Professor Samuel Joeckel has been teaching a unit on racial justice at Palm Beach Atlantic University for twelve years. He has been a faculty member at the school for 20 years. All of that came to an abrupt end when administrators at the school fired him for teaching about racial justice.  This is the first interview Professor Sam gave after his dismissal. We talk about his initial reactions to the news, how his students have responded, and what all of this is teaching him about God and faith.  Please support Professor Sam by leaving him encouraging messages, by contributing to his financial support, and by sharing this interview with as many people as possible.  Venmo: @SamJoeckel  We put as much pressure as we can on the university so they can be held accountable for their cowardice.  For more information on the situation see here:  1. ERP implementation is easy. Anyone can do it. But, ironically, anyone can fail it as well. So how can ERP implementation be so easy and difficult at the same time? There are several reasons. But the core reason is how ERP systems are selected and implemented. Most companies follow a checklist approach. And this approach often results into hit or miss scenarios because creating a generalized checklist approach for ERP implementation is nearly impossible, especially for the processes that might be happening outside of the ERP system. In today's episode our guest, Peter Joeckel, who shares his insights into the concept of shadow ERP and how that drives ERP implementation failure. He also discussed how measuring and understanding the shadow ERP processes can result in better outcomes for your ERP implementation. Finally, he shares his insights into the importance of data plumbing and the challenges associated with having multiple software systems in the architecture. For more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs.rocks or elevatiq.com. This week's guest is Jesse Joeckel, the founder, owner and designer of Whalebone Creative. Based in Montauk, New York, Whalebone describes itself as a lifestyle brand that's built around art, design, and surf culture. They sell super soft t-shirts, hoodies, hats and more since 2010. And they have become the definition of a very, very cool brand. Over the eleven years since he started Whalebone, Jesse has never strayed far from his definition of success. And happiness. Over the last few months, many, many people - maybe most people - have spent time thinking about what they want from life. Based on the number of people who are leaving their jobs during what has come to be known as the ‘Great Resignation', the answer is ‘not this.' Indeed, in some industries, a third of the people resigning have no clear idea about what they will do next or where. By the millions, people are challenging their own definitions of success. And even more fundamentally, their definitions of what it means to be happy.

Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 32 The LA Chronicles Open: Welcome to the Hawks Playbook Podcast. Thanks for joining your Hosts Bill Alvstad and Keith Myers. Our Seattle Seahawks enter their bye week in 1st place after beating the Rams 16-10 on the road in LA.  In the News Michael Bennett has plantar fasciitis issue. Luke Joeckel having knee surgery to clean up some meniscus debris left over from his ACL/MCL repair last fall. Joeckel will miss Giants game and will back after that. Seahawks worked out LT Brandon Albert, who ended up leaving without a deal, and inquired about trading for Houston’s Duane Brown.  Featured Segment 1: Seahawks escape LA with 16-10 win over the Rams Wilson was 24/31 for 198 yards, 1 TD and 1 Int. No running game without Carson. Rawls 8 carries for 20 yards, Lacy 9 carries for 19 yards and McKissic 2 carries for 0 yards.  Defense holds NFL’s top offense to 10 points despite lack of offensive consistency to help, zero points in second half. Defense collected 5 turnovers, including two each by Earl Thomas and Sheldon Richardson. Featured Segment 2: How do we fix the offense? Bill and Keith discuss several different ways in which the Seahawks could get more efficiency out of their offense. Other fixes could include other schematic changing to line blocking, quick hitting pass routes and expanding the role of Russell Wilson in the Read Option look, especially if the team also added a few pass plays out of the read option to further complicate the job of the defense to defend those types of plays. Hawks Playbook Podcast Episode 25 - Bubble Burst Open: We are at episode 25, almost ½ a year of bringing you a weekly show devoted entirely to your team, the Seattle Seahawks. The next 25 episodes will hopefully take us all the way past a Seahawks appearance in Super Bowl 52 at the new Vikings Stadium in Minneapolis. Each week until then, we will bring you the good and bad from each game, as well as a look forward to the next opponent.  News:  It has been reported that 5 significant players (Lockett, Bennett, Avril, Wilhoite and Joeckel) are away from the team this week receiving a treatment called Regenokine. The treatment is intended to provide relief to injured areas be it joints or muscle tissue. The players will not play this week and will be ready to join the team for the first regular season game versus Green Bay. Featured Segment: This week’s show is all about looking at the projected 53-man roster and identifying the players that both Bill and Keith have identified as being “On the Bubble”. Those players that are right on the cusp of making the final roster, or being cut in the one and only roster cut down after the final preseason game against Oakland Friday night. This year, the talent depth is deep, and the amount of players that could land outside the final 53 reflects that.  Close: Next week’s show will be crazy amazing as we will have a set 53-man roster, excluding any last-minute cuts and pickups after all the teams cut down to 53.  With 1200 players hitting the open market at once, anything can happen. The Seahawks pick up another preseason victory after a 20-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin looked like they were already in midseason form as they put on a show in front of the home crowd. Russell Wilson threw for two touchdowns and the Seattle defense held the Vikings first-team offense to a couple field goals. Kasen Williams had another score and appears to have locked up a job on this team in the eyes of most fans. At running back the guys talk about the potential three-man race for the final spot on the roster and who is currently in the lead. The guys talk about which of the 2017 rookies are really standing out and which ones could play a significant role come Week 1. Pete Carroll's philosophy of letting a younger and more inexperience player crack the starting lineup could mean that guys like Ethan Pocic, Nazair Jones and Shaq Griffin can be contributors right away. With two preseason games down, Brandan is noticing that his feelings on two of the free agent acquisitions are going in opposite directions than expected. Eddie Lacy had the start this week and had fewer yards than any of the Seahawks running backs with more than three carries in the game. And it was Blair Walsh providing some excitement and taunting his former team with a pair of 50+ yard field goals. The upcoming game against the Chiefs gives the Seahawks another look at a strong defensive line going into the season. George Fant's gut wrenching injury appears to allow Rees Odhiambo to move into the starting lineup, but why isn't Joeckel, a guy they've flaunted as one who can play both guard and tackle on the left side, moving over to take Fant's job? After the break, the guys remind fans not to expect roster cut downs to 75 this year as the rules changed and now the cuts to the 53-man roster will be done all at once. Brandan talks about his experience in the Bay Area and how hyped Raiders fans are to have Marshawn Lynch playing for their team this season. The eclipse this week dominates the coverage in the Do Better segment and Better at Life honors go to a little league show of sportsmanship and a former rival wide receiver who decided to hang up his cleats.
