Get a Backstage Pass by visiting our Patreon page EPISODE #207 RODNEY PYEATT I was lucky to have a great group of musicians join me in the recording studio on my very first project back in 2003. The guy who handled all of the guitar work on that project was named Rodney Pyeatt. Rodney, and those around him, realized he was a very talented guitar player early on in his life. His talents eventually led to him playing with some incredible musicians in his career including Selena, Rick Trevino, The Mike McClure Band & Stoney LaRue. He's now working a lot in the recording space as well as still working as a guitar player when his services are called upon. He's had some amazing experiences and some that have been tragic in his life but as you'll hear in the interview, he's taken it in stride. GET HEALTHY WITH PETE ! Through one of these events in his life he nearly lost his ability to play guitar completely when he nearly cut the index finger on his left hand completely off! But you can't keep a good man down for long and he's still putting his God-given talents to work! He's a good human being and one I'm glad to be lucky enough to call a friend! To get in touch with Rodney via email you can reach out to him at guitartroubadour01@gmail.com SWEETWATER - Buy your gear using our affiliate link! Enjoy the episode!

This week on The Whiskey Trip, Big Chief steps away from the distillery scene to welcome Southeast Texas country music artist Chloe Overstreet and her guitar, Angel, to Bayou Sunset Farm. Over pours of sweeter whiskeys, Chloe opens up about her music and the journey of breaking into the country scene. At just 21, Chloe has been singing her heart out since her early teens, and she has a soft spot for sweeter whiskeys. Big Chief kicks things off with Traverse City Whiskey Company's American Cherry Edition—a taste of cherry pie in a glass. Next up is Hermann Farm and Distillery's Black Shire Blackberry Flavored Whiskey, a true dessert whiskey that's perfect over ice or warmed. In the second half, Big Chief shares some Garrison Brothers Honeydew—a wheated bourbon with a gentle honey touch that makes for an ideal nightcap. To wrap up, Chloe gets the honor of helping Chief polish off one of his all-time favorites, a Honey Cask from Giant Texas Distillery. With notes of sorghum molasses, figs, and a kick of cinnamon spice, it's one he'll miss. This episode brings together two of Big Chief's great loves: soulful music and remarkable whiskey. Cheers to another unforgettable ride on The Whiskey Trip!

The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page Based in Refugio, Texas, songwriter Devin Michaels received his first guitar in 2017 and has been weaving his thoughts into music ever since. His quiet nature meant that music could be an outlet – a way to get out all the things he couldn't otherwise say. While he was raised on George Strait, Merle Haggard, and his grandmother's beloved Tejano music, Devin puts something a little grittier out into the world from his own fingertips. He combines influences from the music of his childhood with elements of rock and alternative to create a sound that is loyal to classic country but can entertain a rock n' roll crowd easily. His songs conjure vivid images, making audiences feel every emotion Devin has poured into each line. Whether it be the angsty and angry Wasted Time, or the heartbreakingly haunting ballad, Whiskey, he brings the listener on a journey rather than simply telling them a story. Backed by a five-piece band, Devin creates music for people who love hard and hurt deeply. He sees himself and his music as an outlet for the brokenhearted. THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast
The #1 way you can support The Troubadour is by visiting our Patreon page This episode features our interview with Country Music artist Donice Morace. You can't fake authentic. You know it when you see it – and you know it when you hear it. Authentic isthe best word that can be used to describe Donice Morace. From his chiseled good looks and easy-goingpersonality that exude the confidence of a man who knows exactly who he is, to his music which catchesyour ear and takes you back to another era when country music was defined by vocal stylists who were immediately identifiable, Donice is truly authentic. Donice began his journey in music at the tender age of six when his father bought him his first guitar. By the time he was a junior in high school he was singing in choir, and after seeing George Strait in concert while in college at Texas A&M, it became clear to him that music would be his life's calling. The Vidor,Texas native found inspiration from the music of Keith Whitley, George Jones, and Conway Twitty. And while those country traditionalists helped to shape his own sound, it was two local country music heroes, Tracy Byrd and Mark Chesnutt, who gave Donice a good blueprint when it came time to take hiscareer to the professional level and launch his own band. “I learned so much from watching how they had handled their careers. It was like Honky Tonk 101. Donice continued to grow his stock with the release of his debut self-titled EP in 2017, which featured the top 25 single, “Good Hurt Comin' On,” and “WD-40 and Duct Tape,” which was accompanied by a music video, and peaked at number 15 on the Texas Regional Radio Report. He doubled down with the release of his debut album ‘Long Live the Cowboy' in 2019, unashamedly putting the cowboy back in country music. Fast forward to today, Donice recently released his latest critically acclaimed album ‘This Life I Love,' marking a watershed moment for Donice to continue stake his claim on the country music landscape. The album features his recent trilogy of hit singles and music videos, “One Drink In,” “Goin' Goin'” and “Wait Til I'm Gone.” Individually and collectively, these songs have shone a bright light on the Texas native, notched him a win as “Emerging Artist of the Year” at the 2022 Texas Country Music Awards, and garnered high praise and coverage from some of country music's largest media outlets. Donice Morace remains the “One to Watch” in the neo-traditional country music movement that he is helping to spearhead. We're also excited to say that we are now an affiliate for Sweetwater.
