Everything You Need To Know About Smart Contract Audits Chainalysis recently reported that 2022 was the biggest year ever for crypto hacking with $3.8 billion stolen with the majority of the funds coming from DeFi protocols and it begs the question, why isn't there better cyber security for these projects? This is the exact reason we brought in our next guest, David Schwed (Chief Operating Officer of Halborn), who sat down with Ian Andrews (Chief Marketing Officer, Chainalysis) and explained everything we need to know about smart contract audits and why projects shouldn't solely be relying on these audits as part of their cyber security functions. David gives us expert insights into proper key management and explains the vulnerability of bridge hacks and the need for decentralized projects to prioritize cyber security instead of making it a secondary thought, especially with escalating crypto hacks. Web3 has always been criticised for its not so friendly user experience. While one might argue that it requires a mere learning curve, similar to that of e-mail services when first introduced, Web2's ease of use has become the norm. Account abstraction and smart contract automation are just 2 solutions for unlocking higher flexibility in transaction execution logic. These backend improvements, alongside scaling solutions and a more user-friendly frontend (e.g. wallets, interfaces) will represent the main drivers of adoption. We were joined by Luis Schliesske & Hilmar Orth, founders of Gelato Network, to discuss about Gelato Network's approach to decentralising Web3's backend through automation and relaying, in order to onboard the next 100 million users.Topics covered in this episode:Luis' and Hilmar's backgroundsThe need for automation in smart contractsHow bots operate in automation processesInteracting with Gelato's node networkAutomation, relayers & gasless transactionsHow automation impacts trust assumptionsGelato beta start & use casesAccount abstraction & user experienceEpisode links:Luis Schliesske on TwitterHilmar Orth on TwitterGelato Network on TwitterSponsors:Omni: Access all of Web3 in one easy-to-use wallet! with @b1ackd0g @noahcitron @eddylazzarin @smc90This episode is all about programming languages and crypto -- and it's for both existing blockchain & smart contract programmers, and also other non-web3 developers seeking to enter the space... and, for anyone who is just curious about how programming languages evolve and come into existence (as well as interested in the intersection of language, code, and expression!)It's a fun and fascinating ride, because we cover everything from differences (and similarities) in conventional programming languages vs. smart contract programming; discuss and debate the unique constraints (and opportunities) of blockchains; and also touch on topics such as formal verification, governance & community, tooling, cross-platform adaptation, and much much more... But we also dig into with the history, ebbs, and flows of traditional programming to today. Our guests in this episode, in conversation with Sonal Chokshi, include: Sam Blackshear -- co-founder and CTO of Mysten Labs (which is building foundations for the decentralized future of web3); Sam has a long history in programming languages from his PhD to working at Facebook (and Libra/Diem) to creating and being one of the authors of Move, an open-source programming language for building smart contracts;Noah Citron, smart contract & research engineer here at a16z crypto (who also recently authored a light client for Ethereum called Helios, and, won a challenging gas-optimization challenge with another partner here); andEddy Lazzarin, head of engineering for a16z crypto; before that, Eddy was in software engineering at Netflix, as well as data engineering and data science at Facebook. As a reminder, none of this is investment, business, legal, or tax advice; please see a16z.com/disclosures for more important information – including, a link to a list of our investments.

Smart contracts can be very useful for your business. However, they also have the power to make you lose a lot of money as they allow you to make money transactions. In 2022, several billion were embezzled. The difficulty is that it is the same principle as a bank, before depositing money, it must be verified that this smart contract is secure, that there are no flaws. I'll meet you in this video to give you some advice on how to secure yourself and use smart contracts safely. ---------------------- If you want to know more about us and our program, visit: https://myctofriend.co And you can also get our FREE course: "How to build a startup without a CTO or tech co-founder" on https://myctofriend.co/htbasaccess These episode are also available as video on YouTube on: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4okmGyBXKs-hJ_Lp3Ga_QQ
Smart Contracts Could Be The Key To Crypto Mass Adoption A simple mistake in code usually meant that your viral app was down for a few hours and you may have lost a few loyal users, but in Web3 the stakes are much higher as an error in code or a vulnerable smart contract could lead to hundreds of millions of dollars worth of lost cryptocurrency. On this podcast, Ian Andrews (Chief Marketing Officer, Chainalysis) is joined by the co-founders of the all in one platform development company, Tenderly. Andrej Benčić (CEO) and Bogdan Habić (CTO) explain how their platform is allowing developers easier access to Web3 and the ability to test, simulate and gain real time data in order to produce more efficient and less faulty code for smart contracts. They describe the difference between web2 and web3 from a developer perspective and how many of the products and features they built were out of their own frustrations incurred from over a decade of software development. Web3 is coming and it will revolutionize the internet and how we transact business in all aspects of our lives. In the student housing arena, technologies like blockchain and smart contracts can offer digital credentialing, making the real estate process faster, more efficient, and even more secure. But, like with all new technologies, many new terminologies are being bandied about, with more questions than answers. So how can we begin to understand these technologies and how they will be employed in student housing? Michael Huereque is an entrepreneur with unique experiences in traditional and non-traditional media and marketing. As the founder and former executive vice president at Agency Fifty3, Michael managed marketing services for over 1000 communities and helped the agency bring home 68 awards and six years, including being voted a top place to work. For the last two years, Michael has switched gears, taking a deep dive into studying Web3 and how it will drastically change the way we do business in the future. On this episode of Student Housing Matters, Michael joins host Brittany Pieper to discuss what Web3 is and his mission to bring it into the multifamily and student housing industry. Listen in for Michael's insight on technologies such as blockchain and smart contracts and how they work in student housing. He'll share how student housing industry leaders can prepare to use these new technologies to recruit and retain residents. Plus, why he wants to use blockchain to revolutionize the way things work in multifamily housing. Topics Covered Michael shares what Web3 is How blockchain works How smart contracts originated with the invention of vending machines How smart contracts streamline the contractual process in real estate How industries like healthcare are already successfully using smart contracts The difference between a centralized and a decentralized system Why decentralized is a safer alternative for your crypto wallet The possible applications for the metaverse for multifamily and student housing and the resident experience How industry leaders can prepare to recruit and retain residents using these new technologies Why Michael wants to revolutionize the way things work in multifamily housing Connect with Michael Michael Huereque on LinkedIn Connect with Brittany Student Housing Matters Student Housing Matters on Facebook Student Housing Matters on Twitter Capstone On-Campus Management Brittany on LinkedIn Email media@cocm.com

Episode 30 - The Ticketmaster failure: can Web 3.0 NFT blockchain ticketing fix problems with event ticketing?I need to start off by saying this is not financial advice so if you are looking for that this show isn't for you. The content of this podcast episode is for informational purposes only. The opinions expressed here are not meant to be taken as financial, investment, or any other advice.First things first let's talk about the elephant in the room, Ticketmaster. I want to start by giving a bit of a backstory to what led to where we are today with the ticketing giant. A few weeks ago there was a huge mishap in the event ticketing world specifically involving Ticketmaster and Taylor Swift fan's. The trouble started when registered fans received codes for a pre-sale for Taylor Swift's newest tour. Ticket buyers were met with long delays and error messages that Ticketmaster blamed on bots and historically unprecedented demand. Many wanting to buy tickets walked away frustrated and empty-handed. Ticketmaster acknowledged a “staggering number of bot attacks,” occurred while fans were trying to get tickets as well. This created problematic questions like who was actually getting the tickets — Swift fans or scalpers hoping to make a profit on the resale market? And at this point Ticketmaster said it was canceling its general public sale because of “high demands on ticketing systems”. This has set off a firestorm against Ticketmaster where some second hand tickets were being priced at $28,000. But this isn't the first time Ticketmaster has been a problem for artists and fans either. Listen to the full episode for more information. Looking for Crypto apparel? Today we are chatting with Lukas of Safe, or Gnosis Safe, as it is most commonly known. Lukas started with Safe as its Product Manager, and as the project grew, he became its Co-founder. This episode IMO is very timely. As the current state of crypto shows, we must take custody of our wallets and digital assets. Safe helps you achieve this. Our conversation compares the more common private key wallets to smart contract wallets. And the value of using the latter, which Safe offers. We explore Safe usage from an organizational perspective and retail. As most of us are probably familiar, Safe is a commonly used tool in DAOs to manage funds. But what about using it to collect art, manage funds, and share ownership of digital assets within our families? This is what is most exciting about Safe and tools like it. They can make crypto more accessible and usable for everyone. This episode has lots to cover, so let's get started. That's a wrap! Cryptocurrency, Non-Fungible Tokens and Digital Assets are now common enough to frequent divorce cases as assets to be divided, but still new enough that most people are unfamiliar with what it represents. Attorneys need to understand how these digital assets are purchased, how they are stored, and how they are maintained. In this episode of Divorce, Healthy!, host Ashley-Nicole Russell speaks with attorney Ben McLawhorn of McLawhorn & Russell, PLLC about cryptocurrency and other non-fungible tokens in divorce court. Ben aims to educate both clients and fellow attorneys on digital assets and how to approach them in litigation and settlement discussions. The two discuss at length the equitable distribution of crypto, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Smart-Contracts, NFT's, Blockchain and the Metaverse and how those concepts play out in collaborative law proceedings versus in family law litigation. Ashley-Nicole discusses that Collaborative is an evolved model allowing the value of the assets to be obtained in a more transparent way across North Carolina and throughout the country. How do you know if you even have Crypto or what if your spouse understands it far better than you? Ben discusses the challenges that come with digital assets, such as ensuring clients disclose them to their attorneys, the difference between mining and trading cryptocurrency, and how to store and cash in digital assets. There are so many facets to cryptocurrency that need to be understood and considered when dealing with it divorce cases; from Bitcoin to NFTs and Ethereum to blockchains, Ben uses his knowledge to ensure his clients are being treated fairly. Tune in to this episode of Divorce, Healthy! with Ashley-Nicole Russell, Collaborative Attorney serving Beaufort, Raleigh, Wilmington and Greenville, NC.
