When he was 7 years old, a friend's father was in the entertainment business. Hanging out at rehearsals and on the tour buses sold Matt on the idea of being a musician, or at the very least, a drummer. All this lead to spending his high school years at Fort Hayes vocational school for music and Capital University Conservatory of Music for college studying under drum instructor Bob Breithaupt. The musical diversity in Columbus gave Matt the chance to play with many great players and learning many different styles – from Big Band (Vaughn Weister's Famous Jazz Orchestra) and Brazilian to Afro-Cuban and Fusion. All the while, he was doing his share of gigs with original rock bands and top 40 bands. Matt moved to Nashville in the summer of 1999. Working as a freelance drummer based in Nashville has taken him to all 50 states in the U.S. and most of Canada, as well as overseas to Europe, Asia, The Middle East and The Caribbean. As well as the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Matt has performed in great local venues like the Ryman Auditorium, Mercy Lounge, 3rd and Lindsley, The 5 Spot, The Sutler, The Basement, The Wildhorse Saloon, and many clubs on lower Broadway. Matt has toured both regionally and nationally, with the Adam and Shannon Wright, Mark Selby, Eddy Raven, Billy Dean, Stephen Simmons, Three Lane, Whiskey Cash & Roses, Michelle Wright - (throughout Canada), Julie Roberts, and The Frontmen of Country which is Larry Stewart of Restless Heart, Richie McDonald of Lonestar, Tim Rushlow of Little Texas. From 2009 to 2017 Matt was the full time drummer for the band Savannah Jack. He played percussion on their first studio record in 2010 opposite Steve Ferrone on drums. For their second studio record in 2015, Matt was the drumset and percussion player in the studio. In the studio, Matt has had the pleasure of working with talented producers including Eric Fritsch, Teddy Morgan, Jim Reilley and Brent Maher. Artist he's recorded with in the studio have included Sheryl Crow, legendary songwriter Buzz Cason and actor Kevin Costner. In 2015, Matt started a podcast for drummers called "Working Drummer", an interview based podcast that maintains a focus on the drummer that makes a living at his or her craft. Along with the help of co-host Zack Albetta, the podcast has a growing audience throughout the world with more listeners every week. www.workingdrummer.net *******SUBSCRIBE/RATE/REVIEW!!! www.richredmond.com/listen The Rich Redmond Show is about all things music, motivation and success. “It was a dream come true,” says Lindsley Allen, dancer, dance educator and creative choreographer about her role in the now-iconic dance film Showgirls, starring Elizabeth Berkley. Originally, the movie was supposed to be the big dance movie of its generation—something of a “Basic Instinct” meets “Flashdance.” Though the initial reception was less than ideal, in the 30 years since its release, the film has become a cult classic, with fans memorizing every line, and its star—who so unfairly bore the brunt of the backlash—has gone on to receive long-overdue acclaim. Today, Lindsley discusses what it was like to work on such a major movie production, why it was initially misunderstood and now so beloved, and why dancers should always be consulted when making a film about dance. Just as “Showgirls” paved the way for later, more lauded films like Demi Moore's “Striptease,” dancers like Lindsley and host John Corella paved the way to improve the regulations, conditions and rights of dancers working on major film productions. Lindsley discusses what it was like to film the scenes in which the dancers performed topless, working with legendary choreographer Marguerite Derricks, and how her training program The Boom Effect is helping to prepare emerging dancers with bankable skills. Join today's episode of Dance Dad to hear Lindsley recall fondly what it was like to be part of what turned out to be a cult classic. Quotes “It was a huge call…to me it was, everyone was there that was of the A-list category. It was insane. It was a huge audition…and I wanted to get the job. It was big names, it was a big studio, it was a long job for dancers.” (9:47 | Lindsley Allen) “I really think they thought it was going to be…the serious musical drama. They didn't know it was going to be a cult classic. So, when it didn't do well that first weekend, it wasn't what they expected, I'll say it like that. It wasn't what they expected that weekend, and we kind of knew on the inside because some of us as dancers, some of those scenes, we were thinking, ‘Well, we wouldn't really say that, as dancers, we wouldn't really do that.'” (20:00 | Lindsley Allen) “It's because it's so over the top—the acting, the dancing—actually, the dancing might be the most grounded thing in it…you don't laugh at it, you're kind of laughing with it, with love…I think that makes perfect sense and I'm so glad that you said that. I think that is why it became a cult classic because people resonated with it, but just in a different way than what they originally expected.” (23:18 | John Corella and Lindsley Allen) “They really did build [Elizabeth] up so much that it was going to be huge and she ended up…I think for the business it's good for young dancers to know– and that's why I always teach–knowing the business and knowing the artistry and keeping them separate as much as you can, it's not easy but…Her agent dropped her, she was blamed for a lot of the movie's failure and that is just not fair.” (25:47 | Lindsley Allen) “A lot has changed. Dancers who are listening—Lindsley and I, we walked so you could run. There's so much that has changed as far as how long you can dance, the surfaces you can dance on, the types of shoes, with the union— that's why unions are important for dancing—and again, using your voice.” (43:47 | John Corella) Links Connect with Lindsley Allen: www.instagram.com/lindsleyallen 1nightonlyboomeffect.eventbrite.com Dance Dad with John Corella on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dancedadwithjohncorella/ John on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/john_corella/ Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

In May 1904, the residents of Yazoo City, Mississippi witnessed a devastating fire that destroyed half of their town. This fire was believed to be the result of a curse spoken by a woman known as the Witch of Yazoo, just before her death two decades earlier. Willie Morris, a writer and native of Mississippi, shared the legend in his book, "Good Old Boy." Following his passing in 1999, he was buried in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, 13 paces due south of the Witch of Yazoo's grave. Many mysteries surround this tale: Was the witch a historical figure, a character inspired by a resident, or a legend passed down through generations? Who rests beneath the marker commemorating one of the South's most famous witches? Want more Southern Mysteries? This episode Rick Hester, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and BehaviorWorks, discusses a free operant approach to behavior management. Rick starts with explaining the practical application of free operant behavior and, in order to get the full scope, also discusses discrete trial training and the relationship between the two. Breaking down some of the science, Rick educates about Lindsley's (1996) Four Free Operant Freedoms and the considerations for providing and maintaining a free operant environment (depletion, satiation, and dosage of resources). Rick finishes the episode with giving advice on how to start curating free operant environments by celebrating each approximation. Stay tuned in for a "dam" great "Training Tale" about creating a free operant environment for beavers using the sound of running water. Today, I have a special guest called Peggy joining me to share her story of overcoming the health challenges she faced with her horse Cami.Peggy lives in Alabama. She has two horses, one of which is a 36-year-old Arabian Quarter Horse cross. The other is Cami, a 13-year-old Oldenburg Quarter Horse mare. I began working with Peggy in 2021 when Cami had several challenging health conditions.Initial Contact and Reason for AppointmentAfter hearing me on a podcast, Peggy initially contacted me to help her 36-year-old horse, Sterling, who was struggling with FICO water syndrome. During our discussions, she realized that her other horse, Cami, who was dealing with chronic uveitis, could also benefit from my understanding. Background on CamiPeggy bought Cami in 2020 during the pandemic. She found her online and learned that Cami had only been away from her breeder for about eight months. Initially, she had a stress-free life on 40 acres with a herd, but her next home was stressful. She was kept in a stall 24/7 with little outdoor time and no herd contact, which was a drastic change for her.Initial Health ConcernsWhen Peggy brought Cami home, she knew she had eye issues, and the vet confirmed a minor irritation. Peggy initially managed it with medication, even considering the possibility of removing the eye if necessary. However, as Cami settled in, various other health issues emerged, including weight gain, crusty neck, and anxiety.Treatment and MedicationsPeggy tried multiple medications to manage Cami's eye issues, including oral anti-inflammatories and ointments. Taking her to an ophthalmologist was challenging due to her anxiety around trailering, so Peggy had to manage treatments at home with my help and with that of her vet. It required significant teamwork and research.Initial Attitude and GoalsPeggy was determined to save Cami's eye, feeling that surgery was not a viable option due to her reactive state and the stress it would cause her. She began using positive reinforcement and clicker training to help her administer the medication, which allowed us to manage the symptoms but not solve the underlying problem.Holistic Approach and RealizationsReducing stress and holistically addressing equine health is essential for managing chronic conditions like uveitis. Peggy explains that Cami's health conditions worsened in a less stressful environment as her body began to express the underlying imbalances.Health Deterioration and ProgressPeggy recalls how Cami developed a cataract and went blind in one eye after a severe reaction to annual vaccinations. That led to a visit from an ophthalmologist and required intense medication to save the eye. That period was the beginning of our understanding of how her hypersensitivity led to complex health issues.Managing Multiple Health IssuesCami's immune system was hypersensitive. She reacted to various triggers like vaccinations, ant bites- and even organic fly sprays. Although the increased sensitivity was a sign of her body healing, it also added a layer of complexity to her care.Initial Treatment StrategyMy first treatment program for Cami focused on improving her digestion, regulating her insulin and blood sugar, and reducing oxidative stress rather than directly addressing the eye issue. Peggy began to notice improvements in her overall health, including weight loss, a shinier coat, and healthier hooves.Importance of Detailed ObservationRegular photos helped Peggy monitor changes and effectiveness of treatments and helped her make informed decisions regarding Cami's care. Daily observation and documentation were also required to track her progress.Milestones...

Dart Lindsley is Strategic Advisor, People Experience at Google. He is also a writer, speaker, and host of the Work for Humans podcast – on a mission to humanize work. Dart share insights about his realization that businesses are multisided marketplaces where employees are (overlooked) customers of work and work is a product. To better design the work product, Dart recognizes teams' agency and ability to allocate their attention among themselves to complete tasks effectively. He discusses a flipped org chart with managers in supportive, rather than authoritative, roles. Dart advocates for more leadership closest to the customer. TAKEAWAYS [02:05] Dart is an undergraduate for seven years partly because his brother told him never to graduate! [03:47] Dart explores unpopular forms of writing which makes earning a living hard. [04:37] Being a criminal defense investigator rearranges Dart's soul. [06:45] After a master's degree, Dart becomes a recruiter to earn more as he starts a family. [08:34] Dart's family are scientists, so his career transitioned to analytical work after a recruiting downturn. [09:49] Dart inserts himself into the team doing strategic work designing the new staffing system. [10:52] Finding a home in analytical disciplines which are less burdensome and emotional. [12:26] Dart explores tooling, UX, change management and Six Sigma, ending up with organizational design. [13:36] Facilitating business architecture resonates with Dart who is very interested in how large systems create experiences. [15:03] Companies are ‘n' dimensional: humans cannot observe them or handle more than 3 dimensions. [15:49] Human Resources had not been analyzed from a business architecture point of view before. [17:03] Business architecture is only needed for companies going through significant transformation to discover new operational capabilities needs and how they interrelate. [18:08] Translating strategic capability requirements into tech systems and architecture is not easy. [20:48] Business architecture change derives from either market changes or new tech capabilities—as now. [21:20] The pace layer of technology is usually the slowest thing. Not now, so much experimentation is needed. [22:35] Dart initially subscribes to the traditional model of HR where employees are the inputs of production. [23:48] Employee has happiness has not been a concern—only productivity which Dart finds ethically flawed. [25:10] Dart notices ‘employees' show up in two places—inside (production inputs) and outside (customers). [25:59] Working on a patent for Cisco, Dart explores multi-sided businesses and realizes employees are also (forgotten) customers. [28:25] If employees are customers, what are we selling them? We need to design work better. [29:03] Do people want only autonomy, mastery and purpose? Dart finds 35+ more answers! [30:15] People usually want 8 things from work. Only 4 likely overlap, so how to optimize individually? [31:05] Lack of autonomy is a cost of a job, like social anxiety and threats to health and safety. [32:33] Managers are key to a design-centered solution. [33:28] Design is about empathy, understanding employees' needs, scaling with managers below on the org chart. [34:10] Managers are brokers between demand for the team's labor and the market for work—the work people want to do. [37:10] A team can act as a smart organism allocating its attention to work and delivering value. [38:32] Color coding how rewarding work is—green, yellow, and red. What happens when colors change. [39:41] The range of issues and solutions affecting the cost side of work. [42:14] How do we design our lives so as not to be ‘inputs of production'? [43:31] How a team agrees on what business value is and the core mission. [44:25] Is the manager winning the work the team wants to do? And the type of client the team wants? [47:10] IMMEDIATE ACTION TIP: To enable a dexterous organization, let the edges closest to the customers lead. Giving more agency to the agents will facilitate guided emergence, while anchoring your organization with values, purpose, and focus. RESOURCES Dart Lindsley on LinkedIn Dart's website Dart's Work for Humans podcast Bill Burnet's book “Designing Your Life” QUOTES (edited) “if you're an input to production and my main objective is to make you productive, then if I can make you productive by being happy, great. But, if I can make you productive and you're miserable, great. It's not a concern.” “The only reason I'm going to care about a human is because of what they give me as a company? It just struck me as like ethically flawed.” “For the first 10 years of working in HR, I subscribed to the traditional model of HR which is that employees are inputs of production who must be acquired.” “If employees are customers, what are we selling them? We're selling them work. If work's a product, then it's a design problem and we can design it better.” “Managers are designers, even ‘product' managers. [They act] as a broker between two markets. One market is the demand for the labor of the team—so the value that flows towards the traditional customer. The other is the market for work and the work that people want to do.”

In today's Work Matters, Thomas talks with Dart Lindsley, head of Global Process Excellence for People Operations at Google. He previously led the HR Transformation Planning and Analysis organization at Cisco Systems and is the host of the popular "Work for Humans" podcast. In this discussion, Dart unpacks what makes the middle manager role so challenging. He explains how managers are pulled in two different directions: balancing the needs of the business versus the needs of the team. By not equipping managers to deal with both sides of that equation, companies miss a significant opportunity for improvement. Dart shares how managers can source work that maximizes value for both the business and their team by treating work as a product in a multisided marketplace. He advocates for managers to become a broker to win work from the organization that matches team members' competencies and interests and to allocate that work across the team to improve the day-to-day experience of work. Thus, the middle manager evolves into a designer - crafting a work product that is increasingly desirable and satisfying for his/her team that also delivers increased value to the company. Dart reveals how managers can preserve the degrees of freedom - for themselves and their teams - while staying in alignment with the organization's strategic direction. By not bragging about personal over-achievement and focusing on process excellence, a manager can instead "lead from the sewer" and become someone that gets things done. Dart acknowledges the sacrifice it takes to make much of the work "illegible" but says true success for a manager lies in seeing the team thrive in the short-term in order to reap long-term benefits like more freedom for everyone and increased career advancement for team members. He highlights the competencies of an effective middle manager which include establishing trust horizontally, being straightforward and true to your word, and not being threatening, or overly ambitious. By putting the success of your peers above personal advancement, a manager can design and deliver work that team members love that also benefits the organization. He stresses the need for managers to remain focused on the strategic direction of the company and also be an exemplary model of change in that direction. Dr. Jerome Corsi and Dr. Kat Lindley go in-depth on the World Health Organization's world Pandemic "Agreement." The WHO is seeking, thanks mainly to a complicit group of Western leaders, for undeniable control of the world amid what they deem as "health emergencies." The hook to gullible and accomplice nations would be to convince their populations the plan is about protecting people from the spread of another COVID-esque disease (or perhaps, the new political fad: Disease X). As we know their methods in the past were barely effective to worthless, so what's the big idea? Dr. Lindley and Dr. Corsi break down the plot and how it is all about gaining control: conceivably, under this pact (supported by Joe Biden) the WHO could call for lockdowns and strict rules under anything they call a "health emergency" and force compliance by setting up enforceable consequences for violating their potentially legal structure. Do we trust the WHO and UN to wield this power carefully? We do not think so. This is a Globalist's dream but a true nightmare for everyone else. There is quite a good chance the World Health Organization could claim "Climate Change" is public health emergency and turn their dangerous power on, penalizing the non-compliant in a similar fashion to the Chinese Communist Party's social credit score with imprisonment of political dissidents on the table.Having said that, because this has been in the works for a while, the WHO and UN are farther along on the infrastructure of how such power will be used than you might think.Dr. Lindsley and Dr. Corsi break down what happened, where we are on this and how you can protect yourself from this destructive agendaJoin Dr. Jerome Corsi on Substack: https://jeromecorsiphd.substack.com/Visit The Truth Central website: https://www.thetruthcentral.comOUT NOW: Dr. Corsi's new book: The Truth About Neo-Marxism, Cultural Maoism and Anarchy.Pick up your copy today on Amazon: https://www.thetruthcentral.com/the-truth-about-neo-marxism-cultural-maoism-and-anarchy-exposing-woke-insanity-in-the-age-of-disinformation/Get your FREE copy of Dr. Corsi's new book with Swiss America CEO Dean Heskin, How the Coming Global Crash Will Create a Historic Gold Rush by calling: 800-519-6268Follow Dr. Jerome Corsi on Xr: @corsijerome1Our link to where to get the Marco Polo 650-Page Book on the Hunter Biden laptop & Biden family crimes free online: https://www.thetruthcentral.com/marco-polo-publishes-650-page-book-on-hunter-biden-laptop-biden-family-crimes-available-free-online/Our Sponsors:MyVitalC https://www.thetruthcentral.com/myvitalc-ess60-in-organic-olive-oil/Swiss America: https://www.swissamerica.com/offer/CorsiRMP.phpThe MacMillan Agency: https://www.thetruthcentral.com/the-macmillan-agency/Pro Rapid Review: https://prorrt.com/thetruthcentralmembers/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-truth-central-with-dr-jerome-corsi--5810661/support.

First in a new series of monthly conversations on Silicon Curtain, about how Ukrainians are redefining the ideas of freedom and democracy, and why Ukraine must not be allowed to fall under Russian control. Politicians across the political spectrum are not taking the threat to the international order seriously enough. The war in Ukraine, despite it scale and intensity is still being classed as a regional conflict between neighbouring countries, not as a global struggle for values and power. We are in a dangerous place, where politicians see freedom as a political football, as a commodity and a weapon to be traded and weided. The concept of freedom is being used to grow pivilege and wealth of the few, rather than the many, and to diminish, rather than multiple the sum total of freedom in the world. Politicians are 'freedom signalling', but not taking actions that enhance and expand freedom. ---------- ABOUT: Joe Lindsley is a traveller and a writer, and American reporting on Chicago's WGN Radio from Ukraine each and every weekday of Russia's full-scale war. The Floating Men Media Inquiries: Jeff Holmes jeffreynholmes@comcast.net The Floating Men Return for Three Sold Out Shows in April Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, The Floating Men were among Nashville's most prolific and beloved indie rock bands. Starting out as a hard-touring acoustic rock trio in 1990, the band eventually blossomed into a 7-piece juggernaut that included some of the hottest Americana, rock, and jazz virtuosos in town. “We kept attracting major players till we ended up with David Steele, Chris Cottros, Jody Nardone, Andra Moran and Steve Ebe. As a writer, that kind of musicianship meant I could write anything I wanted, so I did,” co-founders Jeff Holmes chuckles. Fellow co-founder Scot Evans laughs, adding, “…for better or worse.” The Floating Men haven't released a new album or performed live since 2010, but their fans, self-dubbed “The Floatilla,” are as enthusiastic as ever, taking to social media to discuss lyrics, share memorabilia, and swap bootlegs. With the band's blessings, a couple of key instigators went so far as to mix and press two live albums in 2021 from archived recordings. In 2023, the band released the much-anticipated live album “Dreamland,” recorded at an over-the-top performance in 2004. The Floating Men will perform live at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville April 12, 13 and 14, 2024. April 12 and 13 both sold out in one minute each, so the band closed off April 14 to their core supporters on Patreon. “The vision is still evolving but the general trajectory is to focus on fan favorites from the early years with perhaps a few new surprises. But anything could and probably will happen.” Says Holmes with a mischievous grin. https://www.patreon.com/floatingmenhttps://www.facebook.com/floatingmenhttps://www.youtube.com/c/TheFloatingMenHost - Trey MitchellIG - treymitchellphotographyIG - feeding_the_senses_unsensoredFB - facebook.com/profile.php?id=100074368084848Sponsorship Information - ftsunashville@gmail.comTheme Song - The Wanshttps://www.thewansmusic.com/https://www.facebook.com/thewansmusic/https://www.instagram.com/thewans/?hl=en

Who killed Athalia Ponsell Lindsley? The logical suspect was a man who had previously threatened her life. A man, that, conveniently, borrowed a machete from the county and never returned it. A man that had been called out by name by the only eyewitness to the murder. A man who lived in the house with a blood trail leading from the crime scene to its front door. Was this simply circumstantial evidence? You tell us. Sources: Randall, E. (2016). Murder in St. Augustine: The mysterious death of Athalia Ponsell Lindsley. Arcadia Publishing. This week Russia attacked Odesa with missiles and drones, seriously damaging the Odesa National Art Museum building, a designated UNESCO monument (which was 124 years old yesterday). Missiles also hit the city centre damaging several multi-story residential buildings. Eight people were injured by shrapnel wounds. Night after night, Russia hits vital infrastructure, residential building, transport links and cultural objects. Russia is exacting an ever-greater toll on Ukrainian heritage and lives, wealth, and industry. Philip Bowen chats with Emily about his upcoming debut album, Old Kanawha, his journey on America's Got Talent, growing his TikTok following to over 1 million followers, and the difference between the violin and the fiddle. --------------------------- Philip Bowen is a massively talented singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a sound that uplifts the soul and is inspired by his Appalachian roots. He's performed at iconic venues like The Bluebird Cafe and 3rd & Lindsley, and even graced the stage of NPR's Mountain Stage. In May he was the featured guest on Us & Them by West Virginia Public Broadcasting where they discussed how the 38-year-old learned classical violin as well as how to improvise on the fiddle, combining musical styles and genres. After completing his MBA at the University of Tampa, Bowen was encouraged by a friend to create a TikTok account to showcase his fiddle covers and original songs. The rest, as they say, is history. With his infectious positivity and musical talent, Bowen caught the attention of artists like Brandon Davis, Noah Kahan, Spinmont, Styles Haury, Jenna Paulette, Josiah & the Bonnevilles, and many others, earning him over 100 credits as a session fiddle player. Old Kanawha is a musical journey that takes you from the peaks of happiness to the depths of despair, all while celebrating the beauty and resilience of Appalachia and West Virginia. It's not just about catchy melodies and clever lyrics, it's about the universal human experience of navigating the ups and downs of life. Bowen draws inspiration from his own life, from the carefree days of college to the unexpected responsibilities of fatherhood and a draining corporate job. He tackles some tough topics head-on, from addiction to recovery to loss. He wants his music to be a beacon of light for anyone going through a difficult time, reminding them that things can and will get better. And don't expect a one-dimensional portrayal of his home state. Bowen understands that Appalachia and West Virginia are often misunderstood and misrepresented. That's why he weaves in themes and imagery that celebrate the beauty and strength of the region, while also shining a light on the struggles and hardships faced by its people. Bowen was dead set on capturing the essence of West Virginia, so he made it a mission to recruit the most talented musicians from the area. With a WV-based producer and a team of incredible players, they hunkered down at the McCord House Studios in Bridgeport, WV. He met producer Zach McCord, through his buddy Charles Wesley Godwin, who he has worked with in the past. Godwin shows up on the title track to help with vocals. They spent about a week in the studio, days turning into nights turning into days just felt like a blur. The chemistry was on point, the music was flowing, and the vibe was just right. The songs on the record were written between 2019 and 2023, with some dating back to the Fall of 2019 when Bowen finally decided to give music one more serious attempt before giving up on the dream. Two of the songs, “Vampire in Appalachia” and “A Murder,” took the longest to write and were finished just before the last day of recording. The songs were written in various locations including West Virginia, Detroit, Nashville, and the Oregon Coast.

In the winter of 1974 Athalia Ponsell Lindsley was in the midst of a bitter feud with her neighbor, Alan Stanford. The feud ended in brutal fashion on January 23rd when she was murdered in broad daylight on the front doorstep of her St. Augustine, Florida mansion with a machete. Suspects included both Stanford and her husband, James "Jinx" Lindsley. Elizabeth Randall, author of the book "Murder in St. Augustine: The Mysterious Death of Athalia Ponsell Lindsley" is my guest this week. She walks us through the evidence against Stanford and theorizes on why the case has never been resolved.
