What do you get when you combine Jackie Chan, John Cena, Euron Greyjoy, six Chinese production companies, AND the 2013 winner of the China division championship of the Miss Bikini of the Universe pageant? Why 2023's Hidden Strike, of course! Dragon Luo (Chan) is the legendary leader of a private security company tasked with rescuing the kidnapped Chinese workers of an oil refinery in Iraq. For whatever reason his estranged daughter Luo Mei (Ma Chunrui) is also there, but she hates him because, like Gunner, he was busy being cool in some far off conflict zone instead of bonding with her after her mother's death. Meanwhile, ex-special forces soldier Chris Van Horne (Cena) is just kind of hanging around a Middle Eastern village entertaining children and feeling kinda bad about American military adventurism abroad. In an attempt to get water or something for the village, he teams up with some terrorists/mercenaries in this plot to kidnap the refinery workers. After 40 solid minutes of deadly serious action intrigue and ripoffs of Mad Max: Fury Road set pieces, Cena and Chan finally meet up and remember that they're both funny. The film shifts wildly into an action buddy comedy and stays that way. We liked the second half way more than the first. Plus there are bloops at the end!

Send us a textVictarion Greyjoy fights through his opponents and his misgivings about his brother King Euron. He's dispatched to Essos to bring back a fiancé (for Euron) and three dragons, but Victarion has other ideas. Mackelly and Simon ponder who would win The Bachelor: Iron Islands.Chapter Review:Victarion Greyjoy gets back to what he does best: following orders and taking names. The Iron Fleet decimates the reduced naval capacity of the Reach to claim the Shield Islands, which have long protected the mouth of the Mander River. The victors feast in the hall of the vanquished, humiliating and abusing prisoners. The scene is festive (if you are an Iron Islander, to anybody else it's pretty grim), with plunder and revelry for all. But there are some cracks in the facade of unity. Euron wants to sell the captives into slavery against the tradition of thralldom. He awards lordships of the four Shield Islands to redoubtable allies, who just happen to be mainstays of Euron's principle opponents.Euron wants the entire fleet to head to Essos to bring back the most beautiful woman in the world to be his fiancé, and to use the dragon horn to command her dragons. Wiser heads convince him to send only a portion - so he sends Victarion and his Iron Fleet. The younger brother accedes, but decides that he would quite like to be affianced to the most beautiful woman in the world.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Victarion Greyjoy - Lord Captain of the Iron Fleet. Aeron “Damphair” Greyjoy, learns of his eldest brother Balon's death and their brother Euron's claiming the Sea Stone Chair. He is not happy with that outcome and calls for a kingsmoot to decide the next king. Simon and Mackelly consider the options.Chapter Review:Aeron Greyjoy is drowning men in the sea (to bring them back with the kiss of life) when news arrives that his brother King Balon is dead. Aeron doesn't break down or anything, but he recalls Balon with awe and reverence for his returning the Iron Islands to its traditional god (the Drowned God) and practices (they really don't sow).At Hammerhorn (Lord Goodbrother's seat) Aeron learns further that his eldest remaining brother Euron has returned to Pike. He was banished for life by Balon, but has conveniently arrived back the day after the king's death. Goodbrother wants to know if Euron's claim should be supported, but the prophet needs time to pray on this one.Aeron had spoken with Balon recently, and knows that Balon thought Asha should succeed him - and she too has claimed the throne. But Aeron is skeptical that the Iron Islanders would accept a queen. Theon is believed dead and Aeron despises Euron - he won't have someone so unrighteous on the throne. He doesn't want the honor for himself, so that leaves only Victarion, Aeron's older, but Euron's younger, brother. While praying, he's struck by inspiration: in the old days kings were chosen not by hereditary. He calls for a kingsmoot on Nagga's Hill on Old Wyk. All claimants and captains should go there to choose their next ruler.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Aeron “Damphair” Greyjoy - Youngest brother of King Balon Greyjoy. We've arrived. Not quite to the finale, but only one more week of Talkin' Thrones before we wrap up the legacy of Game of Thrones and officially determine whether the problems of this final season were enough to torch the legacy. The Long Night wrapped up the army of the dead, and then the Last of the Starks set up a seasons worth of conflict that then had to be resolved in 2 episodes. And we arrive at arguably the most problematic, hated and confusingly executed episodes in the show's history, the penultimate episode of the entire show, "The Bells." And when I say confusingly executed, I mean I don't think there's ever been an episode of a television show that was so well executed, so clear with its story and had some of the best onscreen destruction and carnage scenes of the entire show, almost to the point where it elicits a traumatizing reaction, but feels so out of place in the story of Thrones, such a betrayal of so many of the characters we've spent all this time with. We have characters flipping on each other, making last minute decisions, some of which feel earned, some of which makes absolutely no sense. With both her dragon and Missandei dead, Daenerys has every intention of burning King's Landing to the ground and Cersei knows this, herding the citizens of King's Landing into the city to use as a shield. Varys attempts to do what he can to ensure this doesn't happen, attempting to poison Daenerys and appealing to Jon to take his rightful place as the king, but is instead ratted out by Tyrion and burned alive. Then the attack commences, Tyrion frees Jaime to save Cersei before she dies in the attack, Daenerys' army quickly takes the city, destroys the Iron Fleet and the scorpions, before the battle turns to a slaughter as Daenerys turns Drogon on the city and begins burning it to the ground, resulting in one of the most gruesome action sequences the show has ever put to the screen as they proceed to murder every single citizen in the city. Bunch of bodies hit the floor, as we bid goodbye to Varys, the Hound, the Mountain, Qyburn, Euron Greyjoy, Cersei & Jaime. It all ends...next week. We're really into the action now with Season 7, Episode 2 "Stormborn." The episode begins with Tyrion recapping the audience that the storm happening at the beginning of the episode is symbolic of Daenerys' forthcoming fury she's about to bring to Westeros. After she only makes a brief appearance at the end of last week's episode, Daenerys is back in Westeros and ready to bring the fire and the blood to Westeros, but not before she's propositioned by Melisandre to summon Jon to form an alliance of ice & fire. Jon receives Tyrion's letter and despite Sansa & the North's warning that it is a trap, decides to go, realizing the benefits of having 3 dragons helping to fight the army of the dead. Cersei holds court with the rest of the lords of Westeros she hasn't killed, and Jaime chooses a new commander of his armies. Arya makes a pit stop on the way to King's Landing where she has several run-ins with figures from her past. Sam defies the Citadel by choosing to heal Jorah of his greyscale. It ends with the first of several gangbuster action sequences with Euron Greyjoy's attack on Yara's fleet, with Euron brutally murdering two of the Sand Snakes in the first casualties of the war. Thunderbolts. Lightning. Very very...well you know the rest.   Actually, there's no thunderbolts or lightning in this chapter but there may as well be as we enter perhaps the darkest chapter in all ASOIAF. Down in the depths of shadow we reunite with Aeron as he undergoes...quite a bit. Ancient trauma, physical torture, questions that you think bend the mind until the visions kick in and show you what true brain shattering is. And all of it is swirling around and around a figure cloaked in darkness save for one terrible red eye. Yes this is the chapter of Euron Greyjoy and all that he could be about to inflict on us as circumstances go from awful to much much worse.   Hop aboard the Isle, if you dare, for conversations on the battle between ironborn and Redwyne, what the plan for Oldtown might be, the parts of Oldtown Euron doesn't even know about, maester-fallout, white-fire-women, reverse engineering, and talking about Asha because we need at least one damn positive out of this thing.   Check out History of Westeros for the live streams and main analysis: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiYwENpLDO4gyB4dBrMYrjQ   Please do consider giving us a rating or review if you can, and find more of the Isle of Faces and other projects at   https://www.patreon.com/IsleOfFaces https://twitter.com/SerBuckley   Thanks as always!

"A girl has been given a second chance, there will not be a third." says Jaquen H'ghar to Arya as we kick off the continuation of Season 6 Game of Thrones Episodes 5, 6 & 7. In the lair of the Three-Eyed Raven, we learn about how the Night King was created. Over in the Iron Islands there is a Kingsmoot for the Salt Throne and Euron Greyjoy pulls off the upset. Meanwhile, Jorah Mormont reveals his greyscale to Daenerys which means his certain death and as he bids her farewell to Daenerys, she tells him "Do not walk away from your queen, Jorah the Andal. You have not been dismissed." at last forgiving him for his betrayal. Bran goes behind the Three-Eyed Raven's back and enters a vision on his own, only to realize his folly too late as the Night King is able to grab him by the wrist in the vision, marking him. The Three-Eyed Raven awakens and knows what has just happened and tell Bran that he must now become the new Three-Eyed Raven because the magic of the lair will no longer keep the Night King out since he marked Bran. Bran asks the Three-Eyed Raven if he is even ready to take on this task, the Three-Eyed Raven tells him no. At Castle Black, Jon Snow is preparing with his war council for the upcoming battle against Ramsay Bolton and the other houses of the North. They realize they are vastly outnumbered so Sansa sends Brienne to Riverrun to request assistance from her uncle Brynden the Blackfish. The Night King arrives at the lair and Meera, Hodor and Bran have to escape with some help from Summer and Leaf. Is it going to be enough though? It will all come down to someone holding a door closed against the many wights. As we cruise into Episode 6, we get an interesting reunion with a certain familiar First Ranger that we haven't seen since Season 1. Sam and Gilly meet Sam's family at Horn Hill which goes about as good as you could expect, Arya screws up her second chance with the faceless men and the High Sparrow outsmarts Cersei, Olenna and Jaime Lannister once more. Brynden the Blackfish has retaken Riverrun and Walder Frey learns of this from his sons and then commands them to retake it using a certain hostage. On the road back to Mereen, Daenerys finds Dragon and mounts him while giving a speech to her new Khalasar. She says, "“Ei khal fin thir nak haan okhe sen dothrakhqoy alo ji qisi mae m’auijazeri ath dineur mae vas ma anha vos khal. Anha vo vakkan sen dothrakhqoy. Anha okkak el yeri. I ask your oath, that you will live and die as blood of my blood; riding at my side to keep me safe from harm. I will ask more of you than any Khal has ever asked from a Khalasar! Will you ride the wooden horses across the Black Salt Sea? Will you kill my enemies in their iron suits and tear down their stone houses? Will you give me the Seven Kingdoms? The gift that Khal Drogo promised me before the mother of mountains as the stars looked down in witness? Are you with me now and always?!) of which she receives a resounding chorus of approval. Now moving into Episode 7, one of our favorite dirty dogs happens to be alive! Jon Snow and Tormund talk the wildlings into fighting with them against the Boltons to retake Winterfell. Jaime Lannister has to come to the Frey's aid with the Lannister army to take over the siege of Riverrun. Now with the wildings secured, Jon Snow, Sansa and Ser Davos take on the grueling task of trying to convince the other Northern houses to fight for them. In Bravos, Arya is gravely wounded from the waif and she may succumb to her wounds as nobody will help her. Meanwhile, The Hound loses the only friends he had and he's ready for revenge. Join the Riddikulus Crew for part 3 on the continuous winding river that is Season 6 of Game of Thrones. This season's breakdown is not for the faint of heart as we will conclude it's evaluation in 4 parts! In the words of Ser Davos "The real war isn't between a few squabbling houses, it's between the living and the dead. And make no mistake, the dead are coming."

"Buried, burned, she's good meat. Feed her to the hounds." Ramsay's final words to Myranda's father as they determine her final resting place. Things start to come to a head in Season 6! Alliser Thorne tells the Night's Watch that he and a few other brothers murdered Jon Snow, Brienne comes to Sansa's aid fulfilling her oath at last and Jaime Lannister brings Myrcella back to Kings Landing under the worst possible circumstances. In Sunspear, Ellaria makes sure weak men never rule Dorne again, Daenerys makes her return to Vaes Dothrak in the most humiliating way and Melisandre has a malfunction with her necklace. Meanwhile Bran goes back in time with the Three Eyed Raven and doesn't want to leave. The Three Eyed Raven tells Bran "It is beautiful beneath the sea, but if you stay too long, you will drown." Back at The Wall, Dolorous Edd returns with some wild allies to keep those loyal to Jon Snow that were held up with Jon's body in the room safe from Thorne. Over in Mereen, Tyrion has a suspenseful interaction with Viserion and Rhaegal. In Bravos, Arya goes from blind, to a beggar, to beaten until Jaquen H'ghar comes along and asks her a few questions. Satisfied with the answers, he tells her "A girl is not a beggar anymore". At Winterfell, Roose and Ramsay Bolton are at odds about how to handle Sansa's escape. Roose tells Ramsay "If you acquire a reputation as a mad dog, you will be treated as a mad dog. Taken out back and slaughtered for pig feed." At this point their Maester comes in and tells Roose that his wife Lady Walda gave birth to a boy and Ramsay congratulates his father Roose on having a newborn son the only way you could expect. In the Iron Islands, the fabled Euron Greyjoy makes his first appearance in the the show telling his brother Balon Greyjoy the King of the Iron Islands "I don't mock the Drowned God. I AM the Drowned God.'' as he ends Balon's reign. Ser Davos has to put aside his personal vendetta against the red woman and ask for the biggest request of his life in attempting to bring back Jon Snow. A ritual ensues and it must have been hot and stuffy in the room because it's only when everyone leaves (except Ghost) we get a breath of fresh air. Continue onwards with the Riddikulus Crew through our next installment of this grand Game of Thrones arc as we delve into Season 6 this week with a detailed breakdown, some great debates, hypotheticals and potential potholes as well! "From darkness light. From ashes, fire. From death, life."

As the series comes to a close we talk through some of the politics that the show grapples with--from the lack of a peasantry perspective to depictions of revolutionary violence--as well as issues like representation and, of course, just general complaining about the final season. Please consider contributing to Future Left on Patreon at https://www.patreon.com/futureleft.Enjoy!Here's some of the articles we read about this recently:https://www.thedailybeast.com/game-of-throness-ugliest-legacy-failing-women?ref=topic&via=FB_Page&source=TDB&sfns=mohttps://www.jacobinmag.com/2019/05/game-of-thrones-peasants-powerful-war?sfns=mohttp://inthesetimes.com/article/20377/game-of-thrones-anti-war-jon-snow-white-walkers-lannister-stark-dragonhttps://www.theverge.com/2019/5/21/18632676/game-of-thrones-got-season-8-hbo-finale-winner-tyrion-lannister-victory-king-bran-stark-iron-thronehttps://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2019/may/21/hbo-and-sky-ponder-how-to-fill-game-of-thrones-gaphttps://tv.avclub.com/in-the-end-game-of-thrones-sings-a-song-of-ice-fire-1834879182https://www.vox.com/game-of-thrones/2019/5/20/18632343/game-of-thrones-finale-season-8-bran-tyrion-iron-thronehttps://www.independent.co.uk/voices/game-thrones-season-8-finale-bran-daenerys-cersei-jon-snow-zizek-revolution-a8923371.html?fbclid=IwAR3laTX7iqvSipAEAaV6mfl66W6Jse0CQ_WlDh4CrMxexB4-A-olVMe7Zsk

Merbear and the Maiden Jer - Game of Thrones

Varys wants Jon to take the Iron Throne, but Jon refuses to betray Daenerys. After Tyrion informs her of Varys' plot, she has Drogon burn Varys. Daenerys plans to incinerate King's Landing, but Tyrion conspires with Jaime to surrender the city if Jaime can convince Cersei to abdicate and secretly leave. As Jaime, Arya, and Sandor infiltrate King's Landing, Daenerys has Drogon destroy the scorpions, Iron Fleet, and the Golden Company, allowing her army to enter. The Lannister forces are overwhelmed and surrender, but an enraged Daenerys attacks the city on Drogon, indiscriminately incinerating soldiers and civilians. The allied army follows her lead, slaughtering all in their path, horrifying Tyrion and Jon. After entering the Red Keep, Jaime kills Euron Greyjoy, but is mortally wounded. The Hound convinces Arya to abandon killing Cersei, then engages the Mountain, who kills Qyburn. The Hound and the Mountain fight fiercely, the brothers dying together after falling into flames. Cersei and Jaime reunite and flee, but their escape tunnel collapses, blocking their escape. Jon calls for retreat as civilians flee a disintegrating King's Landing on fire. Arya, amid the destruction, barely escapes the city alive.

The survivors in the North mourn their dead, burning them on funeral pyres. During a somber feast, Daenerys names Gendry Lord of Storm's End to great huzzahs. He then seeks out Arya and proposes to her, but she says thanks but no thanks. Jaime and Brienne hook up, much to Tormund's dismay. Daenerys begs Jon to keep his true parentage under wraps. Bronn arrives to demand Highgarden in exchange for not killing Jaime and Tyrion. Daenerys is ready to go fuck up King's Landing to put an end to Cersei, but everyone else dissuades her. Jon asks Bran to reveal his true parents to Sansa and Arya after swearing them to secrecy. Sansa turns around and immediately blabs to Tyrion, who in turn informs Varys. Arya and the Hound leave Winterfell together to take care of unfinished business in King's Landing. Tormund gives Jon a warm farewell, saying he's taking the Wildlings back beyond the wall. Daenerys and her fleet set sail for King's Landing, while Jon leads the Northern army. Euron Greyjoy ambushes the fleet at Dragonstone, immediately killing Rhaegal with bigger badder scorpions mounted on his ships. Daenerys' ships are quickly sunk as well, dumping everyone in the sea, allowing the bad guys to capture Missandei. Daenerys' blood is up as Varys and Tyrion debate whether Jon or Daenerys is better suited to sit the Iron Throne. Jaime ditches Brienne, seemingly wanting to go protect Cersei. During a parlay at King's Landing's gates Cersei rebuffs Tyrion's plea for peace, and has the mountain behead Missandei. Grey Worm is gutted, and Dany is ready for vengeance.

The North mourn their dead, burning them on funeral pyres. During a somber feast, Daenerys legitimizes Gendry as a Baratheon, and names him as Lord of Storm's End. Gendry proposes to Arya, but she declines. Jaime and Brienne sleep together. Daenerys wants Jon to hide his true parentage, though he wants Sansa and Arya to know. Tormund tells Jon he will return north with the Wildlings. Bronn arrives to kill Jaime and Tyrion, but spares them in exchange for Highgarden. During a war council, Daenerys wants to immediately attack King's Landing, but Sansa disagrees. Jon reveals his Targaryen claim to Sansa and Arya, swearing them to secrecy. Wanting Jon as king, Sansa tells Tyrion, who tells Varys. Daenerys and her fleet set sail for King's Landing, while Jon leads the Northern army. Arya leaves Winterfell with Sandor Clegane for the south. Euron Greyjoy ambushes the fleet, killing Rhaegal, and Missandei is captured. Daenerys considers seizing King's Landing by using Drogon's fire. Varys admits that Jon would make a better leader. Hearing of Cersei's actions, Jaime leaves Winterfell. We give you our reactions, we highlight what we liked and didn’t like, Marcell doubles down on his crazy theory with Tyrion, and we really try to figure out Euron Greyjoy’s intentions. All that and more GAME OF THRONES talk for the anniversary. We are still mourning the loss of Nipsey Hussle. His funeral was last Thursday and Marcell gives his take on the man that impacted his life, and how Nipsey’s death impacted the lives of the people that live in South LA. Europe’s most coveted monument almost got burnt to the ground the other day. We don’t know much about the Notre Dame de Paris, but it was all over the news and we figured we take a shot by learning as much as we could about this building and sharing our thoughts about it. (shrug) All that and the fact we love being black. Enjoy our milestone episode of The Coolest Podcast In The Jungle!

Hello, lords and ladies of the realm! After dueling with the podcasting white walker overlords and the lengthiest hiatus yet, The Cast Beyond the Wall has returned with a full preview of the final season of Game of Thrones. Caleb is re-joined by co-hosts Austin Lucari and Daniel Stull to look back at last year's greatest hits before they make their predictions on the twists, backstabbings, and deaths ahead in the final six episodes of Game of Thrones. The podcast kicks off with a brief look back at the highs and lows of season 7 before the cast breaks down the position of each main character and the role they'll play in the final storylines. Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen have taken their forces north to Winterfell to prepare for the Night King's armies who are marching south after the attack on Eastwatch. South in King's Landing, Cersei has conspired with Euron Greyjoy to break her oath and betray Jon and Daenerys by retaking Westeros while her adversaries are fighting the army of the dead. After discovering this plot, Jaime left Cersei to join the forces fighting in the north. With her enemies vulnerable, will her plan to retake Westeros prove successful or threatening to the heroes waging war with the wights? One potential threat to her plan is Theon Greyjoy's mission to rescue his sister, Yara, from the cartoonish clutches or Euron and his newly recruited Golden Company. With Theon's redemption all but complete, can his small team of Iron Islanders do enough to sabotage Cersei's scheme? All of these questions and more will be discussed in this final season preview. To close out the conversation, The Cast Beyond the Wall reveals the plans to bring back the fan favorite Game of Thrones Fantasy League. Once again, Caleb, Austin, and Daniel will play in this year's year's special Fantasy League put on by The Verge. Start placing your bets now, because these stakes and results are coming in hot! The final season of Game of Thrones is bittersweet and The Cast Beyond the Wall will be there with you each and every step of the way. When the dust settles, all debts will be paid and the chilling winter winds will blow over the graves of our favorite fallen characters. This week, we are joined by Dan Selke and Richard Preston, and of course, the lovely Sarah is there are well, as we recap Game of Thrones season 7, episodes 1-4.Our topics:We all agreed the cold open in the premiere episode, "Dragonstone," was the best one in the entire series. We also agree that Jon and Sansa should have talked before meeting with the Northern Lords, as their arguing openly made them look foolish.Euron Greyjoy was a surprising delight, especially after his dull appearance in season 6.Sarah really liked the poop montage.During episode 702, "Stormborn," Corey Smith and Sarah talk about grumpy Daenerys. We all loved the war room scene at Dragonstone, as it was extremely empowering for women to have the leaders of each force to be a woman.Again, Jon and Sansa arguing in public was foolhardy. We loved the cinematography and amazing action from that action packed Greyjoy sea battle.Episode 703, "The Queen's Justice" was neat and so too was the first ever meeting of Dany and Jon.Sansa proved herself to be a fine regent of the North, in Jon's absence. The highpoint of the episode was Diana Rigg as Olenna Tyrel going out like a boss. "Tell Cersei. I want her to know it was me."In episode 704, "The Spoils of War," Bran came home and had a very muted reunion with Sansa. We all agree the high point, obviously was "The Loot Train Battle," and we discuss it in detail.

Welcome to another episode of Take the Black, Winter is Coming’s Game of Thrones podcast. This week our panel dives head first into the Game of Thrones season 7 finale -- "The Dragon and the Wolf."Our topics include:Brienne and the Hound's proud parents moments when discussing Arya. The CLEGANEBOWL that never happened, but might have been foreshadowed.Euron Greyjoy tried to be funny but Tyrion and Theon put him away like the trash that he is.Did Tyrion make a deal to place Cersei's baby on the Iron Throne after Dany dies? Is this why he was skulking in the shadows when #EpicBoatSex happened?Sansa broke the fourth wall when she acknowledged she was a slow learner.Did Arya cut Littlefinger's throat in that manner so she could save his face for later?Rhaegar and Lyanna's wedding was neat.Bran is capable of jokes. The Night King sure did make short work of the Wall.Gods, please let Tormund and Beric be okay.As usual, Take the Black leans heavily on the NSFW side (beware of F-bombs). You’ve been warned.

On today’s episode, co-producer Rush Perez are talking about Game of Thrones season 7, episode 4. This is Bed Stuy Vocal Fry, a sister pod to Bri Books, focusing on the shows Rush and I can't stop talking about. Thanks for listening! Subscribe on iTunes and SoundCloud. @bsvocalfry on Twitter.   1:15 - The episode looks at 4 locations throughout kingdom, starting with King’s Landing. 1:30 – When we look at King’s Landing, we’ve Game of Thrones Cersei talking to a banker from Braavos. They’re the Sallie Mae of Game of Thrones. They always get their money. They’re the student loan debtors at Game of Thrones. 1:55 – The crown owes a lot to Iron Bank. One of the things Cersei gets to is that she’s holding on tooth and nail to the power she does possess. When she’s talking in King’s Landing to Iron Bank, she says the debt will be paid within a fortnight. She intends to pay by robbing the Tyrell's, the house she destroyed. It seems like the deal is sealed. 2:45 what’s up in Winterfell? Some new kids on the block in the ‘fell, aka that’s where they live. 3:00 – There’s constant reunions in Winterfell. Last episode we saw bran come back to Winterfell after not being there since season 2, when Theon took over. 3:30 – Bran last episode had a reunion with Sansa. Now it’s Arya’s turn! The scene starts with Arya on the horse, overlooking the home she hasn’t been to in six seasons. The last time she was there her entire family was still alive. Now her mom, dad, oldest brother, younger brother all dead. 4:00 – Arya reconnects with Sansa then Bran. It felt truly like the circle is complete they’re all back together, and so different. The scene of Arya wheeling bran as Sansa walks nearby, you realize how much life has happened to these kids. As much has changed in their short lives in the show. You get the sense things at Winterfell are closer to being better, not fixed. But everyone’s favorite creepy uncle LIttlefinger is lurking! 4:55 – Did you catch Bran saying “Chaos is a ladder?” it’s like, Littelfinger is SHOOK. When he realizes that Brans out of nowhere reciting this. 5:15 Littelfinger strikes me as a character who doesn’t’ buy into magic, White Walkers. He’s into palace intrigue, what he can manipulate. I think it’s the first time LIttlefinger realizes he’s up against something out of his control that he can’t outsmart. 5:45 – Bran was creeping out everyone. I think it’s because he’s become the 3-eyed-raven, he’s not Bran anymore. He’s something else, but still has bran’s memories. 6:00 – he’s the collective memory of the universe. He says that to Myra, in what may be the most cold-blooded scene in the series. I’m like, UGH! I was so happy the season bran was beyond the wall. Because I was like good, you’re a sour boy with a bad attitude. Like, we get it, but still! UGH! You could’ve been like, thank you…no one wanted to wheel and carry you around. It just shows you, he’s the 3-eyed-raven. I thought that he’d be like an apprentice. But now he IS the memory. 7:12 – it was accelerated because the original 3-eyed was killed. Whose fault? Bran’s! 7:25 – Cersei’s in King’s landing, the Winterfell kids have returned and they’re worse for the wear. Now in Dragonstone 7:30 – you have Khaleesi and Jon Snow. Daenerys is up against a wall.     7:55 it’s because she started the season with a strong hand. She had the Greyjoy siblings with their navy. He had the Sand Snakes. She had the Tyrells/ Highgarden, the richest house in the kingdom. She had all that, and in the course of three episodes she lost all her allies. She still has dragons and an army, but no longer any Westerosi allies. 8:40 the closes she has to an ally is Jon, who is only there to dig and go. He’s not trying to be anyone’s king of anyone’s kingdoms. He’s’ like, these White Walkers are in route, we should make haste. 9:00 Daenerys discovers a mine of dragon glass under Dragonstone. That scene felt cop-out-y, like “a world of everything we need.” Yeah, you’d think this is perfect, but what’s gonna go wrong? Everything as to this point. 9:30 it’s too convenient. He spent 2 episodes trying to convince Daenerys, then he shows her pictures in the cave and she’s like I believe you. Seemed too quick for a turnaround. But the plot has to move forward. Clock is ticking. 10:00 Daenerys decides Jon can start mining and she says she’ll fight for the north, only if Jon bends the knee. 10:25 – After Dany and Jon have discovery in cave and romantic tense sexual tension…it’s creepy…but Targaryen’s wed brother and sisters for centuries…. 10:50 – after the cave discovery, Daenerys finds out from Tyrion that their plan to take Casterly Rock has failed, and the unsullied fleet has been burned by Euron Greyjoy. She finds out Yara has been taken captive, and she’s like screw y’all I Game of Thrones these dragons. I’ll go ride on them and figure things out. But her council try and talk her out of attacking king’s landing by appealing to her better nature, saying if you do this you’re just like your father who did the same. 11:45 – we forgot, there’s a return of a character—Theon and what remains of the Greyjoy fleet. 12:05 – Theon comes up on the beach, looking for Daenerys’ help to find his sister. But she’s’ gone, and he has an awkward reunion with Jon snow, which is awkward AF because Theon took Winterfell. 12:30 – Theon asks Jon where Daenerys is. Where is she? 12:45 – we circle back on the rose road, and It’s Jamie, Bron and the Tarley's, who were bannermen. Having come back from their victory in Highgarden. 13:00 – the Tyrrells were the richest family in the kingdom, and had the most fertile lands. They were the family that supplied the army and kingdom. 13:30 – an important point—Randall Tarly comes up to Jaime, says we Game of Thrones gold through city gates. What’s on the road is the food. That’s important to know because they hear something. 14:00 I think the noise is the sound of a thousand butterflies. AKA a Dothrak horde that they’re using as a plot device. They come out of NOWEHRE at the drop of a hat. 14:22 – how far is Highgarden from Dragonstone? Have they been riding horses for 2 weeks and no one knew?? Those are a ton of Dothrak. A ton of logistic questions about this show and episode. 15:06 – as you see the Dothrak horde—which is scary—you see the Lannister army is shook. And then…we hear a screech. And see two gigantic black wings come out. 15:30 – the look on Jamie’s face is the look you have when you look at your bank account and it’s low, and you see you haven’t paid your student loan payment this month. It’s like, this is gonna get much worse. Jamie looks like debt. 15:55 – hell breaks loose! There are flame everywhere! 16:00 – flames everywhere. On all surfaces—as soon as those fires come out of the dragon’s mouth, it lays waste to all the booty Cersei was literally banking on. They make a BBQ. This is a cookout now. 16:30 – a disturbing and interesting effect was, you saw people turn into ash. And it would like, be swept away into dust. 16:45 – on epis like this of Game of Thrones, I want to talk to prop masters! The horse trainer union! The guys doing pyrotechnics in the sky, it’s just so…you have to realize they’re creating a world! It’s giving me "Battle of the Bastards" vibes. 17:45 – my dragon sound effects! Jamie was shook. 17:53 –Bron runs to a caravan, and he gets the crossbow that Quiberon shows Cersei that he thinks could kill a dragon. He shoots and Daenerys dodges. 18:25 – Bron’s trying to hit Daenerys with crossbow. She realizes it, and goes straight towards Bron. She’s not zigging or zagging. 18:45 – she’s on her Rickon Stark game. Maybe they’re all related! When arrows come their way, they run towards them! 19:00 – he goes down but not all the way down. For a second, I’m like is this how she’s gonna die?? She gets off the dragon, tries to get arrow out of his shoulder, and then we see Jamie. And he sees the dragon down, and he sees Daenerys. all the while, Tyrion is on the sidelines watching it. Jamie is running towards Daenerys. Dany turns around, the dragon turns around and breathes a jet of fire. Bron grabs Jamie, pulls him into the river, and episode ends with Jamie drowning in the water as the screen goes to black. 20:20 – It’s insane. It was the craziest most intense episode I’ve watched in a long time. 20:30 – we haven’t seen a battle in a long time. We’ve seen a few sword-to-sword clashes, but otherwise lots of mutilations and surprise killings. But you’re seeing, this is what war looks like. As Tyrion surveys, he zeroes in on a horse on fire. It shows you war. We haven’t seen a badass war in so long. This one was so good! It gave us more dragon! 21:40 – we haven’t seen this much dragon action ever probably. 21:50 – we’ve seen it in Mereen when she was rescued and the episode where she takes out Slaver’s Bay and unleashes the dragons. But nothing like this. This was like, it was only one. 22:15 – wild predictions for episode 5? It’ll be near the end of first half of last season. 22:40 – I think that you’re gonna see Daenerys getting more assertive with Tyrion and with Varys, because they were the two telling her to be more cautious and to play it their way. She’s seeing none of Tyrion’s plans worked. It was kind of on him. The only play she did on her own worked pretty well and took out most of the Lannister army what does Cersei have? Gold but no food. What happens with Theon? 23:30 – I have an idea, Theon gets to king’s landing, either kills Euron or sacrifices himself for Yara. I think he’s dead before end of the season. 23:50 – as you were talking, I was thinking he hasn’t had his “ultimate sacrifice” redemption yet. 24:00 – I think what’s coming is as showdown of the Lannister kids. Once Cersei finds out Tyrion is why Jamie’s dead captured or injured…. whoa. when she finds out the role that he’s had in whatever happens to Jamie, Cersei’s gonna come after Tyrion. 24:55 – and Jamie just found out it wasn’t Tyrion that killed Joffrey, it was Oleanna. 25:10 – FMK segment! Rush’s picks: Yara (MARRY), Lady Oleanna (FUCK), Myranda (KILL). Brionna’s picks: Ned Stark (FUCK), Jamie (MARRY), The Mountain (pre-zombification (KILL) Thanks for listening! Euron Greyjoy delivers a big present to Cersei who gets her revenge on murderess, Ellaria Sand. Theon's is rescued. Samwell may have cured Jora. Seven be praised, Game Of Thrones is back and so are we!  The new season kicks off with a killer cold open featuring Arya, followed by a lot of table setting.  We get a good look at where are the surviving major characters are and what their motivations are.  Jon, Sansa, Littlefinger, Tormund, Brienne and Pod at Castle Black.  Oh yeah, and Bran and Meera arrive there as well.  Bran's reunion with his siblings didn't make the cut this week, but surely we'll see that next time.  Cersei and Jamie have an uneasy discussion in the Queen's new map/courtyard, then enjoy an audience with Euron Greyjoy.  Sam spends an eternity cleaning chamber pots and sloshing stew for the maesters in Old Town, but finally sneaks a look at the restricted section. The episode closes out with Daenerys and her armada arriving at Dragonstone, on Westerosi soil at last.  Shall we begin?

We just thought you should know...in case you forgot or weren't aware. We all agree that The Hound stole the show. Finally, Dany landed on Dragonstone and it was awesome.

It’s the beginning of the end, and it feels like it. For Game of Thrones, that’s a good thing because the middle was really hard. We’ve been punished enough, and now it’s time for some payoff. Arya seems to be our one-way ticket to instant gratification picking up her murder tour left off and killing every fucking Frey in the house. It’s great. Here’s to hoping our favorite Stark keeps the upper hand.   Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr and the Hound talk of resurrection. They really dig into the details. BUT FOR WHAT!? If Arya is exacting some kind of analog for Lady Stoneheart’s revenge, then why do they keep on about coming back from the dead? What does it mean, nerds?   Our other lone lady wolf, Sansa is as strategic as ever and without apology. Her agency is a stark contrast to seasons past (you see what I did there?), and it is refreshing. As the clans in the North come together to battle Winter and the Night King, Sansa is still playing the game of thrones. Let’s hope the twisted ways of Kings Landing don’t pollute the Stark family reunion. Still, we get my favorite line of the episode as Sansa interrupts Littlefinger’s continued attempts at manipulation.   Alas, the shiniest North star continues to be Lady Mormont as she turns gruff, filthy, violent men into submissive toddlers. I am pretty sure she is the one with all the magic. Yo, Night King, come at her, bro!   We also got to see…   The book thief Euron Greyjoy channeling his best Douche Tormund’s twinkle eyes Blackberry wine & Ed Sheeran Logs burning and zombies walking "Wun Wun" Walkers Blood on the pages, guts on the table A bald cunt and a top knot That Catspaw dagger Mothafuckin' Dragonstone   We’re so happy to have the band back together and we hope you are too. What did we miss? What do you hope to see this season? Tell us your great theories for the future of Westeros! We’ll respond to your comments and questions on the next show.

We tread a little new ground here, as our choice of the new release Ghost in the Shell marks the first movie we weren’t fully simpatico in our desire to go see. Since Al was cautiously interested, but Anthony was much less so, it made for a different viewing and discussion experience. We open up the movie talk with a fun little tangent on the recent trends in movie trailers (it’s relevant, Ghost in the Shell followed the trend) before we get to the heart of the matter. Our discussion covered a wide range of topics, including the effects of expectation on our perception of a movie we were unsure on. We dabbled in some more world building talk (it’s no John Wick as Anthony would say), as well as the cinematography and visual aesthetic that makes this movie somewhat unique in the current movie landscape. Plus don’t get us started (this was probably our favorite part) on the cast, which is really where this movie was at its strongest. From the stars we know (Michael Pitt sighting!), to the relative unknowns (seriously how did it take Al that long to recognize Euron Greyjoy), this cast is the life of the party on screen. Finally, we made up for the trepidation going in by drinking a beer we were both really excited to try, the inaugural and inimitable Al’s Ales Reserve Label Russian Imperial Stout (Spoiler Alert: it was really good). SO check out this brand new offering from Flix & a Six, only on the Spinchoon!
