Rickon would put Barry Bonds in the Hall Of Fame. GDL continues coverage of Severance Season 1, and the questions are beginning to mount.
The You You Are is enough for us (and Rickon). GDL tackles the third episode of the first season of Apple TV's Severance, with a little fantasy football mixed in.
“We should start back” sono le primissime parole de “Le Cronache del Ghiaccio e del Fuoco” di George R.R. Martin e noi abbiamo pensato di fare esattamente così. In questo episodio Tyrion e Cersei cenano insieme. All'apparenza sembra tutto normale, tutto tranquillo. Spooky season may be over and the Silent Hill/Dead by Daylight fog has finally lifted, but now there's a big office building with a bunch of goats, awkward people, and cards with instructions on how to fight people, it's like the world's strangest petting zoo... Or the boys are just talking about Severance—yeah that's probably it.Do you know where the show was filmed, or that the street address is a reference to a major real-world company? How much was written for Rickon's lackluster self-help book? Why does the eerie Main Titles theme strike such a chord with you—pun intended. And what even happened in this show? Oh yeah, there are theories in this one, a show like this doesn't have an episode without a whole lot of theorizing; so please, wear your tinfoil hats as you determine which numbers look friendly and which look scary.

Arya sits in as the Freys express concern about King Robb's chances of success, now that House Tyrell has joined with House Lannister. She unknowingly learns her impending wedding is off. And she escapes Harrenhal for Riverrun with Gendry and Hot Pie. Simon and Mackelly saddle up for the ride.Chapter Review:Arya Stark blends into the background of Lord Roose Bolton's chambers, while a large group of Frey men suggest that King Robb has lost the war and must kneel to the Lannister. Roose points out that King Robb has won every battle he's entered into against the Lannisters. The Freys remind him that Tywin Lannister's army has expanded greatly since their alliance with House Tyrell. She then receives the devastating news that Winterfell has been taken and Bran and Rickon killed. When the Freys leave, Roose dictates a letter to Helman Tallhart, who has taken Castle Darry. He wants Tallhart to put Darry to the torch and then march on Duskendale, alongside Robett Glover. Arya's tasked with cleaning Roose's chambers, while he leaves for a wolf hunt. During her chores, she finds a map showing Riverrun's location compared to Harrenhal. It's not too far away. After a trip to the godswood, Arya returns to serve Roose his dinner and wine. He tells her that she will stay in Harrenhal when he leaves and serve Vargo Hoat. Arya then makes her way back to the godswood. However, on her way she comes across Elmar Frey. Theon's nightly nightmares often revolve around his lies, deceits, and the atrocities he's committed. His sister Asha shoots him straight about his dire situation in Winterfell. He refuses to heed her advice and puts his last bit of hope on the shoulders of Reek. Simon and Mackelly raise their eyebrows in skepticism. Chapter Review:Theon Greyjoy wakes from another bad dream to learn that his sister Asha has finally arrived in Winterfell. On his way to the Winterfell Great Hall to see her, he's surrounded by bodyguards. Theon knows it's Reek who has committed the murders, to keep the secret of what happened at the mill from getting out. However, Theon uses the kennel master Farlen as a scapegoat for the crimes, and beheads him.Asha has brought Theon reinforcements to help hold Winterfell. Unfortunately, she's brought him a mere 10 men. Theon says it's not enough, Ser Rodrik Cassel is riding toward the castle with an army. Asha points out that's something he should've thought about before taking Winterfell. She asks him to give up on the castle and come with her back to Deepwood Motte. He refuses, so she leaves. Theon gives Reek silver to buy men to help hold the castle. He then second-guesses why he didn't do the smart thing and leave with his sister. If the Imp bet, it was on Jamie and he lost, so he never won the dagger. In return, Cat reveals the state of the war - Robb winning more and more castles in the Westerlands.Jamie then tells the story of Brandon and Rickard Stark's death, painting a terrible picture of Aerys and the other Kingsguard. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
The sea has come to Winterfell. Bran is forced to cede the seat of House Stark to Theon Greyjoy. Mikken the smith is killed and Hodor beaten. Meanwhile, Theon assures all that they'll be treated kindly as long as they follow orders. Simon and Mackelly smell something fishy. Chapter Review: Bran has an extended wolf-dream in which Summer tries to escape the walled godswood. The wolf has no inclination to climb, but his Bran-half leads him up a tree. Summer slips and falls. On impact, Bran awakens to a pain in his shoulder. He hopes Summer is OK. A stranger enters Bran's room followed by Theon Greyjoy. Theon tells Bran to come down and inform the citizens of their new ruler. Bran, Rickon, Maester Luwin, the Walders, and the Reeds, are brought to the main hall. The 30 or so Iron Islanders have gathered the other citizens of Winterfell. Hayhead has a nasty wound, Alebelly has been killed, and Palla (who played with Bran and the Walders in the godswood) has been raped. Theon demands obedience, but Mikken the smith is having none of it. He spits vitriol at Theon until a spear is thrust through his neck and he drowns on his own blood. Fulfilling more of Jojen Reed's prophetic dream. Hodor wails in dismay at Mikken's death and is beaten by Theon's men. All the while Theon claims that the people will find him a fair and gentle lord. The prisoner Reek and Osha both pledge fealty to Theon and are given their freedom. Bran sees the second of these as quite the betrayal, although less than Theon's. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Brandon (Bran) Stark - Middle son of Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn (Cat) Stark. He was pushed from a tower by Jamie Lannister and lost the use of his legs. Maester Luwin - Maester in the service of house Stark at Winterfell. Rickon Stark - Youngest son of Ned and Cat Stark. Hodor - Huge but simple man who carries Bran Stark wherever he wishes to go. Big Walder Frey - Grandson of Lord Walder Frey. Ward of Winterfell. Little Walder Frey - Grandson of Lord Walder Frey. Ward of Winterfell. Osha - Wildling captured by the Starks now held as servant/prisoner in Winterfell. Theon Greyjoy - Heir to the Iron Islands. Former ward of Winterfell. Mikken - Smith of Winterfell. Ser Rodrik Cassel - Master-at-arms and castellan of Winterfell. Reek - Accomplice to Bolton's bastard son Ramsay. Captured by Rodrik Cassel and held at Winterfell. On tonight's episode of Talkin' Thrones, we cover the Season 2 finale, entitled "Valar Morghulis," the ancient Valyrian phrase that translates to "All Men must Die." It's a jam packed finale for a jam packed season, and it pulls off the rare ability of having a ton of stuff happening, wrapping up all the current storylines in a satisfying way, and setting us up for what's to come in the following seasons. Season 1 may have introduced us to this world and these characters, but Season 2 sets the stakes for what's to come, because as Melisandre so eloquently puts it, this war is just beginning. First, we catch up with the aftermath of the battle of Blackwater. The Lannisters have won the day, with Tywin assuming his rightful place as hand of the king, and Joffrey solidifying his alliance by agreeing to marry Margaery Tyrell, but it's the beginning of the end for Tyrion, who finds himself scarred, alone and without allies. Varys is also making moves as Littlefinger is getting a little too much power for his liking, while Littlefinger makes a promise to Sansa. Then we briefly catch up with all the other ancillary storylines, as Brienne shows Jaime just who she is and what she's capable of, Arya receives a cryptic invitation to Braavos from Jaquen, Stannis begins to understand just what he's gotten himself involved in, while Robb solidifies his path to the Red Wedding by marrying Talisa. Theon finally suffers the consequences of his actions, while Bran & Rickon are forced to go on the run. Daenerys FINALLY leaves Quarth, even if it results in the dumbest Deus ex Machina imaginable, and Jon makes his move by infiltrating the Wildlings to sabotage them before they reach the Wall, finally comprehending just what the Night's Watch is up against. Speaking of which, back at their encampment, Sam is in for a surprise when a horde of White Walkers marches on the Fist of the First Men. It was a jam packed season, that's setting up for 6 more seasons worth of material. While not all of it works, it's always Thrones, which is why we're here for it. It's all happening here, only on the #talkintvpodcast --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support
On tonight's episode of Talkin' Thrones, we discuss the 17th episode of this show, an episode that provides a lot of insight into all of the characters that we've been following over the course of the series so far, Season 2, Episode 7 entitled A Man without Honor. We have two primary men in question here that have lost their honor: Theon Greyjoy & Jaime Lannister. Theon is continuing to prove that he sucks at everything after he realizes that Bran & Rickon have escaped, pursues them, and then has two farm boys killed in their place to make it look like he's killed them. Jaime on the other hand, proves to be much to cunning for his own good, killing his own cousin in order to escape while Robb is away from the camp with Talisa, a move that puts Catelyn in an impossible position, as she needs Jaime alive because of the tactical advantage he provides, however the northerners who are slowly losing faith in Robb, are out for blood. This goes for the rest of the storylines as well, as Jon's entire worldview is thrown out of wack by the wildling Ygritte, Arya and Tywin discuss legacy and children, Sansa has quite an unexpected surprise while Tyrion & Cersei discuss Joffrey and Daenerys witnesses one of the most unsurprising twists in all of television history as the warlocks pull off some spoooooooky magic. It's an episode with a lot of great conversations, a lot of great writing, and it's all covered here on the #talkintvpodcast #gameofthrones #gameofthronesseason2 #season2 #amanwithouthonor #season2episode7 #season2recap #gameofthronesrecap #georgerrmartin #davidbenioff #dbweiss --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/talkintvpodcastgmailcom/support

In today's episodes of A Storm of Swords, there are no less than three mystery characters to figure out in Arya's chapter - the angry Huntsman with a tragic backstory, the busty innkeep with a too-familiar name, and a newly-captured someone who may be on Arya's list of names. Jess is completely caught off guard when Raven points out another mention of the word "tansy," and we are forced to rethink our previous theory. Gendry is acting different, Raven forgets of Rickon's existence, and we learn how the height of the Wall compares to the tallest building in the world. We also learn the wildlings may have been the ones who awakened the White Walkers! Jess attends a Game of Thrones exhibit and gets a new car, and we discuss our province's new Covid restrictions. Season 3 takes one last look at the past before heading into the future. This is perhaps the last episode of the season that's exclusively concerned with the administrative duties of early-season outings. We check in with almost everybody on the map, excluding maybe Bran and Rickon. Hot Pie says goodbye (at least for now), Jon Snow is told that he must climb the Wall, there's a huge turning point for Jaime, and we even get a brief visit from the lead singer of Snow Patrol. Mackelly and Simon consider what Robb's next move should be. Chapter Review: Robb reads his demands of Cersei to her cousin Cleos Frey. He's to take them to her and return with her reply. They include the return of all prisoners, delivery of 10 highborn Lannisters as hostages, concession that the North and the Riverlands are now their own kingdom. Later with her uncle Brynden, Cat learns that the Lannisters are building a new army in the West, which threatens to trap Robb in a pincer. They decide that the best way forward is to lure Tywin out of Harrenhal, but he's no Edmure. The only way to make that happen would be to create a new threat that he couldn't ignore. The tumbleweed drifts through Qarth this week as 'The Prince of Winterfell' takes (what Gandalf would call) "the deep breath before the plunge". Jaime and Brienne are sent off on their journey to King's Landing; Jon Snow is introduced to the Lord of Bones beyond the Wall, while Sam and company find some dragonglass; Theon might not have killed Bran & Rickon after all; and Arya, Gendry, and Hot Pie finally escape Harrenhal after a terrible few weeks there. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Bran is seeking to understand the meaning of both the comet and the incessant howling of the direwolves. There are lots of opinions. He's increasingly in sync with his direwolf. When he dreams, he doesn't just dream of being a wolf, he sees through Summer's eyes. Mackelly and Simon ponder the implications. Chapter Review: Nobody can sleep because Shaggydog and Summer howl all night. The direwolves are confined to the Godswood, and aren't happy about it. The Winterfell cast all have an opinion as to why the wolves are howling, none of which are much use. Similarly the chorus all have a theory about the comet - but again, it's just hot air (well apart from Old Nan who is unerringly accurate: “Dragons!”, but nobody believes her). The two Walder Freys have arrived (fostered as part of the Twins-crossing deal with their grandfather Walder). They are rambunctious and fun. One of their games led to Rickon getting knocked down, and Shaggydog bit a Walder. This incident had two effects: the wolves were banished to the Godswood, and Rickon became firm friends with the Walders. Bran's given a sleeping draught to get him through the night, but still dreams he's Summer. He prowls the walls of the Godswood, looking for a way out. Bran feels, but doesn't fully understand, the urgent desire to get out. Something compels the direwolves to be free. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Brandon (Bran) Stark - Middle son of Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn (Cat) Stark. He was pushed from a tower by Jamie Lannister and lost the use of his legs. Rickon Stark - Youngest son of Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn (Cat) Stark. At Winterfell. Summer - The direwolf of Bran Stark. Shaggydog - The direwolf of Rickon Stark. Maester Luwin - A maester in the service of house Stark at Winterfell. Hodor - A huge but simple man who carries Bran Stark wherever he wishes to go. Big Walder Frey - Grandson of Lord Walder Frey. Ward of Winterfell. Little Walder Frey - Grandson of Lord Walder Frey. Ward of Winterfell. Osha - Wildling captured by the Starks, now held as servant/prisoner in Winterfell. Ser Rodrik Cassel - Master-at-arms of Winterfell. Aging knight who accompanied Cat on her journey to King's Landing. Mikken - Blacksmith at Winterfell. Septon Chayle - Septon of Winterfell. Gage - Cook at Winterfell. Farlan - Kennel Master of Winterfell. Bran and Rickon both dream that their father visits them in the crypts. Maester Luwin tries to reassure them that dreams are just dreams. Osha is not so sure, especially when a raven arrives with news from King's Landing. Simon and Mac examine the dark words. Chapter Review: Bran Stark and maester Luwin watch the remnants of the north being trained by Ser Rodrick Cassel. They don't look great. Bran wants to visit the crypts, but Hodor won't go down there. He explains to Luwin that last night he dreamt he talked to his father down there. They agree to visit, with Osha taking the Hodor role. Bran talks Osha through the family history as they walk past his ancestors, she's a little bit impressed. When they reach Ned's waiting tomb, they are attacked by Shaggydog. Luwin receives a nasty cut, and both Summer and Shaggy are bloodied by the time Rickon calls off the fight. He too has dreamt of his father in the crypts. They return to Luwin's tower to patch him up and continue the lessons in history and dreams versus reality. Suddenly the wolves howl as a battered looking raven lands on the ledge. Without reading it, Osha and the boys know exactly what news the dark wings bring. Characters/Places/Names/Events:Eddard "Ned" Stark - The now deceased former Hand of the King, Lord of Winterfell, and close friend to King Robert. Brandon (Bran) Stark - Middle son of Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn (Cat) Stark. He was pushed from a tower by Jamie Lannister and lost the use of his legs. Catelyn Stark and her entourage finally arrive, battered and beaten, at the Vale. Cat meets some family. One is a positive reunion. The other not so much. We tell you all about it, give you some insights, and ponder if Rickon might be better suited to look after Robert than Lysa. Chapter Review: Cat and her travel companions make their way through the Vale, from the Bloody Gate to the Gates of the Moon, and then Cat goes sky high to reach the Eyrie. She's accompanied along the way by her uncle Brynden Blackfish Tully. She tells Brynden about everything that has happened since Bran's fall. Brynden tells Cat that the Vale is angry and that her sister Lysa isn't the same girl Cat knew. He also worries that Cat has done the one thing Lysa doesn't want: bring the Lannisters to the Vale. When the party reaches the Gates of the Moon, Cat is summoned to go the remaining way to the Eyrie alone. When she finally reaches the castle, her sister Lysa seems so happy to see her, that is until the two are alone. As Brynden surmised, Lysa is angry that Cat brought Tyrion here, possibly dragging them into a war with the Lannisters. Cat meets her nephew, little Robert Arryn, who is small, sickly, and surprisingly attached to his mother. As Cat and Lysa argue, Robert asks about making Tyrion fly. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Catelyn Stark - Lady of Wintefell. The guys discuss the first serious contender for the role of Jon Snow's mother and debate why Ned refuses to tell Catelyn who the woman is. We also get insight into Ned's feelings of inadequacy toward his older brother Brandon, who was supposed to marry Catelyn and be the Lord of Winterfell before he was killed by King Aerys. Chapter Review: The chapter sees Ned and Catelyn discussing whether to accept Robert's offer of Hand of the King. Ned wants to decline. Cat thinks that Ned should accept. A secret note from Cat's sister Lysa Arryn arrives that indicates that Jon Arryn was murdered and points the finger at Queen Cersei Lannister as the murderer. That convinces them of the need to say yes, because someone needs to protect King Robert and the realm from the perfidious Lannasters. The next matters to resolve involve who should go to King's Landing and who should stay in Winterfell. Catelyn is disappointed when Ned tells her that she is staying in Winterfell with Robb and baby Rickon. The rest of the kids will go to King's Landing with Ned. Once that has been decided, they discuss what to do with Jon Snow. Catelyn refuses to have him in Winterfell. Ned feels there is no place for him in King's Landing. Ned agrees that it would make sense to let Jon go to Castle Black with Benjen to become a brother of the Night's Watch. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Ashara Dayne - Sister of Ser Arthur Dayne. Possible mother for Jon Snow. Lysa Arryn - Sister of Catelyn Stark and wife of the late Hand of the King Jon Arryn.House Arryn - One of the great houses of Westeros. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
In this episode, we discuss the feast to welcome the royal family to Winterfell, as seen through Jon's eyes. We also debate whether Ned is blind to the signs and symbols we've all seen so far or seeing them but doing what he needs to do despite them. Plus, we discover who the mysterious Kingslayer is! Chapter Review:Despite being the son of Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Jon Snow finds himself relegated to a table well out of sight of royal eyes at the welcoming feast for the royal family. Jon watches the precession of lords and ladies that include the rest of his family. He gets his first glimpse of the legendary King Robert Baratheon, Demon of the Trident, who turns out to be a disappointment. He is impressed with Ser Jamie Lannister, the twin brother to Queen Cersei. Alongside Jamie in the procession is Jamie's younger brother Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf known as “the imp.” During the feast, Jon's uncle Benjen Stark stop by to see him. Jon asks Benjen to take him back to Castle Black when Benjen returns, so Jon can join the Night's Watch. His uncle suggests he tastes more than 14 years of life before making that decision, as there is no going back. Jon gets upset and storms out of the hall. Andrew and Manu kick off July with a podcast on "The Pointy End" that mainly centers around Robb Stark. His events begin and end the scenes today, as he first stands up for himself against Greatjon Umber with the Northern lords gathered at Winterfell, then talks with Bran briefly about his planned early departure, and closes out the show by meeting up with his mother, Catelyn, who has tracked his army down. Richard Madden's superb acting offers plenty to discuss, as do the emotions behind Robb's actions. Robb's not all there is to this episode, though. We also have eerie premonitions with Bran and a saddened Rickon, Sam Tarly musing on the wights burning at the Wall, and Osha talking to Bran in the Godswood about the old gods. Oh, and we also see Hodor's package. There's a big man! Onward. The Cast Beyond the Wall returns with more Westerosi recapping goodness this week as they give us the breakdown of season 6 episode 3, Oathbreaker. This Bran's latest dream sequence, Cersei's latest scheme against the Tyrells, and Arya Stark's latest training montage. This week may be lighter on shocking twists and turns, but that doesn't keep it from delivering the old school scheming and verbal sparring that made Game of Thrones a household name. This week has us delving even further down the R+L=J rabbit hole as Caleb, Austin, and Daniel discuss the highly anticipated battle between Ned Stark and Arthur Dayne. Just before getting to the real meat and potatoes of the flashback, Max von Sydow's Three-Eyed Raven swoops in to remove Bran from the greater mystery of the past. The rest of Westeros continues to be in a state of decay as King Tommen continues to be the world's biggest pushover, the small council is divided between Lannister and Tyrell, and the North's leadership is slowly crumbling to the feet of Ramsey Bolton. This week continues to be dialog driven set up with a few surprises including the Jon Snow's final decision as the the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Essos continues to be a real snooze fest with Arya's training spinning its wheels while Daenerys continues to retread her old narrative stomping grounds. The show continues to move at a rapid pace and the gang here at The Cast Beyond the Wall are excited to lay out their favorite theories and predictions. What are your thought on Oathkeeper? After a season light world breaking events, this week's episode of Game of Thrones, Hardhome delivered one of the biggest moments in the history of the show so far. The wait for winter is over and the White Walkers have finally arrived in truly terrifying fashion to slaughter what's left of the Wildling army. The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to discuss this game-changing defeat by the elusive Night's King and how it reframes the story of the entire series so far. Before getting to the titular event, we talk about the hotly anticipated pairing of Tyrion and Daenerys in Mereen. The two deliver a couple of the best scenes so far this season and we take a moment to try and unpack their dynamics. Hardhome also takes a moment to catch up with Arya in Braavos as she prepares to take on her first assignment from the Faceless Men. We try to decide if she's ready to go full Batman after months of training in The House of Black and White. We also take a moment to discuss Sansa's discovery of the truth about Bran and Rickon. After being beaten up by the monstrous Ramsey Bolton all season, she's finally starting to discover the drive she'll need to survive the trials she ahead. Theon may be broken beyond repair, but after learning the truth about her family it looks like she's about to become stronger than ever. We go in depth into every scene of what is undoubtedly the best episode of the season so far. Does it top some of the biggest moments from the Red Wedding, Battle of Blackwater, or Purple Wedding?
