Unfortunate news came out of Sweden, as it's being reported that the Swedish Hockey Federation was unable to secure insurance for Elias Pettersson to be able to play for his native country at the World Hockey Championship in Finland and Latvia next month. JPat and Wadden discuss what that means for Pettersson, while also unpacking the NHL's announcement of the teams that will play in the Global Series next year in Stockholm, which surprisingly does not include the Canucks. They also got over former Canucks defenceman Christian Ehrhoff returning to play pro hockey in the second division in the DEL in Germany. Ehrhoff, 41, hasn't played pro since the 2017-18 season.  This week marks the fourth anniversary of the passing of Vancouver sports media legend Jason Botchford. JPat reflects on his time spent travelling North America covering the Canucks with Botch. The show wraps with a recap of last nights action in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The General Manager of the World Series winning, Atlanta Braves, Alex Anthopoulos joined Matt and Blake. Started off by chatting about why making the rounds in Canadian Media was so important, including this very show. Talked about how he is feeling after contracting Covid 19. Everything is going well, he can take part in the parade tomorrow. Then it's right back to work the following Monday. Says his wife was more crushed than he was missing the party after winning the Championship. The parade is what he has always sold his kids on. The bottom line is he just wanted to win. Says there is always next time. Talked about the feeling of winning. Everything coming through that touches him. Talked about the difference between this outpouring of support and that of leaving TO. Says he never got to enjoy his time working there because he was always working. Talked about experiencing the final out at home with his kids. Wanted to see them watch everyone they know on TV. Thinks tomorrow will be when they see the festivities tomorrow. Once they see that they will understand the impact of sport and the community rallying and coming together. Talked about the future of this team. Would love to think they could do this every year but knows how difficult it is.  Legendary Canucks Writer and Hockey Hall of Fame Member, Tony Gallagher joined us today, in studio. Started off talking about the face-off woes on the PP for the Canucks. Talked about the EP40 struggles. Talked about life in retirement. Talked about the festivities surrounding the induction into the hall. Talked about his relationships with some of the guys who are going in with him. Talked about his relationship with Jason Botchford. Talked about how disappointing he is that not much is written about Canucks management.  Talked about Gillis and if would want to take on the top job at the PA.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The week begins with a bang, as it’s a game day for the Vancouver Canucks on the road in the nations capital for game three of four versus the Senators. The Welcome Matt questions the Canucks handling of the salary cap, after it was revealed last week that Olli Juolevi wasn’t in the lineup because of lack of cap space. Former Province sports editor Jonathan McDonald joins the show next and goes down memory lane of the Canucks 2011 run to the Stanley Cup final, revealing a story about a late night call from Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini the night after the Canucks lost game 6 of the first round in Chicago. Jonathan also reminisced about Jason Botchford’s life as a groundbreaking sports journalist during his time on the sports beat in Vancouver. Our Monday NHL insider John Shannon follows and the former executive producer of Hockey Night in Canada feels that the Canucks and Flames will go down to the wire to determine the final playoff spot in the North Division. John also said that he’s heard that a contract extension offer has been made by the Canucks to head coach Travis Green. The Price is Right wonders what the NHL on TNT would look like, and whether the league can assemble a panel that could be as entertaining as the NBA on TNT panel. Jeff Paterson joins for his daily hit and breaks down how the runway for the Calgary Flames is beginning to get shorter as they try to chase down the Montreal Canadiens for the final playoff spot in the North. The show concludes with an electric version of Memo To and a spicy recap of all the Errors and Omissions. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week isn't about Trust the Process, this week it's all about our good friend Jason Botchford. There was a tribute show held at the Commodore recently, hosted by Jason Brough and Mike Halford in which a night was spent talking hockey, talking Botch, listening to music, and telling some jokes. The kind of night Botch would have loved. And since not everyone could make the show, and since people kept asking if there was a way to listen to it, everyone who was involved with putting the show on were gracious enough to allow us to upload the audio. This way everyone could spend a night listening about Botch, and have their own tribute night in the comfort of their homes, or the gym, or wherever they wanted to spend a couple hours thinking about our man Botch. With the shadow of Tyler Myers contract looming over the city of Vancouver, what better time than now to listen to stories about Botch and think "Man, what would Botch be saying right now about this potential contract." So without further ado, let's tip our hats to our fallen friend Jason Botchford, and remember all the good times he gave us. We miss you Botch, now and forever. With the shadow of Tyler Myers contract looming over the city of Vancouver, what better time than now to listen to stories about Botch and think "Man, what would Botch be saying right now about this potential contract." The 2019 NHL Draft in Vancouver has come and gone, the Canucks drafted out of Russia and a trade with Tampa Bay rocked the fanbase. But it's a potential free agent signing that has the Vancouver fans very concerned. Geeta, P Mac and Ryan gather this week out on the palatial estate's balcony which has become a second last podcast of the season tradition for Pucks On Net. They break down the Canucks' draft weekend. From drafting Vasili Podkolzin 10th overall, to trading a first round pick and a third round pick to Tampa for JT Miller, it was an eventful few days.  They look at Jim Benning re-signing Alex Edler to a neat and tidy two year deal as well as look back at Elias Pettersson winning the Calder Trophy and his very heartfelt acceptance speech, letting the entire hockey world know what an impact Jason Botchford had on him and the city. They also share their concerns regarding signing Tyler Myers to a long term, big money deal and what this could mean for the Canucks in the next several years. They touch on Mitch Marner's RFA drama in Toronto, the chances of him being offersheet'd and discuss how Kyle Dubas has handled these tough contract situations so far during his time as GM. Could this all be a clever ploy to reunite Marner with his "dad", Patrick Marleau in Carolina? Finally, they discuss Corey Perry being bought out by the Anaheim Ducks. P Mac's time covering the draft and answer some great listener questions. Support the show on Patreon! Pledge a coupla bucks (or $5) and get instant access to all our bonus content.
