Finding a better solution for visual disorders such as color blindness, a team of scientists from home and abroad have jointly devised a unique contact lens that surpasses current human visual capabilities. These contact lenses capture things even naked eyes cannot see, according to the researchers. In their research, the scientists, including those from the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui province, and Fudan University in Shanghai, ingeniously combined rare earth particles emitting multiple fluorescent signals with contact lenses. By wearing such special lenses, human eyes can perceive light beyond the visible spectrum into the near-infrared range, allowing individuals to access multi-dimensional information in terms of time, space, and color from near-infrared light. With the aid of such invisible glasses, people can see things that were previously invisible to them," said Zhang Fan, one of the lead researchers on the team and a professor of chemistry from Fudan University.“借助这种隐形眼镜,人们可以看到以前看不见的东西。” And for individuals suffering from color blindness, by supplementing visible light information with near-infrared wavelengths, wearers can enhance their ability to differentiate between colors like red and green," he said. The research results also hold vast application potentials in fields, such as information processing and visual assistance technologies, said the researchers. For example, information encoding, transmission and decryption can all be carried out in the near-infrared band. If using near-infrared light to light up particular information such as patterns, only those who wear the special contact lenses can see the patterns, while those who don't will never see them as the near-infrared bands are outside the range of their visual perception," said Zhang.“例如,信息的编码、传输和解密都可以在近红外波段进行。如果用近红外光照射特定的信息,比如图案,只有佩戴特殊隐形眼镜的人才能看到这些图案,而没有佩戴的人则永远看不到,因为近红外波段超出了他们的视觉感知范围。”张凡说道。Scientists explained that there are cone cells on human's retina that respond specifically to the primary colors of red, green and blue. The proportion of activation in these cells responding to the three colors determines the colors that people see. However, compared to the broad optical spectrum in nature, the human eye can only perceive wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700 nanometers, leading to the neglect of a significant amount of potential information. By extending perception to the near-infrared range, 700 to 2,500 nanometers, the technology may open new possibilities for pushing boundaries for human vision. Rare earth elements possess unique optical properties, allowing the conversion of different colors of light through near-infrared excitation. By discerning the fluorescence colors of nano-particles, individuals can identify near-infrared wavelengths invisible to the naked eye, realizing the recognition of near-infrared 'colors'," said Chen Zihan, a researcher on the team from Fudan University. The team further modified the surface of the nano-particles and dispersed them in polymer solutions, ultimately creating highly transparent contact lenses. In their research, volunteers who wore the contact lenses were able to perceive near-infrared light through the fluorescence of red, green and blue visible wavelength bands, and distinguish various compositions of near-infrared light wavelengths and patterns. This demonstrated the effective visualization of near-infrared images using multi-color rare earth luminescent materials, said the scientists. A paper about the research, a collaborative effort between domestic and international research institutions, was published in the journal Cell on Thursday. fluorescence/ˌflʊəˈresəns/n. 光谱;范围;幅度perceive/pəˈsiːv/v.

I, Stewart Alsop, had a fascinating conversation on this episode of Crazy Wisdom with Mallory McGee, the founder of Chroma, who is doing some really interesting work at the intersection of AI and crypto. We dove deep into how these two powerful technologies might reshape the internet and our interactions with it, moving beyond the hype cycles to what's truly foundational.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversationTimestamps00:00 The Intersection of AI and Crypto01:28 Bitcoin's Origins and Austrian Economics04:35 AI's Centralization Problem and the New Gatekeepers09:58 Agent Interactions and Decentralized Databases for Trustless Transactions11:11 AI as a Prosthetic Mind and the Interpretability Challenge15:12 Deterministic Blockchains vs. Non-Deterministic AI Intents18:44 The Demise of Traditional Apps in an Agent-Driven World35:07 Property Rights, Agent Registries, and Blockchains as BackendsKey InsightsCrypto's Enduring Fundamentals: Mallory emphasized that while crypto prices are often noise, the underlying fundamentals point to a new, long-term cycle for the Internet itself. It's about decentralizing control, a core principle stemming from Bitcoin's original blend of economics and technology.AI's Centralization Dilemma: We discussed the concerning trend of AI development consolidating power within a few major players. This, as Mallory pointed out, ironically mirrors the very centralization crypto aims to dismantle, potentially shifting control from governments to a new set of tech monopolies.Agents are the Future of Interaction: Mallory envisions a future where most digital interactions aren't human-to-LLM, but agent-to-agent. These autonomous agents will require decentralized, trustless platforms like blockchains to transact, hold assets, and communicate confidentially.Bridging Non-Deterministic AI with Deterministic Blockchains: A fascinating challenge Mallory highlighted is translating the non-deterministic "intents" of AI (e.g., an agent's goal to "get me a good return on spare cash") into the deterministic transactions required by blockchains. This translation layer is crucial for agents to operate effectively on-chain.The Decline of Traditional Apps: Mallory made a bold claim that traditional apps and web interfaces are on their way out. As AI agents become capable of generating personalized interfaces on the fly, the need for standardized, pre-built apps will diminish, leading to a world where software is hyper-personalized and often ephemeral.Blockchains as Agent Backbones: We explored the intriguing idea that blockchains might be inherently better suited for AI agents than for direct human use. Their deterministic nature, ability to handle assets, and potential for trustless reputation systems make them ideal backends for an agent-centric internet.Trust and Reputation for Agents: In a world teeming with AI agents, establishing trust is paramount. Mallory suggested that on-chain mechanisms like reward and slashing systems can be used to build verifiable reputation scores for agents, helping us discern trustworthy actors from malicious ones without central oversight. The Battle for an Open AI Future: The age-old battle between open and closed source is playing out again in the AI sphere. While centralized players currently seem to dominate, Mallory sees hope in the open-source AI movement, which could provide a crucial alternative to a future controlled by a few large entities.Contact Information*   Twitter: @McGee_noodle*   Company: Chroma

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:      Sarah: I'm dealing with reoccurring yeast infections, despite already completing the CBO protocol. Ive been prescribed by my doctor to take a fluconazole pessary every week for 6 months. I'm unsure where to go from here. Is there any downsides to taking an antifungal for this long? Would it be better to do the CBO protocol again? I feel like nothing is working     Jenna: What are your thoughts on the new technology of contact lenses with built-in blue light blockers in the lens?     Amber: Hey, whenever I take a supplement for anxiety/depression I have always gotten a significant headache and head fog. I would always try and look this up, but I would never find people who struggle with the same symptoms. An example is St. John's wort, ashwagandha, bach remedies, etc. I have also had the same experience with mushroom supplements and horse chestnut. Not sure if these all have the same reason on why I experience these symptoms, but I was wondering if you had an answer. A naturopath suggested to me that it may be because my parasympathetic nervous system has been shut down for so long and it's just waking up with these supplements. I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you!     Melinda: Hi doctor Cabral I've been hearing a lot about the significance of optimal VO2 max, particularly for cardiovascular health, managing insuline, and enhancing mood and sleep. HIIT is often recommended as an effective way to improve VO2 max, but it's also known to increase cortisol levels. I'm in peri-menopause, so I really need to be careful about high cortisol. What do you think about this? Should I still do HIIT regardless, or are there some other ways to improve VO2 max and still keep my cortisol low. Thanks so much for your answer. Kind regards, Melinda     Melissa: Hi Dr. Cabral - is doing the sauna safe when you're a breastfeeding mom? I read about toxins entering the breast milk but wasn't sure if that's true. Also I was wondering if you should do the “natural Gatorade” with the lime and sea salt before or after coffee in the morning? I was told to do this after taking your heavy metals test but wasn't sure on timing. Thank you! Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Anonymous: Hi, I'm wondering about what to be careful with when purchasing contact lenses. I read in The Rain Barrel Effect that the solution for contacts contains some heavy metals, is that already the solution they come in? I buy the daily ones because they're the softest & my eyes are already so damaged from them, that I can hardly stand them (so I only wear them on very special occasions, maybe once a month). Could you also explain why that happens? Do you have any brand recommendations for daily contacts? What about eye sight surgery? Is that something you would recommend? I know quite a few people who had it done and are very happy with the results, but it still seems quite scary to me, although I know this technology has evolved significantly in the past 20 years. Thank you for your advice   Jackie: Hi Dr Cabral thanks for everything you and your team do - it is life changing. I am doing Cbo protocol after heavy metals. I have high oxalate according to big 5 and reduced kidney function according to gp, how long does it take for a low oxalate diet to clinically lower oxalic acid in your experience? Working on the root cause but trying to reduce symptoms along the way.   Anonymous: What are the dangers and/or side effects of taking too much Vitamin K? And what's the upper limit with dosing?   Jamie (male): Thank you for all you and your team do. An amazing example of the power of why, entrepreneurship and the health industry! Is there anyway to bring forward REM sleep? Seems it doesn't really matter what time I get to sleep (easier said than done with young kids) REM seems at its best 5:30-7:30am. Issue is I get up at 5:15am. Any suggestions as I couldn't specifically find bringing forward REM sleep in the back catalogue… thank you   Sheila: Hello, I'm on week 3 of CBO protocol. I just started week 3 and I started getting hives on my legs. One ingredient is bromelain in the Candida supplement. Bromelain is a “red” on my IGg food sensitivity test. Is there another product I could use instead of this one? Please advise. Thank you for your time.
