In this episode of the International Enneagram Association podcast, Seth “Creek” Creekmore is joined by his Fathoms podcast co-hosts, Seth Abram, Drew Moser and Lindsey Marks along with Lee Fields and Milton Stewart to celebrate Fathoms' 100th episode. The Fathoms hosts are also partnering with IEA as temporary hosts of this podcast for this year's global conference. Listen as they all share what this year's theme, “Unite & Ignite,” mean to them within the Enneagram community and what they are most looking forward to at the conference.“I love the Enneagram because it's a tool for liberation.” - Milton [02:41]“In relation to what we've been building for the past three years of Fathoms, how wide and complex it is to be human, and how the Enneagram is such a beautiful tool to help us navigate that, and I'm looking forward to adding more complexity and seeing how the Enneagram stands up” -Creek [14:16]“Why is there this factioning, why is there this othering between the new guard and the old guard? What's up? And it seems like it could be fixed with two lines of dialogue. What needs to happen? And I don't believe that I'm the secret sauce that's going to fix all of that, but I believe that naming it and doing something about it and striving to have connections between people is going to be the thing that's going to do it.” -Lee [19:31]“Especially in the Enneagram space, we spend so much time looking at ourselves and I feel like this is an opportunity to really look each other in the eye and to see one another more clearly.” -Lindsey [23:34]“When I think of these United & Ignite, it makes sense to me that we have to come together to experience the fire.” -Abram [30:22]“I think some of the most meaningful conversations I've ever had have been around a campfire and I think that's a good way to approach a conference like this. It's kinda like a global campfire of Enneanerds and Enneagram professionals.” -Drew [31:52]TIMESTAMPS[00:00] Intro[01:05] This week's hosts[04:59] Icebreakers[12:13] Most excited at the IEA conference[21:08] What unite and ignite means[33:38] Rapid fire questionsConnect with us:IEA2023.comMilton Stewart:IG: @kaizencareersWeb: KaizenCareers.comWeb: Kaizen Enneagram AcademyPod: Do It For The Gram: An Enneagram PodcastSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @_creekmorePod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Awareness to Action Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional Optimism with Dr. BSeth Abram:IG: @integratedenneagramPod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastDrew...

This was a delightful conversation about his book on the Enneagram and how helpful it is, not only to young adults, but to anyone looking for ways to overcome being stuck in their decision-making and how to live a life with more wisdom and discernment. This truly was a joy and it was beyond the shadow of a doubt that Drew knows what he is talking about. In this episode of the Awareness to Action Enneagram podcast, Mario Sikora, María José Munita and Seth "Creek" Creekmore discuss Enneagram Type Three, “Striving to Feel Outstanding.” Drew Moser, co-host of Fathoms | An Enneagram Podcast, joins them to share how being a Type Three shows up in his life. The four talk about how Type Threes aim to feel like they're standing out in some way, the blind spots that occur from this and how there's so much more going on under the surface. They discuss the misconception that while Type Threes can appear self-centered and selfish, they also want to make other people's lives better as well.“I think that's at the core of the Type Three is that they're always calibrating the proposition of their lives.” -Drew [09:07]“So they have this reputation in the Enneagram world of being self-centered and selfish, but healthy Threes are really, really trying to make the world better for everybody.” -Mario [11:13]“All I'm hearing is the pattern of expression is as sure as gravity, is what Mario is saying.” -Creek [23:22]“I wanted to highlight how your description of Type Nine is nothing close to what a Nine would say about being a Nine, I think, because of how a Three embodies the Type Nine strategy of ‘Striving to Feel Peaceful,' and that's interesting.” -María José [34:57]TIMESTAMPS[00:01] Intro[00:58] This week's guest, Drew Moser[03:49] About Type Three[07:42] Adopted language for describing Type Three[11:51] How Drew learned about the Enneagram[14:57] Drew's understanding of the Enneagram[18:05] Patterns of expression[24:25] Drew's strategy in adaptive and maladaptive ways[32:01] The connecting points[40:24] Achievement vs anxiety[44:25] Why use neglected and support strategy[47:17] Type Three blind spots[52:01] Check in on Threes[54:17] How to contact Drew[54:44] OutroConnect with us:Awareness to ActionEnneagram on Demand Mario Sikora: IG: @mariosikoraWeb: mariosikora.comPod: Enneagram in a MovieMaria Jose Munita: IG: @mjmunitaWeb: mjmunita.comSeth "Creek" Creekmore: IG: @creekmoremusicPod: Fathoms | An Enneagram PodcastPod: Delusional OptimismDrew Moser:Web: typetrail.coIG: @typetrailenneagramTwitter: @drewmoserPod: Fathoms...

This week, we're joined by the author of The Enneagram of Discernment, and the co-host of Fathoms: An Enneagram Podcast, Drew Moser! He's an enneagram 3, which means he's always struggling just to BE COOL MAN and enjoy his accomplishments, or even the accomplishments of others. We talked about what he's like in stress, and then we get down to business. The business? Well, it's all over the place this episode, guys and gals. There are lows and highs. We process a recent enneagram-world-scandal which honestly isn't funny at all, and then we take a hard left turn into a segment where we make some hard decisions about weddings, videogames, and candy. This stuff is important. Finally, we run down the not-at-all-timely 9 reasons each number would get canceled. Listen, you're not going to like yours okay. It's going to keep you up at night. Don't say we didn't warn you.

What is Orientation to Time? This is such a broad look at this subject but for today, if this is new to you, I want to just introduce the concept. Later we can talk about more STANCES because these two aspects of the Enneagram are closely related but for now let’s just define what Stances are and what our Orientation to Time is. 1,2,6 - The Dependent Types (Stance) Cooperators (Social Style) - Orientation to Time is the Present - but repress the future. People in the dependent stance get their identity from outside themselves, so they move toward others. They ask questions and seek guidance and reassurance to arrive at decisions, form opinions and find security in the world around them. 7,8,3 - The Aggressive Types (Stance) Initiators (Social Style) - Orientation to Time is the Future - but repress the past. Individuals in the aggressive stance move against (or as my teacher says, stand independently from) others, sometimes "pushing" against people to make their way in the world. This push is not necessarily (maybe seldom) intended to be hostile or combative, but they definitely know where they want to go and simply move toward the destination, not allowing things (or people) to stand between themselves and their goals. 4,5,9 - The Withdrawing Types (Stance) Soloists (Social Style) - Orientation to Time is the Past - repress the present. People in this stance gain their identity and take care of their own personhoods from within. Because they meet their own needs internally, they are said to move away from others. When making decisions about their thoughts, opinions and place in the world around them, they do it in the privacy of their own minds and hearts, so others can sometimes feel shut out from their decision making process, even when they're not. When Aggressive Types slow down and reflect upon their pasts, they let their emotional centers catch up with their heads and bodies, and they learn from past mistakes and difficulties, helping break out of unhealthy habits and cycles. When Dependent Types lift their gaze to see beyond their present circumstances, they become more open to a vibrant future beyond the tyranny of the urgent, helping them not be so focused on present tasks. When Withdrawing Types choose embodiment in the here and now, they become more aware of what is, rather than what was or what could be, helping them resist unhealthy retreating tendencies. Have you wanted to have a better understanding of yourself? A deeper knowledge of why you are the way you are and to become more self-aware? There are key elements that push us forward in life, that motivate us and give us our ambition. By understanding those motivations and drivings we can not just understand ourselves better, but more effectively move forward in our visions, professions, and relationships. In this episode I sit down with Drew Moser who explains to us the importance of knowing our Enneagram number and our type to better understand ourselves and why we function the way we do. He explains how the Enneagram doesn’t just show us our personality but gets to the root of what our motivation is in life and what drives us forward. He also dives into the danger of being too quick to tell others what we think their number is on the scale and why we each need to discover our number on our own.Resources Mentioned:“The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery” by Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne StabileQuestions asked:What is an Enneagram? Why does knowing our Enneagram number matter? Why are Enneagrams so popular right now? What is the one thing you have to know when starting to look at your Enneagram?Topics covered:The importance of the EnneagramWhy we need to know our motivator in life. Why we shouldn’t label others. The Enneagram isn’t an end all, it’s the beginning of a journey.Connect with Drew Moser:WebsiteFacebookInstagramLinkedInTwitterConnect with Kirby and Sharpen Podcast:WebsiteInstagramLinkedInFacebookTwitterPinterestListen to Sharpen on:iTunesStitcherGoogle PlaySpotify
