While the sport supplement market might be thriving, the use of supplements can destroy an athlete’s career. Supplement manufacturers often use omissions or alternative names to lure buyers in and create the illusion of a clean substance. When in fact many contain substances that are prohibited in sport. A recent research collaboration between Sport Integrity Australia and Human and Supplement Testing Australia (HASTA) found that of 200 supplement products tested, 35 per cent contained one or more WADA Prohibited Substances. In addition to this, 57 per cent of the products that tested positive did not list the prohibited ingredients on their packaging or website. In this episode our host Tim Gavel speaks to a panel of guests about the research results, risks around use of supplements and how this can lead to unintentional doping. Farace and Tim are back as the A-Team for Episode 120 of *Unsportsmanlike Conduct*, holding it down while Anthony is off nursing Dolphins draft trauma and Dave is... well, Dave.NBA Playoffs:The conference finals are set, and it's a mix of the unexpected and the "how did we get here?" The Knicks and Pacers are battling it out in the East, with Game 1 tipping off tonight at Madison Square Garden. Farace is already planning the parade route, while Tim is still recovering from the Celtics' collapse. In the West, the Thunder took Game 1 against the Timberwolves, thanks to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's MVP-level performance. Anthony Edwards is trying to channel his inner Jordan, but so far, it's looking more like Space Jam 2.NHL Playoffs:The Panthers dominated Game 1 against the Hurricanes, winning 5-2 and continuing their quest for a third straight Stanley Cup Final appearance. Sergei Bobrovsky stood tall in net, and the Cats are looking fierce.Out West, the Stars and Oilers are set to face off in a rematch of last year's conference finals. Connor McDavid is still searching for that elusive Cup, while Dallas is hoping to play spoiler once again.NFL News:The NFL owners' meetings brought some rule changes and non-changes. The "tush push" remains legal, much to the chagrin of defenses everywhere. Onside kicks have been tweaked to increase recovery chances, and the proposal to reseed playoff teams based on record was tabled, meaning division winners still get home games, even if they're 8-9.Also, NFL players are now eligible to compete in flag football at the 2028 Olympics. Expect to see Tyreek Hill outrunning accountants and gym teachers in Los Angeles.WNBA Drama:The Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese rivalry has spilled into the pros, with a recent game between the Fever and Sky turning heated. Clark committed a flagrant foul on Reese, leading to technicals and a social media firestorm. Dave Portnoy suggested Clark start her own league, while Reese responded with a now-deleted TikTok. The WNBA is investigating alleged racist comments directed at Reese during the game, and both players have called for respect and unity.---Join Farace and Tim as they break down all the playoff action, NFL rule changes, and WNBA drama. It's Episode 120 of *Unsportsmanlike Conduct*—where the takes are hot, and the hosts are hotter.
Mike Schopp and The Bulldog talk about the NFL changing the onside kick rule again and question if onside kicks become more common
Pat and Aaron take a look at what is being discussed for rule changes at this week's NFL Owner's meetings. Onside kicks, playoff reseeding and tush push, what should be fixed?
In this episode, Peter Von Panda breaks down the current state of onside kicks in the NFL and presents a revolutionary theory to improve their success rate. With onside kicks traditionally failing at rates as low as 5%, Peter introduces a strategy that focuses on high kicks with significant hang time, turning every onside attempt into a 50/50 ball. Join us as Peter challenges the conventional wisdom and offers a fresh approach that could change the way teams approach onside kicks forever. For the Glory KC is back with the 121st episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City had another poor week with two more games played and two more losses. Sheena and I try to work through if the team is truly bad or if it's a combination of a lot of other factors. Sporting KC did play four games in 11 days, and two of the games were against Inter Miami who are loaded with stars. The team also just signed three of its more critical offseason additions in Dejan Joveljic, Manu Garcia and Shapi Suleymanov. Their chemistry will take time. The good news with 32 games to go there is very little congestion the rest of the way for Sporting KC. That excuse will mostly vanish and SKC just to start talking steps in the right direction. We worked our way through the bad and the good from both games, with a greater focus on the 2-1 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes. The discussion really started around the lack of rotation, despite the short rest between the 3-1 loss to Inter Miami and the SJ game. The tired legs really seemed to be a problem, despite being up a man for over 40 minutes. The CONCACAF Champions Cup game with Miami didn't get much time this episode since no one really expected KC to advance when the game was announced. That said, we had to talk about the defensive blunders that ended the first half. There was plenty of other SKC news this week too. William Agada was rumored to be part of a trade with Real Salt Lake. Benny Feilhaber popped up in a UMKC/SKC II game as a guest player and gave us a hint about his future. Andreu Fontas retired officially. Sebastian Cruz found a new home. SKC executed a minor trade, and some other roster news came out.Sheena and I also watched the Sporting KC/St. Louis City episode of Onside, the new Apple TV+ show. It's good, we definitely recommend it.Finally, the KC Current had a slightly louder week with the release of the Teal Town secondary kit. They also made a minor trade, played a couple preseason games and made some news with the USWNT.In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including: SKC II updates Jaylin Lindsay finds a new home Seattle Sounders running a "first match on us" free game promo The ref who took Messi's jersey got suspendedHere is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times): SKC lose their home opener to San Jose - 6:01 SKC bounced from CCC by Miami - 46:24 RSL called about William Agada - 53:24 SKC Round-up, Including a Benny Feilhaber update - 58:37 KC Current news - 1:13:11 Digital Crawl - 1:17:57Upcoming Games Sporting KC @ D.C. Welcome to The Replayables, where The I-5 Corridor's Traffic Report hosts Tyson Alger and Justin Myers revisit one classic game in Oregon history every month.Well friends, we sure hope you didn't leave this one early. Yes, Oklahoma was up 10 points with four minutes to go. Yes, the Sooners had the ball, in the red zone, with quite possibly the best run-out-the-clock running back in college football history — Adrian Peterson — in the backfield. And yes, the No. 18 Oregon Ducks looked tired, beaten down and all but cooked in a matchup against a No. 15 Oklahoma team that would only lose one more game the rest of the regular season. And while the Ducks managed to force the Sooners to kick a field goal to go up 13 with 3:16 to play, that was just a consolation prize. Right? Right????Wrong. In this episode of The Replayables, Tyson and Justin do a deep dive on what might be the wildest three minutes of football in Oregon history. Then, we bring on Jason Kersey, formerly of The Oklahoman and The Athletic, to break down just how much this one stung for the fans from Norman. Thanks for listening, everyone. The hosts also highlight weak earnings from consumer-facing companies like Starbucks and McDonalds as signs of a struggling consumer.2. China's Slumping Housing MarketLuke shares an anecdote about his friend struggling to sell an inherited house in China, even after lowering the price. They expect the AI hype cycle in the stock market to continue.4. Controversial New NFL Rule ChangesThe hosts discuss the NFL's unpopular new rule changes, especially around the onside kick. They speculate the changes are designed to reduce randomness and improve predictability for Vegas oddsmakers. The rule changes are expected to generate confusion and debate among fans.5. Early 2024 Presidential Election OddsWith the 2024 election still in the distant future, the hosts dive into early betting odds showing Kamala Harris as the favorite to win the popular vote.
