Is the gap between the old school and the new school really about age, or is it about perspective? In this episode of the Ern and Iso Podcast, the duo starts the conversation by discussing Jaÿ-Z's Yankees concert and what moments like that mean for hip-hop culture. They also examine the controversy surrounding Yung Miami's "Spend That/Scammers" and whether music has a responsibility when it comes to the influence it can have on younger audiences. The heart of the episode, however, is a much bigger conversation.Ern and Iso dive into the importance of thinking beyond today, becoming more intentional in business, preparing for life's inevitable changes, and building a future instead of simply reacting to the present. From financial awareness and entrepreneurship to personal growth and long-term planning, this episode is about shifting your mindset from surviving today to succeeding tomorrow.Topics include:

Welcome Back To Part two and sorry for the wait!!! We open the convo speaking about Jack n Jill of america and the children that are involved in this community, the backlash Yung Miami has gotten about her hit song "Spend That", and terrible lyrics from the past and why they get backlash today. ENJOY!!Socials:Mel@Mel.Vybz on Instagram
This week the theme is simple: STAY SCHEMING. We open with the "Spin That" controversy taking over everybody's timeline — India.Arie's response video, the boycott debate, and why the real issue isn't one song, it's the lack of balance in today's music compared to the 90s. That spirals into booster culture, the underground food stamp economy, and why every good scheme requires patience (looking at you, Brinks truck guy). Then we get into one of the great 90s urban legends: did Toni Braxton really break up the young Dallas Mavericks — Jason Kidd, Jimmy Jackson, and Jamal Mashburn? And was her "Good girls don't kiss and tell" response the greatest album promo scheme ever pulled? (The Secrets album turns 30 this month, so Jimmy Jackson is conveniently telling the story again...) Plus: DJ Jazzy Jeff reveals he mixed Jill Scott's classic albums under the alias "George Glass" — and even won awards under the fake name. We debate who invented the producer tag, break down 9th Wonder's Billboard chart experiment (spoiler: Reasonable Doubt didn't sell in '96 and it's still a classic), and confess which albums our younger selves overrated. Stacy brings a full segment of 90s songs you didn't know were covers — Brian McKnight's "Crazy Love," Maxwell's "Woman's Work," Monica's "Angel of Mine," Xscape's "Who Can I Run To," Whitney's "I Will Always Love You," Destiny's Child's "Emotion," and more that will make you question your whole childhood. We also cover Uncle Luke's run for Congress, Mara Brock Akil asking for $50 MILLION to make the Girlfriends movie, a full turn-by-turn map breakdown of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Posse on Broadway" (the whole song takes place on like six blocks!), the eternal debate of O-Dog vs. Bishop — psychopath or sociopath? — a 90s streetwear draft (justice for Cross Colours!), and Brian McKnight's truly diabolical Father's Day interview. We close it out with a full track-by-track revisit of Tevin Campbell's "I'm Ready" (1993) — the Babyface heat, the Prince problem, why "Shhh" should have never happened, and our final ratings.

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show tackled some of the biggest conversations in music and entertainment, starting with Nicki Minaj’s headline-making visit to the White House, where President Donald Trump publicly praised the rapper during a Rose Garden luncheon and Minaj later shared photos from the event using the hashtag “WhiteHouseBarbie.” The crew also discussed the growing controversy surrounding Yung Miami’s viral hit “Spend Dat,” which has sparked debate over its lyrics and messaging after criticism from India Arie. While critics argue the song glamorizes scamming and retail theft, supporters including Monica, Rihanna, Uncle Luke, and Trick Daddy have defended it as entertainment and artistic expression. The show explored both sides of the conversation, including whether artists should be held responsible for the influence their music may have on younger audiences. The crew also reacted to reports that Beyoncé’s surprise single “Morning Dew (Donk)” debuted at a relatively modest position on Spotify’s U.S. chart despite the superstar’s global reach, fueling online discussions about expectations for one of music’s biggest names. Meanwhile, nearly seven years after Nipsey Hussle’s death, court documents show his children have officially received their shares of his estate, which is reportedly valued at approximately $11 million. The conversation highlighted Nipsey’s legacy of ownership and entrepreneurship, with his assets including business interests and intellectual property that will continue benefiting his family. The baddie boom arrived like victory. The music hit hard. Bodies filled the frame. Money flexed loud. Attitude stayed dialed high. Sexyy Red. GloRilla. Megan Thee Stallion. Yung Miami pushed “Spend Dat” into heavy rotation. Younger Black women leaned into the energy as ownership. Older generations leaned toward India.Arie's warning. She called out the song for glamorizing scammer culture and fast spending. The fan backlash arrived on schedule. Music works as vibration. Low vibration pulls consciousness down to its own level. The nervous system records the repetition. Men started scanning for the high-yield performance the tracks rewarded. The woman who arrived without the loaded script registered as absence. The pattern moved before awareness could name it. Expectation dropped to the floor the music set. The exchange cut deeper. Money. Power. Visibility. The version of freedom the market would amplify. The mystery disappeared in the trade. That unknown depth once pulled a man toward protection and provision. The performance took its place. A performance that streams easy and discards faster. The community financed the low frequency. We defended the anthem. We called the transaction liberation. Relationships now show the result. Transactional. Empty. Still defended as progress. The civil war lives inside Black women. Younger voices claim the baddie blueprint as agency. Older voices hear the lowered floor and push back. The self-realized or God-realized man becomes the clearest measure. Can he still respect and connect with a woman shaped inside that field, or has the vibration reached consciousness itself? This is not one song. This is what the dominant sound installs in the nervous system, the imagination, and the spirit. The relationships carry the bill. The mystery we sold left the room quieter than anyone admits.

We must give an account to Him for all that we think, say, and do. We must ask Him to search our hearts and minds. We must become introspective and answer these questions:What are we producing with the life that God has given us? Do our words and actions uplift or tear down? Does our fruit help others experience life or death? What we do for others, we do for God. What has Yung Miami, Trick Daddy, et al. done for our commUNITY? Is it righteous or wicked?
