BIO: Recently recognized as the New England Music Awards "Female Performer of the Year" 2021, Jennifer Tefft is a fired up, energizing presence that creates earthy music from its roots and breathes fresh, soulful, rock and roll life into them. Her music combines intense rhythms with melancholy textures and haunting vocals that wind easily from darkly ethereal to outspoken, creating her own brand of Gritty-Lush Alternative Rock. After getting her start playing for change in the subways and streets of Cambridge, MA, Jennifer Tefft met guitarist John Parrillo many years ago and they began writing and playing together as a duo. Following several years playing the circuit in Boston and Cambridge, they released their first album “Dig This Thing” along with bass player Jeff St. Pierre and drummer Phil Antoniades. They soon hit the road, playing shows along the Eastern seaboard and the Midwest. Since then, Jennifer has gone on to release four more albums with her band on the label Gypsy Spin Music that she owns. All five releases have received critical acclaim such as a New England Music Award Nomination for "Best In State" 2019, a nomination from the prestigious Boston Music Awards for Best Female Vocalist, and a “Boston's Best Unsigned Band" nod by local press. Her album “Shift” was awarded “Best Alternative Album” by the Just Plain Folks association in Hollywood, CA, 12 MyFm Local Music Award nominations and 4 Local Music Awards. We bet you don't think much about what happens after you flush the toilet. And why would you, right?! It's a modern convenience we can easily take for granted. One of the reasons you don't have to think about it is because there is a whole team of people working behind the scenes to make sure what you flush down a drain or toilet goes back to the Sacramento River as clean (or cleaner) than when it came out. Today we talk with George Coughran, Stillwater Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor and head of the award-winning 2021 California State Wastewater Treatment Plant of the year. That's a big deal for Redding. George gives us a fascinating look into how science can turn your number 2, into a number 1 resource - water, that is.Don't worry, there's not much gross-out factor in this episode, but it might just open your eyes to how important it is to take care of our natural resources and be a responsible community member. This is known in the wastewater world as someone who doesn't flush things down the toilet that gum up the system. We're looking at you flushable wipes. With that, we'll let George give you all the details.Read the transcript here >>

Fred has served as the Director of the Grand Cypress Academy of Golf (formerly the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf) in Orlando, Fla., since it opened in 1986. A Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher, Griffin teamed with CompuSport International and Dr. Ralph Mann to create the first science-based curriculum program based on high-speed video and computer graphics in the golf instruction industry. The SwingModel video teaching system has become a staple of the Academy, which was recognized by Golf Magazine as one of its Top 25 Golf Schools in America. Griffin’s and Mann’s research on the biomechanics of the swing spawned the golf instruction book, Swing Like a Pro (https://www.amazon.com/Fred-Griffin/e/B072PSWTBT) , which became a model for the many swing sequence articles you see in magazines today. This dedicated passion for research based instruction is what sets Griffin apart from other programs. In fact, he and Dr. Mann have spent years together and as a result have completed scientific research on all aspects of the game from full swing, putting, pitch and run, pitching and bunker play. A regular on Golf Digest’s Best Teachers in Your State list, Griffin has served on the National PGA Presidents Council and National PGA Teaching Committee and spoken at four PGA Teaching and Coaching Summits. His many other professional achievements include: North Florida PGA Section Teacher of the Year (1988), North Florida East Central Chapter Teacher of the Year (2009), and Golf Digest’s America’s 50 Greatest Teachers. Among the many players who have taken lessons from Fred at Grand Cypress are Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Payne Stewart, Seve Ballesteros, and Bernhard Langer, Liselotte Neuman and Amy Yang.
