The Canucks faced off against the worst team in the league, the SJ Sharks tonight, and lost. Vancouver pushed hard at the end, but it was too little, too late. JT Miller had points on all of the Canucks goals, Hronek with a goal and an assist, Petey managed a point and Captain Quinn tied the all time point streak record for Canucks defensemen set waaaaaaaay back.... last week, by Hronek. The Edmonton Oilers lost again last night making their record now 2-8-1 after eleven games. Edmonton had a promising start putting 19 shots on Thatcher Demko, who was between the pipes for the Vancouver Canucks. Mattias Ekholm was able to beat him with his first goal of the season. However, that was the only bright spot for the Oilers last night. Shortly after, the team collapsed allowing two goals in just under two minutes after two mistakes. The rest of the night tilted in the Canucks favour from there as the Oilers fell 6-2. The Oilers showed some flair in the third period with Zach Hyman getting into a fight with JT Miller; along with Connor McDavid getting involved in scrums. Jay Woodcroft even saw the gate early after being ejected for making comments to the officials. Last night certainly felt like rock bottom for this team. On today's show, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break down where this team is at right now and what changes need to be made. Tyler was also at the game last night so he will give us the perspective of what it was like from inside the building. What would you do the change the Oilers fortunes? Is it time to make a trade? does Jeff Jackson need to drop the hammer and relieve Ken Holland or Jay Woodcroft of his duties? Should they consider calling up one of the two goaltenders in Bakersfield? Leave your thoughts in the Finning/CAT live YouTube chat throughout the show. Hosted on Acast. Matt and Blake digest a resounding 8-1 victory for the Canucks in their season opener against Edmonton. Brock Boeser's four-goal night, four-point games for Elias Pettersson and JT Miller, Thatcher Demko's performance and puking in his mask, new captain Quinn Hughes and his three-point night, Sam Lafferty's debut, Conor Garland's goal...the list of highlights goes on and on from a memorable night at Rogers Arena. Other topics include a concerning dynamic on the Pettersson contract front, changes for Saturday's rematch in Edmonton, new bells and whistles at Rogers Arena, and a new slogan. Rob Williams stops by to take a bow over his preseason Boeser prediction, and explain why No.6 has the whole market behind him. He takes us through the renovations at Rogers Arena, comments on the new slogan, and the captain ceremony. Patrick Johnston on why the Canucks won't play a skater short Saturday, on the Boeser-Miller-Di Giuseppe being a shutdown line, on the contributions of new guy Lafferty. The Canucks dominated the visiting Edmonton Oilers in the season-opener for both teams. Brock Boeser led the way with 4 goals, while both Elias Pettersson and JT Miller chipped in with 4 points apiece. My son Sean (who was at the gamey) joined me to give his thoughts on the game and he answerer a bunch of viewer questions. And we ended up giving away a pair of tickets to a future Canucks game.
The Edmonton Oilers laid an egg last night, falling 8-1 to the Vancouver Canucks in their season opener. Leon Draisaitl scored the Oilers lone goal of the game; however, the game was already gone at that point. The Canucks had already scored four goals before the Oilers found the net. Brock Boeser had himself a night for the Canucks, scoring four goals. Conor Garland, Elias Peterson, JT Miller and Dakota Joshua got in on the action, too, with their first goals of the season.Additionally, after a great pre-season, Jack Campbell was pulled. The decision came after Campbell allowed four goals on 16 shots, but was it really his fault? Stuart Skinner did not come in and shut the door either, allowing four goals, too. So what happened? There are plenty of questions to be asked about what happened last night, including should the absences of Mattias Ekholm be this noticeable. Is the goaltending good enough? Where was the work ethic from everyone? Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin will break it all done on Oilersnation Everyday live at noon. If you want to participate in the conversation, head over to the Oilersnation YouTube channel, hit subscribe, and then drop your message in the Century Mile Racetrack and Casino live chat. On top of that, Tyler and Liam will take a look around the NHL from last night. Connor Bedard scored the first goal of his career, the Toronto Maple Leafs came from behind to beat the Montreal Canadiens off the back of an Auston Matthews hat trick, and the Calgary Flames paid tribute to Chris Snow.Shoutout to the episode's sponsors: Betway: https://betway.com/en/sports Oodle Noodle: https://www.oodlenoodle.ca/ Cornerstone Insurance: https://www.cornerstoneins.ca/ Sherwood Ford: https://www.sherwoodford.ca/ Sports Closet: https://sportscloset.ca/ Greta Bar Edmonton: https://www.gretabar.com/locations/edmontonCentury Mile Racetrack & Casino: https://www.cnty.com/centurymileAlberta Blue Cross: https://www.ab.bluecross.ca/index.php Star Mechanical: https://starmechanical.ca/Visit www.nationgear.ca for merch and more.Follow us on Instagram @oilersnationdotcomFollow us on Twitter/Facebook/TikTok @OilersNationReach out to sales@thenationnetwork.com to connect with our Sales Team and discuss opportunities to partner with us! It's been a few weeks since you last heard from Anna & Chris, and the Canucks decided to use that break as an opportunity to facilitate a rare August player signing. The pair react to the aquisition of Pius Suter and discuss where he might find himself in the lineup, what it means to a few other role players, and how the Canucks can fit him into an already tight salary cap picture. They also discuss what JT Miller said on the Cam & Strick podcast and why hockey players having personality is a good thing... within reason. So why does Pius Suter get to have all the fun? On today's short episode of Locked On Canucks...we talk about JT Miller's future wingers on the Second line. Should he actually be the one playing with Conor Garland? And if not...can he really carry a line that has one of Podkolzin or Hoglander on it? Have those trade rumours and contract squabbles made Vancouver Canucks fans underappreciate JT Miller? Beggsy and Bhawan give their take on the Miller saga, his impact, and whether he'll be a Canuck for life. They also look at Tanner Pearson's situation and debate whether there's any chance (or even any benefit) to the Canucks getting out of their LTIR hole.
