Cherri Rodriguez, Andy Houltberg and Richard Haynes join me to form an Enneagram Nine panel. Our conversation proves quite engaging for four Nines!!! Our panelists discuss the harmonizing energy of the Nine structure that continuously operates at the gut level. While Enneagram Nines appear calm and peaceful on the outside, there is a lot of churning and angst going on beneath the surface. Enneagram 9s are unpretentious and empathetic. Known as peacemakers and mediators, Nines sit at the top of the Enneagram circle and "see" all other eight perspectives. They find themselves unconsciously merging into others' agenda. As Cherri brilliantly states, the task of the Enneagram 9 is to take a front seat in their own life. The panelists share several practical strategies for Nines to be more present and accounted for. Cherri is a nonprofit fundraising coach. Her website is www.fruitfulfundraising.co. Find her on Facebook at Fruitful Fundraising Co and on Instagram @fruitfulfundraisingco. Richard is a coach and owns Empower Potential Coaching. Find him at www.empowerpotentialcoaching.com, and on LinkedIn. He hosts the Fill Up Podcast. Andy is an Episcopal Priest and is the CEO of Breakthrough Wichita, an organization dedicated to helping people breakthrough the cycle of poverty and mental illness. Find Andy on LinkedIn. Jeff's website is www.transmuto.org.
Anna Peterson, Susan Johnson, and Steve Garlow combine forces to form our panel of those leading with Enneagram Type 1. They masterfully excavate the Enneagram One structure to provide a clear picture of how the Type 1 personality operates. Enneagram Type 1 is known for its strong, unrelenting inner critic. As our panelists relate, the inner critic is an ever-present reality. Anna, Susan, and Steve agree, the One structure often causes them to be their own worst critic. That said, our panelists offer real hope that the inner critic doesn't have to dominate. Through centering practices, forming trusting relationships, regulating self-dialogue and pursuing spiritual formation, they have learned to have an inner critic rather than the inner critic having them. Anna, Susan, and Steve show us the strengths and gifts that the Enneagram One structure offers as well. Ones are conscientious, skilled, compassionate and live with integrity. Their pursuit of excellence is a superpower they offer the world. Jeff's website is www.transmuto.org.
Season Seven features panels of each Enneagram Type, and kicking us off in grand style is our panel of Enneagram Type Seven, Sr. Anna-Camille, Jeannie Armbruster and Margarita Pelaez-King. Together this panel unpacks the motivations, beliefs and fears that alchemize to fuel and shape the Seven structure. Sevens are known for their energy, optimism and pursuit for the next best thing, but this drive often masks a boding sense of a dark cloud chasing them. The panelists do a masterful job of exploring the Seven persona and their growth to stay present in their reality. Sr. Anna-Camille is a Benedictine sister in Washington state. Jeannie is an Enneagram practitioner in the Philadelphia area (www.yourtruestyou.com), and Margarita resides in Virginia with her family and is an HR specialist.

What if I told you that your communication pattern not only clarifies your unique strategy or method to get what you desire or achieve a goal but it also explains your view of time? It's wild but true. And I like to take it one step further because your natural inclination or focus on a particular aspect of time—past, present, or future—also impacts your connection with God. Friends, if you enjoy nerding-out with me on how God has uniquely created you, you will love this conversation. Now, while I didn't specifically label this episode as a series if you are newish to the Enneagram or aren't 100% certain you know what I am talking about when I say Enneagram Stances or communication patterns, then you might want to go back and listen to last week's episode about this very topic. This week on Unpacked Evan and Tara chat about the 3 basic human instincts and the enneagram. We chat about how the instincts are essential for human experience and how often unconscious they direct our way of being in relationships, decisions, work and parenting. Tara and Evan explain the three basic instincts of self-preservation, social and one to one and how one is often dominant yet we have all three in us. We share about the ways these merge with the enneagram to give more depth to your type (although you don't have to know the enneagram to identify you dominant instinct!). Unpacked is a podcast exploring life as messy people. It's conversations with counsellors, leaders, storytellers discussing the experiences of being human. We talk about the strength that comes from big messy failures and vulnerable moments so we can learn to live more authentically. Enneagram Eights are known for their outward moving energy. They have high levels of passion and determination to influence their environment, get things done and stand for justice. They also are determined to stand against what they deem unfair and unnecessary. Eights have a direct style of communicating. They call things as they see them, cut to the chase and approach situations with a move-or-get-out-of-the-way mentality. They are known as the leader, boss, challenger and decider in the Enneagram system. Sharon Hornbeck, Steph King and Roo Winchester discuss their experiences leading with the Eight personality structure. They hold a shared experience of their Eight energy often being misunderstood. The panelists also discuss their soft and tender side that is often overlooked. Sharon is a Certified Enneagram Teacher and spiritual director. She and her husband lead Transformation of the Heart. Steph is a nurse and just completed her Master's in public health. Roo is the founder of Roo's World which provides after school care and summer camps for children in grades K-5.

What if you didn't have to be controlled by your stress response? GONE is the day when we settle for being stuck or letting stress take the lead. Who's with us?! The Enneagram is the best tool for growth! Knowing your type is the starting point to gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, learning others brings self-compassion BUT stress and rest lines will change your life. That's why this week's episode is Evan and Tara diving into every type's stress and rest lines and why learning where you go in stress is the starting place to transformation and the practical steps toward applying the enneagram. Ever wondered what the lines are?! This is it. Each number on the enneagram symbol has two lines attached to it. One of those lines shows where you are prone to go when growing (the other for when in stress). This growth line is often called a “growth line” or “line of integration”. We continue part 2 of the episode next week finishing up the types. Unpacked is a podcast exploring life as messy people. Girl! If you know me you know I am obsessed with the Enneagram, and if you know anything about the Enneagram, you know that Tracy O'Malley is THE best!I am so flipping excited about this interview. I was soooooo scared and nervous to ask her to be on. I sat in my Enneagram 6ness and thought all the worst-case scenarios, BUT I am so proud that I was brave and courageous and asked her to talk to you all about the Enneagram and HOW knowing your Enneagram number can provide you clarity in knowing who you really are and using that to grow as a Mama. When I went to a personal growth conference back in October 2022, I was the MOST excited to hear this woman speak… And I get to see her again in April! My husband, Frank and I also did a couple's session with her recently, and I 10/10 recommend it! Sooooo empowering and eye-opening! Today, she brings ALL of the big 8 energy. She is no BS, unapologetically real and authentic to who she is. She is more than an Enneagram expert, she is a badass human, and I know you are going to be just as obsessed with her as I am!I cannot wait to hear what you think!WAYS TO CONNECT WITH TRACY ~- IG: @ tracy_omalley - Website: tracyomalley.com- Lead with the Enneagram Podcast: http://bit.ly/3RmNmulWAYS WE CAN CONNECT ~- Come hangout with me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/chrystylockhart/- Text STARTSCARED to (855) 849-0997 OR fill this out [http://formstax.co/21ee80d9] to subscribe to my FREE inspo Text List, because GIRL… I want to get to know YOU better!SPONSORS OF THE SHOW ~- Personalized supplements and programs to heal your gut and improve your health - www.gutpersonal.com/Chrysty10 (code: CHRYSTY10 for 10% off any order)WAYS TO HELP OUR PODCAST GROW ~- SHARE it with a Mama friend who might also find value in it and who may also need our back porch chats!- POST it on social media to get our message out to more Mamas!- RATE & REVIEW the podcast so that we can help the algorithm suggest it to even more Mamas who need to be reminded that they still matter!- FOLLOW the podcast on your favorite listening platform so you don't miss any of our back porch chats!*DISCLAIMER: The information and opinions contained in Start Scared is for personal and entertainment purposes only.I am SO grateful that you're here and to be on this journey WITH you, girl! Type 4s They already carry the core FEAR of Being without identity, misunderstood, flawed They ARMOR UP by thinking - Something is missing – I must find what is missing in my life. I must be true to my purpose and express my authentic self. I must create beauty and meaning for myself and for the world. This is how I feel safe and loved. Type 5s They already carry the core FEAR of Being helpless, incompetent, without resources They ARMOR UP by thinking -The world is intrusive; I must protect my resources and energy so that I can think. I must be self-sufficient and not depend on others too much. I must understand and make sense of my world. I don't need much but I need my space. This is how I feel safe and loved. Type 6s They already carry the core FEAR of Being unprepared, afraid, being blamed, without support They ARMOR UP by thinking - The world is a threatening and unsafe place. Be prepared. Be loyal. People can count on me. Be careful who you trust. I must not be afraid, but I must not let my guard down. I must protect myself, but I must be loyal. This is how I feel safe and loved. Type 7s They already carry the core FEAR of Missing out, being deprived, trapped in emotional pain and being bored They ARMOR UP by thinking - The future is full of exciting possibilities and I must experience it all! If I prioritize planning for future activities I can escape confronting present, painful circumstances. This is how I feel safe and loved. Type 8s They already carry the core FEAR of Weakness, vulnerability, being controlled They ARMOR UP by thinking - The world is a tough and unjust place – only the strong survive. I am a rock; I must not be weak. I must be in control. I'll do it my way! This is how I feel safe and loved. Type 9s They already carry the core FEAR of Conflict, feeling shut out, losing connection They ARMOR UP by thinking - I am okay as long as the people around me are okay too. The world would be a better place if people could treat each other with respect. I must be tolerant and accepting. I must keep the peace. This is how I feel safe and loved. Women in Midlife already know about change! There are conversations everywhere you look about transformation and change. But the conversations mostly discuss what we need to change FROM!! What do we do when things change and we don't know what they're changing TO? We may even be pretty sure what we're changing FROM but sometimes the change TO is a big mystery. Hélène Stelian is helping women to THRIVE in midlife and take some of the mystery out of the change. Hélène is the Midlife Mentor with a passion for facilitating personal development in women 40+. Through her THRIVE community, she helps introspective, curious, action-oriented women 40+ deepen their journeys of self- discovery and growth—and create their next chapter with courage and intention. We've got ourselves a double feature...why? because why not?! Today I get to chat with two Type 9's about all things Type 9. First up is the lovely Jilann. A fellow personality test enthusiast, she quickly landed on her type after reading "The Road Back to You". She and her Type 5 husband have three daughters; Types 3, 7, and 1---the Enneagram has helped their family in communication, meeting the needs of others how they need to be met, and even helping her and her husband learn to give space and grace for times where there's conflict and both needing time before continuing the conversation. We also talk about how the Enneagram has changed her life, and how she uses Type 3 in growth and Type 6 in stress. She is a fellow podcaster with her Enneagram Podcast called "Strength in Numbers" --be sure to give that a listen! You can follow Jilann on Instagram @jilenneagram_ Next, I get to chat with Julie, another Type 9 and the last 9 in our season! She shares all about her journey to finding the Enneagram---thank God for podcasts, books, and friends because they create curiosity in order for us to learn about the Enneagram and Julie feels the same way. She lets us into the world of Type 9 and the dangers of letting life pass by without living intentionally; about how 9's can sometimes merge with others, in conversation, behaviors, and occasional laughter. We also chat about the Enneagram's gift in helping all of us communicate with Types whose style of communication is different from ours and what a gift that can be. You can follow Julie on Instagram @juliemlmitchell and at www.juliemlmitchell.net

This week on Unpacked Evan and Tara chat about why you need to know your enneagram stance and how to discover it. We chat through how the stances refer to the basic posture of each enneagram type and how they move in the world. The three main stances are aggressive (at energy), dependent (toward energy) and withdrawn. The stances influence how you interact with others and often we are prone to one. Evan and Tara share each stance the gifts and the tension they bring and the growth path towards healing. We share how you can use each energy in your relationships and workplaces to uncover greater depth and health. Unpacked is a podcast exploring life as messy people. Todd and Cathy discuss a powerful tool for understanding ourselves and the people in our lives called the Enneagram - it's a system of nine personality types that combines traditional wisdom with modern psychology. They discuss the light and dark of each number and why understanding the different types develops self-compassion and empathy for others.
