(This podcast was previously published on February 2, 2021)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...    No one knows the exact day or hour that Jesus will return.  But Peter tells us we must be ready continually for Jesus' return.   2 Peter 3:10-14   But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.   11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,   12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?   13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.   14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.   Throughout each day of our lives on this present earth we must live in peace, without spot and blameless.   How we can do that?   (Discussed on this Podcast.)   *****   The first thing we should do is meditate on 2 Peter 3:14 until it becomes real in our daily lives that it causes us to conform our actions on this earth to living this scripture and allowing it to rule over that which we do throughout each day.   14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless.   ***   We must come to understand that this world and the things of this world are "temporary".  And we must learn that our kingdom is not of this world.   Everything that we can see with our natural eye will be destroyed by God at the end of this world.   The only way we can live continually, daily in peace is by doing the following scripture:   Philippians 4:6-7   Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.   7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (The Word).   This means when trouble comes, call on God for help.   When there is any concern at all, turn to God in prayer and let your request be made unto God.   If we have any dread about tomorrow, stop and pray to God.   ***   Jesus says:   Luke 21   33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but MY words shall not pass away.   34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting (over indulgence), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.   35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.   36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.   Watch:   Be careful about how you are living each day.  If you become angry with someone, turn to God immediately.  Ask God to help you.  Let God settle you quickly.  Let not the sun go down on your wrath.   Do not follow thoughts of devils.  For he comes to steal, to kill, to destroy.  Be sure the ideas you follow are from God.   James 3:17   But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.   ***   Recently I stumbled into someone's sins.  It wasn't until I finished talking by phone with this person that I realized what I had done.  I also opened the door myself for trouble by sending him a "friendly" email.  He called me and began discussing his adult aged children with me.   After I finished the phone call, I felt a little strange.  All through the phone call I kept holding back from wishing the son and daughter well.  It was like the Spirit of God was stopping me.  Then after the phone call I realized this man's son has been committing fornication for at least 3 years with a girlfriend.  These people identify themselves as Catholic.  I did not warn them about fornication.  The Holy Spirit did not bring the subject of fornication into my mind so I think the door on that subject must be closed by God.   (About 20 years ago, I spoke to this man concerning the sin of fornication which he was committing with his girlfriend when his two children were approximately 9 and 13 years old.  His life is a tragedy.  His wife was a lesbian and it is my understanding that she left with her "lover" and he raised his two children.)   I did repent and ask God to forgive me two days later when I realized what had happened.  I was very sorry for opening the door by sending that friendly email.   James 4:4  Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.   *** We can lose reward in heaven by being friendly or by wishing evil doers well.   II John   8  Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.   9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.   10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:   11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.   ***   One good thing that did come forth as I spoke to this man:   He inquired about Pam Padgett and he said how glad he was I was living with Pam.   I replied:  "It's wonderful because Pam is a very godly person and she doesn't trouble me.  When there is a problem Pam prays, and when she hears from God, she does what God says and that problem is taken care of through what God tells her to do.  Then after God has shown her what to do, she might tell me so I can also delight in what God has said to her."   It is possible that this information pricked this man's heart for he had just been telling me his problems,   We must be diligent to "watch ourselves", what we are doing.  The people are often doing things that are unthinkable to godly people, even when they are attending a church.   ***   A few months ago, God gave me a dream.  Some very dirty cats kept getting in my house.  I would get them out of my house only to find they were back in my house.  God showed me I was opening the door to them by being friendly.   We "invite" people into our lives by our friendly emails or phone calls.  Then we wish evil doers well in their fornication with their "girl friends" and in their denial of God as they cast aside scripture.  (Often they attend some church while doing these sins.)   Then we wish them well as we make "friendly" inquiries about their godless children who are doing godless things.  And as we make inquiries, we open doors for the stories of their filthy way of life and the filthy way of life of their children.  Then we are troubled.  Often we have brought their trouble on ourselves.   We must stop doing this if we desire to serve God and hope for a full reward from God.   We can repent and be forgiven and be careful in future concerning opening doors for evil doers in churches to tell us their sins and to tell us of the sins of their own children, making us a part of the sin.   I Timothy 5:22  Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.   Thus Jesus says "Watch yourselves, what you do."  (Luke 21:36)   And if we do choose to hear of their evil, usually the Holy Spirit will have us correct them, speaking to them the way of life.   In this case, the Holy Spirit did not have me bring correction to this man but after the phone call, the Holy Spirit showed me that I had opened the door for evil to come into my own life and I repented and asked for God to forgive me.   Hopefully I will be more alert as to what I am doing as I go forward.  (I usually am alert and avoid the evil that can come from people through my questions about their lives.  But this time I slipped.)   Proverbs 10:19   In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.   ***   James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.   Let God be our Lord by turning to HIM rather than to other people.   ***   James 3   14  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.   15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.   16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.   17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.   18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.   ***   Matthew 11  Jesus says:   29 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.   29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.   30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.   Pray:   Be connected throughout the day with God through prayer.   Prayer is the only way we connect with God, for as we take each concern to God in prayer and hear from God and do what God says, making ourselves worthy to escape that which is coming upon this present world.   Jesus says the following to the church:   Revelation 3:5   He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.   We "overcome" as we seek the will of God in the midst of the problem and hear from God and follow what God says to do.  By this, we connect ourselves to God.

He rejoices that some of them are living according to the truth, just as the Father commanded. He reminds them of the old command to love one another and explains that love is demonstrated through obedience to God's commands. John warns against deceivers who do not acknowledge that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. Such individuals are identified as antichrists. He encourages believers to be careful and not lose what they have worked for, but to remain faithful so they may receive a full reward. Anyone who does not remain in the teaching of Christ does not have God. John concludes with hope to visit soon and encourages ongoing fellowship and faithfulness.  We are encouraged to stay grounded in both truth and love. Knowing what is right isn't enough; we are called to live it out each day. Loving one another shows that we belong to God and are walking in His light. At the same time, we must be cautious of false teachings that seek to distort the truth about Jesus. (This podcast was previously recorded and published on October 24, 2020)   Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ...    In 2016, I was watching TV and happened upon the Democratic National Convention.  As they showed the delegates, the cameras viewed in on a woman.  Something seemed wrong.  She was wearing a dress.  She had on heels and women's jewelry.  She wore a woman's make-up.  Then I realized she was a man dressed as a woman!  A slight beard had begun to appear on her face.  I was very shocked!   Somehow seeing this man dressed as a woman at a political convention showed me how very evil the world of politics is today.    A Christian could not be a part of being involved in such worldly evil.    The Bible says the following concerning homosexuals and lesbians.   Romans 1:24-28   Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.   For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.   And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;   As a Christian, we cannot participate in anything that is contrary to Bible for the apostle John says to approve such and wish them well would be to make ourselves as a participant in their evil deeds.   II John   8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.   9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.   10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:   11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.   Politics in every way is filled with hatred and will cause the Christian to hate and to fight the other party.   And we must abstain from those things which cause us to hate.   To vote for either party is to approve worldly men who do evil things.   Instead, the apostle Paul says to pray for those in authority.   I Timothy 2:1-2  I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.   If we learn to hate the other political party, how can we pray for those in authority if they win the election?   As Christians we are separated from the work of worldly men and women.  We live in this world but are not of this world.  Our goal is to live in peace, without spot and blameless in the sight of God, as we wait for Jesus who takes us out of this world and takes us to the new heaven and new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.  (II Peter 3:14 & Revelation 21:21-5)   We cannot be a part of politics and vote for men of this world allowing ourselves to be a part of their evil.   This is explained in this podcast.    *****   I Thessalonians 5   1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.   2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.   3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.   4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.   5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.   6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.   7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.   8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.   9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,   10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.   11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.   ***   * "Peace and safety "   In the 1960's in Texas if a homosexual was caught, he was put in prison.  It was against the law to be homosexual in Texas.   Today homosexuals are safe in USA as never before.  They have to be saying "peace & safety" as never before.   Homosexuals and lesbians can even draw benefits from USA government as married couples.   They are protected in their jobs in USA.  People are forbidden in the work force today to speak that which the Bible says about homosexuals and lesbians.   The leaders of the Catholic church have publicly accepted same sex marriages.   Nothing can touch homosexuals and lesbians today ... except for God!   Adultery and fornication, sex outside of marriage between men and women, is often approved and protected in USA.  Adultery and fornication approved and accepted by society as "normal".  We are rarely shocked by anything today for it appears over and over before our eyes.   The churches invite all to come to church.   The doctrines of Christ have been silenced and removed in the church groups so no one will be offended in their various sins which are approved at the churches.   All is well!   A time of "peace and safety" ... surely we draw nearer to the coming wrath of God, the great tribulation (Revelation 8-16), upon this earth and the removal of the godly from this earth.   Jesus says:   Matthew 24   21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.   29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:   30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.   31 And HE (Jesus) shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.   II Peter 3   10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.   11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,   12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? In the coming weeks at our services, we are going to focus attention on the Spirit of God, as he is revealed in the Hebrew Scriptures. It is interesting to note that while he is spoken of in both the Hebrew Scriptures and New Testament writings, reference to the Spirit of God is not as pervasive in the Hebrew Scriptures ashhe is in the texts of the New Testament.For example, the Spirit of God is mentioned in every New Testament book with the exception of the three short personal letters of Philemon,  II John,  and III John. On the other hand, He is only referred to in less than half of the thirty-nine books that make up the Hebrew Scriptures. We are first introduced to the Spirit of God in the opening verses of the Bible which records the creation of the universe. There He is called רוּחַ אֱלֹהִים (pronounced ruach elohim) meaning "the Spirit of God."Depending upon the context, the Hebrew word ruach can be translated as "spirit," "wind" or "breath." Here in Genesis chapter 1, reference is to the third person of the Tri-unity who is described like that of a bird "brooding" on its nest.The Hebrew term translated as "hovering," or "moving" is מְרַחֶפֶת (pronounced m'rachephet) meaning "to flutter," or "brood." As such, the Spirit of God is pictured as a brooding bird conveying life and providing protection to its young.In a word, this is "regeneration" - the bringing about of life. In the context of creation, that which was initially formless, void and in darkness comes to life over the course of the six days of creation.Regeneration is a gift of the Spirit of God in two senses. It is a gift from God as well as a gift of God. This is to say regeneration is a work of God in us by him. Paul explains: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8).We do not save ourselves. He saves us. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.     1 Corinthians 7:10-11  And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, (this is a commandment of the Lord) Let not the wife depart from her husband:   11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.      Romans 1-3  Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?   2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.   3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.     Matthew 5:32  But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.     Mark 10:11-12  And HE (Jesus) saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.   12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.      Romans 1:26-27  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:   27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.      1 Corinthians 6:9-11    Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,   10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.   11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.      Ephesians 4:8, 11-12  Wherefore HE saith, When HE ascended up on high, HE led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.   11 And HE gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;   12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:     Titus 3:10-11  A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;   11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Cinematographer John Mathieson, BSC began his career shooting music videos for bands like Nirvana and Hole, moving into documentaries and commercials before working in feature films. Rather than going to film school, he joined friends who formed a film collective and everyone learned from each other. Director Ridley Scott saw his work on the movie, Plunkett & Macleane, and approached him to shoot Gladiator. “I never thought I'd be the sword and sandals guy,” says John. “I was doing grunge videos!” John was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for Gladiator. For Gladiator II, John embraced the advancements in visual effects technology, which allowed for more efficient and creative storytelling. While the film was shot digitally, his approach to cinematography remained similar to the first film. “We didn't do much different with the cameras or the language of the story,” he says, “but parts of the filmmaking process have gotten faster and easier. We shot on digital in about half the time it took to shoot Gladiator.” John focused on creating a visually striking world in Gladiator II, inspired by historical paintings and the contrasting environments of Rome and the desert. He wanted high contrast lighting, especially in the desert scenes at the beginning of the film and in the gladiator arena so that it looked dusty, hot, and overexposed. In contrast, the light inside the Roman homes is warmer and richer. John describes it as, “Everything's got dust and then Rome is colorful, opulent- grapes, wine, peacock greens, paisleys, fabrics, all that kind of decadence-it's camp, it's vulgar, it's Vegas 1970.” When choosing projects, John prioritizes scripts that resonate with him and directors who can effectively guide the filmmaking process. He enjoys exploring and working in different film genres. “I like to think I don't have a style, you know, that I can adapt to what is on the page or what is important,” he says.
