Had to take a break from MarkxMark for a week due to no time. Ha! Biggest race event of the year and also the biggest paper I had to write this year for my Master's Class. One part of my paper really stuck out to me. This is what I'm sharing in this podcast.
I'm guessing that by now you've already seen the viral video of the moving sequence of events that took place last month in a Little League baseball game after a 12-year-old player was hit in the head by a pitch thrown by another 12-year-old. Oklahoma Little Leaguer Isaiah Jarvis was batting when the errant pitch from Pearland, Texas pitcher Kaiden Shelton hit him in the head, knocking him to the ground. After being tended to and cleared to go to first base, Jarvis saw that Shelton was visibly upset with himself and was crying on the mound. Jarvis called time, walked to the mound, embraced the pitcher, and told him, “Hey, you're doing great.” Afterward, Jarvis said this: “When I saw him getting emotional , I was just trying to be like Jesus and comfort him and really let him know I was ok. I just wanted to make sure he was okay too.” Wow! Sometimes it takes a child to remind us of what it means to seek first the Kingdom of God, and to bring glory to Him in all we do.

Sermon: Be A Christian Example to Others; Chaplain Michael Oliver Matthew 5: 13-16
FOLLOWING JESUS IS COSTLY Telling our culture they are wrong has not exactly brought about change, more like push back, actually. The New Testament does speak of the sins of the First Century, but to admonish Christians not to return. Judging the world was not the priority of the church. I Corinthians 5:9-13 The great power of Christianity is in showing the transformation that has taken place in Jesus. The light of Christlike lives is the means by which the church is to reprove the world. Ephesians 5:11-13 This, of course, requires a greater personal investment than to simply call people out. This explains why Jesus asks for just such an investment. Matthew 10:38-39 (A Facebook post from Edwin Jones) Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/sbsaTC5LKyE Have a Bible question? How do I know Jehovah is the God? It would take years to explore every entity that claims God-status. Instead, let me show you an aspect of Jehovah's identity that is singular to Him (as far as I'm aware). This is not the only separation between God and all others claiming His name, but it's amazing to me that Jehovah serves His subjects and caters to our every need. We are the creation, and He is the creator. We are the clay, and He is the potter. Yet, in His great love He makes Himself available to us. I don't know of another claiming to be God that is a servant. For those who are His, this should bolster your faith and help you answer honest seekers. For those who don't follow God, hopefully this information intrigues you to look further. I'm not offering this as proof. I cannot “prove” God to you, just as cannot “prove” He doesn't exist. Faith involves belief and this is one more reason God makes it so easy to believe in Him. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/A8N9ZavDFrQ Have a Bible question? Timothy and Epaphroditus are role models all Christians should admire and emulate.
This teaching is taken from the Letter of Paul to the Romans 12:1-2 and teaches about being a good Christian example so you bring people to Jesus instead of turning them away from Jesus by your actions. Brett Farve has announced his retirement 3 different times, only to return again the next season. As a result all the urgency and emotion has been drained out of his farewell(s). If he were to announce his retirement (again) tomorrow I doubt that anyone but the most hardcore of fans would care. Paul’s farewell tour in Acts 20 is anything but trite and overplayed. His third missionary journey allowed him to look into the eyes of the church and people he loved and teach them one last time.
