Before the trampoline park boom in the family entertainment industry, Launch Entertainment was a really new concept. Rob Arnold, CEO of Launch Entertainment joins me today to talk about the opportunities in the family entertainment industry and how they've been able to stay ahead of the trend by building a robust experience for the entire family. The family entertainment industry is expected to reach a whopping $69 billion this year and Rob knows first hand what it is like to tap into that potential. Listen to this episode of Franchise Euphoria to learn about the company, their goals, and how their mom-and-pop trampoline park idea has evolved into more than 30 franchise locations complete with a full restaurant and multiple attractions.   Key Takeaways: [3:42] - Rob and his wife have always been entrepreneurs and he shares how the idea for Launch Entertainment was developed. [6:43] - At the time in 2011, there were only about 150 parks like this in the country. [8:31] - Their personal experience in 2011 took place in a location that was off the beaten path and they imagined what it would be like in a busier area. [10:52] - Rob knew what he wanted but couldn't find an existing model. [12:40] - He knew the potential and took the step to learn about franchising before he even opened the first location. [14:17] - Rob describes the experience of the grand opening of the first location and how impactful it was on the business. [15:58] - The first location was a retail location having taken over part of an old Sports Authority. [17:50] - In the beginning, the food was not good quality and they improved overall to a full restaurant included inside. [20:26] - Opening a second location is exciting but spotlights areas of improvement. [23:05] - With the opening of the second location, they kept the first space the same and improved the second one with more games and party rooms. [24:41] - What happens when a new location doesn't have a successful launch? [26:10] - Knowing they wanted to franchise, they started the franchise process early on with the first franchisee opening up a location within a year of the first location. [27:43] - They started with franchised locations with friends and families. This allowed them to test processes and systems with honest feedback. [29:26] - The popularity of trampoline parks blew up across the United States and Launch Entertainment branched out into different attractions. [31:08] - With more attractions catering to the whole family, it created more opportunities to make more money. [34:33] - Rob lists the other attractions they added to make the experience more robust. [39:01] - There are a lot of perks to opening a franchise with Launch Entertainment. [42:17] - When you build something, build a strong brand with a robust operational marketing system to support the growth that lies ahead.   Mentioned in This Episode: Launch Trampoline Park Website Franchise with Launch Entertainment

For many franchises, the goal is to expand. Depending on the business model, ideal locations, and finding the right people, this can be done quickly or it could be a slower process. But the most important thing is that there is a plan for business expansion and tactics in place to see the right results. Chuck Pistor, President and CEO of Miracle Method talks about just that in today's episode of Franchise Euphoria. Miracle Method is the nation's largest home improvement franchise and has been around since 1977. Starting out with a few locations in California, now Miracle Method has 165 locations with over 40% of sites breaking a million dollars in sales yearly. In today's discussion, Chuck explains how Miracle Method works, what they do, who they serve, and how they are implementing growth tactics to reach their expansion goal in 2023.   Key Takeaways: [2:39] - Chuck shares his own background and how he wound up as CEO of Miracle Method. [6:38] - After 40 years, the company still uses the same bonding agent and is a coveted formula. [8:22] - Over the years, the technology has expanded to allow the company to offer more than just bathtub renovation. [10:49] - When Chuck transitioned into this role without a background in franchising, he learned a lot and decided to connect the franchisees together for collaboration. [12:22] - Chuck took the opportunity to get to know the franchisees and learn from them. He also opened a franchise to experience what he didn't know. [15:16] - What does Chuck look for in franchisees? [16:21] - The Covid-19 pandemic impacted this particular franchise and industry differently than others. [17:30] - What does Miracle Method do to repair and restore? [19:39] - 2023 is an expansion year for Miracle Method with the goal of adding 12 or more locations across the US. [20:50] - There are two different models: the man in the van model and the manager model. [23:54] - When it comes to expansion, Miracle Method's strategy is to find the right people. [7:24] His experience has shown that it is most effective to focus on the benefits of the product to the end user that you are trying to market to. [9:52] The difference between brand advertising and brand response is that there’s always some type of offer where you’re asking people to respond. You have to put out a promotion that gives them a reason to respond. [11:24] These concepts can be applied to service-based products as well, not just physical products. You can do this through authentic testimonials of happy customers. [18:20] There are some marketing basics Rick likes to implement such as starting and ending each ad with a brand logo. Also, advertising giveaways can help drive people towards your products. [20:17] Tactics for reaching and targeting consumers has changed somewhat over the years. While you can still reach a mass-audience through DTC marketing, there are many mediums that are cheaper and effective to reach directly to consumers. [22:45] The key to building any brand is finding your unique selling proposition and pushing it toward your audience. [24:04] Offering a very liberal money-back guarantee to get someone to try your product or service is a great way to grab the attention of your consumers. [26:12] The priority and lifeblood of any business is sales. Focusing on how you can get sales in the door will build your brand as your business is growing. [29:24] Most of your company’s branding happens after the sale which is formed based on the customer experience. [30:14] Rick’s book “Building Billion Dollar Brands” is coming out on August 1, which covers many of the topics discussed in today’s interview. [31:39] Now, Rick still works on “fun,” hands-on projects with companies to build their brand, but mostly focuses his time on writing and speaking about brand building. There, he led sales and marketing, taking the business from zero to $12 million-plus in bookings. In 2015, industry leader Cvent took notice and acquired the company, adding onsite solutions to its product portfolio. Under Cvent, Lewis continued to propel the business forward with onsite solutions proving it to be one of the fastest growing product lines of the company. [5:41] Roger shares what the CMIT business concept is and what their goals are. [6:53] In Roger’s opinion, most CMIT franchisees start out of a home office and they can move into a brick and mortar location, but it isn’t necessary. [9:29] While people often assume that in order to be a franchisee candidate at CMIT, you have to have a strong IT background, but Roger explains that isn’t the case. [12:13] Originally, the “CM” in the name of the business stood for “Computer Moms”, but it has since transitioned to “Computer Monitoring.” [16:14] One of the biggest factors that led to CMIT having extra work to do when the pandemic broke out was that with so many people adapting to a work from home lifestyle, they found that their home systems weren’t properly protected. [19:38] Roger weighs in on which virtual meeting platforms he believes are the best. [23:20] In Roger’s opinion, the reason cyber security has become such a big threat is because small businesses are being recognized for not having quality protection and are therefore getting targeted. Denai Wolfe is a Virtual CFO, Financial Clarity Coach and Profit Strategist. She works with big thinking entrepreneurs to help them increase their profits by designing and implementing financial structure and systems. Denai understands entrepreneurs because she is one. In a past life she owned a photography business and two restaurant franchises. Running these businesses was where she learned the power of knowing your numbers. She became so passionate about empowering entrepreneurs to take control of their numbers that she volunteered at her local women’s business center to educate female entrepreneurs on financial literacy. The more students she got in front of them more requests she received for consults and so The Chic CFO was born.   Denai believes that bigger profits equal a better life not just for you and your family but for your team and customers as well. She follows one golden rule when it comes to business – of it doesn’t make money it doesn’t make sense. Her mission is to help entrepreneurs understand their financials and utilize the data to make operational improvements that will scale their company to the next level!   Key Takeaways: [0:18] Today’s episode of Franchise Euphoria is brought to you by IndyFranchiseLaw.com, a leading resource in the franchise space. [14:09] One of Denai’s biggest missions with empowering entrepreneurs has been to deliver the information to them in a way that makes sense. That’s when she saw how overwhelming the Cares Act was and she decided to simplify it. [19:58] Denai gives an overview of what the Paycheck Protection Program is and what the intent behind it is. [26:25] Josh addresses that there is some confusion surrounding how owners who don’t have standard paychecks get paid. [33:15] While the Cares Act explicitly states what 75% of the funds you obtain should go towards, there is about 25% of gray area, so Josh suggests talking with your business professional to address what expenses qualify to avoid fraudulence. [36:37] Denai has noticed that small banks are able to assist people applying for this program better than larger banks simply because the bigger banks are inundated and are struggling to keep up with the amount of applications they receive. [38:33] The Paycheck Protection Program explicitly states that professionals cannot charge applicants to assist with the application process, but Denai has seen people doing this anyways, which is in poor taste in her opinion. [41:48] Josh shares that technical difficulties interrupted the recording process for this interview, so they are back a few days later, and there’s actually been an update to the program which Denai explains. [46:40] Denai’s Facebook group called the Profit Factor is constantly active with information about the Cares Act and Denai regularly does Facebook lives to discuss updates.
