It's truly amazing to run into a story that you can't believe actually hasn't been told yet....On this special episode we sit down with the writer/director team of Austin Andrews and Andrew Holmes to talk about their new film; 'The Island Between Tides'.Northern BC, 1982. Six-year-old Lily vanishes. For two days and nights, no one can find the cheery girl who'd strayed onto a remote tidal island. Until she's found at the exact spot she was last seen with no memory of being away. Unharmed but not unaltered.  The changes start gradually. Lily develops prodigious musical abilities, sensing the world through a mysteriousmelody only she can hear. But she can't shake her obsession with this island she can't remember, and that her family won't discuss. At 20, the melody leads her back to it, and when she disappears again, this time it's for good. Or so everyone believed. Decades later, Lily reappears. But, impossibly, she looks just as she did the day she vanished. To her, no time passed at all. Still a young woman, the rest of the world has aged around her, her family now whittled down to her elderly father, middle- aged sister, and the troubled son she'd left as an infant. Her assimilation isn't easy, testing even the strongest family's bond. Because this time, Lily didn't come back alone.Wildly considered to be the lost J.M. Barrie story and one that Alfred Hitchcock desperately tried to adapt for the big screen, The Island Between Tides is the kind of genre cinema that evokes memories of films like The Innocents and even Hitchcock's Rebecca (not the crappy Netflix version). We talked with Andrews and Holmes about the making of the film, the revelatory casting of Paloma Kwiatkowski in a leading performance that has the potential to be an absolute breakout turn, the visual esthetic of the film and the importance of Fried Chicken in the creative process along with so very much more....

Tensions rose once again in the Village of Dolton as Mayor Tiffany Henyard proceeded with a meeting that trustees postponed, sparking yet another clash between the mayor and the Village Board. The controversy stems from the trustees' decision to reschedule Tuesday's regular board meeting – postponing it until Thursday, September 12. A spokesperson for the village trustees said the change was necessary to address "several urgent matters," including finalizing the village budget, establishing a new bank account, and hiring a new auditor. Henyard's attorney, however, shared the meeting would still go on as originally scheduled. Despite only two trustees being present on Tuesday night – Andrew Holmes and Stanley Brown – Henyard decided to hold court. "As you can see, the Board of Trustees decided not to show up, nor did the clerk," Henyard said Tuesday evening. Much of the meeting featured a monologue by the mayor who says there is a smear campaign against her. "What I would like to say, mayor and us six trustees, we need to get it together," said Trustee Stanley Brown. With no quorum, Henyard announced nothing would be voted on; still, she gave department heads the opportunity to offer updates. Henyard – who has dubbed herself ‘Super Mayor' – took the floor. About 20 residents were in attendance.

Today we are bringing you interviews with four standout high school players that have recently made college commitments. They'll discuss their personal soccer journey, but most importantly, we'll learn about their different experiences with the recruiting process and learn a little about how they made their decisions.  This is a longer episode, and while we would love you to listen to the entire thing, here is the interview order:  1. However, investigators have already determined that the father legally owned the weapon but did not have a concealed carry permit he would have needed to carry it in the vehicle.枪击事件发生地多尔顿市的一名社区。活动家安德鲁·霍尔姆斯表示,“这个孩子一生都将经历这种创伤,他会思念母亲的。”Andrew Holmes, a trustee for the city of Dolton and a comjunity activist, said the accidental shooting happened in the community in Dolton."This child has to go through this trauma for the rest of his life," Holmes said. At the age of 40, Rahul walked away from his corporate job when his rental portfolio reached 15 single-family houses. Today, he has over 150 single-family homes. Show Notes: Here is some of what we talked about: How Rahul transitioned from engineer to buy-and-hold investor and build a large portfolio of rental properties (150+) His original plan: buy two properties, hold them long term, then sell them to pay for college for his two sons down the road Getting started: his first deal Why having the right mentor changed everything for Rahul The reason knowing your numbers means you can make money in any market Finding deals in a tough seller's market Why you shouldn't quit your day job right away even if you're doing well The benefits of using all your rental income to pay off your properties rather than living off that income Why he doesn't like flipping The 2-5-7 method Is it necessary to pay off your debt before getting started? For this episode, I welcome fellow real estate investor, Andrew Holmes. Andrew built the #1 flipping team in Chicago and completed over 850 deals in the Chicago market. He owns over 250 rentals and more than 2 million in assets. He started the Chicago Real Estate Investors Association which has become the #1 Real Estate Association in the US. Andrew has worked with over 450 investors in the Chicagoland area helping them develop a rental portfolio of more than 2800 rentals. Andrew and I started investing in real estate around the same time - he absolutely killed it and I am absolutely thrilled to learn about just how he did it in today's interview. Andrew first shares his background story and how he got his real estate license back in college with money designated to pay for his studies. He shares further along in the interview how this is something he has never even told his parents about! We then moved on to discussing how Andrew got started seriously investing at the age of 32. We discuss his first year in business where he completed an astonishing 10 flips. Having done two flips myself in the same year, I was extremely interested to learn about just HOW he did it without burning out. Andrew then explains how he made the first investment himself, before securing further financial investment from two business contacts. The growth just continued exponentially after that. Together we then dive into discussing the sheer operational challenges of rehabbing this number of properties at the same time and Andrew shares how he got started with a less-than-perfect Jack-of-all-trades contractor - and how he slowly transitioned out of moonlighting and into working with proper contractors. Lucky for him he realized that the stress of working all night just wasn't worth it after about the third flip. Andrew then shares that as the number of flips he completed grew, the profits started to fall. We discussed how his parents have influenced his outlook on life. Having both been hard-working, well-qualified surgeons, Andrew's parents saw themselves as true professionals and they expected nothing less than that from Andrew himself. Andrew however saw two people who worked extremely hard and didn't have all that much to show for it. Andrew made it his goal to show his parents that he will also be successful but in his own way. He describes how as a child he has always had big dreams and has more often than not been considered crazy for even talking about it. Eventually we discuss how the constant pressure of keeping up and the lack of security was making Andrew feel less than safe and his focus shifted to buying wholesale. Andrew shares the super simple formula he used for transitioning to owning rental properties - the 2-5-7 formula. Listen to the episode to get all the details on how it works. He told me how he started with just a handful of properties and then scaled it up from there. We then move on to the topic of choosing the right properties to invest in. Again, Andrew shares some gold nuggets here about the exact criteria he uses to assess whether or not a property is worth investing in or not. That's the exact system that got him from 3k a month cash flow to 100k a month cash flow. We talked about the logistics of managing 260 rental properties. Andrew manages the properties in-house with just full-time managers, 1.5 rent collectors, and a team of contractors. He gives us an important reminder to never buy individual properties outside of your area, as this adds unnecessary workload. Lastly, we discuss the importance of networking. Andrew shares how just studying the information just isn't enough and how important surrounding yourself with people that are actually DOING IT has been for him - and as always I absolutely agree with his assessment. Don't miss this episode of Just Start Real Estate that is filled with practical and incredibly actionable advice from uber-investor, Andrew Holmes! Notable Quotes: “I was born in the US but most of my life I've grown up in India. Even though I made good money. I always felt scared. If I went on vacation I felt guilty and I was sick and tired of this feeling. I wanted some security in life.” Andrew Holmes “I tried being poor and I didn't like it.” Andrew Holmes “I thought I was investing, but in fact I was just trading properties.” Andrew Holmes “My goal always was that one day I'm gonna make my parents proud. And I'm going to buy them something that's going to blow their mind.” Andrew Holmes “I don't have to worry about how much it costs or what it is. It's just a small part of what real estate has helped me do.” Andrew Holmes “I didn't drink, I didn't party. I was just focused.” Andrew Holmes “We do what's called 2-5-7 and that's what I try to convince everyone to do. Cashflow for life. I tend to be very fanatical about those numbers.” Andrew Holmes “I keep things very simple. I'm not a very educated human being. I can understand basic things and I stick to basic things.” Andrew Holmes “If you take care of real estate for the first five years, real estate will take care of you for the rest of your life.” Andrew Holmes “I was always looking for answers. While my friends were partying, I was reading books. Reading books, all it does is give you insomnia. Because you're excited and you don't know what the hell to do.” Andrew Holmes “The more I give away, the more I get to learn.” Andrew Holmes “Everyone talked a good game, but no one was doing anything.” Mike Simmons “If you think surrounding yourself with people who are actually doing the business at a high level, that you won't be able to exponentially increase your learning, your growth and your business - if you don't think that's going to happen. You're dead wrong.” Mike Simmons “It wasn't until I started going to these events and talking to people that my business was starting to explode.” Mike Simmons “The 2-5-7 model can be done in 98% of America.” Andrew Holmes Links: Level Jumping: How I Grew My Business to Over $1 Million in Profits in 12 Months Andrew's Website Andrew's YouTube Channel Chicago REIA Warren Buffett Books 7 Figure Flipping Return on Investments Just Start Real Estate JSRE on Facebook Mike on Facebook Mike on Instagram Mike on LinkedIn Mike on Twitter

Chicago community activist said Thursday that surveillance video from a Rosemont hotel shows Kenneka Jenkins entering a walk-in freezer alone. Andrew Holmes, who has worked with many police agencies during his years of anti-violence activism, told the Tribune that Rosemont detectives showed him the video Wednesday when he showed up seeking answers on behalf of the family. He said the video shows Jenkins, 19, waiting in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel after her friends apparently went up to the room in which they had been partying to retrieve some possessions. Jenkins then takes the elevator to a lower level and wanders around, opening doors in an apparently disoriented manner, he said. Finally, he said, Jenkins opens two doors in a kitchen area and enters the walk-in freezer. The doors close behind her and Jenkins is seen no more, he said. Holmes said he was convinced no one else forced Jenkins into the area where she died. But he said the family is awaiting toxicology tests to see whether narcotics had been put into her drink. "The important part is we all wanted to know: Did anybody call her down there?" he said. "Did anybody force her down there? Was there anybody on the other side of the room when she got down there? And the answer to that is no."   Follow me on twitter @wileyshow  Follow me on Snapchat @wileyshow  Call in 646-716-844
