Située autour du Mont Bégo, elle est célèbre depuis le xvie siècle pour ses mirabilia (merveilles). Ce terme regroupait alors des représentations d'objets et de mythes grecs sur des roches colorées, mais aussi des aimants naturels, des « monstres » ou des « Pygmées ».Maddalena Cataldi analyse la façon dont, à l'échelle d'un siècle, les interprétations scientifiques se sont succédées, imposant un imaginaire préhistorique en lieu et place des références aux mythes grecs convoquées par les observateurs du xvie siècle. L'étude du Mont Bégo s'offre comme un observatoire privilégié d'une préhistoire au quotidien. Elle rend visible l'ensemble des codes techniques liés à la reproduction, la datation et l'herméneutique variées des gravures rupestres. Elle révèle un jeu de controverses internationales sur les origines de l'art et de l'écriture, les religions primitives, la valeur du comparatisme ethnographique et les questions obscures, obsédantes en fin de parcours, de l'ethnogenèse nationale dans l'Europe des fascismes.Chargée de recherche au CNRS (Larhra - UMR 5190), Maddalena Cataldi est docteure en histoire des sciences de l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales. L'ancienne directrice de la chaîne Russia Today en France, Xenia Fedorova, fait polémique dans les médias français alors qu'elle est chroniqueuse sur plusieurs médias de la sphère Bolloré. On hésite à parler d'une journaliste, et pas seulement parce que Xenia Fedorova n'a pas sa carte de presse en France : cette ancienne directrice de la chaîne RT France, Russia Today, épouse systématiquement le point de vue, pour ne pas dire la propagande, du Kremlin. Ainsi, elle relève davantage de l'influence étrangère. Dès 2017, elle mettait en doute le fait que Bachar el-Assad, allié des Russes, avait procédé à des bombardements chimiques contre sa population en Syrie. En 2022, elle reprenait la terminologie officielle russe en parlant d'« opération spéciale » en Ukraine, allant jusqu'à dire que seul le Dombass était concerné. Depuis qu'elle a été recrutée par Bolloré, l'année dernière, on peut entendre sur CNews que « c'est l'Occident qui a décidé de prolonger la guerre en Ukraine » ou qu'il n'y a pas eu d'enfants ukrainiens enlevés vers la Russie. Le plus incongru est sans doute de lire ses leçons de liberté d'expression dans le JDNews. On se demande si la France devrait prendre exemple sur la Russie et sa loi liberticide sur les « agents de l'étranger ». Mark Brennan, Founder, CEO, and Director of Cerrado Gold Inc (TSX.V: CERT) (OTCQX: CRDOF), joins me to review their Q1 2026 financial and operational metrics at the producing Minera Don Nicolas (MDN) gold mine in Argentina.  We discuss the aggressive 70,000 meter exploration program on tap for MDN into 2026, review the permitting process at the Lagoa Salgada VMS Project in Portugal and the key development catalysts on tap at the Mont Sorcier Iron-Vanadium project in Quebec.   Q1/26 MDN Operating Highlights: Q1 Gold equivalent production of 12,842 Gold Equivalent Ounces (“GEO”) vs 11,163 GEO in Q1 2025 Heap leach production of 8,787 GEO continues to increase as water availability improves Underground development work continued at an accelerated pace, with record development meters during the period Access to new underground ore zones expected in Q2 2026, delivering higher-grade ore to the CIL plant, improving head feed grade, and increasing production CIL plant continues to process a blend of stockpile material and additional ore from underground development, resulting in total production of 4,055 GEO in Q1 through the CIL plant Acquisition of Falcon Properties has the potential to extend Heap Leach operations based on historical drill results. Combined with the existing exploration program, the acquisition is expected to position the mine to add new mineable material quickly Full year production guidance of 50,000-60,000 GEO maintained AISC of $1,348/oz Au during Q1 2026 Record Adjusted EBITDA of $28.7 million for Q1 2026, benefiting from unhedged gold position Strong Cash Position of $31.4 million at quarter end   Mark and I review their Minera Don Nicolas producing gold project in Argentina, and the combination of heap leach and underground gold equivalent ounce production for the first quarter. He also highlighted the advantages of the Falcon Properties acquisition, and how it adds years to the existing heap leach mine life, as well as substantial exploration upside.  We discuss the key objectives from the ongoing 70,000 meter drill program will be looking to extend mine life in a substantial way and find new high-grade areas, at surface and underground, for future mine sequencing.   Next we got an update on the ongoing work from the previously announced unfavourable opinion of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the Lago Salgada VMS Project in Portugal. This ‘unfavourable opinion' was issued after expiry of statutory deadline under Portuguese EIA legislation. The Company maintains its position that the project has been tacitly approved. Mark reiterated that the purported unfavorable opinion was issued despite the project being the first mining project in Portuguese history to receive unanimous favourable opinion for the Project by all 17 people that make up the Technical Evaluation Committee. The Company is working on a resolution and will update the market when it has more information.   Moving on to the Mont Sorcier Iron Project in Quebec, there are final workstreams feeding into the Bankable Feasibility Study slated for release here in Q2 of 2026. Defying Barriers is the memoir of a man told by his own government to vanish — and who turned the threat into a business empire spanning two countries. In this interview with Irakli, businessman and author Sam Montši recounts how a 1987 order to "disappear" from military-ruled Lesotho drove him into apartheid South Africa, where he joined the mighty South African Breweries. There, he says, "I was the first Black general manager in the SAB Group at the time. And white people, sadly, were not used to having a Black person overseeing them. So some of them behaved in an unfortunate fashion, and I had to get rid of one of them." Montši explains the operating instinct behind a portfolio that broke barriers from fishing to shipbuilding — "a business needs to move, and move fast" — and reflects candidly on succession, recalling how his son Arif joined him: "Dad, I'm coming to work with you. I'm not coming to work for you. I'm not going to carry your briefcase." He reveres Nelson Mandela as a nation builder — "we were lucky to have him when we had him" — but delivers a stinging critique of Black Economic Empowerment, charging that it "has pitted the Black man against the white person, rather than getting them to work together," and that requiring white firms to take on Black partners is "in a sense, suggesting that Black people cannot create these things themselves." Montši also shares the leadership philosophy that carried him from a Soweto childhood to West African boardrooms: "for you to shine, you must make the people that work directly under you shine." He outlines in detail the journey of crossing boundaries others said could not be crossed — and what it means to now hand the family business to the next generation.

Indigenous activists are reacting to news that President Donald Trump recently issued a presidential border-crossing permit for the Bridger Pipeline in northcentral Montana. Yellowstone Public Radio's Kayla Desroches reports. The Bridger Pipeline would start in Phillips County, Mont. at the Canadian border and carry Alberta oil sands down through eastern Montana. Fort Peck Assiniboine Tribal member and Wolf Point city councilman Lance FourStar says he fought for years against the Keystone XL pipeline. “This was all kind of new to me. I was hoping it wasn't real, and that it was just a rumor.” Indigenous activists and environmental groups have been rallying around the public comment period for the Bridger Pipeline's environmental analysis. FourStar says he is disappointed by the presidential approval, but not surprised. “That sinking feeling didn't happen this time.” A spokesperson with developer Bridger Pipeline says construction is slated to begin in fall 2027. The pipeline still needs several permits to go ahead. Kelly Hunt’s Funeral. (Courtesy Shaktoolik School / Facebook) The Norton Sound community of Shaktoolik said their goodbyes to Kelly Hunt at a memorial service this Saturday, as Rhonda McBride from our flagship station KNBA reports. She was the 19 year old whose remains were found in ravine in the Anchorage, Alaska area of Spenard two weeks ago, following her disappearance in January. Friends and family gathered in the school gym for a simple, but emotional, service, with arms held open and voices raised in song. “Where the tree of life is always blooming and the roses never fade.” Prayers to bring Kelly Hunt home were finally answered, though not in the way the community had hoped. She was last seen visiting friends in Anchorage, on her way to attend the Alaska Christian College. During the service, the lingering question of what happened to Hunt was set aside, to grieve and remember her as a young person, so was full of life and potential – qualities that Lynda Bekoalok says she cherishes. In her more than two decades as a teacher in Shaktoolik, she remembers Hunt as one of the community's most promising students. “She was always positive and willing to jump in and help no matter where. She was always diligent in school. She always had a smile on her face.” Bekoalok says everyone at the school encouraged Hunt to go to college. The community even raised money to help her with expenses, because they were proud of how she had overcome so many challenges at an early age. Anchorage Police continue to investigate her case with no word yet on how she died. No suspects have been arrested. New footage of an ocelot in southern Arizona have captured. (Courtesy Center for Biological Diversity) The ocelot is seldom seen in the Southwest anymore. Few animals from the wild, spotted cat species still roam between the borderlands of northern Mexico and southern Arizona. But as KJZZ's Gabriel Pietrorazio reports, a group of tribal youth with ties to this now-endangered creature have bestowed one with an Indigenous name. Tucson high school first-year Isaac Valencia was among nearly three dozen O'odham students part of the Voices of Our Youth program, working with a tribal linguist. Then, a couple hundred ballots were cast to decide a fitting moniker through a recent online vote. “When I came up with the name, I named it an O'odham. And Himdam means traveler, like he has [an] untold story.” Himdam was first spotted in the Atascosa Highlands in 2024. More sightings of the same feline soon followed in the Whetstone, Patagonia and Santa Rita mountain ranges. The nonprofit Center for Biological Diversity shared insights about ocelots and their fragile habitat, the Sky Islands, with this group of students. For 14-year-old Valencia, who is from the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Nation, Himdam's survival is inspiring. “It makes me real proud.” And naming the rare cat means so much more.
