a secret door to visit Shae in private. Mackelly and Simon debate the levels of cunning on display. Chapter Review:Stannis Baratheon has been sending word of Cersei and Jamie Lannister's incest to every house, great and small, in the realm. The Small Council discusses a response. Cersei wants to quash it completely, in particular so that neither her father nor her children ever hear of it. Wiser heads point out that trying to silence such a rumor tends to indicate a guilty conscience. Littlefinger comes up with the winning idea. They will circulate their own salacious accusation against Stannis: that his daughter Shireen is in fact the child of Patchface the fool. Tyrion Lannister and Bronn meet with the armorers and smiths of King's Landing and commission an almighty chain. Some are worried about their prior commission (from Cersei) to equip the Gold Cloaks, but Tyrion assures them that his project takes priority and he'll protect them from the Queen. Tyrion visit's Chataya's brothel. He makes no attempt to hide. But once inside he exits through a secret tunnel, built by a former Hand of the King, and meets Lord Varys in a stable. There he's disguised as a child on horseback and rides across King's Landing to visit Shae.
