SCHEDULE JBS, 6-25-26.JUNE 1957The Fog of Diplomacy in the Strait of Hormuz. Guest: Colonel Jeff McCausland. McCausland discusses a memorandum of understanding with Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear weapons. He notes the Iranian requirement for reconstruction aid and the release of frozen assets. He also touches on the IDF's continued presence in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza despite regional negotiations. 1The Evolving Robotic Battlefield in Ukraine. Guest: Colonel Jeff McCausland. McCausland explains how drones have transformed the war in Ukraine, effectively cutting off Russian supply lines to Crimea. He discusses the massive casualty rates caused by drones and Ukraine's plan to deploy thousands of ground robots. Meanwhile, Russia faces severe manpower shortages and high casualty counts. 2Structural Fatigue and Leaks on the ISS Zvezda Module. Guest: Anatoly Zak. Zak details the critical role of the Zvezda module, which provides propulsion and life support for the International Space Station. He addresses growing concerns over air leaks and cracks in a transfer compartment. While currently manageable, the cracks reappear despite repeated sealing attempts. 3Almaz: The Secret Soviet Spy Station in Space. Guest: Anatoly Zak. Zak describes the top-secret Almaz program, military space stations camouflaged under the "Salyut" name for reconnaissance. These "spy satellites with men" took high-resolution photos of NATO bases. The program was eventually discontinued because robotic satellites proved more effective and less taxing on human crews. 4Emily Brontë's Dark Inspiration from the Family Vault. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz examines the profound impact of Emily Brontë's mother's death and the construction of the family burial vault beneath the church floor. She argues this underground space fueled Emily's literary obsession with dungeons and graves. Lutz also defends Patrick Brontë against historical claims of severity. 5The Influence of Aunt Branwell and Early Tragedy. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz highlights Aunt Elizabeth Branwell's sacrifice in moving to Haworth to raise the Brontë children, introducing them to cosmopolitan stories. The segment also details the tragic deaths of the eldest sisters, Maria and Elizabeth, from tuberculosis after a harrowing experience at a poorly managed boarding school. 6Imaginary Empires and the Fierce Loyalty of Keeper. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz describes the miniature books the Brontë children created to document their imaginary worlds, Angria and Gondal. The discussion shifts to Emily's domestic life in Haworth, where she balanced household chores with writing. Lutz also recounts Emily's intense bond with her massive, formidable mastiff-mix dog, Keeper. 7Brussels, Poetry, and the Birth of a Unique Voice. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz discusses Charlotte and Emily's education in Brussels, where Emily honed her concise writing style and piano skills. Following their aunt's death, the sisters returned to Haworth and used their inheritance to focus on writing. They compiled their poetry into a volume under male pseudonyms. 8The Bell Brothers and the Collaborative Creation of Novels. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz explains how the sisters published their poetry under the pseudonyms Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell to avoid gender bias. Despite selling only two copies, they immediately began collaborating on their first novels. Lutz also explores the troubled life of their brother, Branwell. 9The Reclusive Genius of Emily Brontë. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz describes Emily Brontë's writing habits in her small bedroom overlooking a graveyard. Despite her reclusive nature and strong-minded personality, she lived a life filled with "joy and contentment" while crafting Wuthering Heights. Lutz notes that her sisters initially found the dark, violent novel strange. 10The Experimental Haunting of Wuthering Heights. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz explores the Gothic structure and experimental narrative frames of Wuthering Heights. She suggests Heathcliff is an extension of Emily's own fierce imagination. The segment concludes with the tragic deaths of Branwell, Emily, and Anne from tuberculosis, leaving Patrick as the family's sole survivor. 11The Enduring Legacy of the Brontës in Haworth. Guest: Deborah Lutz. Lutz reflects on the Brontës' lasting cultural impact and Haworth's transformation into a major tourist destination. She discusses the critical backlash the novel initially faced for its violence. Despite the tragedy surrounding their lives, the Brontës remain buried beneath the church they once inhabited. 12The FBI, Money Laundering, and the Russian Mob. Guest: Craig Unger. Unger interviews whistleblower Jonathan Buma, a former FBI agent, regarding investigations into Donald Trump's ties to Russian intelligence. He claims Trump Tower served as a "laundromat" for the Russian mafia to clean illicit funds through luxury real estate. Unger questions why the FBI failed to act. 13Political Interference and FBI Counter-Intelligence Failures. Guest: Craig Unger. Unger discusses how investigations into the 2020 election and Rudy Giuliani were allegedly stymied. He notes that Giuliani received payments from Russian oligarchs, potentially compromising the Trump campaign. Unger and Buma explore why major intelligence agencies and the Department of Justice have not pursued these leads. 14The Chronic Failures of the Cuban Regime. Guest: Mary Anastasia O'Grady. O'Grady analyzes Cuba's ongoing economic misery and electricity crises, which the government blames on the U.S. embargo. She references the failed 10-million-ton sugar harvest of 1970 as a symbol of the state's incompetence. The regime maintains power through bitter repression and control over food resources. 15The Distortions of Global Wealth Taxes. Guest: Veronique de Rugy. De Rugy discusses how the UK's tax system discourages international athletes from competing at Wimbledon by taxing their worldwide endorsements. She argues that oppressive global tax schemes, such as California's proposed billionaire tax, often result in reduced economic activity and lower wage growth for middle-class workers. 16One correction folded in: the guest is Mary Anastasia O'Grady (not "Anastasio") in file 15.

Was Paul a Philosopher? Rethinking the Apostle as Rabbi and Thinker (Joseph Dodson) Ep. #247

How should we understand Paul—as a rabbi, a philosopher, or something else entirely? In this episode, Dr. Joseph Dodson explores Paul as a figure who operates within both Jewish and Greco-Roman intellectual worlds. Rather than forcing a choice between “rabbi” or “philosopher,” the discussion shows how Paul embodies elements of both. He is deeply trained in the Scriptures of Israel and interprets them with methods recognizable within Jewish tradition, yet he is also conversant with the philosophical categories and rhetorical practices of the wider Greco-Roman context. This dual identity helps explain both the content and the form of Paul's letters. His arguments are not abstract theological constructions detached from history, nor are they merely repetitions of inherited tradition. Instead, they represent a dynamic engagement with Scripture in conversation with the intellectual world of his day. The episode highlights how modern readers often flatten Paul into one category or another, missing the richness of his thought. By recovering Paul as both rabbi and philosopher, we gain a clearer picture of how he communicates the significance of the Messiah to diverse audiences. Ultimately, this approach invites us to read Paul with greater historical sensitivity and intellectual nuance. Ever argued over what makes a voice truly unique? We go all-in on that question and discover why “unmistakable” beats “perfect” almost every time. From Cher and Sinatra to Tom Waits, Stevie Nicks, and Bob Dylan, we debate tone, phrasing, range, and the magic test: can you spot them in one note?We kick off with a left-field warm-up on Texas Roadhouse—founder geography, 34-degree cutting rooms, 36-degree beer, fresh-daily bread, and how grassroots roll drops double as smart local marketing. Then it's a tight country news sweep: Ella Langley's triple-chart moment, Jason Aldean's milestone perspective against legacy greats, the Country Music Hall of Fame's American Currents signal, the Braves Country Fest lineup, new drops from Luke Combs to Charlie Crockett, a classic country tour package, and a Lee Brice single stirring up “country nowadays” debate. The throughline is clear: country's center is widening and listeners are picking winners across lanes. Our chart check balances mainstream and indie, spotlighting why a hold at number three means something different than a quick climb to one, and how pop-country crossovers, storytelling, and rock edges share the same field. Then a rapid-fire trivia duel (rock and country) transforms fun facts into a map of genre evolution—Zeppelin's first name, Master of Puppets in 1986, who ripped the Beat It solo, Opry induction stats, Chris Gaines, and more. The mailbag brings the sharpest industry insights. Can an artist be “outlaw” with label money? What's smarter today: 20-track albums or a disciplined singles drip? Is vinyl a real revenue lane or a nostalgia-forward merch play? Who owns the masters when singers go solo—and what can they do about it? In this episode of Shark Theory, host Baylor Barbee shares insights from his recent visit to the Dallas Farmers Market, where an impromptu open mic night sparked reflections on personal authenticity and performance. Baylor recalls his early music days, empathizing with performers who struggle with confidence and the ability to make a name for themselves. Baylor dives into the core challenges artists and speakers face today—authenticity, storytelling, and preparedness. He emphasizes the importance of bringing a personal touch to any performance, insisting that "imitation may be a form of flattery, but it limits self-growth." Baylor continues by discussing the significance of personal narratives, advocating that one's story can create meaningful connections with audiences and clients alike. Lastly, he underscores the necessity of preparation, warning that being unprepared can close doors of opportunity and potentially tarnish one's professional image. Key Takeaways: Authenticity Over Imitation: Strive to add a personal flair to your work to avoid just being a "carbon copy." Storytelling Power: Sharing your backstory can foster deeper connections with audiences. Preparation is Key: Always show up prepared to your performances or presentations to make the best impression. Personal Connection: Letting people in on your personal journey makes you relatable and human. Opportunities are Everywhere: Treat every performance like it might be the one chance to be noticed by someone important. Notable Quotes: "Imitation is the finest form of flattery... but it puts a ceiling on yourself." "It's not what you say during your songs that gets people to like you; it's what you say between your songs." "I don't want anybody to feel alone... I want to give you strategies to win." "You never rise to the occasion; you fall to the level of your discipline." "Always show up your best self; being unprepared is not an option."

You're not creating content for content sake. You're building a platform that will command attention. To succeed, you need to become someone worth listening to. COMMAND ATTENTION BY BECOMING SOMEONE WORTH LISTENING TO In today's episode, we dive into the importance of becoming someone worth listening to. It's the only way to command attention. It's not about having the perfect microphone or even launching the slickest podcast. It's about who you are and how you connect with your audience. Your success requires stepping into the spotlight authentically and creating a platform that will command attention. Let's explore how you can attract listeners and build impactful relationships by truly being yourself. COMMAND ATTENTION WITH THE POWER OF PRESENCE It's all about presence, not just the platform. We often get caught up in the technicalities of podcasting, from RSS feeds to sound quality, but those aren't the cornerstones of success. The true power lies in who you are when you're on the mic. I shared my journey in radio, learning the importance of presence from legendary hosts who commanded rooms. Your voice and personality are what make your podcast resonate. By leaning into your unique identity, you can become someone people not only enjoy but remember. This is how you command attention. UNIQUE VOICE, UNIQUE SUCCESS Finding your unique voice is key to distinguishing yourself from the sea of sameness. I spoke about how I transitioned from imitating others to discovering my own identity in radio. This critical shift allowed me to build a connection with my audience. When I made my shift, people began recognizing me on the street. This was not because I was famous, but because they felt they knew me through my stories and genuine engagement. The same principle applies to your content. To command attention, embrace your uniqueness and share your journey. This will grow your influence. DON'T SETTLE FOR JUST AN AUDIENCE Growing your audience isn't just about numbers; it's about creating raving fans who would follow you anywhere. Many content creators struggle because they aim for listeners rather than influence. When I worked with hosts like Oscar Trimboli, a listening expert, we transformed his show to highlight his expertise and personality. This in turn, drew in an audience keen on his insights. It's about moving beyond mere content to establish trust and authority with your listeners. LET ME HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS Being worth listening to in order to command attention isn't something that happens overnight. It requires strategy and commitment to share who you authentically are. That's why I'm here as your coach. Whether you're just starting or looking to level up, let me guide you. Together, we can refine your approach and uncover the aspects of your personality that captivate your audience. Visit podcasttalentcoach.com/apply for a personalized coaching session. Let's turn your podcast into a platform that leaves a lasting impact so you can command attention.

Send us a textDiscerning God's voice amidst the noise of everyday life presents a profound challenge for many believers. In this illuminating conversation with Naomi Byers, we explore the intricate art of hearing, testing, and applying divine messages with both confidence and humility.Naomi's journey from high school chemistry teacher to prophetic pioneer offers a fascinating perspective on spiritual discernment. With her unique blend of scientific thinking and spiritual sensitivity, she unpacks how God speaks through multiple channels—dreams, Scripture, creation, and even through her children's unexpected pronouncements (what she affectionately calls "clangers"). Her testimony reminds us that divine communication transcends our limited categories and invites us to expand our spiritual receptivity. The heart of our discussion revolves around testing prophetic words with wisdom and community discernment. Unlike superficial approaches, Naomi advocates for a comprehensive process that honors both the seriousness of speaking on God's behalf and the biblical mandate to "test everything." For those navigating the often confusing landscape of modern prophetic ministry, her balanced methodology offers much-needed clarity. We dive deep into understanding your prophetic gifting, challenging unhealthy hierarchies that create unnecessary division within the church. "Each individual, you are the most powerful prophet in your own life," Naomi declares, shifting focus from aspiring to positions toward embracing our unique design and purpose. This perspective aligns perfectly with the Joel 2 vision of the Spirit being poured out on all flesh, empowering every believer to hear and respond to God's voice.Using the powerful metaphor of pottery, Naomi describes spiritual formation as thoroughly messy yet beautiful—much like staying on the potter's wheel while being shaped. Her insights on distinguishing between God-given responsibilities and false burdens cut straight to the heart of ministry burnout, offering freedom to those carrying weights they were never designed to bear. Ready to transform how you hear God speak? This conversation might just be the catalyst you've been waiting for.Support the showwww.greaterthingsinternational.com

Welcome to episode 240 of the Grow Your Law Firm podcast, hosted by Ken Hardison. In this episode, Ken sits down with Karlyn Ankrom, the founder and lead strategist of Oh Snap!  Social and creator of the Fan Firestarter Framework, a new approach to social media marketing made specifically for businesses “tempted to fake their own death and flee to Tahiti at the mere thought of content creation.” Karlyn developed her user-friendly strategy after working for a decade with a variety of brick and mortar businesses who were decidedly social allergic, not because they didn't want to do social media, but because they were intimidated by it. In response, her new system helps newbies get on the fast track to “unsticking their social media” in just one hour per week   What you'll learn about in this episode:   Importance of Authenticity: Outsourcing social media can be effective if there is a strong partnership where the marketer understands the client's voice. Authenticity in content helps build trust and resonates more with the audience. Educational and Engaging Content: Providing valuable information, like tips or common mistakes, engages potential clients better than direct advertising. Content that educates while engaging can enhance the audience's understanding and connection with the brand. Targeting Audiences: Understanding where your audience spends time online (e.g., TikTok for younger audiences, LinkedIn for professionals) is crucial.  Tailoring content to fit the platform and audience ensures better reach and engagement. Use of Video Content:  Short-form videos, like Instagram Reels, are effective for engagement and reaching a broader audience. Utilizing b-roll content with caption overlays can be a simple yet impactful way to connect with viewers. Fun and Experimentation in Social Media:  Incorporating fun and experimentation into social media strategies can lead to better engagement. Reducing stress around content creation and embracing a more relaxed approach can improve results.   Resources:  ohsnapsocial.com/resources Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ohsnapsocial/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/karlynankrom/   Additional Resources:  https://www.pilmma.org/aiworkshop https://www.pilmma.org/the-mastermind-effect https://www.pilmma.org/resources https://www.pilmma.org/mastermind
