"FORGOTTEN LEADING LADIES FROM THE GOLDEN AGE OF HOLLYWOOD" - 11/18/2024 A friend of mine once said that in Hollywood the toilet flushes every seven years. Meaning after about seven years, no one remembers who you are. Whether that's true or not, there are many classic film stars who were once popular, who have faded away into obscurity. WELCOME BACK TO IDEAS DON'T BLEED!This week, we're joined by Simon Spurrier (Coda / Damn Them All) as we discuss his comics origins, wrestling with “playing the hits” in comics, taking over writing duties on The Flash, and more!IDB is an all-new weekly podcast presented by Ashcan Press and featuring Matthew Rosenberg, the Supple Boiz, and wonderful guests from the world of comic books! Our theme song is “Where's the Poison” by Summer People.Enjoy!Hello again. This podcast is a true miracle getting to you this week, as we tried to tape it last week and all hell broke loose. I had deadlines, Ethan got super sick, Si had stuff come up, and Griffin remained dead. So we scrambled to tape it yesterday and get it edited for today. And, as always, when I say “we” I mean Ethan but I wanted to take some credit. So give “us” a big round of applause.I was very excited to finally get Si on the show. In addition to being friends for years, he is a writer who constantly gets me excited about comics. From character defining runs on X-MEN books and HELLBLAZER, to groundbreaking creator owned books like CODA, ANGELIC, GODSHAPER, CRY HAVOC, THE SPIRE, STEP BY BLOODY STEP, and DAMN THEM ALL, each new title changes and reinvents what I think I know about his work. So it was a blast to get to catch up, and even more fun to get to pick his brain about how he does what he does.Hope you dig the interview. And if you do, I'd urge you to grab some of his books from your local shop. And this week in IDBClassic we have Part II of our interview with Writer/Artist/Raconteur Ryan Stegman. Enjoy all the weird s**t that comes out of his mouth and preorder his new series THE MISSIONARY at your local comic shop today. That's it for me.Stay safe. Take care of each other. Most conspiracy theories are organic but the ones being criticized by the media have usually been created by the Deep State – they use absurdity to make those who logically speculate look like mental misfits. Congruently, most Americans see time as their enemy and have bought into a view of the past and future as linear. When you linearly observe the world and things are going well, the population is happy and confident. If you linearly view the world and things are going badly, the population sees nothing but terrible times ahead. This linear outlook of history and the future is not rational or supported by facts. The ultimate resolution should be rational and well-thought out or it could end in a fiery fight to the death between countries or generations.
