It really is “the most wonderful time of the year.” Everything, since the beginning of time, has pointed to the birth of Jesus. And since the birth of Jesus, everything has counted its time and place in history from His miraculous birth. At Rolling Hills, we love celebrating the birth of Jesus. We also love celebrating the rebirth of a believer who discovers Jesus, or a person who dedicates their life to pursuing Him. Christmas will soon be over. The decorations will return to the attics, and the kids will return to school. We will welcome a New Year, and it's one that I know can truly be wonderful when Christ is at the center. Have you placed your faith in Christ? If not, experience the true joy and wonder of Christmas, and every day by asking for His forgiveness for your sin and for His presence in your life. The shepherds were invited by God to see His Son, Jesus, that very first Christmas, and their stories were forever changed. God invited them, and God invites each of us. Sometimes, we disqualify ourselves from hearing from God and serving Him, and sometimes we make excuses. This Christmas, will you experience God's love and see Him change your story? Will you come and adore Jesus and then live a life of worship? Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you (Luke 2:11). The shepherds got it; will you? The shepherds worshiped and ministered to others; will you? Jesus has come - to you. Merry CHRISTmas!

God chose Joseph to be the earthly father to His Son. How amazing! Joseph's entire life changed that first Christmas. He went from living for himself to living out God's plan for his life. Trusting God is not always easy, but God's plans for us are always better than our own. God allowed Joseph to be a part of His story, and God is inviting you as well. Each of us has a story. Will you trust God with your life and be obedient to God when He speaks to you? 

We all have so much for which to be thankful. Just think about it. Seriously! In the midst of all the family, food, and football, take some time this week to truly be thankful. Regardless of your circumstances, gratitude is a matter of the heart. We can all be thankful for salvation we have in Christ. We are loved – you are loved. Thank God for His Gift of Grace in His Son, Jesus, and the blessings He lavishes on us with family, church, friends, and so much more. May we always be a “Thanksgiving” people because of Jesus!

Today is our Commitment Sunday! Today is exactly 52 days since we started our NEXT Campaign as a church. Nehemiah and the people rebuilt the wall around Jerusalem in 52 days, and just imagine what God will do through us as we have prayed, sacrificed, and now give together. The people back then set the stage for Jesus' first coming, and we are building His church and setting the stage for our Savior's second coming. Today is a special day! May our God find us faithful as we invest in The NEXT 20 Years, The NEXT Generation, The NEXT Ministry, The NEXT Mission, and The NEXT One. Come, Lord Jesus, and find us faithful!

Just like Nehemiah, God has given each of us a work to do. First, it is coming to know Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, receiving God's grace, and then growing more like Him every day. Also, it includes the work of developing our God-given gifts, growing a Ggodly family, building a great church for His glory, and more. It is so easy to be distracted, but when we stay focused and faithfulfaithflul to God's call, then this is where we see God do miracles. Join in what God is calling us to do individually, and as His Church, NEXT, and let's see God do what only He can do. Let's join together and watch what God will do NEXT.

We see the impact of leadership every day in our world. We see good leaders, and we see terrible leaders. Good leaders put others before themselves, while bad leaders put themselves before others. Good leaders give and sacrifice to help and make a difference. Generosity is a big part of good leadership. God teaches His people to be generous, but we live in a world of greed. Will we become godly leaders? Trust God and invest in helping others. As Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

Throughout history, God has used men and women to accomplish His work. God doesn't need any of us. He is sovereign over the entire world. Yet, in His sovereignty and grace, He allows us to be involved in what He is doing in the world. As we join Him and become involved in His work, our lives are changed. We become more like Jesus. Christ-followers who have gone before us have left a legacy that has impacted our lives today – and, now, this is our turn. This is our time. May God find us zealous and faithful in what He has called us to… NEXT.

Just like God called Nehemiah, so God's call comes to each of us. God's call always takes boldness. When God gives a vision, we must pray and plan. We pray for God to go before us and prepare the way, and then we take the time to plan as we join God in accomplishing His will. Nehemiah shows us the importance of both praying and planning. So, what's your plan? What's your plan to grow spiritually, to disciple your family, and to make a difference in the world for the glory of God? God has given us, at Rolling Hills, a vision and a plan, so let's build together a godly life and a great church for the glory of our gracious God!

God is always working! God is always doing a new thing! Do you take the time to see it and position yourself in a place to be used by Him? So many stories in the Bible, including the book of Ezra, don't end tied up in a nice, neat package. Rather, these God-ordained moments and snapshots show us the need to continue placing our hope in Him, and they renew our passion to expect and anticipate more and more what He is doing. These stories also make us look forward with great joy to the day when He will call us all home to be with Him! Thank you, God, for the incredible stories you are writing! We can't wait to see what you have in store for us next! 

In an ever-changing world, there is only One constant – Jesus. As God's people today, we are to live in the confidence that He is forever and ever. Therefore, we live by faith and not fear. Out of our confidence in Christ, we are called to invest faith in Jesus to the next generation. We are called to pass on what has been entrusted to us. As parents, grandparents, and God's Church today, we must leave a legacy of faith and invest in what matters. What legacy are you leaving? 

Scripture counsels us to have the glory of God at the center of our lives. That means we are to live for His renown, and this should be evident in our lives. In fact, when we live for His glory over our own, it is always for our good. Paul says, “To Him be glory in the church.” The church (this is us) should be the most beautiful manifestation of His glory in the world. The picture of this in the early church shows a group of people focused on God, and the result is their good and God's glory. This should be true of us and the church today.

Our God is able to do miracles. God works through the power of His Holy Spirit to transform lives for His glory. The Holy Spirit indwells every Christ-follower. God is constantly working in us and through us. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we are conformed to the image of Jesus, and we are used to impact others. As Christians, we must learn to live by the Spirit. God is always speaking and working – the question is: are we listening and obeying? God is able.

Our God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Yet, so often, we settle for so little. We think only about what this world can offer, and we forget about the power, grace, and love of our great God. Jesus still does miracles today. As we stay faithful to Him, we are able to see and experience the beauty and power of God. Invite Jesus into your heart and daily life, and watch Him transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.

We all face challenges in life. Everyone is fighting a battle. When challenges come, we can choose to fight on our own, or we can pray and invite God into the battle. There is power in prayer. God answers every prayer we pray. Many times we are scared to pray because we don't know how God will answer. But, as we grow in our relationships with God, we learn to love Him enough to trust Him with the answer. Will you put your trust in God today? Pray bold prayers and then watch God do what only He can do. Our God is able.

We have arrived at the conclusion of our Masterclass series on the book of Romans. What an incredible series it has been, as we have been diving deep into this powerful book of the Bible and seeing God's righteousness and reconciliation for us today. Our God is a God of love, and His redemption extends to each of us through the gift of His Son, Jesus. Through Jesus, God draws us to Himself and reveals how we, as Christ-followers, should live. Romans establishes us in sound doctrine and in the amazing goodness of our great God. I pray Romans will bring revival in our hearts, our families, and our world today.

Our submission to God is evident in our capacity to love others and pursue holiness. By reflecting God's love and character, we bridge the gap between ourselves and the world, demonstrating God's true nature and revealing His love, grace, and authority to those around us.

God sent His Son, Jesus, to bring salvation to the world. In the Old Testament, God called out a people for Himself through which He would reveal His character and ultimately send His Son, the Messiah. Salvation is not based on what we do or where we are born. Salvation is found in Jesus alone. Paul always had a heart to share Jesus with others – first for his own people, the Jews, and then for all others, the Gentiles. The call comes to each of us today to accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior and then to share Him with others. May God find us faithful in sharing His heart of salvation with others today.

A gospel foundation in the next generation happens when the adults in their life are intentional about living out the gospel. We pray that the next generation can observe God's Good News within us and that we can articulate God's great love toward us. His great love not only drives us toward repentance, but it also changes how we live and interact with the world around us. 

God calls us to live by faith. In Romans 4, Paul uses Abraham as an example of faith. Paul shows how Abraham believed God, and it was credited to Him as righteousness – and this was even before the Law. The Law doesn't save us – faith in Jesus saves us. The Law shows us where we fall short and how we need a Savior. It's not about religious practices like circumcision, but about a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and the outward expression becomes baptism. Like Abraham, our faith and obedience to God impacts ourselves, our family, and generations.

We can't confuse what's always been viewed as Paul's most theological work and most detailed gospel outline only as facts believers must know and ground on which we must agree. All theology must be lived theology and his letter to Rome isn't any different. That means it's a book full of opportunities for richer 1st century understanding and deeper modern day application. The goal is that we would know about Jesus and become like him. In John's gospel, we're reminded that God didn't send Jesus to condemn the world but to save it. Romans 2 reminds us that the world doesn't need our condemnation either [not that we have any right to offer it] but only our diligence in pointing them to the One who saves. Are you spending more time evaluating or encouraging? Are you more focused on passing judgment or passing faith?

Easter changes everything. Death, the one thing that everyone in history has always feared, is now defeated! Jesus conquered death and made a way for everyone who follows Him to have eternal life. Easter means Jesus is alive, and we can come alive as well. Will you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior today? And, if you are a Christian, then will you commit to live your life fully for Him? Your best days are still ahead. Come to Jesus and experience the joy, peace, and hope that only He can give. Jesus is alive! We serve a Risen Savior. Happy Easter!

Jesus' sacrifice on the cross means our sins can be forgiven. However, each one of us must make a decision about what we believe about Jesus. Is Jesus truly the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Lord of my life? Being a Christ-follower doesn't mean that everything will be easy in life. Jesus endured suffering, and so will we. We live in a broken and fallen world. But, the cross shows us that Jesus is atoning for the sins of the world, and Easter will show us that He has the power to make all things new again. Hold tight to Jesus! He triumphs in the end.

Jesus lived His life on mission. Jesus did the will of the Father and brought redemption to all of us. What is the mission of your life? We must choose between the world's way or the Jesus Way. The world's way is living for ourselves – our own dreams, money, success, and power. But, the Jesus Way is to live our lives for God and His will. The world and its desires pass away, but the one who follows the Jesus Way lives forever. Trust Jesus and follow Him today.

Our world is filled with problems. From economic concerns to family drama, relational tensions, to health issues. Problems are everywhere; stressors are everywhere! You may think life would be easier if there were no issues and if you could protect yourself from every pitfall. However, it will never happen. Hopefully, it comes as no shock that a yearning for a life free of all stress and problems is elusive. Yet, Jesus promised you peace in the midst of it all because He conquered death, sin, and all the trappings of this world. What would it look like tomorrow to wake up and realize no matter what comes my way, I can have peace through Christ? The heart of Jesus is to never leave you alone and to give you life and hope in the midst of it all.

The fifth purpose of the church is ministry. Many times we think that ministry is reserved for those on a church staff –for the “professional” ministers. In reality, God calls all followers of Jesus to be ministers. Ministry is when we help and serve others in the name of Jesus. Every Christ-follower has spiritual gifts to use for God's glory. May we step out in faith and minister to those God has put around us, starting at home, then in His Church, then in our community, and, finally, to all we meet. When we become involved, this is where the Christian life becomes a great adventure!

Jesus didn't spend much time talking about what it means to have a “personal relationship with God,” although that language is certainly commonplace among Western Christians. He described the Kingdom of God, and it wasn't an empire like His original audience might have assumed but a community of faith that we understand to be the Church. A person cannot survive or thrive in isolation, and God's intent was never for you to do life on your own. Love, unity, and sacrifice are meant to characterize the fellowship within our community, and it extends so much further than we think. Jesus gives us so much when defining a neighbor and creating a family. Who is on your team, and how much stronger are you because you've got folks in your corner? Conversely, who has previously been on the other side of community for you, and what would it look like to sacrificially serve someone on the outside so they can see Jesus, too?

Avengers: Endgame is a movie based on the epic battle between good versus evil. In every story, there is a reflection of God's eternal story. We are in a spiritual battle. Many times it seems like evil is winning, but the good news is: our God is greater! As Christ-followers, we are called to engage in the battle. Sharing Jesus and loving and serving others makes an eternal impact. We must live every day and every moment for the glory of God and do “whatever it takes” to further God's Kingdom. At the end of all time, God wins! We are on the winning side, so let's engage today.

God's plan for your life is for you to grow in your relationship with Him. This happens as God draws you to Himself and invites you into a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. When you respond Yes! to Christ, your life, both today as well as your eternal destiny, is forever changed. But, salvation is the beginning of the journey. God wants you then to grow into the image of His Son. This is called sanctification, discipleship, and spiritual growth. As you grow spiritually, your relationship with God becomes deeper and richer. God loves you! Are you growing up in your relationship with God?

Jesus calls His people to reach out to others. For many this is a struggle, but there is incredible joy when we join God in what He is doing. As a Church, it is not just about us, but about each of us loving God and loving others. Our world desperately needs Jesus. Everyone needs the hope and help of Jesus. Someone was bold and kind enough to share Jesus with us. Now, it is our time to reach out to others with the love of Jesus. For 20 years, as a Church, we have been reaching out and we have seen God make an incredible difference. Let's be obedient to Jesus and reach out when He prompts our heart. Together, we can see God change the world!

Thank you so much for celebrating with us today. We pray that this Christmas is your best one yet, full of hope and joy and, more than anything else, redemption. We believe that the great God of this universe loves you deeply and dearly. We believe that once you discover His Son, Jesus, and the forgiveness only available through Him, you know what true love is. As you reflect on 2022, take time to celebrate the blessings and acknowledge the challenges. God can use both in your life to shape you in incredible ways. This Christmas, we want to grow in our love for God and for others. One way people give and receive love is through acts of service. Jesus taught His disciples to serve. Jesus, Himself, took on the very nature of a servant and came down to us. As His followers, we must learn to grow in our love by serving God and others. We serve God in His Church, in our home, in the community, and in the world. And, we love God by serving our spouse, kids, roommates, co-workers, orphans, and more. Let's grow our love by serving God and others this Christmas and every day of our life.

You can tell a lot about a person based on how they spend their money and how they spend their time. Based on your schedule, is it obvious who and what is important to you? Each of us gets the same twenty-four-hour period in a day, but we all have an unknown number of days to live. The goal of the Christ-follower is to make much of Jesus and to put others first. If someone took a deep dive into how you spend your time, especially at Christmas, would it be obvious to them that Christ is at the center of it all? Would it be obvious to them that the people in your life matter and that loving them well is at the core of who you are? Regardless of a person's love language, the time you spend with them matters. Whether it's keeping long-held traditions, cultivating new experiences, or just carving out time to support and encourage, we all need quality time to receive love. More than anything you do this year, know that the time you spend loving others and, most importantly, pointing them to Jesus, will not be wasted.

Your words carry weight. When you speak, do you build up others or tear others down. What we say and how we say it matters. This Christmas there will be many opportunities to speak love and life into those in your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers and more. Let's embrace this time of year and speak “good news that will cause great joy.” Let's bring Jesus into this world through our words of affirmation. We have been blessed, so now may we be a blessing!

Let's not skip over Thanksgiving on our way to Christmas. May we stop and remember all God has done for us this year. Let's truly be thankful. First and foremost, let's be thankful for Jesus and the grace and salvation we receive in Christ. Then, we can be thankful for so much more – family, friends, church, health, etc. What are you thankful for today? What is your story of Thanksgiving? Give the Lord the praise and thanks He deserves this Thanksgiving. Our God is so good to us. Thank You, Father!

Many of us have become very skilled at putting on a show. We know the right things to do and say in order to convince other people we have it all together. We try really hard to follow our own agenda, to never need any help, and to call the shots for our own life. The harsh reality, however, is that God never intended it to be this way. He wants us to come to Him because we find salvation in Him alone. His Kingdom is all about trusting God and serving others, as opposed to trusting myself and making sure all of my needs are met.
