Ray and Faye Copeland were a couple trying to make ends meet in the 1980s. At this point in their lives, the couple were in the 70s and they were struggling. Ray, a career thief who made a living by stealing livestock and had been caught so many times, was banned from cattle livestock. Ray then decided to devise a much more devious plan to make money. Gdy śledczy przybyli, by przeszukać farmę, Ray Copeland powiedział do nich: „U mnie nic nie znajdziecie”.

Do you ever feel threatened by old people? Maybe you should! This week's episode is all about murderous senior citizens! First, Anna gives a rundown on why old people might choose to kill, and Benton tells the sordid tale of Tamara Samsonova, the cannibalistic, real life Baba Yaga of Russia. Then, Anna lays out the gory details of murderous couple Ray and Faye Copeland. Finally, the two watch a documentary about the classic case of the killer landlady, Dorothea Puente. Our TV doc this week is Episode 1 of Worst Roommate Ever on Netflix, "Call Me Grandma".
Ray and Faye Copeland seemed like your average couple living a simple life on their farm. As they got older, they hired labor to help them keep up with the chores which didn't seem unusual. What was unusual was when their hired help began disappearing. This week Caitlin tells us about Ray and Faye Copeland. Mostly Ray, who was something of a flimflamming con of a man. Ray Copeland was the kind of man who lived by the rule, if you want it, take it. And he did. All the time. Known for stealing livestock in the early 60’s, he spent his time while incarcerated, coming up with new ways to forge checks and pilfer livestock—ways that meant someone would have to die. By the time his scheme was discovered, five men would be dead. And Ray and his wife Faye, aged 76 and 69, would both be sentenced to death. This is Ray and Faye Copeland. Ray and Faye Copeland are known today as the oldest couple ever sentenced to death in the United States. Their crimes took place between 1986 and 1989, when drifters who worked on the Copeland's farm began to disappear without a trace. These drifters were used by Ray Copeland, a lifelong swindler, in an elaborate cattle buying scam that went on for years. Once the usefulness of these drifters was determined to have reached its end by Ray, he would kill them and bury them on nearby properties. In the first episode of our returning Deadly Love series, we look at the alleged crimes of Ray and Faye Copeland. In Episode 37 Gemma and Holly discuss the surprising stories of elderly people who commit murder. Gemma covers the oldest couple put on death row for murder, Ray and Faye Copeland, while Holly discusses the tragic case of 100 year old Michael Juskin. This week the girls go back to an earlier episode to figure out why listeners are yelling at them, talk about the relative temperature of soup (a lot), Gemma decides she doesn't want Producer Craig to kill her with an ax, and Holly clarifies which bullet Gemma would not want to be shot with. For the sake of her face.Production, recording and technical science things all completed by Craig. Holly is going to give him fancy signal flags...despite the infinite joy his double thumbs up gives Gemma every single time he does it. Because tiny flags are also hilarious.Holly edited this week. All complaints should be mailed to Producer Craig.www.whichmurderer.comWARNING - Explicit language, content and themes (plus whatever else will cover us legally).
