Hello Wasterlanders and happy new year. In all of the travel and holidays over the Christmas period I didn't get my script finished for the next mainline episode. I hope to have it out before the end of the month but in the meantime you I have put together the audio from a Co-operative play of Fallout2D20 it did with Thomas on his YT channel Board Games With Thomas. We had a blast and I got to test out a new character who will be very important in the second season of the show ;) Hope you enjoy! [NOTE: The first 20 mins this ep was up the music track hadn't bounced properly... so if you listened and it was weirdly silent, that's why. Its now been fixed] Welcome back to A Wasteland story. Our tale picks up after SosKaid and Dogmeat managed to sneak into an NCR outpost, meet a scientist who could help with the FEV plot back in Nuark. Upon returning to her new brotherhood allies however she found them gone...well two of the three. One of them wasnt gone because he was dead on the ground, the only trace of the others a bloody dragmark into the forest. SosKaid and Dogmeat set off to try and find out what happened. Hello and Welcome Back to another episode of A Wasteland Story. In this episode of the show we continue the story of our Heroine SosKaid and her trusty companion DogMeat as they head back out in the wastes to try and find the Brotherhood of Steel, hoping that they will help her upset Wrights plot in NuArk. Filled with intrigue, dice rolls, twists and/or turns, violence, swearing and a very good boy indeed, this episode has everything you expected and more from one of the countless procedurally driven narrative audio drama set in the fallout universe. Hello and welcome back to A Wasteland Story. The procedurally generated audio drama where we aren't at all afraid to kill off very potentially important characters and relationships at the drop of a dice. After one such important character was gunned down in the last episode, the heroine of NuArk turned scapegoat, SosKaid finds herself locked up in a tiny cell awaiting a breakout. Can she trust Youthful Corey to crack her out of there like an accidentally mutated extra rib? Or is there more betrayal on the horizon ?(almost definitely) And after all is said and done....who's a good boy? - PJ You can get in touch with me on: awastelandstorypodcast@gmail.com Links & Recs If you would like to check out the Fallout 2D20 system for yourself you can visit the Modiphius website. [EDITORS NOTE: If you listened to this on the first day of release you may have noticed there were some mutations in the audio. Thanks so much to those who reached out and warned me of the dangerous infection, the issues have since been obliterated and fixed.] Hello and welcome back to A Wasteland Story. Episode 4 continues the story of our heroine SosKaid in the aftermath of the attack on NuArk. She's a star, a hero, and praised by the people as their saviour?....surely not. Also I am proud to announce that I have launched a new show where I interview some of the significant individuals and content creators that helped get me into the hobby. SosKaid finds herself in charge of the defence of the small settlement NuArk with not enough resources or time to properly reinforce their position. The incoming Mutant attack is imminent and she must work with the local people to scrape together whatever they can to give them the best chance of avoiding the inside of a squishy Mutant gore-bag. Here they come... What's that beeping sound? Join me and roll the dice for episode 3 of A Wasteland Story to continue the lonely journey of our heroine SosKaid as she struggles to find out what happened to her family, what's going on with the FEV, and how the hell is she going to make it all the way to Vancouver when she keeps getting caught up in dangerous and unexpected plots along the way in this narrative meets actual play solo-rpg fallout podcast. After very nearly escaping that damn facility building in the last episode, SosKaid finds herself hiding once more, this time from the Brotherhood of Steel. In doing so she accidentally learns of a far greater threat to the wasteland than even raiders. And to add insult to injury (fair warning for some filthy raider insults in this ep) the lives of an entire nearby village will be forfeit if she can't get there in time to warn them of their impending doom. Oh and there is a raider under a bridge...obviously. Whatever will the dice do this time? Our story begins in one of the dilapidated West-Tek Facility buildings somewhere on the west coast of the wasteland. SosKaid finds herself in fact, not dead, which comes as a bit of a surprise. She isn't so sure however that she can say the same for the young Brotherhood Initiate and the twisted security bot who are awkwardly intertwined not inches from her trembling foot. She has to get out of here... After months of theorizing, the answers are here. Bethesda is officially joined up with Xbox. The results? More exclusives, 20 Bethesda games on Xbox Game Pass, and a summer event teased for this year. The potential of IP and technology combinations between all 23 of these first party studios leaves a lot for us to dream up. Age Of Empires: Tamriel? What of Fallout Tactics? A Halo spin-off by iD Software? The ideas roll on and Matty and Karak have plenty of them. Sifting through months of dialogue, they break it all down! Plus, more on Dying Light 2. Recently, a large expose` broke citing major development issues for the game as well as much of its staff exiting. Now, the developer has spoke and they are asking for our attention in the coming week. Will it be another delay? We investigate! That plus Square Enix Presents and YOUR Patron questions! Gary and Kole give six old games a second thought, making a case for why they are either hidden gems or unfairly maligned classics. Become a Patron! The Joker film performed by Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant. We enjoyed this character film, and how it is a movie that makes the viewer question what happened in the movie hours later. Joker is the high for us this week, and companies such as Electronic Arts never disappoints in providing the lows points to cover. Let us talk about what happened this week! Geek News Spiderman is Back in Disney's MCU There were questions about if Sony would permanently keep Spiderman away from Disney after initial negotiations fell through. As of the airing of this episode, Disney and Sony have come to agreements, and Spiderman will continue to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though we have slight skepticism on how Phase 4 will perform, we are excited that Tom Holand will continue to be a favorite web-slinging character in the MCU. Star Wars Trailer Reminds Us of the Better Films As Jon and I sat in the theater to watch Joker, we watched the trailer for Episode 9 of the Star Wars Saga. What amused us the most is that the trailer highlights all the other good Star Wars movies. It seems that they were attempting to get the viewer nostalgic to encourage them to watch Episode 9. We can't speak for everybody, but the trailer did not have the intended effect on us. The trailer made us excited about watching all the old films again, and not bothering with Episode 9. Video Game News Switch Lite Nintendo has released the Switch Lite, and Jon and I have been able to test run the console. It feels great in our hands, and the picture quality is sharp. Although the text is small on the screen. It is official; the Switch Lite has put the Nintendo 3DS to rest. At the price point of $200, it seems like a great console for the family. EA Switch FIFA Legacy Under Delivers Electronic Arts is notorious about not supporting or underdelivering their games to Nintendo Consoles. It seems that the Switch does not match their goals for monetizing their audience. This lack of support is apparent with every game they put in a sub-par effort in releasing to the Switch. The current example of this is FIFA Legacy 20. EA Data Breach of 1600 FIFA 20 Players In this age, data breaches seem to be inevitable in these digital times. However, their destructive effects should not be understated. EA's data breach connected with FIFA 20 is a significant misstep for the corporation. Instead of players successfully signing up for the FIFA 20 competitive circuit, they instead were given other player's information. The corporation is under constant scrutiny due to their unscrupulous microtransaction practices in the games they publish. EA can not afford to be known as the company that also has data breaches. Fallout Legacy Collection - Only for Germany and the United Kingdom The German Amazon website leaked the future Fallout collection. The collection includes Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition, and Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition. This excellent collection worth hours of play will be sold at €40, which is roughly $43. Disappointingly, this Fallout Legacy Collection will only be sold in Germany and the United Kingdom. We are not sure if this a test run that will eventually come to the States, or it will only stay in Europe. Only time will tell. PlayStation Now is Reduced in Price Streaming services are being positioned to be the primary way gamers engage with their games. Services such as Google Stadia are hoping to capitalize on this developing trend. However, Sony appears to be positioned their services to compete with Stadia. They have reduced the price of the service by $10, making it $10 per month. Sony has an excellent chance of undercutting Google Stadia due to the extensive catalog of games Sony has. Showstopper Joker is an exceptional film that people should go and see. However, if you haven't seen the movie and want to stay spoiler-free, then go from 1:45:10 to 2:19:48. It is a film that is begging to be rewatched. There were incredible insights into mental illness and how extreme social isolation effects people. One of the things we couldn't believe is how people were trying to insinuate this movie would incite violence. People rage that the film shouldn't have been created because of being "insensitive." This film, to us, is the definition of art. If this type of art is not allowed to be created, then how can we explore these topics. What are your thoughts on the Joker film? Thank You For Listening! Time for episode 43 where I'll be talking about a group of WWII flight sims from Lucasarts, Battlehawks 1942, Their Finest Hour: Battle of Britain and Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. As always though, the news: 7th Guest 3: The Collector has restarted a new crowd funding campaign with a more reasonable goal. Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics have been removed from both GoG and Steam due to rights transfer. Wired.co.uk did a great interview with the managing director of GoG.com. Stardock has announced they are actively working on a new Star Control game. We then get to the main topic, the Lucasarts flight sims. We have a great discussion of the history of these three games plus one more I hadn't heard of. Next time, I'll be talking RTS with Dune. Enjoy!
