Ben Goessling, Andrew Krammer and Emily Leiker discuss the coming and goings on the Vikings roster during the start of NFL free agency. They first discuss running back Aaron Jones' return amid a lackluster RB market. Tight end T.J. Hockenson agreed to a more than $5 million pay cut to stay. Linebacker Eric Wilson's return makes sense. Safety Harrison Smith is released but may still return. The early outside addition is ex-Steelers corner James Pierre; what does he bring? Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is joining the Packers. The Vikings need a punter. Oh, yeah, they need a new quarterback, too, while edge rusher Jonathan Greenard wants a new contract.

Live around 5 p.m., Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise welcomes Steelers insider Christopher Carter to react to the first day of the so-called "legal tampering" period ahead of NFL free agency. Specifically, they offer thoughts on major moves for Jamel Dean and Michael Pittman Jr. from GM Omar Khan and new coach Mike McCarthy. How much can Dean help the secondary across from Joey Porter Jr. at cornerback? What's next for Jalen Ramsey if Dean gets most reps outside? Where does Asante Samuel Jr. fit into the picture after re-signing earlier in the day? And could the Steelers still select a cornerback in the NFL draft next month. On the receiver front, how complete is the Steelers' group with Pittman joining Metcalf? Do they still need to land a big draft name like Denzel Boston, Jordyn Tyson, Makai Lemon or Carnell Tate? Or is Roman Wilson enough? Our duo tackles those questions, plus departures from names including Kenneth Gainwell and James Pierre. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Did GM Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy do the right thing in giving Pittman a rich contract worth close to $20 million per season? What impact will this deal make on Khan's draft plans? Specifically as it pertains to selecting a receiver from a loaded class that includes names like Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson, Denzel Boston, Makai Lemon and Omar Cooper Jr.? Should we make anything of the Colts choosing the younger Alec Pierce for an extension over Pittman? And what impact might this move make on Aaron Rodgers' willingness to return? On the Friday edition of the North Shore Dive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Ray Fittipaldo ponder GM Omar Khan's trade options in the upcoming NFL draft. Would he be more likely to trade up a chase his preferred big-name receiver from the group of Denzel Boston, Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson and Makai Lemon? Or trade back with an eye toward stockpiling 2027 draft capital, when big-name quarterbacks like Dante Moore, Arch Manning, Sam Leavitt, Julian Sayin and LaNorris Sellers are expected to be available? Or is it possible that the right pick could fall to them at No. 21 in the eyes of top draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks need at "playmaker" positions like corner, safety and receiver. Should getting secondary help for Joey Porter Jr. be a top priority, as the future for internal options like James Pierre, Asante Samuel Jr. and Jalen Ramsey looks murky? Could a top safety like Caleb Downs, Dillon Thieneman, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren or Bud Clark be a wise investment given the depth of this class at that position? Why are Chris Johnson and Keonte Scott corners potentially worth watching? And will receivers like Jordyn Tyson, Denzel Boston, Carnell Tate and others be available in enough abundance to help the 2026 team? Our duo tackles those questions and more. Mark talked about the debate that has been ongoing this week after Joey Porter slammed Ben Roethlisberger for being a bad teammate. Kaboom said from 2004-2010, ‘you couldn't find a bigger jerk,' but he does believe Ben changed as he matured. Mark shared a story that involved Jason Bay, who won Rookie of the Year in baseball the same year as Ben in football. Did Porter throw more shade at James Harrison than he did at Big Ben? The guys wondered if there would be retribution from Deebo or Ben back at Peezy. More w/ Mark – We are starting to see more and more mock drafts with the Steelers taking Ty Simpson. How extensive will the homework be on QBs? How much money is Mark willing to pay Malik Willis? More w/ Mark – Mark thinks there is a better chance Patrick Queen gets an extension than him getting released. Mark said everyone feels up in the air with the new coaching staff. The guys ran through some pending free agents and if Mark believes they will be back in Pittsburgh. Mark would rather bring back Asante Samuel than James Pierre. Mark expects Joey Porter Jr. to get an ‘easy' $20M/year deal. Is the football future of Broderick Jones in question? Mark laughed at the idea of Nick Herbig being traded for a backup QB. Mark questioned how enamored the Steelers are with Will Howard because he hasn't played a snap. Mark can't believe people still read books.

On the Saturday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Brian Batko look at keys for NFL Week 12 against the Chicago Bears. Can DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, Darnell Washington, Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith generate more yards after the catch? Regardless of whether Aaron Rodgers or Mason Rudolph is the starting quarterback? Is that the key to this passing game reaching expectations for OC Arthur Smith? And what can be learned from that group's early-season success? Our duo tackles those questions, then makes predictions for whether T.J.
