Christian Felix is an actor from Chicago now based in New York City. He now regularly does a specific kind of acting in diversity training, which is one of the coolest jobs you’ve never heard of previously. No matter what you say about Christian, he is definitely a professional storyteller. On top of him expressively recounting amazing adventures , he’s a spectacular listener. This is what makes him successful throughout his years and his willingness to be professional in all setting yet still have fun. The exact person you want on any filmset. Christian’s theme for the episode is how film sets can be fun and funny or incredibly contentious and still create great works of art. The short film Book Club by VARIETY SHAC Christian brought is a film where he was a background actor with hilarious comedians (Chelsea Peretti and Fred Armisen to name a couple) where his main job was not to laugh. He talks about other television sets such as the show Blacklist that were more stressful and lead us directly into his feature choice Blue Collar. Blue Collar had three lead actors who were in a tif during the time of shooting. Richard Pryor, Harvey Keitel, and Yaphet Kotto were all told they were the lead and drugs and feuds lead to a rough set life as Christian explains in descriptive detail. The story centers around worker’s unions and the fight of the worker against the larger system is a story that continues to be retold and relived throughout the test of time. If you want to hear more of Christian, please check out our podcast We Don’t Even Know where he co-hosts with Shonali Bhowmik.
At a time when the breaking news includes the coronavirus pandemic, Barney's shutting it doors, Harvey Weinstein sentenced to jail; We Don't Even Know Ep. 78, February 2020 starts out with even more important breaking news. Shonali gifts Christian with an "therworldly fragrances for earthbound souls” called the Tower by The Phoenix and The Fool. She's "full of love." Comedian Matt Wayne comes to WDEK married but ringless. He's starting a ringless movement. Shonali won't have it. Christian and Shonali are inspired by JD's activism which centers around sincerity. Songs discussed are Tres Bien (Le Tigre) and Making Art (Men). JD is now a teacher at Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music (NYU Tisch) and is excited to help propel her students into the industry. Christian Felix and Shonali Bhowmik just completed their second episode of We Don't Even Know. They still give each other hell, laugh way too much, and are happy to share their inane conversations with the world. Their fantastic guest this week is the fabulous Duane Harriott, DJ to the stars, WFMU Phenom, and the only man that has a greater laugh than Shonali and Christian. Discussion topics in this episode include Miami vice with Pops, eye twitching, The Electric Slide, the Olympics, holding a blend, Rupaul's Drag Race, Carole King Demos, a porno tribute to Duane, girls gone grazy on the Subway, and Sixto Rodriguez.
Christian Felix and Shonali Bhowmik are longtime friends who met as temps at a huge lawfirm in NYC. Due to their love of laughing and giving each other hell, they figured a podcast would be the best way to share their fun with the world. Christian is from Chicago, IL and Shonali is from Nashville, TN. They are both a little bit country and a little bit rock n' roll. Wait, correction - Shonali is a little of both. Christian, is well Christian. This first episode was done as a test pilot and we figured no one would ever hear it, but we decided to hell with that. Who cares? You may actually enjoy it and who are we to stop you. This episode includes discussions on the Hipster Riviera, Girls, Nudity, Christian's father, the NYC Soda Ban, Denny's and David Cassidy. Our special guest is Jason Lam - food blogger for Me So Hungry, rock star, mashup king and passionate Tim Tebow fan! Next week we dissect our test pilot. Guess what words we will omit from our vocabulary?!
