Welcome to The Hawthorns Debate Club – A West Brom Podcast with Jamie Clay, Joe Clay, Alex Collins, and Tom Goffe. Finally — a win. Albion's first victory of 2026, and what a way to do it. A dominant 3–0 performance against Hull saw the Baggies absolutely maul the Tigers, with a display full of energy, structure, and intent that's been missing for far too long.In this episode, we break down what's changed. Has Morrison galvanised the squad? Is there finally a clear shape and identity emerging? Do we owe it all to Mike Bassett's 442? For the first time in weeks, there's a sense of belief creeping back in — and suddenly, the future doesn't look quite so bleak. We discuss whether this is the real turning point or just a much-needed release, and what Albion need to do next to build on this momentum.Thank you for listening to the podcast — please like, subscribe, and share!Twitter: @HawthornsClubInstagram: thehawthornsdebateclub
After a comprehensive win over Wrexham midweek, City were brought back down to earth after a comprehensive defeat to West Brom. The Gang discuss a mixed week before looking ahead to a clash with already relegated Sheffield Wednesday next Saturday. Oh, and they ask the stupid question of "Have we bottled the playoffs?" (we survived relegation on the final day last season and we're under a transfer restriction, the fact we're even in this position is a huge success, as would 7th be, so stop being so bloody fickle City fans.) Southampton rescued a dramatic late point at The Hawthorns as Cyle Larin's stoppage-time header secured a 1-1 draw with West Brom and extended Saints' unbeaten run to eleven matches in all competitions. After the high of knocking Fulham out of the FA Cup just days earlier, Saints struggled for rhythm against a well-organised West Brom side and spent much of the evening looking short of energy and attacking ideas. The result keeps Southampton three points behind Wrexham with ten games remaining in the promotion race, but it also felt like a missed opportunity to tighten the play-off picture. There was also concern over Leo Scienza, who was forced off in the first half with what appeared to be a groin injury – a potential blow to Saints' attacking options if he misses upcoming fixtures. On this week's podcast, the panel analyse whether the late point was valuable or frustrating, discuss the impact of Saints' squad rotation after the FA Cup win over Fulham, and debate whether Cyle Larin should now be leading the line more regularly.Attention then turns to Saturday's huge away trip to league leaders Coventry City, as Southampton attempt to maintain momentum and keep their promotion hopes alive heading into the final stretch of the season.
