The Los Angeles Angels added another piece of the puzzle at the Winter Meetings on Monday, signing free-agent reliever Carlos Estevez to a 2-year deal! The pitcher has spent his 6-year career in Colorado, and today, Mike and Jon will dive into his career numbers, the contract details, and how well he will fair away from Coors Field! Then, what kind of role will Estevez play in the bullpen, and how will the rest of the pen take shape? We'll make some guesses as to what the pen will look like and how Estevez will figure into it. Plus, now that the Halos have set an all-time high for team payroll, what can they do with the money they have left before hitting the Luxury Tax?
Welcome to the 100th episode of Fertility Forward! Joining us today is the award-winning Dr. Samantha Estevez to discuss her research and mission to make fertility care more accessible for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Dr. Estevez explains some gender terminology to us and talks about who falls within the gender diverse category before telling us why we need to be educated on how people express gender identity. Next, we discuss how transgender and gender-diverse patients are affected by fertility care, why fertility preservation is important, the lack of fertility resources available to patients who have transitioned and why, and how finances and insurance affect gender-affirming care. We also delve into why training healthcare professionals in LGBTQIA+ diversity and sensitivity is essential. The hosts even learn a new term today; TGD (transgender and gender diverse.) Finally, we all share what we are grateful for, and Dr. Estevez tells us how happy she is making the world a better place through her research. Thank you for tuning in!

Violet Rodriguez, an everyday Mexican American teen, is chosen by a magical luchador mask which transforms her into Ultra Violet, a superhero fighting crime alongside her luchador uncle, Cruz, also known as Black Scorpion. Although Cruz takes Violet under his wing to teach her the responsibilities of her special powers, she doesn't always see eye-to-eye with him when it comes to his methods for capturing crooks. In the meantime, she must keep her superhero identity secret from her parents and her older brother Santiago ("Tiago"), as well as her friends and schoolmates. However, she does lean on one close confidante: her best friend Maya Miller-Martinez, who provides advice and assists with documenting Ultra Violet's adventures on social media. Already a Disney Channel fan favorite, Estevez portrayed off-the-grid camper "Gwen" in the hit comedy series "BUNK'D." Last Christmas, she played “Ro in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Christmas Again.” Estevez is also known for her role in the two "Daddy's Home" films (starring opposite Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg), and she played the role of Trixie on the Fox series "Lucifer," which was picked up for additional seasons by Netflix. She voices the character of Esme Louise on the Amazon animated series "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and most recently voiced the role of Izzy in "The Grinch" animated feature.

Meet Dr. Luis Estevez, an entrepreneur who has taken advantage of the opportunities presented to him with the same drive characteristic of people who come to this country in search of a better future. Dr. Estevez grew up in Queens, NY and was born into a blue-collar family to parents from Spain and Chile, and grew up working in the restaurant business from age 8. He got into college at age 18 and after a couple of years, he decided to go back to NY and work at his parents' restaurant. It wasn't until almost 10 years later, that he decided to go back to college, and this time he was all in! Dr. Estevez has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, he now owns his business called Advanced and Innovative Multifunctional Materials (AIMM), and likes to say that he won the “genetic lottery”, but we know he has worked hard to take advantage of every opportunity presented to him. He is also a podcaster and has created a space called What's the PhDeal, to help demystify the PhD degree, and to help new PhD students navigate the process and have a better chance of succeeding. It's an EMT pick this week, EMTs! We're discussing the 1989 grocery store-based horror film "Intruder." Special topics for your consideration include: an exciting Estevez development, sick reggaeton beats, our hopes for the geopolitical future of North America (c'mon Canada, we're waiting for you!), being the surprising nephew of a famous writer, and the lamentable position of being just smart enough to not be stupid-- it's rough. Want more from the Raimi brothers? Check out Episode 70- "30 Days of Night," Episode 150- "Midnight Meat Train," Episode 229- "Army of Darkness," and Episode 280- "The Evil Dead." I was also absolutely sure that we'd covered "Maniac Cop" at some point but the internet tells me I'm wrong so...maybe some other sweet day! HEY. If you like wrestling, or just like stuff that's cool, check out our friends at www.enjoy-wrestling.com.
