I'm gonna be Finesse; that's my power. Finesse Mitchell has made his career his own from the start – as an actor, comedian, author, host, podcaster, and now president of the Laugh Factory. He's passionate about it all, and says he's just scratched the surface of everything he wants to do. He shares with Jeanne the best two words of advice he's ever received; why taking charge of The Laugh Factory is a dream come true; why it's important to own your differences and use them to your advantage; how being a comedian is like being in a horse race; why you can't do the hustle forever so you definitely need a hobby; and how he forgave himself for not giving Saturday Night Live his all. About Finesse:Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Finesse graduated from the University of Miami and is a distinguished member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He entered the comedy scene with appearances on BET's Comic View and Comedy Central. In 2003, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live where he played the memorable “Starrkeisha” and frequently appeared on “Weekend Update” with Seth Myers as Morgan Freeman, 50 Cent, and Bobby Brown. His television acting credits include NBC's Kenan, Fox's Outmatched, ABC's Splitting Up Together, Showtime's Roadies, Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm (China's Dad), and TBS Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns. Mitchell has also had numerous appearances on NBC's Today show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Arsenio Hall Show, B.E.T Comic View, Wendy Williams, and many more. Let' sit down with the host of "The Laughing Gas Comedy Show" Big Vino is an authentic comedic voice whose hilarious anecdotes and candid insights endear him to all generations. You've seen him at the Comedy Cabana, the Stress Factories, and the Virginia Beach Funny Bone opening for some of the biggest acts in the country ( Karlous Miller, Bruce Bruce, Ryan Davis, Finesse Mitchell, etc) but Vino's journey started in Newark, New Jersey where he was born and raised. As a child, his natural charisma and eagerness to entertain should have been a clue to what his future would hold. But like far too many who grew up in the urban jungle, the temptation of "Street Life" would seduce him and he would squander years of potential deeply invested in a game that would claim so many of his friends' lives. At his core, Big Vino sought to leave the lifestyle of drugs and crime, so he packed up and moved away from everything he knew to try his hand at ordinary life in Virginia. Adjusting to legitimate work was harder than expected and Vino soon found himself itching to get back to his old ways. That is until an old friend reminded him of a time he joked his way out of a gunfight. It was the elephant in the room he had been ignoring his whole life. He'd learned to use his sense of humor and street savvy to navigate through life, why not take those same skills to the stage? A true comedy rookie, Big Vino AKA #MrFeedYoGirl, looked to debut his raw talents on one of the biggest of stages: a packed house at the Virginia Beach Funny Bone's Clash of the Comics. That night he captured the audience's hearts and indefinitely set the tone for his career as another great comedian to be cultivated by Virginia's top comedy club. Although that night he was disqualified, victory would not elude him long and he would soon be added to the club's roster of paid regulars. https://www.757renaissanceman.com/ #757RenaissanceMan #2Up2Down --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/c4challenge/message

What a difference over 200 crappy movies makes. Back in 2007, George watched The Comebacks starring SNL alums David Koechner and Finesse Mitchell and directed by the guy who gave us Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star. It was so terrible he broke the DVD he burned it on so it would never be played again. Flash forward to 2020 and The Comebacks is one of the best movies we've seen for this podcast. Unfairly lumped in with the spoof movies from Friedberg and Seltzer, this is a funny movie with good jokes and an actual story you can follow from beginning to end. There are a few visual sight gags that are just references to other movies of the time, but for the most part the movie will turn a reference into an actual character or storyline. Listen to George and Ben talk about their new favorite movie. Then again, this could all be some kind of insanity. Remember, this is the podcast that is pro Jack And Jill and Holmes And Watson.Like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Got a question/comment/insult?
