In professional baseball, the team with the biggest budget does not win all the championships. Today, we look at ways to boost your cyber defensive skills with a limited budget. We must start with a state government that seems to “get it” when it comes to cybersecurity. James Weaver documents the thoroughness of their prevention system which includes a Joint Cyber Task Force. This may be a model for other states with funding, but he admits much can be accomplished by leveraging federal initiatives and taking advantage of training programs. THE FEDS Eudora Fleishman from Fairfield City California refers to programs provided by the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) for local communities. The link will give your local government and education institution guidelines, working groups, and more. Eudora documents that CISA will help your organization make a presentation for funding. https://www.cisa.gov/resources-tools/groups/state-local-tribal-and-territorial-government-coordinating-council TRAINING James Weaver from North Carolina had a poignant quote about cybersecurity training, “it is more vocational than high education.” He casually mentions that, just in the state of North Carolina they have 21,000 job openings in cyber. The fact of the matter is that we have a serious gap in people who can administer and defend systems. Many Human Resources Department demand a four-year degree and eight years of experience. That kind of inflexible thinking will delay any proper way to address the cyber crisis we are facing. HELP The subject matter experts all agree that one key part of preparation is partnering with commercial organizations that have the experience to prevent a cyber-attack. The episode has an obvious conclusion: local governments and educational institutions can take advantage of offerings to make up for lack of cyber security funding.

Hello again Racing Ears, This is a special episode where I was fortunate to be able to have a chat with Rob Dyson and Rick Knoop at the same time. Rob and Rick were both very gracious to spend time with me chatting about sports car racing / professional road racing in all of its splendor and lore that was rekindled during this glorious phone call during Christmas Break 2023. Rob Dyson is a professional race car driver and team principal at Dyson Racing and has been involved in the sport for over 45 years. I first observed Rob Dyson and Price Cobb driving the #16 Porsche 962 at Laguna Seca in the 1985 Nissan Monterey Triple Crown weekend which was a part of the IMSA Camel GT series, the same race where I first observed Rick Knoop driving the Jim Busby Racing #67 BF Goodrich Special Porsche 962. In 2001, I became reaquainted with sports car racing again following nearby events in the American Le Mans Series at Sears Point and Laguna Seca. In 2002, Team Dyson brought out a new to them Lola MG that was in the LMP 675 class to Laguna Seca and subsequently had their first runs with the car after acquiring it after Petit Le Mans that year. One of the greatest triumphs in motorsports that I have witnessed occurred in 2003 at Sears Point were Dyson Racing in their Lola MG LMP 675 #16 racing car driven by James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger beat the ever dominant Team Joest Audi R8 LMP 900 for the outright win at the 2003 Grand Prix of Sonoma. This victory has stood out in my memory for many years. I want to sincerely express my thanks to both Rick Knoop and Rob Dyson and Dyson Racing for allowing this call to happen. Episode 206!? This week we are giving our thoughts on "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem"! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is a 2023 American animated superhero film based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters created by Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman. A reboot of the Turtles film series, it was directed by Jeff Rowe, who co-wrote the screenplay with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit, from a story he co-wrote with Brendan O'Brien, Rogen, and Goldberg. The film stars the voices of Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, and Brady Noon as the titular Turtles, alongside an ensemble voice cast that includes Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, John Cena, Rogen, Rose Byrne, Natasia Demetriou, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Paul Rudd, Post Malone, and Hannibal Buress. In the film, the Turtles go on a hunt for a mysterious crime syndicate, but trouble arises when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them. The story explores themes of family, acceptance, and conformity. Plans for an animated Turtles film with involvement by Rogen began in 2018. In June 2020, the project was officially announced, with Rogen, Goldberg, and James Weaver producing through their company, Point Grey Pictures, Rowe as director, and O'Brien as screenwriter. Kyler Spears joined soon after as co-director. Seeking to explore the teenage aspect of the Turtles, the filmmakers drew inspiration from teenage coming-of-age films. The majority of the cast was announced in March 2023. The animation was provided by Mikros Animation in Montreal and Paris and Cinesite in Vancouver and Montreal, and was primarily influenced by school notebook sketches. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed the score. Mutant Mayhem was screened as a work-in-progress at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 12, 2023, and was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on August 2, 2023. It has grossed $180 million worldwide and received positive reviews for its performances, screenplay, and stylized animation; several critics considered it the best Turtles film. A follow-up television series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is set to premiere on Paramount+, and a sequel film is in development. When COVID-19 caused schools to keep students of all grades at home, those arguably most disadvantaged by this were musicians. Many barriers stood in the way of getting students back in the music room: aerosolization from instruments and voice, close proximity between students, secretions from brass instruments, and antiquated ventilation systems in thousands of school buildings. Early projections indicated that musicians would not get back in the room for 2 YEARS! Well, that didn't happen, and our guests are a huge reason why. Steven and Yasi talk to Dr. Mark Spede, Director of Bands and Conductor of the Symphonic Band at Clemson University, and Dr. James Weaver, Director of Performing Arts and Sports for the National Federation of State High School Associations. These two gentlemen collaborated on expedient and collaborative research that helped crack the code on how to play music in a post-pandemic school environment. To read more on their groundbreaking research, go to https://www.nfhs.org/articles/unprecedented-international-coalition-led-by-performing-arts-organizations-to-commission-covid-19-study/For more on National Federation of State High Schools' online education platform, go to https://nfhslearn.com/For more resources, go to https://athletesandthearts.com/Bios: Dr. James Weaver is the Director of Performing Arts and Sports for the National Federation of State High School Associations. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Ken F. Levin, Jason Netter, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers. This week we are excited to welcome Dr. John Forbes to the Weekly Space Hangout. John is a theoretical and computational astrophysicist at the Flatiron Institute, a division of the Simons Foundation, in New York City. He studies how galaxies and stars form using supercomputer simulations, statistical modeling, and machine learning. John recently collaborated with Dr. Nia Imara from UC Santa Cruz and James Weaver from Harvard to develop a series of nine models that incorporate the three forces that govern how stellar nurseries are formed: turbulence, gravity, and magnetic fields. Using these models, they have 3D printed colorized nebulae "marbles" that visually represent the filaments and other material found in star forming regions. John earned his undergraduate degree at Caltech, a PhD at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and did a fellowship at Harvard before joining the Flatiron Institute. He is a huge fan of science fiction & board games. His favorite science fiction books include The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu, and Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. His current favorite game is Alchemists, though for scientists some of the game mechanics (like losing a point of reputation for having too few theories published at a conference) might hit a bit close to home. On a more serious note, John cares a lot about social justice in & out of astronomy. Until hear death in 2019, Annabel and her husband James Weaver, spent a lot of time together in hospitals - in patient and outpatient wards, waiting in makeshift waiting rooms in corridors and atriums. And while you or I might notice things about the way in which the hospital looks - James and Annabel noticed the way in which is sounded. James is perusing a PhD at Queen Mary University of London into acoustics and the intelligibility of sound - and in this podcast we delve into the sound of a hospital, and why it can make communication between staff and patients so hard. Andy won Le Mans with Jaguar in 1988 and is a three time winner of the Daytona 24hrs and a two time winner of the Sebring 12hrs which makes him one of only a handful of drivers to win Sports cars triple crown. Andy talks about cycling 30 miles each way to Silverstone with his cheese and pickle sandwiches to watch the cars racing at Silverstone as a young Boy and making the step up to racing himself and winning the British Formula three championship and the Macau GP. An incident with Jan Lammers in the Macau GP bizarrely led to a friendship with Jan who was also racing for Jaguar in sports cars, this opened the door for Andy to test for Jaguar and become one of their factory drivers and he repaid their faith by winning Le Mans for them in 1988. Andy has raced for Dyson racing in the ALMS and has been a huge part of their success along with Chris Dyson, James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger, Andy tells us about his horrifying accident while testing at Mosport where the car flipped several times in an accident that lasted well over 200 metres. He also has a passion for electric vehicles which surprised us and he talks about where he see's the future going for the automotive industry. Andy is currently the test driver for Bugatti and in 2019 he set the worlds first speed over 300mph in a hypercar at 304.77 mph!!! in the Bugatti Chiron. If you watch the run on YouTube it looks pretty calm and easy but Andy tells us what it was really like! Podcast with Wallace and WeaverYou never quite know where the conversation will go with these podcasts, but it’s safe to say that no one could have predicted the topics in this one. As always, let us know what you think. If you would like to subscribe to the Motor Sport podcasts then visit our
