These New England Patriots are swiftly becoming a reflection of their new head coach. Who knows when this team's ready to win, but all five signings the first 24 hours of NFL free agency should bring to life everything Mike Vrabel preaches to the team as a whole. On Substack Live, we continued the conversation with Andrew Callahan, Patriots beat reporter at The Boston Herald and host of the Pats Interference podcast. * Milton Williams broke the bank. What's his ceiling? * New England was spurned by Chris Godwin, and that's been a pattern at wide receiver. Without a doubt, this is the worst receiving corps in the NFL. There is one veteran available who makes sense.* And the most important person in the building is obviously Drake Maye. The Patriots would love it if receivers warm up to the idea playing with their young QB exactly as John Brown, Cole Beasley and Stefon Diggs flocked to Josh Allen in 2019 and 2020. How realistic is an Allen-like ascent in New England? This organization has a vibrant pulse which, I suppose, is all Vrabel can ask for right now.If you'd like to join future Substack Live events, download the app and flip notifications on. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.golongtd.comThe Detroit Lions lost far more than a football game to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Ford Field.Twenty-one players are now on injured reserve, and that number will likely grow to 22. It doesn't sound good for running back David Montgomery playing again this season. In a 48-42 loss, Montgomery (MCL), Carlton Davis (jaw) and Alim McNeill (knee) all went down. So… what now?The Lions found ways to keep winning when their best defensive player Aidan Hutchinson — a DPOY-level talent — was lost for the season. With three regular-season games left, they're grab-bagging like never before. McNeill (profiled here) and Montgomery (here) have been vital organs to Dan Campbell's team. In line for the No. 1 seed, these Lions are in danger of falling. Here on the Ty & Bob Pod, your NFC North-centric show each week, we examine everything in detail. Hall of Fame scribe Bob McGinn has been closely watching the film of all Lion replacement players all season long. He believes panic is warranted. Still, Campbell is already doing his best via an impassioned radio hit to rally his troops. Back to eating “molded bread,” these Lions face their greatest test yet in 2024. We've got a loaded episode for you. After plenty of Lions discussion/analysis, we transition into the Green Bay Packers thumping the Seattle Seahawks around the 53-minute mark. It was impressive. Jordan Love is playing mistake-free football, and his playmakers are stepping up. Defensively, the pass rush is coming alive.McGinn believes the Packers have the best shot at making the Super Bowl out of all three NFC North clubs, and explains why. You'll want to stick around for his weekly “McGinn Memory” segment. One decade later, we relive the most absurd football game of a generation: Green Bay's NFC Championship loss to the Seahawks. We all remember Brandon Bostick's flub — an unforgivable error to many teammates — but I pointed the finger at Mike McCarthy's passive approach then (and now) and McGinn puts that loss on the MVP Aaron Rodgers, whom he calls “the most overrated quarterback I've seen” on the pod. And of course, we recap the Minnesota Vikings' 30-12 thrashing the Bears. They've got an opening in the North and Brian Flores' defense has Caleb Williams coiling on the bench.Thank you for listening everyone.Go Long subscribers can access the FULL two hours of NFC North talk. Detroit Lions Post Game Show: Breaking Down Game 13 vs. Green Bay Packers The Detroit Lions took center stage for Thursday Night Football, hosting their divisional rival, the Green Bay Packers, in a highly anticipated NFC North clash. With playoff implications for both teams, this game was set to deliver high-stakes action. In our post-game show, we'll analyze the game's critical moments, dissect key match-ups, and take live calls from fans eager to share their reactions. Did the Lions' Defense Contain Jordan Love? One of the biggest questions heading into this game was how Detroit's defense would fare against a surging Jordan Love. The Packers' quarterback has been in excellent form, with Green Bay averaging over 30 points in recent weeks. Did the Lions' defensive line, led by Za'Darius Smith and Alim McNeill, find ways to pressure Love, or did Green Bay's top-rated pass protection keep him upright? Detroit's secondary, missing key players like Carlton Davis, faced the challenge of limiting Love's deep shots and minimizing the impact of Packers' wide receiver Christian Watson. Listener calls will likely highlight Aaron Glenn's defensive strategy and whether the Lions forced turnovers, a crucial factor against a Packers team that thrives on protecting the football. Could Detroit Dominate in the Red Zone? The Lions have excelled in the red zone this season, ranking among the NFL's most efficient teams. Did that success continue under the bright lights of Ford Field? On the flip side, the Packers entered this matchup as a much-improved red zone offense. Fans tuning into the post-game show may share their thoughts on whether Detroit's offense maintained its precision, turning trips inside the 20 into touchdowns. Was Jared Goff able to connect with key targets like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, or did the Packers' defense hold its ground? Join the Conversation As always, our post-game show invites fans to call in and share their takes on the game's turning points. Did the Lions' relentless rushing attack with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs control the pace of the game? Did Detroit's defense rattle Love enough to disrupt Green Bay's offense? Whether it's celebrating another step in the Lions' march toward NFC supremacy or dissecting lessons learned, this episode promises to be a must-listen for Lions Nation. That's why we built a podcast around the division this 2024 season.Six weeks in, there's no debate. Minnesota (5-0), Detroit (4-1), Green Bay (4-2) and Chicago (4-2) occupy the best division in football. So, let's dive in.A loaded episode for you this week with co-host Bob McGinn. The Lions went full Tony Soprano on the Dallas Cowboys, but it came at a steep cost. We begin the show with a ton of Aidan Hutchinson talk. How will Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell replace the sole source of their pass rush? McGinn offers a few realistic trade options. Expect Detroit to be aggressive. It's Super Bowl or Bust for this team. How did the Lions dismantle the Cowboys, 47-9? McGinn dissects the film as only he can. The offensive line left a trail of bodies in its wake. Carlton Davis is starting to prove why he's a perfect fit in Campbell's defense, too… cleat to the face ‘n all. At the 48-minute mark, we shift to the Packers' blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals.More specifically, wide receiver Romeo Doubs. We got to know the wide receiver with a two-part feature:There's a lot to unpack. Is Doubs pissed? Where do the two sides go from here? Here's thinking the two parties are best together. Doubs is exactly what the Packers need on offense. McGinn uncovers a lot on film, too. Rookies Edgerrin Cooper and Evan Williams are heating up in a big way. Zach Tom's been excellent. Jaire Alexander is forever a topic of conversation. As for the Chicago Bears? Caleb Williams is getting better every single week. Across the pond, the No. 1 overall pick torched Jacksonville for four touchdown passes. We both like what OC Shane Waldron's dialing up on offense. Bears talk starts at the 1:20 mark. This week's “McGinn Memory” is a classic, too. Bob brings us back to his quarterback days in the U.P., when a future NFL pro lined up on the other side of the ball. The NFC North promises to be one of the best divisions in football. It's loaded with intrigue. Bob McGinn, enshrined in Canton for his distinguished career covering the NFL since 1979, remains extremely plugged into the league and has plenty of analysis to share. He's still studying the tape unlike anyone in the business. Thus, the “Ty & Bob Pod” continues for another season right here at Go Long. I'm thrilled to welcome back my former Milwaukee Journal Sentinel colleague. Our focus stays on the North, but we'll also examine big-picture topics across the entire NFL. Episode 1 of the 2024 season is accessible to everyone. Audio is above and video is below.Starting next week, the show is again exclusive to paid subscribers. On this episode, McGinn begins with a full breakdown of the Green Bay Packers' Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Position-by-position, he examines what went right and what went wrong. He also explains why he believes the Green Bay Packers can win the Super Bowl and what Jordan Love trait stands out to him most. Around the 50-minute mark, we dive into those Super Bowl-contending Detroit Lions and how this team is a complete reflection of their head coach, Dan Campbell. Once again — in Detroit's overtime win over L.A. — everyone saw precisely what makes the core of these Lions different. They fight, yes. But they're also smart. At the 1-hour, 27-minute mark, McGinn dissects the Chicago Bears' bizarre opening win over Tennessee. Sam Darnold looked damn good in his Vikings debut, too. The guys (@GamblingPodcast) continue their 2024 NFL Team Preview series with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We take a look at the 2024Tampa Bay Buccaneers win total, futures, and player props to find their favorite 2024 Tampa Bay Buccaneers bets. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers found their man at quarterback in Baker Mayfield. The 29-year-old quarterback signed a three-year $100 million dollar deal that includes $30 million guaranteed in year one. Then they brought back the perennial 1,000-yard receiver Mike Evans. Evans got a two-year $52 million dollar deal, he's already got 10 consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and he'd like to make it 12.Chris Godwin also returns to the team and they brought in rookie third-round pick Jalen McMillian out of the University of Washington to learn behind two great receivers. Ryan Jensen left a big void at the center position when he retired after the 2023 season, a void that was filled in the first round of the draft with Guard/Center Graham Barton from Duke University. The Buccaneers didn't lose a lot of players to free agency but the ones they did lose will definitely leave a mark. Shaq Barrett and Devin White leave a huge void in the middle of the defense. Luckily for the Buccaneers Lavonte David put off retirement for at least another season, he'll be a good player for rookie second-round pick Chris Braswell, the linebacker from the University of Alabama to learn under. The Buccaneers secondary needed a boost after losing Carlton Davis and starting an undrafted free agent in Christian Izien last year. The signing of Tavierre Thomas and the drafting of third-round pick Tykee Smith the the University of Georgia Bulldogs should help out that defensive backfield.Podcast Timecodes0:00 Intro5:50 2023 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Recap17:30 Offseason Roster Moves27:30 Doug Stanhope Calls Into the Show 30:40 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2024 Odds33:35 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Schedule Breakdown45:57 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Best Bets JOIN the SGPN community #DegensOnlyExclusive Merch, Contests and Bonus Episodes ONLY on Patreon - https://sg.pn/patreonDiscuss with fellow degens on Discord - https://sg.pn/discordDownload The Free SGPN App - https://sgpn.appCheck out the Sports Gambling Podcast on YouTube - https://sg.pn/YouTubeCheck out our website - http://sportsgamblingpodcast.comSUPPORT us by supporting our partnersUnderdog Fantasy code SGPN - Up to $250 in BONUS CASH - https://play.underdogfantasy.com/p-sgpnCirca Sports - 16 MILLION in guaranteed prizes w/ Circa Survivor & Circa Millions - https://www.circasports.com/circa-sports-millionFootball Contest Proxy - Use promo code SGP to save $50 at - http://proxy.footballcontest.comRithmm - Player Props and Picks - Free 7 day trial! http://sportsgamblingpodcast.com/rithmmGametime code SGPN - Download the Gametime app, create an account, and use code SGPN for $20 off your first purchase - https://gametime.co/OddsJam - 7-day free trial and 35% off your first month subscription promo code SGPN - https://fas.st/t/yaJkJgH132 NFL Team Previews - https://www.sportsgamblingpodcast.com/2024-nfl-team-previews/ ADVERTISE with SGPNInterested in advertising?
