Friday January 20, 2017 in Melbourne’s CBD. Bustling Bourke Street became the scene of unspeakable horror. Six people were killed, 27 others suffered horrific injuries when James Gargasoulas – high on drugs – deliberately drove his car through a crowd of shoppers. Chris Mirabile's journey into health and longevity began with a preteen's desire to impress girls during school fitness tests—but quickly evolved into something deeper. By age 12, Chris was reading Men's Health, refining his diet, and obsessing over performance, though he later realized much of his early approach to health was misguided. At 16, his life took a dramatic turn when he suffered a seizure during a school field trip and was diagnosed with a large brain tumor. Emergency brain surgery saved his life, but the experience left a lasting impression, igniting a relentless drive to understand human biology and wellness. Though he studied finance and entrepreneurship at NYU, Chris immersed himself in scientific research, especially in bio-gerontology—the biology of aging. Long before it was a buzzword, he was poring over PubMed studies, using genetic testing tools, and analyzing his own DNA to uncover predispositions that might have contributed to his tumor. After early success and eventual failure with a social media startup, Chris doubled down on his passion for health optimization. He founded Novos, a company dedicated to slowing the aging process through science-backed supplements and nutrition, collaborating with researchers from institutions like Harvard, MIT, and the Salk Institute. Today, Chris combines rigorous science with real-world application. He launched NovoScore, a daily supplement targeting all 12 known mechanisms of aging, and developed a science-forward meal replacement bar that emphasizes longevity-promoting ingredients over trendy marketing. Through Novos and his personal platform SlowMyAge, Chris educates others on optimizing biological age, drawing from cutting-edge research in omics sciences and data-driven health tracking. With over 10 million supplement doses taken and partnerships expanding, Chris's mission is clear: to empower people to live longer, healthier, and more vibrant lives through informed, evidence-based choices.

Send us a textJudgment, for better or worse, is one of our most prominent human conditions. When we judge ourselves, the people we love, and the processes we build as a society, we can't see what's really important. None of us are immune to judgment, but we must develop the ability to shed judgment as quickly as possible and move toward solutions. Judgment can be a detrimental and unforgivable waste of time when our priority should be the life of someone we love. Parenting Your Child in Recovery

Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: Continuing in our “Sacred Scar Story Series,” in this episode I chatted with Veronica Sites, who shared about the pain and wounds she endured that culminated in her believing the lies that she would be better off dead. She attempted to eliminate her life, but God had other plans. Now she shares the sacred scar that God is using to educate the church and leaders about how to respond in such a mental health crisis. Quotables from the episode: If you have ever experienced depression or anxiety, or suffered the loss of a friend or loved one to death by suicide, then today is the perfect show for you. My guest today, Veronica Sites, is a first response crisis chaplain. She grew up in a family of first responders. And sadly, she lost a family member to death by suicide. This experience caused a shift in how she responded in such situations. But she also experienced some tragic life experiences which brought her to the point that she began to believe some lies that took her down the path to attempting to end her own life by suicide. When she woke up, she told a friend, “The Lord is going to use this for His glory. You just watch.” And that is what has happened, as she now serves as a first response crisis chaplain, and she tries to educate about suicide prevention. I no longer believe that my previous suicide attempt is my identity. I am first and foremost a child of God. My painful wounds that led to my desperation also made me forgiving and more merciful. Healing my wounds has caused me to have greater compassion and empathy for others who suffer. The enemy is relentless to get us to take his bait. Once I regained consciousness, I became angry that I believed the enemy's lies. Victory is in the vulnerability with the Victor. The most unhealed wounds are usually the invisible ones. God can be trusted with our vulnerability. Our painful wounds can be both destructive and productive. We get to choose what result they will have by how we respond to our hurts. Can we listen to others as if there is something to learn? Each week, we've explored wellness from different perspectives, but we haven't talked about what it means to live a full life while grappling with the real possibility of death. Most of us hope for a full, long life with “good” health. But a serious, possibly fatal diagnosis changes everything: Our relationships with work, loved ones, and even the way we see ourselves. On this week's episode of Well, Now we speak with author, journalist, and artist Suleika Jaouad. Many learned about her work in the Oscar-nominated documentary American Symphony – which chronicled her marriage to musician Jon Baptiste as his career soared and her leukemia re-emerged. But Suleika began documenting illness and identity long before starring in an award-winning film.
