Garrett Jackson, Summer League head coach and assistant coach of the Houston Rockets, joins The Matt Thomas Show as the Rockets are 2-1 so far in the NBA Summer League. Reed Sheppard, the third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has averaged 20 points and 4.7 assists in his first three games with the Rockets. Sheppard "always seems kind of calm" with the ball and his "poise" is one of his biggest strengths, but "he could be more vocal" on the court, Jackson said. Cam Whitmore, the reigning Summer League MVP, recorded a game-high 25 points against the Washington Wizards on Sunday. It's "good to see [Whitmore] kind of grow in that leadership role." Despite a 87-73 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Monday, newly acquired AJ Griffin had a positive impact with 18 points and five rebounds. The goal for Summer League is that "you want to get everybody's feet wet...and give them a little bit of structure," but also step aside and let the younger players develop their game. The Rockets will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday. "I expect Reed [Sheppard] to play more," but "I think Cam [Whitmore] is done."

Garrett Jackson won our unofficial "LinkedIn Cold Outreach Award of 2020"...but does not consider himself a sales person!? 3 things that we learnt from him: 1️⃣ Vary your messaging: Be very aware on the impact of your marketing. Broadcasting the same single ad to a person too many times can even result in bad Google Reviews because people appreciate variety and added value. (5') 2️⃣ Invest into customers: Garrett focuses on over-deliver on great service to clients (we can confirm) but not overcharging to establish long-term relationships (9') 3️⃣Focus on hands-on execution, but invest into technology: Don't overthink things and stay hands-on on the human side, but also be aware where technology can help you automate your outreach. (16')

Many teachers talk about the isolation of teaching. But what if you really were truly isolated? Today’s guest, Garrett Jackson, is a special education teacher in Saipan, the largest of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), a U.S. commonwealth about 130 miles from Guam—geographically isolated in the western Pacific. And in October 2018 the islands were hit by Typhoon Yutu, which devastated their community. Before moving to Saipan with his wife and son, Garrett taught high school history and government in Lawton, Oklahoma. He recently received his Master’s in Autism and Developmental Disabilities from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. In his spare time, Garrett enjoys playing with his son, traveling, hunting, fishing, and amateur radio. The HMH Learning Moments: Teachers in America series profiles K–12 teachers across the country. Ross Brand with your Livestream Universe Update and Flash Briefing for Monday, April 30th, 2018. In Real Life or IRL live streaming too often means streaming while driving. And this is a trend that can have horrible consequences. A YouTuber was involved in a serious car accident recently while distracted by reading comments on his phone. He failed to see the stop sign or notice the truck approaching him. He was reported to be in moderate to serious condition after being hospitalized with blunt force trauma and airlifted from the scene, according to CBS Philly & CNN Wire Services. The YouTuber said he was streaming to make the 40-minute drive less boring. This follows a near-incident in which a popular and controversial YouTube IRL vlogger just missed causing an accident while driving and live streaming with other IRL streamers in his car. Streaming Attorney Mitch Jackson has been a leader in raising awareness about distracted driving. As a Livestream Universe guest in May 2017, Mitch drew a sharp line in the sand when it comes to streaming while driving. Mitch and his son Garrett Jackson run the Stop Distracted Driving Facebook group. On Today's viewing schedule: At 3pm ET, Owen Video hosts BeLive Weekly on the BeLive TV Facebook page.
