Prophecy Radio episode #99 discusses all the latest Rick Riordan news, including some new information about the Chalice of the Gods book tour and the special guests who will be attending. Plus, we tackle The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid chapter 22, in which Carter gets up close and personal with Leroy, before breaking down our predictions for the rest of the book ahead of us putting the discussion on pause to switch over to Chalice of the Gods. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air weekly, and we keep our discussions PG-13. News and Updates (00:01:43) You'll never guess who's going to be on the next season of Survivor! Or, if you saw our tweet, you already know. You can listen to our interview with J. Maya on Prophecy Radio episode #69. Make sure you watch her intro video and read her blurb on EW. Have you been keeping an eye on the Rick Riordan Presents books on Book Outlet? Have you read The Spirit Glass yet? Don't forget that Serwa Boateng's Guide to Witchcraft and Mayhem comes out on September 12! Read Riordan wants you to meet Declan and Auntie Effie. Don't miss out on the in-person event for Serwa Boateng 2 at Loyalty Books. The Sun and the Star has been on the NYT Bestsellers list for HOW many weeks!? The Chalice of the Gods book tour has some very special guests. The Kane Chronicles: The Red Pyramid discussion (00:15:37) This week, we're discussing The Red Pyramid chapter 22. It really shouldn't be that easy to get through airport security? The set animal kind of looks like a moose, I guess? Bast wants them to run, but Carter wants to hold his ground, and we're so proud of him. Is this Horus making him more reckless, or is he becoming braver? How awesome was it that he could just pull his sword from thin air? Carter then gets up close and personal with Leroy. Go, chicken-man, go! Leroy gets shoved in a locker, and it's pretty impressive. Time to go to sleep, which means it's time for Prophecy Count #37! There's a giant underground red pyramid in Phoenix, and this does not bode well. We're choosing not to picture Face of Horror. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like Set will underestimate Carter and Sadie again. Is Face of Horror working for another baddie? Can't believe we're leaving off on this chapter while we go read Chalice of Gods… Predictions for The Red Pyramid and beyond! (00:39:55) Will Carter and Sadie's mom ever come back into the story? Will Nephthys be able to convince Set to walk away from his evil machinations? Do we think Amos is going to survive this book? Is it possible that Thoth won't take sides? There will be a greater evil, and we'll just leave it at that. What if Zia ends up going against the House? By the end of this book, could the House accept Carter and Sadie as godlings? And if so, will Desjardins survive this!? We really need to learn more about him and his backstory. What if Bast is the one to make the big sacrifice? Will the kids have trouble controlling the gods inside them? Who is that boy Sadie keeps seeing and what does he want!? What other gods do we want to see? Ra has to show up at SOME point, right? What happens if and when Julius comes back into the picture? Feedback (01:10:07) When chatting with Ian, we learned some info about how publishing the Rick Riordan Presents books work. (Here's the link to The Spirit Glass on Amazon UK.) Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 100, where we'll celebrate our major milestone and do a character catch-up ahead of Chalice of the Gods! In this episode of the Nick Carter Detective Stories, we see Carter take on a new disguise in his quest to solve the crime at the Red Dragon Inn. He secures a typical tough look from a costumer and heads to Lem Samson's saloon, where he hopes to find some information about the case. Carter's plan involves waiting in the back room and observing everyone who enters the barroom. He's waiting for someone specific - Brockey Gann. Brockey is an old pal of Mugsey Donovan, a character that Carter is disguised as. When Brockey finally enters the saloon, he doesn't recognize Carter, thinking he's Mugsey. The two men engage in a conversation that reveals Brockey is involved in some kind of game. Carter tries to get more information, but Brockey is hesitant to talk in the barroom where they might be overheard. Eventually, Carter convinces Brockey to go to a quiet joint where they can talk in private. But before they leave, Brockey asks Carter where he was the previous night. Carter laughs, knowing he's getting closer to the truth. Listeners can't help but be drawn into the suspenseful atmosphere of the saloon as Carter and Brockey engage in a tense conversation. Will Carter finally get the information he needs to solve the case? Tune in to find out.Theme written by Bernard Kyer for this podcast. What does music have to do anything with Foster childern? Foster kids, once they age out of the system (typically around 18 years old), have an unemployment rate of 47%. Nearly 50% of former foster children are homeless with 18 months of release from the system, and 80% of the prison population is made up of former foster youth. (*) Amped Kids Foundation (501 (c) 3 organization) believes in building a community of support, and empowering our foster youth for a better future. It's a known fact that children who are involved in music education programs have higher academic scores, higher graduation rates, and and stronger relationships. Amped Kids provides instruments to kids, along with professional music lessons, songwriting workshops, band scholarships, and other unique music experiences, bringing mentorship, healing, support, and connection to children. Founded in Georgia by April Rooks, she brought Dave Craver from "Micro Music Festivals" on board as President, who along with Music City's own Will Carter are working on opening new chapters across the nation, starting right here in Nashville, TN. If you are someone who has a musical instrument that is no longer being used, and want to make a difference in a foster child's life, then check out this episode, and listen to what Dave and Will have to share about what Amped Kids are doing to change lives. The 2022 Penn State football season is fast approaching, so Blue White Illustrated is getting you ready with BWI Two-A-Days. Each day host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer discuss a position group and give a season preview for fans. Today they focus on the linebackers.  The linebacker group might be the most interesting positional breakdown of any heading into the fall. On the one hand, the team has linebacker Curtis Jacobs leading the defense. But, on the other hand, Tyler Elsdon and Kobe King are fighting during camp to decide which inexperienced player will get his first start at middle linebacker. Throw in the positional ambiguity of the third linebacker spot, and the Nittany Lion fans have a wide variety of topics to discuss with the group.  T-Frank starts with the "starters" for this group, looking at Jacobs, King, and Elsdon. To start the show, T-Frank and Bauer discuss how vital that battle is in the middle of the defense. Next, T-Frank wants to know why Jacobs isn't getting the same hype as some of his predecessors despite producing more at similar points in his career than they did.  Next, the duo discusses Jonathan Sutherland's role in the defense and the nature of Manny Diaz's defense. There's still confusion about which players are playing behind Sutherland or can potentially see snaps at that linebacker spot. T-Frank assumes that only safety-type players are playing at the new "Striker" position, but he asks Bauer if he's missing something.  After discussing that position, they shift their focus to the young players at the position behind the starters. T-Franks comments on the staff's excitement in freshman Abdul Carter and wonders out loud about another player on the roster. Will Carter pass more experienced players on his way to a role in the defense? Bauer points out a critical fact that might shift the conversation.  Lastly, they wrap up the show with their X-Factors and indicate which way they think the stock is heading for the Penn State linebackers.  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annual SUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmation Bookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/ Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters: https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394 Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/ Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3 Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.com Learn more about your ad choices. On this 262nd episode of the Turtle Soup Podcast, we review the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Animated Series - Season 10 - Episode 2 "The Beginning of the End" from Sept 21st 1996. This episode finds the TMNT still dealing with Leonardo's "hyper mutation" brought on by Dregg's Microbots disrupting the power to the lair during an attempted cure for their unstable mutations from episode 1 of this season. Donny tries yet again to cure Leo of his hyper mutation and appears to be successful however Leo starts to feel sick again and the other Turtles (namely Raphael), are ruthless in their needless bullying of him. Carter is still lamenting that he is still uncured of his mutation as well. All the while, the baddies are continuing their schemes to further mutate the turtles out of existence. In order to accomplish this Dregg needs some materials that they don't have at the moment so Mung suggests Plutonium as an alternative. We see hyper mutated Leo hit the streets again and this time destroys a hockey arena. We also get to witness more of April's apathetic attitude toward doing any TMNT related stories for the news anymore. On top of that, we get to see her fawn of the wonders of the internet and its glorious ability to allow her to research stories. Stories about carjackings and how to determine who, what, when, where, and why the next one will take place. Dregg gets the Plutonium. April hides in a car that gets stolen, in an attempt to get into a chop shop (an attempt that is successful, surprisingly). Dregg shows up at the chop shop and uses the microbots to transform it into a... science base? Leo is potentially "cured" but quickly is informed that he's nuclear! Can the Turtles prevent Leo from exploding and taking a chunk of New York with him? Will this be the Turtle story that breaks April's back? Why is there a room full of animals in cages and 1 loose gorilla? Will we see "Otto Wrecker" ever again? Will Carter walk away and go to college this time? Is breaking into a facility to steal plutonium as easy as cartoons make it seem? All this and more to be discussed on Episode 262 of Turtle Soup Podcast, live streamed every Thursday at 8pm EST! Will Carter was well on his way to everything he ever wanted. Enter Victoria. For 6 months their life together was bliss, but not for long. In January 2012 Victoria assaulted Will with a hammer and bit him deep in the shoulder. He tried to restrain her but still wound up bloody, with wounds to his head. Victoria said she would just tell the cops that Will raped her and she was defending herself.  Unwilling to believe it, Will calls the authorities and winds up getting arrested.  Victoria blackmailed Will, saying if he did exactly what she said, she would get the charges dropped. Not only did she do it, but she eventually killed him by shooting him 10 times.

So much country music today chases images of imaginary love stories leading to fairytale and film worthy lyrics. Country nights in a pickup truck down the back roads of your hometown tell the real tales of growing up for the Texas native and southern bred Will Carter. Growing up in a small town with a deep passion for music, Will Carter has been chasing his own dream down many roads for a long time. His father was his biggest supporter from the very beginning. After losing his father at the very early age of 13, Will Carter developed an unstoppable motivational drive to continue to pursue his dreams. He's telling his story with a voice that's turning complete strangers into life-long listeners.

THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

As songwriters, we’re really nothing more than storytellers who add music to our various tales.  That’s where it all begins for me – “stories”.  Stories about lost love, gained love, unreciprocated love.  Stories about depression, happiness and amazing larger than life characters.  And on top of that it’s not only the stories but it’s how they are told.  Remember, there are a lot of different ways to say the same thing.   I really think my love for stories is why I like this road that Carly and I, along with our listeners, get to walk down each week with the artists we talk to.  We get to hear “their” story and hear about things that occurred in their life that shaped them into who they have become as an artist and human being.  On today’s episode we interview Texas Country Music artist Will Carter.  Like many of our past guests, it almost seems like Will has lived multiple lifetimes in one.  For reasons Will explains in the interview he had to grow up early in life and by the time he graduated college he had almost 10 years of work experience in his chosen field as well as a degree.  His solid work ethic eventually led to him starting his own successful business outside of music.  However, it was the experience he gained as the lead singer for well-known Texas cover band, The Emotions, that propelled Will into chasing after his own career as a solo artist.  During his time with The Emotions, who’s past lead singers include names like John Michael Montgomery, Chris Cagle and David Kersh, Will really learned what it was like to lead a band and develop a show that connects with an audience. As you’ll hear in the interview, Will Carter has gone to great lengths in his own career to implement tools used by national well-known acts to shape his live show into basically a relationship building experience with his crowds.  Well-established and up and coming artists alike can learn a bunch from Will into how important using a well-thought out formula is to their live performances as well as their entire careers. Will’s past includes experiences that have shaped his include the tragic loss of his father when he was only 13 years old.  As the oldest child, Will immediately had to begin working at a young age and metabolize the loss of his dad while in his youth.  Will has done incredibly well at overcoming this hardship and even memorializes his farther in the video for his song “Red Sunrise.” I expect big things from this kid. Sparknotes Transcript(0:56) Will Carter disown his Jansen brother for his opinion on Maleficent 2, live action remakes vs new take from villains perspective, can we get a Jafar movie? lack of humor kills this movie, visually impressive, the preview with bad CGI compared to the film, nice seeing Jolie who does so few movies, Pfeiffer gets a fun role [that no one will remember fondly because the character is nonexistent], high hopes for Elle Fanning yet not particularly good in Galveston & Neon Demon, fits in a fairy tale, is this a feminist tale, are the roles juicy for female actresses, not one scene I'd watch again, everything Scorsece says about Marvel movies is actually true about these Disney cartoons(17:00) SURVEYING THE LANDSCAPE: comparing to Pirates 5, why didn't a woman direct these films, why did they put so much money into this, doesn't set up sequels or more world to mine, franchise running out of gas, how Disney missed an opportunity to make more money, More Universes, Marvel as the modern day fairy tale(27:08) DRILLING INTO THE ASTEROID: Aurora & her Groots, what does Maleficent do all day — stare at things, remembering the great thespian Brenton Theiwates, a teenage Jai Courtney, discovering secret lairs for no reason, Jolie & Pfeiffer should be on the same team, Maleficent a better Dark Phoenix than any X-Men, cutting all the fairy B Plot, side quest of a movie, Forrest not liking Fantasy but liking this movie, why is everyone British, dragons & Reign of Fire, Sean Connery voicing a dragon, enjoying the story because it was so pointless, Maleficent deserved to be framed, can't have the head guard end up alone, Race Wars with Dom Torretto(54:09) CASTING CALL: making David Gyasi Prince Phillip, Dakota & Elle Fanning both stuck in the adult/child in-between, will The Kingsman visual style carryover into Kingsman 3, Bad Boys 3 in January is a worrying sign as is the trailer, Warwick Davis still bringing his troll game, Nicole Kidman, turning this movie into female The Irishman for actresses over 50, Charlize back as Raveena(1:06:06) DEVELOPMENT HEAVEN: wanting to see Elle Fanning go dark, Pfeiffer as Satan, casting Nicole Kidman as a old Elle Fanning, sequel that is just one big Red Bull ad, Prometheus & Icarus combination, Maleficent becomes the beauty that sleeps, Cardi B in Fast 9

When an evil crime lord grows powerful enough to make multiple sovereign nations break into a cold sweat, there's really only one thing to do: call in a pair of hilarious but effective buddy cop comedy duos who cook some fools and don't play by the rules! Chief Inspector Lee of the Hong Kong police department is on the case, and still hasn't managed to shake off his partner, Detective James Carter of the LAPD. Rush hour has arrived once again, and Carter and Lee are ready to stop the traffic...of crime! However they soon find out that for this mission, they have some British competition -- and there's nothing they can do about it, the paperwork has all been signed. Sanford's own Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman are also here in the name of promoting the greater good (the greater good) and quickly decide to show their international rivals why farmers and farmer's mums alike have learned to fear the fuzz! Will Carter and Lee demonstrate that war, huh, is sometimes good for winning Smash Fiction matches? Or will Angel and Butterman politely explain why you never touch an Englishman's police investigation? Tune in for fun and explosions as our advocates get heated in opening arguments, feel the rush in rebuttals, and improbably acquire the power of time travel in the Lightning Round! Also, if you've ever been curious to see just how angry Miles can get about a piece of media he doesn't like, you'll want to check this one out.

When it comes to digital evidence, encryption is not even close to being law officers' top concern. Their bigger problems have to do with getting access to unencrypted evidence, according to a new study by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The report recommends a bigger role for the federal government in helping state and local police access digital evidence. Will Carter, deputy director of CSIS' technology policy program, talked with Federal Drive with Tom Temin about the recommendations.
