This week we are talking about the best worst movie Troll 2, including green goo, sexy corn, goblins, dentists, whether or not you can piss on hospitality (you can't, I won't allow it), Harry Potter, war criminal ghosts, language barriers, but absolutely zero trolls. Watch Troll 2 on Kanopy: https://www.kanopy.com/en/product/troll-2 Best Worst Movie (2009) on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPEp1lDgsLM&t=2s&ab_channel=JackoTV I Love This You Should Too is hosted by Samantha and Indy Randhawa Troll 2 (or Goblins) is a 1990 independent dark fantasy horror film written and directed by Claudio Fragasso under the pseudonym Drake Floyd. It stars Michael Stephenson, George Hardy, Connie McFarland, and Jason Wright. The plot follows Joshua Waits as he tries to save his family after the spirit of his deceased grandfather warns him that the town of Nilbog, where the family are spending their vacation, is inhabited by goblins who turn people into plant matter to eat them. Although produced under the original title Goblins, American distributors marketed it as a sequel to the 1986 horror film Troll. However, the two are unrelated and Troll 2 features goblins rather than trolls. The film was produced by Filmirage; development was rife with difficulties, largely due to the language barrier between the Italian-speaking crew and English-speaking cast, and producer Joe D'Amato's approach to low-budget filmmaking. It was released on October 12, 1990 by Epic Productions, and some considered it to be one of the worst movies ever made. In subsequent years, the film has gained a cult following. Though it was generally viewed as a poorly made horror film, the filmmakers stated that it was "always intended to be a comic film." Stephenson later directed the critically acclaimed 2009 documentary Best Worst Movie about the production and subsequent popularity of Troll 2.
Is this our longest title ever? First, Indy reviews several basketball documentaries including; Bill Russell: Legend, Bad Boys, I Hate Christian Laetner, This Magic Moment, Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson, Malice at the Palace, and we have a not so brief divergence into the role of Allen Iverson in America's cultural battlefields. Then, Samantha recommends Star Crossed: A True WWII Romeo and Juliet Love Story in Hitler's Paris by Heather Dune Macadam & Simon Worrall. This week we have an invigorating chat with the incredible Heather Einhorn, I was connected to Heather through her spouse and business partner Adam Staffaroni, who you might remember back from EP 46. Heather is a real life female superhero! Among many other achievements (see below), Heather is the co-creator of the wildly popular Lethal Lit podcast. In this episode, we chatted about overcoming the challenges of working in a male-dominated industry, and how the entrepreneurial spirit can be so energizing. About Heather Einhorn: Heather Einhorn Is The Co-founder & CEO of Einhorn's Epic Productions. She is a co-creator and Executive Producer Of Lethal Lit: A Tig Torres Mystery and The Curie Society. Before starting Einhorn’s Epic Productions, Heather was The Director Of Business Strategy at IPG Mediabrands where she managed Strategic Development for The Media Lab. Heather joined Mediabrands From Legendary Pictures where she oversaw branding, publishing, and experiential marketing initiatives - including work with Frank Miller and Guillermo del Toro. Prior to Legendary, Heather was at DC Entertainment where she represented internationally recognized consumer brands including: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Justice League. While at DC, Heather managed all marketing activations including San Diego Comic-con and New York Comic Con. Connect with Heather: LethalLitPodcast.com EinhornsEpicProductions.com Socials: @Eintropolis Here’s to Getting Unstuck, Cynthia This week our show is sponsored by Frame it Easy. I found Frame It Easy last year when I was searching for custom framing that was simple and affordable. I had literally searched the “usual suspects” but still felt like I wasn’t finding what I needed and wanted for the right price. Everything was so expensive! As I was searching, I found Frame It Easy, where you can upload your own photo, digital print, or piece of digital art that they then frame for you as well. You can also design your own custom frame for a piece of art already in your home, which is what I have done - TWICE! The support staff was super responsive when I had questions. In fact, I received a call and exchanged emails with them when I had concerns and questions, and was so impressed with how quickly and kindly they resolved my issues - without hassle! Frame It Easy is the best - I now have all these gift ideas and projects that I want to tackle because I found quality, affordable framing that can make them happen. We want you to try Frame It Easy and see how awesome they are for yourselves. So, for our listeners only, you can now try Frame It Easy and receive 10% off your order with the code “GOALMAGIC.” Just go to frameiteasy.com and start your next project! GOAL MAGIC Music Credits
After a lovely break for the holidays, we are back for our first episode of 2019! This week, we have Adam Staffaroni, who actually went to school with me when I was growing up. Small world! Adam’s company, Einhorn’s Epic Productions, has launched a brand new scripted mystery podcast called Lethal Lit, which has been a smash hit and was recently featured in the New York Times. I was so impressed by Lethal Lit that I just had to get Adam on the show to find out his story. It turns out he had a very inspiring one! I hope you enjoy this episode, because it’s all about following your dreams. About Adam Staffaroni Adam is the co-founder & chief creative officer of Einhorn’s Epic Productions, leading new IP (intellectual property) development for the company. Previously, Adam was the senior editor in charge of the Roar imprint at Lion Forge Entertainment, where he developed new IP for the children's and teen markets while also managing notable titles including Saved by the Bell, Punky Brewster, Care Bears, and Madballs. Prior to Lion forge, Adam relocated to Los Angeles to launch the Kaboom! imprint at Boom! Studios, where he was responsible for the Adventure Time and Peanuts programs as well as projects with New Yorker cartoonist Shannon Wheeler and acclaimed musicians Coheed & Cambria and Daniel Johnston. Adam began his career in the licensing group at DC Entertainment after earning his AB from Dartmouth College and his MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies. Connect with Adam @eintropolis on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook tigtorres.com Here’s to Getting Unstuck, Cynthia This week our show is sponsored by Wellstruck from Sarah Zero. After years of owning her own branding company, as well as noticing how many entrepreneurs needed branding life support but just didn’t have the cash flow to put into it, Sarah was inspired to create Wellstruck’s Starter Brand Package. Sarah makes the process so incredibly simple from start to finish. Her clients walk away with an entire branding system that includes a typographic logo, color, font guidelines, business card, and a brand style sheet to help you look polished, cohesive, and consistent. The Lit Killer murders gripped the small town of Hollow Falls a decade ago. My aunt, Beth Torres, was framed as the infamous serial killer who based their murders on scenes from classic literature. Now, I'm back at Hollow Falls High. The mission of this podcast is simple. To uncover the truth. To clear my aunt's name. To put the real killer behind bars. Or die trying. I'm Tig Torres and this is Lethal Lit. EINHORN'S EPIC PRODUCTIONS & iHEARTRADIO PRESENT: LETHAL LIT: A TIG TORRES MYSTERY Created & Executive Produced By: Heather Einhorn & Adam Staffaroni.
