This month in the Midlife Style School, we are diving into our beliefs about money. Our beliefs are controlling our feelings and relationship of how we spend and save money. Do you ever look around and think, "How do wealthy women manage to always look so amazing?" Well, I have some good news for you, it isn't a secret. In fact, after working with hundreds of midlife women who wanted to feel like high profile millionaires in their lives and professions, it got me thinking about the different techniques they used to get there. And guess what? Now I'm here to share those same tips that can make anyone feel more like an A-Lister! So, if you've been searching how to look ultra chic and polished at any age - then this podcast is definitely for you. I'm sharing 9 ways you can change how you think about money and create the feelings of being wealthy now. I encourage you to pick one or two today and start improving your relationship with money. 1. Find your sense of style: Clothing is a big part of how we present ourselves to the world, and feeling like a wealthy woman means having a style that makes you feel confident and powerful. If you're not sure where to start, try looking for inspiration from well-dressed women in magazines, movies, or even real life. Once you've found some styles you like, invest in a few key pieces that will make you feel like a million bucks every time you put them on. 2. Invest in your home: A comfortable and stylish home is another important part of feeling like a wealthy woman. If your budget allows, splurge on items that will make your home more beautiful and inviting, such as luxurious bedding, artworks, or designer furniture. Even if you can't afford to go all-out, small changes like adding fresh flowers or scented candles can make a big difference in how your home feels. 3. Take care of your appearance: Whether it's getting regular haircuts and manicures or investing in good skincare products, taking care of your appearance is important for feeling wealthy. It's also worth noting that first impressions matter—so if you're meeting someone for business or pleasure, make sure you look your best. 4. Develop a taste for the finer things: From gourmet food and wine to high-end fashion and travel, there are many aspects of a wealthy lifestyle that revolve around enjoying the finer things in life. If you want to feel like a wealthy woman, start by treating yourself to occasional indulgences—you deserve it! 5. Be generous: One of the best ways to feel like a wealthy woman is to give back to others less fortunate than yourself. Whether you volunteer your time at a local nonprofit or simply donate money to causes you care about, giving back will make you feel good about yourself—and it's also one of the most philanthropic things you can do. 6. Pamper yourself: In addition to taking care of your appearance, it's important to pamper yourself on a regular basis—after all, wealthy women know how to treat themselves right! Whether it's getting massages or facials on a regular basis or simply taking some time out for yourself each day to relax and rejuvenate, making sure you take care of yourself both physically and mentally is key to feeling like a wealthy woman. 7. Live below your means: One common trait among wealthy people is that they live below their means—in other words, they don't spend all of their money on unnecessary luxuries but instead save and invest it wisely. If you want to feel like a wealthy woman, follow suit by evaluating your spending habits and looking for ways to cut back on unnecessary expenses. You may be surprised at how much money you can save by making small changes to your spending habits! 8. Invest in experiences: Instead of spending your money on material possessions, invest in experiences that will enrich your life—such as travel, learning new skills, or attending cultural events. These types of experiences are often more rewarding than simply buying things, and they'll help you create lasting memories that are far more valuable than any material item. 9. surround yourself with positive people: Wealthy people tend to surround themselves with other positive, successful people—so if you want to feel like a wealthy woman, make an effort to do the same. Spend time with friends who support and inspire you, join groups or organizations where successful women congregate, and attend events where you can meet other like-minded individuals. By surrounding yourself with positive role models, you'll naturally start thinking and behaving like them—which will only help increase your own wealth over time! Elena Lister, MD, and Michael Schwartzman, PhD are co-authors of the book “Giving Hope: Conversations with Children about Illness, Death, and Loss”, a guide to help parents have tough conversations with their children regarding heavy topics. The two met when Dr. Lister was called to be a grief consultant at the school where Dr. Schwartzman was serving as a consulting psychologist. After meeting, they began to combine their years of experience to create a book together. Dr. Lister has been a child psychiatrist for over 35 years. She began advocating for families who are navigating death and loss after losing her own daughter to leukemia. Dr. Lister is also the author of the book “I Will Remember You”, which helps adolescents work through their emotions when dealing with the death of a loved one. Dr. Schwartzman helps children, adults, and couples through his private practice in New York. The two authors combine their expertise to share resources and tools for families to have real and honest conversations on loss. In today's episode of Conversations on Healing, host Shay Beider talks with Dr. Lister and Dr. Schwartzman as they share how their professional paths crossed, leading to the creation of the book “Giving Hope.” They explain the importance of telling children the truth regarding death and how this can be used as an opportunity for children to increase trust and feel safe. They explain how to begin these conversations in order to create an open and continuous dialogue. Dr. Lister explains some of our cultural influences and how they create a stigma around the natural phenomenon of death and dying. Working through this conversation with children allows them to be able to move through their grief and grow personal resilience. Additionally, the guests offer advice on how to navigate the difficult conversation of suicide with children and how to handle their tough questions. This episode offers a plethora of advice and tools for parents and families who might be experiencing some of life's most difficult moments. On this week's episode, we look at our second "Lister's Choice" and a record that we were for the most part sadly unaware of: the 1994 studio debut by Jeff Buckley - Grace. Jeff Buckley's career was brief, but brilliant. The son a famed singer/songwriter Tim Buckley, he worked as a session guy before making people really take notice at a New York tribute concert in his dad's honor. Jeff unfortunately followed in his father's footsteps by dying too young, with a brilliant career ahead of him. His lone studio recording, Grace, showcases his songwriting, his guitar playing, and his unbelievably rich voice and heartbreaking falsetto. The songs drift and float with the aid of Buckley's remarkable band and lush production. Released during the height of the country's obsession with Grunge, even though it famously contains the quintessential version of Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah, Grace was sadly underappreciated upon its release. Thankfully it has gained well-deserved accolades in subsequent years. We lost this artist way too soon, but he did leave behind an album that is not only considered by many to be one of the best albums released in 1990s, but also one with timeless staying power.

This episode was so insightful for my parenting journey, and I'm sure it will be for yours too. Not only do we cover grieving in children, but we also discuss how death can be something difficult for adults too.
