The first thing I said to Jessica when she signed into the zoom call is "Wow, I feel like I am speaking to a celebrity." And its true. Jessica Setnick is well known in the eating disorder field because her work is extremely thorough and up to date. I loved speaking with her on how she came to this field and it was much different then I expected. Jessica shared so much of herself in this episode and I appreciated every minute of it. Jessica's approach to treating eating disorders is unique because she really humanizes the experience of struggling with eating problems and body image problems. On some level, in 2021, I think we are all assaulted with messages about the way we SHOULD eat and the way our body SHOULD look. Jessica's messages are important for everyone because we are all in this together. Like Jessica says, "we are all eaters." Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, CEDRD-S, is known to dietitians around the world as an expert in eating disorder nutrition counseling. She has worked in every level of eating disorder care and education for 22 years as a dietitian, speaker and consultant. Her signature training workshop for health professionals, Eating Disorders Boot Camp™, has been attended by over 2000 dietitians since 2003. She is the author of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Pocket Guide to Eating Disorders and other books. In 2012, Jessica founded IFEDD, the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians, which has now grown to 800 members worldwide. Through IFEDD and the Eating Disorder Coalition, Jessica advocates for better access to care for individuals with eating disorders and ending insurance company discrimination and harmful stereotypes. In 2019, Jessica shared her decades of public speaking experience in A Dietitian's Guide to Professional Speaking: Expert Advice for Pitching, Presenting & Getting Paid!, and she is currently working on a new book, The Counseling Dietitian's Big Book of Answers: Cures for the Questions that Keep You up at Night. Jessica's passion is helping dietitians in all practice areas feel competent supporting the individuals with dysfunctional eating who are in their care. Today's guest is Jessica Jones, not to be confused with the Marvel superhero. Jessica has done something quite extraordinary. She's quit smoking cold turkey four times. She started smoking at age 16. Both of her parents were smokers, and it was her quest to prove to them it was easy to quit. Boy, was she wrong! Quitting smoking is HARD! Before long, she was smoking a pack a day. This was followed by the development of an alcohol addiction that progressed over time. It was all fun and games until the inevitable side effects began to manifest. Each time Jessica quit was just as difficult as the last, and she always ended up lighting back up within a year or two. The final time, however, was different. Rather than simply quitting smoking, she incorporated a complete lifestyle change through what she has dubbed the "4 F's to Cold Turkey Success." Exercise releases neurotransmitters that make you feel good and decrease pain. It also, when done right, works with the endocannabinoid system to produce a “high” that can effectively: -Reduce or even eliminate cigarette cravings -Produce an intense feeling of euphoria -Induce positive physical changes to start reversing the damage done to the body Jessica has made it her mission in life to help others take control of their lives the way she has, which led her to become a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach, and Tobacco Treatment Specialist. She is also a staff writer for FitRated.com and TreadmillReviews.net and teaches the Silver Sneakers and high-intensity interval training classes at her local YMCA. She's currently developing her own fitness program, QuitFitly, to help others tackle addiction through the neurobiological effects of exercise just like she did. Jessica Rhodes founded a new business and new industry category by starting Interview Connections in 2013. At a professional and personal crossroads she decided she wanted to be a "work from home Mom" - balancing being there for the children AND staying busy in the business world. She turned to the most trusted entrepreneurial coach she could find – her father! As an entrepreneur and businessman himself he coached, guided and supported Jessica’s plan to do both. And she did! She admits to being just ignorant enough to jump into the business. If she knew what challenges laid ahead she might have taken a different path. ----more---- Jessica Amos joins us today to discuss her recent pivot into the world of coaching and escaping the ways in which we are all conditioned. Jessica is a meditation trainer whose work features on the Insight Training app. She is also known for her TEDx talk about healing anxiety through presence and meditation.Recently, Jessica has made a conscious jump into coaching. As a meditation teacher she found she was getting frequent requests for one-on-one coaching and finally decided to take the leap. In working out who her core audience was, Jessica interviewed men about their awakenings. Before long she was able to pivot again into what she really wanted to target: boundaries, people pleasing and co-dependency.Leading up to this pivot, Jessica had been feeling that she had reached the maximum that she could accomplish on her own. She realized that she needed to change her mindset and find community. It was this realization that led to taking coaching classes and really zeroing in on what she wanted to put out into the world.Jessica grew up with an unstable home life. She discusses how the mechanisms she learned in regards to relationships stayed with her through adulthood. Learning to people please and diminish herself at an early age was not an easy cycle to break. She tells us that having her daughter was the catalyst for Jessica beginning to come back to herself. To end the episode, Jessica and Scott discuss the importance of beginning. Just taking a small action can be the thing that breaks the cycle. We have all been given boxes that we live in, but just because that’s what we’ve been given doesn’t mean that’s where we have to stay.Contact Jessica here:StayWithYourself.comInstagram

Lyme Voice Radio, Discussing your Lyme Disease Journey with Aaron & Sarah Sanchez
Welcome Ya’ll! I’m Jessica Donaldson, Lyme Southern Belle. In this episode we talk about: Losing hope (Orphan) and finding your inner Warrior Trust vs hope The reality of suicide in the Lyme community Push yourself to be better Be an information junkie Whole body wellness Get out of "the pit" It's ok to be sad It's ok to be sick & happy Writing as therapy I'm searching for the words to try to explain my journey fighting Lyme Disease and all that go along with this life-altering diagnosis. In 2013 I was diagnosed with late stage neurological Lyme disease. The tests showed that I was undiagnosed for over 7 years. The crazy thing is that Lyme can mimic and even cause Lymphoma so all those years I spent treating something that was caused by my Lyme disease, but allowed the root disease to spread and damage my own body over those years. I’m not one to back down. I beat Lyme Disease once. So, as far as I can tell I have the undefeated record… NOT Lyme Disease. In the meantime, I want to raise awareness about this disease and what it truly does to someone. I have started working with several Lyme Awareness Non-Profit Organizations. And I cannot wait to see what all we can accomplish TOGETHER to help the suffering in our Lyme Disease, Chronic Pain and Chronic Illness communities. I hope this blog inspires you to explore new mindsets, healing tools and more than anything…I hope that this is that beacon of light in the distance letting you know that you are not alone, and that it does get better.Feel free to leave a comment or follow me on social media! Have spirits been appearing on film since the invention of the medium? From the very beginning faces and figures have appeared unexpectedly in family portraits. Since then, paranormal photos have only become more disturbing with the terrifying appearance of orbs. Can you even imagine how scared you'd be if you saw a small, glowing light in real life? Jessica Perlman bravely discusses her eating disorder with us, diving into how it manifests in her life, what triggers her, and what recovery looks and feels like.
