This week I talked with Joanna Waterfall, Founder of Yellow Co. a community of women creating meaningful work. She is the guru of helping others find community. So much so that she started a company based on others finding each other and their shared passions.  Joanna and I talk about how we were all made for the community, how to find it, and why it matters. We discuss how hard it can be, how we can be a society that can be socially connected but lonely at the same time. She gives us advice on how to be vulnerable and take the risk to find those who will do life with you.    Another thing at which she excels is teaching us how to create meaningful work. Yellow Co. defines work as creating meaning in this world and making sure what you do aligns with you. A huge part in that is knowing yourself, so you can lead not only yourself but others.   We talk about our own struggles of identity and worthiness and how to find our wholeness so we can help others find theirs.    This is a conversation that will encourage you and set you on your next steps to find or strengthen the community you have always desired.  To learn more about Joanna and Yellow Co. The Radiant Podcast with Kelsey Chapman

Since childhood, Joanna Waterfall has been a creator. While her methods have changed some from the forts she made as a kid, her fascination and love for the world has not. Growing up Joanna's parents encouraged her love for art which lead her to pursue it as her major in college. She started working for herself as a graphic designer, but was inspired by people integrating purpose into their work. Looking around at the creative community and seeing an excess of competition and comparison, Joanna set out to create a community where women can be inspired by purpose and connectivity. With that the Yellow Conference was born. I have truly enjoyed getting to know Joanna and I'm so excited for you to get to do the same! In today's conversation you'll get to hear about how the Yellow Conference was created, more on the process of turning a passion project into a career, and of course the Enneagram snuck its way into the conversation (a norm in my life!).  Joanna speaks on how empathy can be both her biggest strength and weakness and how it transforms her role in leadership. Joanna's humble, compassionate personality allowed me to take a step back from self-placed pressure and just relax. I hope it does the same for you!   Connect with Joanna: WEBSITE // INSTAGRAM Connect with Kelsey: WEBSITE // INSTAGRAM SPONSOR: AVOCADO MATTRESS

It wasn't always about connection and collaboration for Joanna Waterfall. Before founding The Yellow Conference and Yellow/Co. - which started as a yearly event to bring together creative women with businesses designed to do good in the world- she was burned out and tired of competition as a graphic designer. What she did notice during this time in her life, was that she was constantly meeting other women who were inspiring her to be more creative and heart centered. She would meet them through friends, at random events, or by chance and it got her thinking - 'wouldn't it be great to get all these women in one room to share their stories with each other.' And so begins the story of Yellow/Co. With no experience hosting events or conferences, and only an idea in mind, Joanna launched a movement that brings together entrepreneurs, social enterprises, influencers and creatives to collaborate and connect in a welcoming environment - both online and offline. And as I found out, she didn't always dream of being an entrepreneur - she actually thought she'd be working on weddings (find out what job on the podcast). This is a cool one if you want to know more about building community, event planning, collaboration and how to book high profile guests without killing your budget. Plus so much more!
