Key moments highlight the detectives' strategic questioning as they piece together his timeline and scrutinize his alibi. As tensions rise, Detective Owens directly confronts Alex about his potential involvement in the murders, setting the stage for further revelations in the case.#murdaugh #AlexMurdaugh #SLED #Southcarolina #investigation #podcast #exposed Timestamps00:27 Intro to “Murdaugh” Episode Eight04:00 Detective Owens Refuses to Be Put on the Defensive13:07 Detective Owens Presses Murdaugh on a Timeline24:21 Mapping Alex Murdaugh's Night35:01 The 911 Call and the “Here” Comment51:42 Timeline Troubles for Alex Murdaugh 58:41 Unraveling the Truth1:11:44 The Final Question1:28:13 What Happens Next? The “Murdaugh case details” may be disturbing for some listeners. Now 26, Christian was raised in the small town of Huddleston, Va and grew up spending his time around Smith Mountain Lake. Growing up, his life wasn't always easy. With an alcoholic father, and an enabling mother of that drinking problem it was tough, but music found him at a young age. Picking up the guitar at the age of 11, then later getting professional vocal coaching from while participating in Staunton River High School Choir. After high school, though, Christian began down a slippery slope of alcohol addiction himself, losing his passions for music. He would find himself homeless, jumping job to job trying to figure out where he fit in. Until he met his now wife and her family. The musical talents of this family pulled him back into his music, and now, being almost 4 years sober, Christian has created for himself a full-blown music career. After playing his first solo show in March 2021, Christian hit the ground running playing any bar, restaurant, or venue he could. After landing an American Idol Callback Audition in early 2022, his career truly took off. He quickly formed his band, “Christian Q. & The Groove with meme era, Amy Quesenberry (bass), David Owens (lead guitar) and John Graham (drums). Now playing 3-5 shows a week, along with recording his debut album, “Coastlines to Mountaintops”. His goal is to start traveling more and spread his wings to new venues across state boarders! Now a husband, & father to a beautiful two-year-old boy who loves music just as much as his daddy does, Christian just wants to create the best life possible for his wife and son by doing what he loves most; and that's playing music.
Over the course of the pandemic, Dr David Owens has written a series of articles analysing the Hong Kong Covid response. As China begins to shift away from the strategy of ‘dynamic zero Covid', this article considers how lessons learned from the different strategies in Hong Kong and Singapore can best be applied when considering the current challenges facing the mainland.

It's clear to me that David not only loves cheerleading, but he has a deep commitment to our sport: to making it safer and better for all. David Owens was a missionary kid growing up with Francis Shaeffer and L'abri as neighbors and family friends. Rebelling against God, he made his way to Australia for life in the film industry. That turned into a stint as a flight attendant. He regained faith but with the “Children of God.” However, his life on airplanes turned into a church plant. As the “Jesus People Movement” hit Australia, evangelism just “happened” even to non-evangelists like David (and me). Most of his airline converts were gays and “promiscuous women,” so he did the next natural thing—he planted a church among them. Grace mixed with truth proved powerful commodities. After marriage, he and his wife pastored in Vancouver, BC, before feeling the call to Africa. The church in Tanzania focused on “white colonials” before David's leadership. He nearly quit the leadership team over the church's lack of concern for locals. His attempted resignation triggered rethinking and repentance. Attempting to quit did no good—he became the pastor and reformer. There were fireworks, including one missionary organizing an attempt to remove him from the country. But the Holy Spirit prevailed, with the now thriving church counting primarily people of color in their membership. Outreach includes training pastors, church planters, business people, medical personnel and the very poor. The interview with David was one of the most uplifting I've experienced—actually more of a presentation than an interview; it is the product of a members-only call with enrollees in the Equippers Lab.This one is great fun!You can learn more about David at Arusha Vineyard Church or facebook.com/arushavineyard. Engaging The Enemy From The Heavenly Realm

After 6 months without a community case of Covid, we are now seeing sporadic community cases with clusters of both Omicron and Delta infections in Hong Kong. In our latest podcast Doctor David Owens and Professor Ben Cowling discuss the current situation. They discuss the dilemma of a Zero Covid strategy without a plan for exit. They consider what a plan B may look like. They also discuss the costs of the public health policy on physical and mental health and hamsters.
Here in the United States, we began to see evidence of the unprecedented challenge to our health care systems and economy and wonder if our democracy would be strong enough to withstand the attacks on our constitution. Globally our world has been challenged in a way it had not been for over 100 years. An invisible enemy has invaded our privacy, routines, expectations, and hopes. Some of you, like me, have felt mental and emotional uncertainty and unrest. Everything that could be shaken is now shaking, where noise, angry noise, drowns laughter and love. And yet, a look behind this external emotionally challenging landscape, perhaps peeking through the changing of seasons, lives for some an internal emotional, steady effort to maintain and sustain their lives with a part of them missing. A child. The courageous conversation we are sharing today demands that you listen with your heart and spirit. It is not designed to entertain; however, it will hopefully educate, empower, and encourage you to know that your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. Be inspired by the authenticity of the David Owens family from Chatham, Massachusetts, as they share their story of loss, grief, and hope.

They also discuss the role of booster doses and the philosophical arguments around vaccine mandates.
Whilst much of the world begins the transition to normality Hong Kong has doubled down on a zero COVID strategy in an attempt to achieve the as yet undefined criteria which will allow an open border with China. In our latest podcast, Dr David Owens and Professor Ben Cowling discuss the brittle nature of Zero Covid and the lack of evidence and potential harm caused by recent public health decisions around quarantine. They also discuss the dilemma around decisions on vaccinating children and giving booster doses. The risk-benefit calculations of both these interventions change depending upon the long term public health strategy.

As official hurricane season barrels down on the Caribbean, this month the LUMA Energy consortium embarks on an unprecedented $20 billion, 15-year project to rebuild the damaged, long-neglected electric infrastructure on Puerto Rico. In this episode of Grid Talk, host Marty Rosenberg follows up with two former guests to get an update on the project. Wayne Stensby is the President and CEO of Luma Energy. David Owens is the Vice-Chair of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority.“We will be administering the deployment of the FEMA funding to rebuild what is desperately needed here in Puerto Rico in terms of a badly dilapidated and damaged… transmission and distribution…and kind of all the elements of technology in the power system,” said Wayne Stensby. FEMA, the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency, is providing $10 billion to support the effort, one of its largest undertakings ever. “We interact extremely well with the FEMA, with the Department of Energy, with other agencies who have a keen interest in the work that Wayne is going to be doing to rebuild the grid, so I think we're on target,” Owens said. David K. Owens is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in public policies surrounding utility operations, strategic planning, technology development, rate making and regulation. He is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on electric utility issues, industry restructuring, and transformation. His experience in the electricity sector includes leading the Edison Electric Institute's (EEI's) efforts over a broad set of issues that affect the future structure of the electric industry and new rules in evolving competitive markets. He spearheaded efforts to enhance the public policy climate for investments in America's electric infrastructure with emphasis on the role of new technologies to address climate change, and to enhance energy efficiency through smart buildings, smart appliances, smart meters, and smart electric grids.Mr. Owens is a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor and Master of Engineering degrees. He also has a Master in Engineering Administration from George Washington University.Luma Energy was formed Quanta Services, ATCO, and Innovative Emergency Management to rebuild Puerto Rico's electrical grid.Mr. Stensby joined ATCO in 1988 and has held a variety of leadership positions, including assignments in Canada, the U.K. and Australia. Most recently, in mid-2019, Mr. Stensby was appointed Executive Vice President, Corporate Development, where he was responsible for the growth of Canadian Utilities' global portfolio of investments in premier energy infrastructure. Mr. Stensby holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGA.
The fourth wave in Hong Kong has finally been brought under control and we have seen a number of days of zero COVID cases. What does zero COVID mean and is it a sustainable strategy? In this month's OT&P podcast, Dr David Owens and Professor Ben Cowling discuss the current zero COVID strategy and the difficulty of managing the transition to normal in the context of high vaccine hesitancy. They both argue that vaccinated individuals should be treated as if they are immune. They also argue that risk can never be totally eliminated and policy decisions should be based upon the evidence-based management of risk.
Musician & Busker David Owens joins Louise to talk about what it's been like for buskers during the pandemic and how he has been keeping himself busy. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In this month's episode, Dr David Owens and Professor Ben Cowling discuss the recent cases involving variants of concern, in Hong Kong. These cases have resulted in an increase in numbers of people being quarantined and subject to compulsory testing orders including those who have already completed vaccination. The vaccination program in Hong Kong is efficient, free and vaccines are widely available, however the percentage of the overall population taking the vaccine continues to be low. In this podcast they discuss the factors which influence such a high level of vaccine hesitancy and contrast this with the high vaccine uptake in a recent survey of OT&P patients which showed 88.9% of patients to have had at least one vaccine in comparison to 13.4% in the population overall. They both make a case for relaxing quarantine restrictions for vaccinated individuals in order to create carrots and nudges for boosting vaccination rates.
CCNE's midweek study was continued with David Owens teaching out of the book of 1 Peter. Originally recorded on 04/21/2021
In our experience, the majority of OT&P patients are significantly more worried about the personal implications of the public health regulations than they are about the disease itself. This is especially the case for families with young children. In our latest Podcast, Dr David Owens sat down with Professor Ben Cowling. They discussed the Hong Kong public health strategy in comparison to that used in other countries. They also discussed the increasing evidence of effectiveness for COVID vaccines and the challenges of vaccine hesitancy in Hong Kong.
It's a lot of money, a lot of wire and a lot of land, but the revolution of cluster fencing has kept many wild dogs out and allowed for the reintroduction of sheep to many pastoral areas of Australia. In central west Queensland, a cluster fencing program has now protected an area larger than Hong Kong. Hear from RAPAD's Morgan Gronold and woolgrower David Owens about the endless positive impacts the fences have brought to businesses, livelihoods and communities in the region.
David Owens is the uncle and one of the loving survivors of his niece, Madison, who passed away in 2017 due to neuroblastoma that was detected pre-birth. She was 9 years, 9 months, and 9 days old. Madison became a precious beacon of sunshine during her hard-fought battle with cancer. Her unlimited positivity and hopeful outlook, despite her eventual prognosis, resulted in waves of media attention from numerous people and organizations, and it was my absolute honor and privilege to speak to a man who was there with her through it all. Now a husband and father himself, David reflects on both of their journeys, the lessons she taught him, and how she shaped the person he is today. Please consider a donation, a word of encouragement/support, or both, to The Dragonfly Foundation, and/or Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in Madison's memory. #TeamMadison #GoneButLivingOn #999

The second season of Grid Talk kicks off with a discussion about rebuilding and modernizing Puerto Rico's electric grids after devastating hurricanes. Host Marty Rosenberg talks with David Owens who is the Vice-Chair of the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority. Mr. Owens talks about how his organization is working to use solar energy and microgrids to build a more resilient and reliable energy system. "A grid for renewable technologies is a grid very distinctly different in many respects from a grid that’s been built around central station facilities, which is traditionally how the Puerto Rican grid has evolved. So, you have to move from the kind of grid that we have today to one that has---that’s more digitized," said Owens. He also discusses why it's more than just building a new grid."This is really about the future of Puerto Rico. This is about bringing jobs back to Puerto Rico, enhancing economic development, re-establishing businesses in Puerto Rico, getting Puerto Ricans employed." David K. This week, we’re talking about cases profiled by America’s Most Wanted. Kristin starts us off with the story of David James Roberts -- the first fugitive featured in the pilot episode of America’s Most Wanted. Coincidentally, he was also the first fugitive ever captured thanks to America’s Most Wanted. David James Roberts was a terrible dude. He murdered a husband and wife, set their house on fire, and left their infant to die in the home. When he was out on bond, he raped a woman twice, locked her in the trunk of her car, then set her infant son out to die in an Indiana winter. Juries were horrified by what they heard. He was ordered to spend the rest of his life in prison. But a few years later, he escaped. Then Brandi tells us about the murder of Ashley Peoples. Ashley was just 22. She was hard working and responsible. So when she suddenly stopped returning her mother’s phone calls and didn’t show up for work, her friends and family knew something was up. Suspicion quickly turned to a man named Darryl Crenshaw. News outlets refer to him as Ashley’s boyfriend or ex-boyfriend, but her family says either term is too strong. He was just a guy she’d seen a few times, and didn’t want to see again. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “Top 10 America’s Most Wanted Captures,” by Claire Suddath for Time Magazine “Episode 1: Show About Fugitives Leads to Arrest,” by Christopher Drew, Chicago Tribune “David James Roberts,” Murderpedia “Gasoline can presented as murder link,” The Daily Journal “Formidable armchair posse ropes in ‘America’s Most Wanted,” by Peter Genovese for The Central New Jersey Home News “Angola jury convicts Roberts of murder,” The Daily Journal “Testifies in murder-rape case: Woman identifies suspect,” The Daily Journal “Jury finds Roberts guilty,” The Daily Journal In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “'He didn't have to kill her' Parents of Ashley Peoples talk about their ordeal and justice in the aftermath of her murder” by Laura F. Alix, Journal Inquirer “America's Most Wanted Leads To Fugitive's Capture In Mexico” by David Owens, Hartford Courant “Trial Underway In 2008 Slaying Of Ashley Peoples” by Christine Dempsey, Hartford Courant “MURDER, NOT MANSLAUGHTER: Jury convicts Crenshaw of more serious charge based on evidence of intent in killing of Ashley Peoples” by Alex Wood, Journal Inquirer “78 Years for Convicted Murderer” by Bob Connors, NBC Connecticut “Man Resentenced In Kidnapping, Murder Of Girlfriend” by Kelly Glista, Hartford Courant “Prisoner Doing 78 Years For Murder Charged With Having Child Porn In Prison” by David Owens, Hartford Courant “State v. After selling his publishing company, my guest, Clint Greenleaf recalls being on flight to Hawaii with his wife and two young daughters. They were sitting in first class and Clint peaked behind his seat to check on the girls. That’s when he had a revelation: “I thought, I spent a lot of time in the back of the plane... and if I’m not careful, my kids are going to miss the important lessons it took to get here.” With that, Clint set out to learn all he could about teaching kids financial literacy and the value of money. From his research, Clint developed practical strategies—a set of tools in the toolbag—that he and his wife use with their children. We talk about what they do and more in this episode. Topics discussed in this episode: Meet Clint (1:40) Build a network of knowledge (5:27) Questions about money for you and your spouse (7:02) What led to writing the books? (9:37) Give, Save, Spend (12:20) Using a family business for training (15:58) Allowance: Clint’s perspective (21:22) Making financial concepts fun and easy to understand (27:27) Entrepreneurship and financial literacy (31:35) What has worked for Clint’s family? (38:09) The proof will be in the pudding (41:50) Awareness is key (45:00) How to connect with Clint (47:19) Bonus questions (48:00) Guest Bio: Clint Greenleaf began his career as a staff accountant at Deloitte and Touche and earning his CPA. After writing his own book, Clint started Greenleaf Book Group, which grew into one of the industry’s leading independent book publishers and distributors. Representing over 30 NY Times and Wall Street Journal best sellers, the company was named one of INC's fastest-growing companies in America (INC 500 in 2006 and INC 5000 from 2007-2012). Greenleaf Book Group was also certified by WorldBlu as a “Most Democratic Workplace” for transparent policies, employee engagement and leadership. Clint sold the company in 2011, and stayed on as CEO and Chairman until 2014. His newest venture is HomePlate Peanut Butter, an all-natural, no-stir peanut butter that is connected with professional baseball and other sports teams. After completing two rounds of fundraising and generating rapid store growth, the brand is positioned for significant growth in the grocery space. Clint speaks to various audiences throughout the world about the benefits of instilling financial literacy in people of all ages. Clint helps companies bring financial education into their organizations to help grow the bottom line, and his clients walk away with an understanding of how financial education of all employees can help advance a company. He works with families, home offices and financial advisors to create a framework for building financial competency in children so they grow up to be responsible adults, capable of managing their own money. Clint’s audiences learn the value of imparting financial knowledge to others and improving their own understanding about money, and they gain practical tools to be able to put that into action in their own lives and organizations. Clint works with organizations around the globe as an author and speaker on entrepreneurship, financial education and innovation. He is a regular guest on Fox Business Network, and his articles have appeared in American Express OPEN, Inc.com, CNN Money, and The Huffington Post. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Inc. Magazine, Fox, CNBC, CNN, MSBNC, Forbes, Entrepreneur, and others. Clint and his wife reside in Austin, Texes with their 3 young children. Notable & Quotable: If you want your kids to learn about money, teach them what you care about and what matters to you. —Clint Greenleaf #successfulgenerations We have wonderful opportunities being in the upper part of the economic spectrum and we have a responsibility that goes along with that. —Clint Greenleaf #successfulgenerations The goal is to have the kids learn lessons now while they are at home and safe, before we send them out into the world. —Clint Greenleaf #successfulgenerations If we want teach our kids about life, they need to learn about failure. —Clint Greenleaf #successfulgenerations Every good entrepreneur fails and learns from their mistakes. If parents can allow kids to play in the field of entrepreneurship it allows them to learn what works and what doesn’t work. —Clint Greenleaf #successfulgenerations Let kids borrow money and let them pay an inflated interest rate. Utility executives poured into Boston from across the country this week for the Edison Electric Institute’s annual conference. They talked about everything from crazy national politics to rate design to artificial intelligence and the future of workers. We brought our recording gear and tracked down some top names in the industry. In this episode, we hear what's on the minds of utility executives. Here are some highlights from the interviews: Tom Fanning, CEO of Southern Company, on why decarbonization will continue under Trump: "We don't chase fads. Vanderbilt University Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos' second podcast guest is David Owens, a leading thinker on innovation and creativity who is a professor at the Owen Graduate School of Management. He also has faculty appointments in Engineering and Medicine. Among the many companies he has consulted for include NASA, The Smithsonian, Nissan LEAF, Gibson Music and many more. Owens talks about what it was like as the first faculty member to teach a class, 'New Product Design and Development,' in the maker space of the Wond'ry, Vanderbilt's new innovation center. He also discusses ideas that have come out of another unusual class he teaches, 'New Product Realization,' that pairs engineering students with business or law students. The Stanford University-educated Owens, who arrived on campus in 1998, has witnessed a tremendous surge in interest on campus, and higher education in general, with entrepreneurship and innovation, particularly given the tremendous success of companies such as Facebook and Google. He shares lessons learned for those students who take classes and participate in activities geared toward innovation, like the recent hackathons. David A. Owens is professor of the practice of management at Vanderbilt’s Graduate School of Management, where he also directs the Executive Development Institute. Specializing in innovation and new product development, he is known as a dynamic speaker and is the recipient of numerous teaching awards. In this interview, we discuss his new book Creative People Must Be Stopped. Creative People Must Be Stopped shows how individuals and organizations sabotage their own best intentions to encourage “outside the box” thinking. It shows that the antidote to this self-defeating behavior is to identify which of the six major types of constraints are hindering innovation: individual, group, organizational, industry-wide, societal, or technological. Once innovators and other leaders understand exactly which constraints are working against them and how to overcome them, they can create conditions that foster innovation instead of stopping it in its tracks.
