Mitochondrial dysfunction as we age has been linked to muscle dysfunction, metabolism, overall energy levels, and resiliency. But what makes our mitochondria fail as we get older? It turns out to be related to a disruption in a process called mitophagy, the natural repair and recycling process that normally rebuilds and recreates healthy mitochondria to replace damaged ones. When mitophagy fails, mitochondria lose efficiency and cannot do their jobs, and we have a power failure. The compound that's key to keeping mitophagy happening normally is called Urolithin-A, and that compound is lacking in most of us because of a change over time in our gut microbiota. Timeline is renewing this process and making our mitochondria better with their product Mitopure. It will help you repair your cells, increase your strength, and become healthier. In this heartfelt and thought-provoking episode of Father and Joe, Joe Rockey and Father Boniface Hicks tackle one of life's most challenging and deeply personal experiences: navigating fear, uncertainty, and moral dilemmas during a medical crisis. As Joe shares his personal journey of emotional and spiritual turmoil after receiving a distressing letter about his wife's pregnancy, Father Boniface provides guidance, wisdom, and insights grounded in faith. The conversation begins with Joe reflecting on his reaction to the emotionally-charged letter and the subsequent weeks of waiting for clarity. “I don't even know if the way that I handled it and addressed it was right, fair, proper, sinful, or amoral,” Joe shares, admitting his struggle to reconcile worry and faith. For three agonizing weeks, Joe was forced to confront one of life's most difficult questions: What would I do if faced with choosing between the life of my wife and our unborn child?Father Boniface offers clarity and hope, diving deep into the principles of moral theology, the importance of intention, and the concept of choosing the greater good without embracing evil. He explains:“You can never choose evil for any reason. You may choose the lesser good or the greater good, but you can never choose an evil. If two people are drowning, your intention must always be to save both, even if circumstances limit what you can achieve.”Through this meaningful conversation, Joe and Father Boniface also explore:The overwhelming nature of medical bureaucracy and the stress caused by legal disclaimers, which often lack empathy and perspective. The moral principles behind life-and-death decisions, including the “principle of double effect.”How faith, trust, and relationship with God can guide us in moments of uncertainty. The importance of involving trustworthy, morally grounded individuals in difficult decision-making processes.Joe's story sheds light on the raw emotional and spiritual challenges that many families face, especially during pregnancy, and highlights the need for compassion, communication, and trust in both faith and relationships. This episode invites all of us to reflect on how faith shapes our responses to life's toughest moments. As Father Boniface reminds us: “Ultimately, what you want in these moments is not a blanket statement or pre-made decision. You want a relationship with someone you trust—someone morally well-formed and clear-minded—to guide you through the storm.”Tune in to discover how faith, moral principles, and trust can transform anxiety into peace, even in the most difficult situations.Tags:faith and family, moral dilemmas, Catholic faith, Joe Rockey, Father Boniface Hicks, medical crises and faith, faith and pregnancy, moral theology explained, faith and tough decisions, trusting God, religious guidance, faith in uncertainty, Catholic perspective, faith during pregnancy, choosing between life and death, principle of double effect, Catholic morality, living with faith, family and faith podcast, father and Joe podcast, dealing with stress, trusting experts, morality in healthcare, religious response to stress, pregnancy and faith, faith and medical decisions, Catholic teaching on life, moral challenges, faith in hard times, Catholic podcast, faith-based guidance.

Join Wayne Giles as he reflects on the resilience developed through the recovery journey, especially in Step 4 of Alcoholics Anonymous. In this session, Wayne asks how many of us in sobriety have faced challenges we never could have handled in active addiction. He reminds us that it's often the deep inner power—the connection to a higher power—that enables us to overcome life's calamities.Prior to engaging in the AA program, many of us experienced a pattern of moving from one crisis to the next, seemingly stuck in a cycle of chaos. But by embracing this manner of living and aligning with the spiritual principles of the 12 Steps, we begin to tap into a strength far greater than ourselves. It's this power that helps us face life's challenges with a newfound sense of peace and purpose.Wayne's story encourages us to reflect on our own journey and recognize the growth we've achieved through this process. Join Wayne Giles as he dives into the paradoxical nature of faith and strength, reflecting on how true courage is facing fear despite feeling it. Drawing from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and his personal experiences, Wayne helps us understand that faith isn't about avoiding fear, but about walking straight into it with spiritual empowerment. In Step 4, we are challenged to face our fears, weaknesses, and past mistakes, and as Wayne shares, this process is where real courage is born.“The verdict of the ages is that faith means courage.” In the journey of recovery, faith provides the strength to face life's most daunting challenges, including our inner struggles. This step in the AA process invites us to rely on a power greater than ourselves and to continue growing spiritually, even when fear is present. Through this, we discover that true courage emerges from confronting life head-on.Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and the Interactive Step Experience (ISE) both guide us through these powerful lessons, teaching us to face fear with faith and courage. With the help of the Spirit, we learn to walk through our fears and challenges, knowing we are supported by something greater than ourselves. For more content, please like, comment, and share. Today's episode is a reair from 2023. Explore the profound themes of encouragement and resilience in the face of life's battles. Drawing inspiration from biblical stories, we reflect on the struggles faced by figures such as King David and Job, emphasizing the significance of community and support within the body of Christ. Discover how, through unity and reliance on others, we can find the strength to persevere during tough times. We'll discuss the challenges of connecting within large church congregations and the vital role that small, discipleship-oriented groups play in providing companionship and strength. In this episode, we take a closer look at the story of Job and his friends, who, despite their intentions to comfort him, misunderstood the nature of his suffering. We unpack the spiritual battles at play in Job's life and highlight his unwavering faith that led to his ultimate restoration and God's glory. Additionally, we reflect on the life of David, reminding us that early hardships do not determine our final outcome, and emphasize the fulfillment of God's purpose as the true measure of our lives. These narratives inspire us to remember that where we are now is not the end of our story. Listen in as we delve into the biblical account of David seeking divine guidance in times of adversity, showcasing the power of spiritual inquiry and perseverance. We draw lessons from David's journey, encouraging listeners to trust in divine guidance and fight for what is rightfully theirs. Highlighting the importance of unity and fairness within a community, we stress the value of prayer, encouragement, and mutual support. With inspiration from Joshua's commission to be strong and courageous, we are reminded that God is with us, and our stories will ultimately conclude in triumph and glory. Sometimes life hands us a situation, or an experience, that we never expected. Maybe it's something exciting, like a new relationship or adventure, but sometimes it can be full of sorrow, too, like the loss of a job we loved or an unexpected illness that derails everything. But it's in those moments that we find out who we are, and what God has made us capable of, giving us an opportunity to really show up for others. This week, we sit down with Josh Baldwin, a worship leader, songwriter, and artist with over two decades of experience. Josh opens up about walking through a challenging season of mental health in his family, and how he turned to music for comfort and direction from the Lord, which he now uses to bring comfort and peace to his listeners. Later, we'll hear from Diane Chew, known as Dementia Coach Diane, a life coach and caregiver for her husband, Ben, who has Lewy Body Dementia. Diane shares practical tips for dementia care and emphasizes self-care for caregivers, drawing from her experiences of over fifty years with Ben and the challenges of his cognitive decline. She finds solace and community through social media and discusses the crucial role of faith in navigating these challenges. I was just responding and reacting to what felt like a constant emergency.” - Diane Chew “I needed somehow to process everything that was happening every day. I wanted to find the blessings, but I was often trapped in my own head, and I was isolated and alone and scared and I didn't know what to do.” - Diane Chew “We have three choices in life when we face circumstances that we didn't expect. We can change them, we can accept them, or we can suffer.” - Diane Chew “It takes constant practice to look for the blessings, and to stay connected to something bigger than my thoughts and feelings.” - Diane Chew “It takes stubbornness, I think, to not go down with the ship. I am not going to give up my life. Ben wouldn't want me to do that.” - Diane Chew “The Holy Spirit will give us the wisdom to know what I just need to let go of, and what I can act on, and to give me that strength and faith to act when I can and let go when I can't.” - Diane Chew ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel!
