In this week's episode, we wrap up Season 2 of Grow Guides with a relaxed but important conversation about the reality of growing cannabis at home, and why it's nowhere near as complicated as many people think. We give a simple overview of the growing process from seed to harvest, touching on the key stages growers need to understand while also reminding listeners that perfection is not required to grow good cannabis. Too many new growers get overwhelmed by information online, worrying about every little detail before they've even planted a seed. The truth is, cannabis wants to grow. Most of the learning comes from actually getting started, making mistakes, and improving one grow at a time. We talk about building confidence, keeping things simple, and not being afraid to jump in and learn through experience. It's a positive and encouraging end to the season, aimed especially at newer growers who might still be sitting on the fence about starting their first grow. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported Grow Guides throughout Season 2. We appreciate every listener, every question, and every member of this amazing community. We'll be back soon for the next season!

Drawing from her background in biomedical science and her work leading Infinite Tree and Grow It From Home, Emily shares her journey from infectious disease research into cannabis farming, and how she applies data-driven methods to breeding, field trials, and terpene selection. They explore the process of developing stable, uniform cannabis genetics, the role of sensory evaluation (“the nose”) in selecting cultivars, and the importance of simplifying cannabis cultivation for home growers. The conversation also dives into practical growing techniques, including seed starting, drying and curing methods, and how to assess plant health and readiness. They discuss common challenges growers face, from germination myths and hermaphrodite stress to the differences between indoor and outdoor genetics. Additionally, they explore the evolving landscape of cannabis access, including home growing, seed distribution, and the impact of hemp regulations on small businesses and patients. The dialogue further highlights DIY approaches to cannabis as medicine, cannabinoid differences such as CBD, THC, and CBG, and the importance of education in empowering growers. Finally, they touch on the broader vision of making cannabis cultivation more approachable, sustainable, and accessible to communities nationwide. This is a conversation for anyone who wants to better understand the science behind cannabis cultivation, explore practical growing techniques, and gain the confidence to approach cannabis as both a plant and a tool for self-sufficiency. A case that sparks debate about motive, punishment, and how society views these crimes. Billy brings one of the strangest grow stories we've seen in a while, after plants were discovered growing underneath the M1 motorway in Northamptonshire. A reminder that people will grow just about anywhere… even under Britain's busiest roads. Dr. Margaret shifts gears to New Zealand, where the government is looking to cut red tape in an effort to boost its domestic hemp industry. A potentially big move for farmers and manufacturers if it plays out as planned. John covers new research suggesting that legal access is linked to reduced suicide rates among older adults — a serious and important finding that adds weight to ongoing reform debates. And finally, we look at growing signals from the US as Trump prepares to reschedule cannabis to Schedule III, a move that could reshape research, medicine, and the wider industry almost overnight. Another packed episode full of strange locations, policy shifts, and research that keeps the conversation moving forward.
