It's time for another Listener Mail episode, and as always, the High on Home Grown community brings the questions that get us thinking! This week we discuss the relationship between compost and pest management, and whether using homemade compost indoors carries the same risks as bringing pests in from the garden. We also dive into outdoor growing, covering the common pests, diseases, and warning signs growers should be keeping an eye out for throughout the season, from powdery mildew and honeydew to insects and environmental issues. We answer questions about reusing Grove-style curing bags, how long they last, and whether they need cleaning between harvests. The conversation then turns to travel, favourite holiday destinations, cannabis tourism, social clubs, and why consumption lounges haven't become more widespread in parts of the United States. Finally, we discuss what makes certain cannabis strains command such high prices, looking at genetics, rarity, breeding work, marketing, hype, and whether some strains are genuinely worth the premium. As always, it's a laid-back mix of growing advice, cannabis culture, travel chat, and community questions, with plenty of laughs along the way.

In this episode, we welcome Boudica Seeds back to the show to tackle one of the most debated topics in cannabis culture: black ash vs white ash. Does black ash really mean your cannabis is poor quality? Is white ash a sign of perfectly grown flower? Or have growers and smokers been chasing a myth for years? We dive deep into the science and the speculation, discussing what actually affects the way a joint burns. From cultivation practices and nutrient management to drying, curing, moisture content, and rolling techniques, we break down the factors that can contribute to black ash and uneven burns. We also talk about common misconceptions, what growers can do to improve the smoking experience of their harvests, and whether ash colour is really a reliable indicator of quality at all. A fascinating conversation that challenges some long-held beliefs and offers practical advice for growers looking to produce cleaner-burning, better-smoking flower.

In this episode, Macky sits down with Dan from Legal Growers UK for an in-depth discussion about home cultivation, cannabis law, and the future of reform in the UK. Dan joins us to explain the goals of Legal Growers UK, the arguments for allowing adults to grow their own plants, and some of the biggest misconceptions surrounding home cultivation. We explore the current legal landscape, discuss the challenges facing campaigners, and examine how home growing could fit into a sensible regulatory framework. Along the way, we tackle some difficult questions, challenge assumptions from both sides of the debate, and look at what real-world reform could mean for growers, patients, and the wider public. Whether you're interested in cultivation, policy, personal freedoms, or simply want to understand the arguments being made for change, this conversation offers plenty of food for thought. John brings a story about changes to gun ownership forms in the USA, arguing that with cannabis being rescheduled, restrictions on medical cannabis patients may no longer be appropriate. Finally, Smee tells us about three men in the UK who have been jailed for growing cannabis. I hope you enjoy the episode! In this week's episode, we wrap up Season 2 of Grow Guides with a relaxed but important conversation about the reality of growing cannabis at home, and why it's nowhere near as complicated as many people think. We give a simple overview of the growing process from seed to harvest, touching on the key stages growers need to understand while also reminding listeners that perfection is not required to grow good cannabis. Too many new growers get overwhelmed by information online, worrying about every little detail before they've even planted a seed. The truth is, cannabis wants to grow. Most of the learning comes from actually getting started, making mistakes, and improving one grow at a time. We talk about building confidence, keeping things simple, and not being afraid to jump in and learn through experience. It's a positive and encouraging end to the season, aimed especially at newer growers who might still be sitting on the fence about starting their first grow. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported Grow Guides throughout Season 2. We appreciate every listener, every question, and every member of this amazing community. We'll be back soon for the next season!

This week we spoke with Dan, a cannabis activist from the UK. Dan has some interesting ideas that he believes could help push the UK government towards legalising cannabis for recreational use. He is part of an organisation called Legal Grower UK, and we chat with him about his ideas, what he thinks is going to work, what he sees for the future of cannabis in the UK, and much more. We also have a special livestream coming up with Dan! It will take place on Wednesday 3rd June at 10pm UK time, live on our YouTube channel. We need you guys there to help us challenge Dan's ideas and find arguments against some of his points, so it should make for a really interesting discussion. Join us for the session, it's going to be a good show! Do you have any suggestions for guest on the show? Let us know by getting in touch over at Percys, or on our Discord Server!

In this week's Listener Mail episode, we answer a huge range of questions from the amazing High on Home Grown community, covering everything from soil health and trichome production to dream grow setups and the future of cannabis laws in the USA. We discuss compacted living soil and how to keep soil healthy throughout a grow, whether growers ever find that one “perfect strain” they'd be happy with forever, and what our ultimate no-budget dream grow rooms would look like. We also get into the possible implications of proposed cannabis seed restrictions in the US, and whether the industry is slowly being pushed toward a pharmaceutical-only future. There are also questions about curing and storing cannabis properly, favourite things to do while high, essential pieces of grow equipment every grower should own, and whether freshly dried bud can sometimes hit harder than fully cured flower. FreeNuggz came loaded with questions this week too, sparking discussions about boosting trichome production late in flower, using fan leaves for nutrition, how to tell when autoflowers are truly finished, maintaining living soil over multiple runs, and some seriously stoned theories involving light cycles before harvest

In this week's Grow Guides, we're focusing on the small tools that make a big difference in the grow room. Not the big-ticket items like lights or tents, but the everyday tools growers rely on to keep plants healthy and problems under control. We talk about the essentials like EC and PPM meters, pH pens, and hygrometers, explaining why accurate measurements can save you a lot of headaches. We also cover practical tools such as pruning snips, LST clips, and other plant training aids that help shape plants and maximise growth. We discuss the usefulness of a jeweller's loupe for checking trichomes, along with simple but important gear like watering tools, moisture checks, spray bottles, and sticky traps for early pest detection. Finally, we touch on one of the most underrated tools of all: keeping a grow journal, and how tracking what happens in your grow can help you improve with every cycle. A simple but essential episode that highlights the tools every grower should have within arm's reach if they want smoother, more successful grows.
