Vor 20 Jahren am 23. April wurde das erste Video auf YouTube hochgeladen. In dieser Spezial-Ausgabe des YouTube Creator Podcasts, anlässlich des 20. YouTube-Geburtstags, sprechen wir mit einer absoluten YouTube-Legende: Felix von der Laden, der seit bald 14 Jahren auf der Plattform aktiv ist. YouTube Pressesprecher Georg Nolte traf Felix für ein tiefes Gespräch über seine beeindruckende Reise. Felix startete seinen Kanal "Dner MC" mit nur 16 Jahren aus Langeweile in der Schulzeit. Sein erstes Video war ein Minecraft Tutorial. Der Gaming-Name "Dner" entstand zufällig bei einer LAN-Party . Anfänglich nur ein Hobby, war ein erster Wendepunkt der Tag, an dem er sein Abiturzeugnis und gleichzeitig 100.000 Abonnenten erhielt – ein Zeichen, dass YouTube relevant sein könnte. Nach dem Abitur zog Felix nach Köln , begann Medienwirtschaft zu studieren (schloss nicht ab) und machte ein Praktikum bei Christoph Krachten für die Videodays. Er war der zweite Mitarbeiter der Videodays 2013. Ende 2013/Anfang 2014 zog Felix ins berühmte "YouTube Haus" in Köln mit Simon Unge, Taddel, Adi, Rewi, Paluten und weiteren Creatorn. Diese Zeit von anderthalb Jahren beschreibt er als die coolste seiner Laufbahn, in der das Hobby zum Beruf wurde und sie gemeinsam Spaß hatten und wuchsen. Eine "absolute Schnapsidee" aus dem YouTube Haus war die Longboard Tour. Trotz minimaler Vorbereitung, täglichem Filmen/Schneiden und Stürzen, schlossen sich ihnen täglich mehr Fans an. Felix reflektiert den besonderen Zusammenhalt unter den frühen YouTubern: Sie waren alle "positiv verrückt." Felix' Content-Strategie basiert auf seiner Leidenschaft: Er macht Videos über Themen, die ihn begeistern . Das führte ihn vom Gaming zu Reisevlogs (USA Roadtrip) und schließlich zum Motorsport mit dem Projekt "Von Null auf Rennfahrer", das er über YouTube finanzierte. Er erklärt die Entscheidung, seinen Gaming-Content auf einen zweiten Kanal auszulagern (750k Abonnenten), um sich auf dem Hauptkanal (3,2 Millionen Abonnenten) auf andere Themen zu konzentrieren. Zur Monetarisierung sagt Felix, dass früher hauptsächlich AdSense (Werbeeinnahmen von YouTube) zählte, während heute integrierte Werbepartnerschaften an erster Stelle stehen. Merritt talks about the way LAN (Local Area Networks) influenced gaming culture and the industry at large, as well as the aesthetics associated with the LAN party – from skate clothes and rubber soled sneakers to fast food and energy drinks that are banned across most of Europe. Jim Rutledge and Matt Hamilton continue into the After Dark portion of Phish Friday, and they react to a clip from Stephen A. Smith about who on the Bucks has the most pressure to win a Championship this season: Giannis, Dame, or Doc Rivers? Jim and Matt each chime in with their take on who's under the most pressure, Jim references the complex coaching situation/debacle that brought Doc to the Bucks mid-season, and Primetime brings down the vibes with some Doomsday thoughts about what might happen if they don't make a deep playoff run. Prime then brings things BACK to a high note during Poll Dancing, going deeper into poll questions about the new Giannis: The Marvelous Journey documentary and if Ben Brust was secretly a loser in high school for never going out to party. Matt defends his version of *cool* partying in high school by explaining video-game LAN parties to old, judgemental Jim.

For episode 42 Marcus is once again the arbiter, and for the first time assigns an anime that's still airing!
