How much of a test will Caleb Williams, Rome Odunze, D.J. Moore, Colston Loveland and a sneakily effective Bears passing game be for coach Mike Tomlin's re-tooled secondary that's found success with names like Kyle Dugger, James Pierre and Brandin Echols playing next to Joey Porter Jr. and Jalen Ramsey? Is the Bears' defense underrated amid a slew of forced turnovers? And how is coach Ben Johnson performing in his first year leading a pro team? Our duo tackles those questions and more. November 19, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 52 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers making a few transactions since our last show with one of those being the signing of QB/WR John Rhys Plumlee back to the practice squad on Tuesday. We talk about why Plumlee was likely added to the practice squad in addition to discussing why five other players were brough in for tryouts on Tuesday. Alex and I then go over the list of injured players the Steelers have heading into Week 12 with QB Aaron Rodgers obviously being our main focus due to a fracture of some kind in his left wrist. We discuss what all HC Mike Tomlin had to say on Tuesday about Rodgers possibly playing on Sunday against the Chicago Bears and whether our gut feelings tell us when it comes to that possibly happening. Should the Steelers strongly consider starting QB Mason Rudolph against the Bears regardless of what transpires this week with Rodgers? Alex and I attack that question in this show and also talk about the possibility of Rodgers being the backup on Sunday against the Bears. We also talk a little about rookie QB Will Howard possibly getting a few first-team reps this week with Rodgers slowed by injury. As usual, Alex and I parse all of the notable talking points that came out of Tomlin Tuesday. We discuss what Tomlin had to say about playing time on Sunday for CB Darius Slay and CB James Pierre and if indeed the former will wind up resuming as the starter against the Bears if he clears concussion protocol this week. We discuss what playing time on Sunday might and should look like on Sunday against the Bears when it comes to both Slay and Pierre. Tomlin talked some about TE Darnell Washington and his usage in the offense on Tuesday, so we make sure to dive a bit deeper into those comments. We also talk about what Tomlin had to say about the reaction S Jalen Ramsey had to Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase spitting on him in the second half of the Week 11 Sunday game at Acrisure Stadium. With Chase having his one-game suspension upheld on Tuesday as part of his appeal process, Alex and I address what should happen to every player that spits on another player during a game and how the NFL needs to take a more defined punishment stance moving forward. With the All-22 tape from the Steelers' Sunday home win against the Bengals now fully digested by us, Alex and I discuss the good, bad and ugly that we uncovered from that. We start with the defense and go over how that unit effectively did against the pass on Sunday and the changes that we have seen schematically the last several weeks with Ramsey and Kyle Dugger now manning the two safety positions. We also discuss the three outside linebacker packages the Steelers used on Sunday against the Bengals and how effective that was. After talking about the defensive play on Sunday, Alex and I move on to talk some about what we saw from the Steelers offense on the all-22 tape from the game against the Bengals. We were both less enthused when it came to that side of the football and we explain why. We also wonder if Rudolph might try to push the football down the field more on Sunday against the Bears should he indeed get the start in that contest over the injured Rodgers. Alex and I mix in quite a few tape observations during this show and we make sure to discuss the recent play of several different players as well. Alex previews a tape study that he is working on when it comes to Steelers DT Keeanu Benton as well. This 110-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted and we wrap things up by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. In a brutal AFC North showdown at Acrisure Stadium on November 16, 2025, the Cincinnati Bengals' flickering playoff aspirations were snuffed out in a 34-12 thrashing by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dropping to 3-7, Cincinnati's defense showed early grit but crumbled under second-half turnovers, while an offense led by Joe Flacco sputtered against a revamped Steelers unit. The loss halts any momentum from their Week 7 upset over Pittsburgh, exposing persistent issues in protection and execution. The Bengals struck first, marching 75 yards on their opening drive capped by Flacco's 28-yard touchdown strike to Tee Higgins, who extended his scoring streak to four games and sits third league-wide with seven receiving TDs. Cincinnati's defense, anchored by Myles Murphy's career-high seven tackles (including a sack) and Oren Burks' nine stops, blanked Pittsburgh after their initial field goal, forcing four punts and limiting them to 188 yards through halftime. Chase Brown powered the ground game with 99 rushing yards on 18 carries—his fourth straight 100-yard scrimmage outing—adding hope amid a 9-6 deficit. But the third quarter flipped the script. Flacco's errant pass was swiped by Steelers safety Kyle Dugger, who sprinted 74 yards for a pick-six, igniting a 20-9 Pittsburgh lead. The Bengals clawed to 13-20 late in the frame, but a fumbled snap led to cornerback James Pierre's 32-yard scoop-and-score, ballooning the margin to 27-12. Mason Rudolph, stepping in for the wrist-injured Aaron Rodgers, sealed it with a 5-yard toss to Kenneth Gainwell, who tallied two TD catches. Flacco finished 23-of-40 for 199 yards, one score, and the costly interception—snapping his 100+ passer rating streak. Ja'Marr Chase, double-teamed relentlessly, managed just three catches for 30 yards after his 16-reception explosion versus Pittsburgh earlier. A sideline scuffle saw Steelers' Jalen Ramsey ejected for punching Chase amid unproven spitting allegations, adding fuel to the rivalry. Head coach Zac Taylor lamented, "You feel all the losses. They all eat at you... Our option is to come back tomorrow and keep fighting." Flacco acknowledged Pittsburgh's adjustments: "They had a couple guys on him [Chase] more often... We've got to match that." With a red-hot New England squad next, Cincinnati must rally or face a lost season. The Bengals' defense forced Pittsburgh into inefficiency early, but self-inflicted wounds—turnovers, penalties, and injuries to Cam Taylor-Britt (foot) and Trey Hendrickson (hip, out second straight)—proved fatal. At 3-7, their wild-card path is a steep climb, demanding urgent fixes in a division where the Steelers (6-4) now lead comfortably. Music from #InAudio: https://inaudio.org/ Track Name Holy (Trap). Mark believes we need to think about what receiver could fit into the offense. Mark said the Steelers called, but it was too expensive for some receivers who were not moved! Mark doesn't anticipate Elliott coming back. Jalen Ramsey is going to be the starting safety. Joe thought Kyle Dugger wasn't noticeable for the Steelers against Indianapolis, but a good thing.

On the Tuesday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel, host Noah Hiles welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to analyze the defensive front seven's impact on the Week 9 victory against the Indianapolis Colts. Why were T.J. Watt and Payton Wilson Ray's two most impactful players? Has Wilson arrived as a do-everything linebacker within coach Mike Tomlin's defense? Did his stellar outing help T.J. Watt be more disruptive? And to what degree can Watt and Cam Heyward be unlocked when names like Derrick Harmon, Joey Porter Jr., Alex Highsmith, Keeanu Benton and others are performing at a high level as well? Our duo tackles those questions, then talks about the secondary. Was the success in zone against the Colts repeatable? Or will opponents force the Steelers to prove they can stop them in man coverage? Will Jalen Ramsey stay at safety amid DeShon Elliott's injury? What would that mean for corners like Darius Slay Jr. and Brandin Echols? And other safeties including Kyle Dugger, Juan Thornhill and Jabrill Peppers? Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Live around 5 p.m., Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise gives his thoughts on the Steelers' moves -- or lack thereof -- at the NFL trade deadline. Did GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin properly balance the team's present with its future? Especially with numerous extra NFL draft picks in hand with the event coming to Pittsburgh? Did they secure enough help for the struggling secondary around names like Jalen Ramsey, Joey Porter Jr., Kyle Dugger, Darius Slay Jr. and Brandin Echols? Does Aaron Rodgers now have enough pass-catching help alongside names like DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, Darnell Washington, Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth? And how much can the acquisition of Marquez Valdes-Scantling bolster the group? Paul tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. November 3, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 45 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into our overarching thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 9 Sunday home win against the Indianapolis Colts. In our weekly housekeeping portion of this Monday show, which is sponsored by the fine folks at TouringPlans.com, Alex and I talk about the Sunday inactive list, the few injuries sustained by the Steelers in their 27-20 win against the Colts, and the several transactions the team has made since our Friday show. The Steelers defense played extremely well on Sunday against the Colts as they rebounded following the unit's poor Week 8 showing against the Green Bay Packers. Because of that stellar performance by that unit against the Colts, Alex and I start on that side of the football. Alex and I go over the schematic and personnel changes the Steelers made on defense on Sunday against the Colts that resulted in the unit registering numerous takeaways and five sacks of Colts QB Daniel Jones. We discuss the several big plays made by the defense on Sunday and go over some key stats when it comes to the scheme used. While the Steelers defense was far from perfect on Sunday, the good clearly made a difference in the game. Will the Steelers continue to use Jalen Ramsey and Kyle Dugger as their two starting safeties? We discuss that possibility and go over several snap counts on that side of the football. After thoroughly breaking down the play of the Steelers' defense on Sunday, Alex and I then discuss the good, bad, and ugly from the offense against the Colts. That unit was able to produce 24 points off of turnovers and even without registering any explosive plays of 20 yards or longer. We talk about how the offense was clunky overall on Sunday but managed to produce three touchdowns just the same. WR Roman Wilson fumbled away the football late in Sunday's game, so we discuss that play. We also discuss some key metrics related to the play of Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers against the Colts. We make sure to highlight the play of TE Darnell Washington, WR Calvin Austin III , and RB Kenneth Gainwell during this show. The Steelers special team units performed well on Sunday, so Alex and I discuss the contributions in that phase of the game. We also break down the brilliant decision that special teams coordinator Danny Smith made in the second half as part of a kickoff. Ramsey held court with the team on Saturday night, according to Rodgers, so we discuss that little tidbit later in this show. With the annual NFL trade deadline now upon us, Alex and I look at the possibility and probability related to the Steelers trading for a wide receiver. Could Washington Commanders WR Deebo Samuel be an underrated trade option for the Steelers? What other positions might the Steelers consider trading for other than wide receiver? We attempt to answer those questions later in this show. Did the Steelers win convincing enough on Sunday? Alex and I discuss that flawed question and narrative making the rounds on Monday morning. This 103-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted and we wrap things up by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Should GM Omar Khan and coach Mike Tomlin be aggressive in making moves after their team took down one of the NFL's best in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts? Should they look to give QB Aaron Rodgers another weapon alongside DK Metcalf, Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin III, Pat Freiermuth, Jonnu Smith or Darnell Washington? Or would another pass catcher not receive enough targets in OC Arthur Smith's offense to be worthwhile? And does this defense still need another DB next to Jalen Ramsey, Kyle Dugger, Darius Slay Jr. and Joey Porter Jr.? Or did the win against the Colts ease concern about the secondary? Paul tackles those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.

Can T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, Jalen Ramsey and coach Mike Tomlin's defense repeat their dominance of Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Warren at the potent Colts offense? Or will they backslide like they have at times earlier this season? Why was stopping the run with names like Patrick Queen and Payton Wilson they key to getting pressure on Jones and forcing him into turnovers generated by the likes of Jack Sawyer and Joey Porter Jr.? And what impact did new acquisition Kyle Dugger have on the game? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders how Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Jaylen Warren, Pat Freiermuth, Cavlin Austin III, Darnell Washington and OC Arthur Smith's offense can improve after they scored enough points to win but miss capitalizing on some opportunities.
