Zu seinen Lebzeiten um die Jahrhundertwende war Kammerer (1880–1926) ein weltweiter Superstar der Wissenschaft. Die New York Times bezeichnete ihn sogar als den „zweiten Darwin“. Doch Kammerers steile Karriere endete in einer Tragödie und einem der größten Wissenschaftskriminalfälle der Geschichte: 1926 wies ein amerikanischer Forscher nach, dass Kammerers wichtigstes Krötenpräparat mit Tinte gefälscht worden war. Kurz nach dieser Entdeckung beging der einst gefeierte Biologe Suizid. Um dieses Rätsel zu entschlüsseln, haben wir den Wissenschaftsjournalisten und Experten Klaus Taschwer eingeladen.
