We have just finished another Eroticon and being around so many creative fun people makes it hard not to want to be doing something with them again. So while it is still really hard to find the time we do want to bring back the podcast because there is so much to talk about. The beauty of Eroticon is you can do it how you want to, if you are a quiet person then you can sit and take it all in at your own pace. Let's address this issue without flinching. Despite what the media try to tell you there are undoubtedly some amazing male sex bloggers out there. They may be harder to find - or slightly lower in profile - than some of the female big hitters, but they are there. There are lists made, posts written, and networking at events, and you only need to do a quick Google search to find a male blogger. However this is my tenth year of writing a sex blog. When I started, I was one of about two boy bloggers around. I was the most active, I was the most honest - and, although the following years brought fresh blood to the pack, I was (for a while) the youngest. For me this doesn't feel odd. I've gone through life - education, training, and work, as well as socially - making my way in what are traditionally (and unfairly) seen as female-dominated areas. My classes at school were primarily girls; it was the same at university, my second degree finding me as one of three boys in a year of over 100. Most of my friends are girls, I don't have any brothers, and every boss I've ever had has been female. Why does this affect me sex blogging? Well, it doesn't. I don't feel outnumbered, outclassed, or alone. I love blogging and I love bloggers - why should it matter that I'm not a lady? It doesn't bother me. While the reception I've had among the blogosphere has been mostly positive, the mainstream media is a completely different animal. Girl bloggers get a certain degree of exposure, which is well-deserved in some cases, yet occasionally stems from the fact that "it's a girl writing about sex!" is something which can be easily, and unfairly, sensationalised. As a boy, I'm expected to be bolshy about sex and talk about it constantly with my male friends. Boys don't do that - genuinely, they don't. It's the lack of conversation I got from my peers which prompted me to start my blog, so perhaps the reaction I get when I tell people - one of polite incredulity - isn't an unexpected one. I don't tend to ask what people think: what am I expecting? Do they suddenly have visions of me with an incredibly overactive sex life, extraordinary fetishes and a predatory attitude? I think that's pretty unlikely. Most people have some degree of sexuality - all I'm doing is talking about it! One thing which does set me apart from other sex bloggers - of any and all genders, including male ones - is that there isn't a lot of kink, BD/SM, or toy reviews. From what I've seen, a lot of boy bloggers review sex toys, are in a D/S relationship (or are part of a couple), are polyamorous or have a particular kink. What sets me apart seems not to be the fact that I'm a boy; it's that I'm vanilla! I'm fine with all these things, by the way, but none of them apply to me! In fact, the reaction from other sex bloggers themselves has been more similar to "what DO you write about?", not having a proclivity to focus on or a niche to carve out. I find that lack of rigidity incredibly freeing, more than anything else - it means I can write about whatever I like, giving my readers (and myself) more of a variety in the sort of content I'm likely to get out. A lot of the best blogs do this - audiences love a wide array of things to keep them entertained. On the other hand, there are bloggers who have told me that they have nothing to write about because they have to write about a specific kink they have, or if they only review toys, or something similar. This often seems to me like it can hold bloggers back - if they're putting pressure on themselves to turn out content they think everyone expects of them, than can be a little dull, and frustrating for the blogger as well, especially if they're just doing it for attention, rather than desire. I've always said: it's your blog, so write what you want, rather than what you think people want! I've never found it difficult to write about sex, to the point of running a session at Eroticon '17 about keeping your blog going. I just click "new post", open the compose window and go! In among all this muddle, one thing I have been asked a fair few times is my opinion on the idea of more men blogging about sex and sexuality. As I've said above, I'm far from being the only male sex blogger out there, but I am one of the more seasoned ones... and I've seen it happen. I've even seen men pose as women because they think they won't be read otherwise. I think it's a positive thing for anyone of any gender to share their views on sexuality - that's what blogs are for, inviting discourse! - but I don't really think gender matters as much as sexuality does. I've seen brave attempts at male sex blogs started by people BECAUSE they are a boy, or IN SPITE OF the fact that they aren't a girl, which really doesn't help! So why don't men write sex blogs? We do! You just need to look... or, better yet, ask! The Big Gay Review – I'm not a sex toy fan, but I love this blog. It's hilarious and informative, and Adam's a great writer. The Sex Experiment – This is a delightfully unconventional take on things, different from anything else. It's not being updated any more, but it's well worth reading through the archive. This D/s Life – This is by Michael (aka Signs), and his cheeky tone adds a wonderful "light side" to the frequently-discussed topic of a D/s relationship.

Both great topics and we have a lot to say on them, but before that it was a great week for rants. Rants Kink.com moving from their famous premises [1.40] Kink.com are one of the major producers of porn in the US. They produce all sorts of weird and wonderful types of porn and employ a large number of people to produce it on a regular basis. They have famously owned the The Armory in San Francisco. Previous a home for the national guard, it is an easily recognisable building. This is an interesting article because it shows there isn't the money in making porn there once was. Kink.com is a large company that makes a lot of content, and has done for a long time. If anyone knows what they are doing it is them. But (and I am seeing this more and more) there is now such easy access to free porn sites like Kink.com are struggling to make it work for them. But there does also seem to be an growing emergence of small independent producers like Pandora Blake who can make a great living catering to a very specific niche (Spanking in Pandora's case). It is going to be interesting to see where this goes. The act of making something with your hands, the repetitive nature of doing the same task again and again, thinking only about what you are working on now. All these things have a wonderfully calming effect on the brain, and provide a wonderful distraction from the every day stresses we all have. It is something we have seen again and again at events when we are crafting with people. After a little while when they have got the hang of what they are doing they go very quiet and simply focus on getting their job done. After they have finished, besides feeling very proud of themselves for making something, they will say they found it a very therapeutic experience. We are just back from Eroticon and it was a lot of fun, but a lot of work. But it was great to catch up with so many of the bloggers and authors we talk to on a regular basis. A huge hand needs to go to Molly, Michael, and Girl on the Net for all the work they put into making Eroticon happen. Rant - Just the one No gays please, we're Christian Drive in theatre in Alabama will NOT be showing the new Disney film "Beauty and the Beast" because the director has said one of the characters (not a main one) is gay. If I can’t sit through a movie with God or Jesus sitting by me then we have no business showing it. I know there will be some that do not agree with this decision. That’s fine. We are first and foremost Christians. We will not compromise on what the Bible teaches. We will continue to show family oriented films so you can feel free to come watch wholesome movies without worrying about sex, nudity, homosexuality and foul language. They make a great point in the article that the theatre is happy to show a film about a Polynesian Demi-God (Moana) and a film glamorising the suicide bombings of government installations (Rogue One). But a film with a gay character... no thank you. Found on IO9 Eroticon There is so much to talk about it is hard to know where to start. The best part of being at the event was getting to meet all the amazing writers and bloggers we work with. We work with so many talented people but a lot of them are either at the other end of the country, or in another country all together. Finally getting meet them face to face makes it so much better. There were so many great people, and I know there are a ton here we have missed off. To being told the women of the company wouldn't get jackets like the men because there weren't enough of them to make it worthwhile. Uber is taking steps to look at what has been said to try and chance the culture. Only time will tell if they can fix the problems. Originally spotted in The Verge Women snaps wing mirror off van [12:54] From the Daily Mail a video shows a woman being catcalled from a van as she waits on her bike at traffic lights. After the van moves away she races after them, and when she catches them she breaks a wing mirror off the vehicle. Fake News - It turns out this isn't actually real, the Huffington Post has revealed this was actually setup by a company in Shoreditch. We asked her to write this article because she is a trained therapist and runs her own fetish training companies. They work with a lot of people on this exact subject to help them understand more about their own desires. What we liked the most was their approach to someone who finds they don't enjoy a fetish. That isn't a negative outcome, that is exactly what they want because it shows someone has realised what THEY want, and is now able to talk about it. that isn't a failure, it is a success. Who is Molly Moore She is a blogger, a photographer, a published author, public speaker, and the operations director for Eroticon. She also living in a 24/7 D/s relationship with her partner DomSigns. She speaks openly about their relationship and has even been on Channel 4 to talk about how it works for them. We have been wanting to get Molly on the show for some time and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it. So what it is realy like being in a 24/7 relationship There is a lot of fantasy around what that sort of relationship must be like, but the reality is something very different. Like all realtionships it takes a lot of work to understand the other person in the relationship before you can even start to dive deep into the Domination and submission that both sides want.
