As season two continues, I am thrilled to have Kelley Mickwee on the show today. Kelley is a fellow Cherokee who moved to Austin from Memphis and joined up with a killer four piece called the Trishas. She's a Shiny Soul Sister in Kevin Russell's Shinyribs. She's a founding member of Red River Songwriters along with Drew Kennedy, Josh Grider, Walt Wilkins, Susan Gibson and Brandy Zdan. But what I admire most about Kelley is her show on Sun Radio called River Girl Radio. We talked about her love of said show and how the theme of the often has her diving into deep artist listening. Much like my passion for doing this podcast. Cleaning also comes into our conversation about her records. If you don't mind heading over to Apple podcasts and giving us a review, we'd sure appreciate it awful good! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/my-top-five-records/id1494022573 Cheers! www.kelleymickwee.com www.thetrishas.com www.redriversongs.com www.sunradio.com www.shinyribs.org https://thebiggunshow.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thebiggunshowband/ https://www.instagram.com/thebiggunshowband/ https://www.youtube.com/thebiggunshowband
Do not be fooled by Drew Kennedy's kind demeanor or his thoughtful music. Drew was raised to be a Wall Street tycoon or perhaps someone more akin to Jason Bourne, but rejected that life path to accept a calling into the arts, more specifically, a Texas Country Singer-Songwriter.Listen as Blair and Drew discuss his childhood that began in the suburbs of Philadelphia, then to the small town of Hanover, PA and on to his schooling at an all-male college, Hampton-Sydney College to play baseball. Against all odds, Drew discovers a talent for creating music and sharing life's stories through song like the troubadours before him.
Jan. 30: On this episode ... Drew and Shauna discuss how they want to be remembered and Drew ranks the things he hates about Millennials. There is an outside chance that Shauna is struggling with her plant-based diet and craving some "Drew nuggets." Live Music: "Good People" by Josh Grider
Aug. 21: On this episode ... Drew gives an extensive recap of his solo adventure to Big Bend, which included fire ants and soup in a bag ... Shauna talks about firing clients ... and they discuss weird food combinations. Also, there is some CreoSote Bush Salve involved. #beboldLive Music: Good People by Josh Grider

THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast
In the late 1990s, Texas Country Music Stalwart, Josh Grider, made his way from Las Cruces, New Mexico to Luckenbach, TX for one of Willie Nelson’s “4th of July Picnics”. The experience opened his horizons to what was out there for aspiring singers and songwriters beyond what could be heard on nationwide country radio at the time. Josh mentions seeing some notables for the first time including Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green, Cory Morrow and others and how it changed his outlook as to what just may be attainable in the music business. Josh initially moved to Waco, TX to attend college at Baylor University where he started his first band, “Riverside”. After graduation, Josh moved to Austin to focus more on his music and he released his first project in 2005. In 2011, Josh moved to Nashville after earning a publishing deal and began working with producer and fellow Texan, Trent Wilmon. During this time Josh explains he learned a huge deal about the amount of creativeness that exists in the city of Nashville and just how many hard-working songwriters are cranking out new songs there on a daily basis. Although Josh ended up moving back to Texas where he’s now raising a family, he still commutes to Nashville for meetings and writing appointments because as he states, it IS Music City USA. Additionally, for those like Josh (and yours truly), if your goal is to eventually have a song picked up and cut by a major artist, working in that town is nearly a must. So, sit back and enjoy this interview with a guy who has one of the smoothest baritone voices in the scene: Josh Grider. https://www.joshgrider.com/ Don’t forget about the upcoming 610 Music Festival. I'm a fan of singer/songwriter Ben Danaher. I heard him live for the first time at the Red River Songwriters' Festival, and I fell in love with his sound. Then, I got the chance to sit down with Ben during the Road Less Traveled in Red River. I fell even more in love with Ben after hearing his story. Spoiler alert: You will too! #liveonpurpose
A full hour of unadulterated greatness. It starts with an incredible in-studio interview with singer/songwriter Josh Grider. We also talk to the founders of 1950 Clothing Co. Finally...it's Random Acts of Kindness Week. We heard a powerful story from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. #liveonpurpose
The incredible singer/songwriter Josh Grider profoundly impacted by life 10 years ago with his song "Stumbling on the Edge of Greatness." I got the chance to visit with him recently about the last 10 years, his upcoming album "Good People" and his dream of catching a wave. Has he stumbled over the edge of greatness? Don't ask me...I'm biased. #liveonpurpose
