With a career spanning over four decades, Steve Earle has proven himself a master storyteller and one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of his generation. In 1986, his record Guitar Town, was released to wide-spread critical acclaim, shooting to number one on the country charts, and is today, regarded as a classic of the Americana genre. While he first won an audience as a country artist, it didn't take long for him to demonstrate that designation was too narrow for him. His rough neck poetics, outspoken and unapologetic lyrical stance, and literate yet down to earth musings, have captivated audiences across genres, with his music running the gamut from country, bluegrass, and folk to the blues, roots, and rock. With 22 studio albums under his belt, he has found room for both personal and the political, often writing about the stuff of everyday life and the forces that shape and define our existence. Some of his most notable releases including his commercial breakthrough Copperhead Road (1988), and Grammy Award winning records The Revolution Starts...Now (2004), Washington Square Serenade (2007), and TOWNES (2009). The versatility in his discography, the strength of his work, and consistent critical acclaim has helped Earle attract a loyal following, who are more than happy to continue following his stylistic evolution. Cut from the same cloth as legendary folk singer-songwriters like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Joni Mitchell, Zandi Holup's raw brand of original folk country flourishes through raw unfiltered storytelling reminiscent of Dolly Parton and emphasized by her emotive vocals. Her edgy, deeply emotional lyrics and unique voice set her apart. She sings about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Her music is a voice for the unheard. A Grassroots following placed her on the map as snippets of demos and unreleased songs resonated across social media in increasing numbers. Her first release, “Wait for You,” sat at No. 1 on the all-genre Spotify Fresh Finds playlist, amassing over a million streams with no promotion outside of her TikTok following. Named a 2023 Artist to Watch by The Nashville Briefing, Holup signed a publishing deal with Arthouse Entertainment and TurnTable Music in partnership with Universal Music Publishing, and a record deal with Big Loud Records in 2023.

Jean Beauvoir joined the Plasmatics in 1979, playing bass and keyboards for the most notorious band to emerge out of the New York City punk scene. By 1982, he was a member of Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul, a retro-rock revival act headed by Steven Van Zandt. Beauvoir also considers the manner in which his Haitian heritage has shaped his public image, his music, and his role as an activist for the dispossessed and the poor.Jean Beauvoir is an American singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter of Haitian descent. Guitar World featured him on its list of the fifty “Most Influential Black Rockers” of all time. Beauvoir's worldwide music catalogue, currently administered by Universal Music Publishing, contains over 600 published titles. As an artist, producer, and songwriter, he has sold in excess of 40 million records. He lives in Bonita Springs, FL. If you've ever wondered what music publishers do on the “record side” of the music industry, you're going to find out on this week's episode of TAXI TV! Publishing executive Andrea Torchia has been in the music business for her entire adult life. She's the daughter of legendary record producer, Denny Diante, and learned how to pick hits at a very early age. Here's an excerpt from her bio: While other teenage girls might have enjoyed sleepovers, Andrea was evaluating playbacks at Devonshire and Conway studios. When her dad would bring boxes of demos, the two listened intently. “As he would break them down, I was his secretary,” Andrea remembers. “I might write ‘Lyrics not strong enough in the hook, ‘needs a bridge' or ‘double chorus not necessary.' I learned all about song structure.” While barely out of college, she began working in A&R, promotion and publicity at Chrysalis/ EMI while learning the music publishing business. As Creative Manager at Rondor Music Publishing, she represented contemporary and classic catalogs including the iconic songs of Gerry Goffin and Carole King. As Senior Creative Director of Zomba Music Publishing, she placed songs, connected writers and artists, and facilitated a roster with Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Macy Gray, and Justin Timberlake. At Universal Music Publishing, named Senior Director of Creative Services, she formulated relationships for Ron “Neff-U” Feemster, Harvey Mason Jr., and Lamont Dozier among others, while attaining covers for the company's extensive repertoire. Her valuable industry experience led to her appointment as Vice President, A&R for TAXI Music, where Andrea achieved multiple label, film television and commercial placements for the company's songwriters. Tapped as Vice President, Creative, with Razor & Tie Music Publishing, she worked the company's multiple format catalogs, while guiding creative input and fostering partnerships both domestically and internationally. Two long-term consulting endeavors – with pop powerhouse Rock Mafia Recordings, and 1111/Universal Music Publishing, a co-venture with 16- time Grammy winner David Foster, preceded her tenure as VP Creative with the U.S. division of the Japanese company Avex. Andrea expedited a diverse roster ranging from the legendary Burt Bacharach to her signee, hit songwriter-producer Tommy Brown, whose number one Billboard debuts included “Thank U Next” and “7 Rings” for Ariana Grande, plus songs and productions for Juice Wrld, Meghan Trainor and many others. It was at Avex that Andrea signed The Attire, sparking their transformation into a modern pop duo. Post Avex, she continued the artist development process as co-founder and Senior VP, Creative at Base Station Media. Don't Miss This Episode! We're really excited to have Andrea join us so we can get a real insider's look at what goes on behind the scenes at huge publishing companies today, and how things in the publishing world have evolved over the last decade or two!

Marc Ferrari is a RnR business animal. Known for being the lead guitar player in Keel and Cold Sweat, Marc has played to thousands of Rock n Roll animals around the world. Marc has done the whole Rockstar thing, but that is just a small stop in his musical journey through life. Some of Marc's career highlights include, writing songs for the 96 Summer Olympic Games, writing and releasing 2 solo records, playing guitar for Crucial Taunt, a fictional band in a couple of the most iconic movies from the 90s Wayne's World. Oh and did we forget to mention that Marc is also a writer. Marc has written two books, a music business book called "Rock Star 101" and a children's book called "Don't Dilly Dally Silly Sally". All of these accomplishments, and they still are probably not his most financially or intellectually biggest success. When Marc's musical career was starting to decline in the early 90s when the fans of hard rock and metal started to turn to grunge, Marc started Mastersource, a music publishing company to license music to TV and movies. He grew that company at the right time and later sold it to Universal Music Publishing. He's an entrepreneur, investor, musician, writer, producer, and in all of that he still found the time to work on a re-release of the cult hard rock record "Break Out", from his band Cold Sweat. We caught up with Marc and discussed some of his days with Keel and some of his many accomplishments, along with the release and re-master of Cold Sweat's one and only record "Break Out" Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @growinuprock.com Like us and leave us a review on our FaceBook page - @growinuprock or Podchaser Follow us on Twitter - @growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at the platform of your choice and leave us a review Support Music / Artist / and this Podcast You can help out the Podcast by doing all of your shopping at Amazon using our link below. “You have to invest in yourself before anyone can look at your situation and offer help. That’s what separates people.” Born in Nyack, NY, with the same birthday as Kobe, James entered this world to do something great. His family is first generation Haitian, and James grew up in a diverse neighborhood, as a kid playing basketball, loving hip hop, and into girls, clothes, and his tight crew of friends. But at 14 years old, his life was turned upside down, as he would have to leave everything he knew, and move to Georgia. Challenged with making new friends, experiencing racism, adapting to a new culture, and battling depression, James had to look in the mirror and ask himself “Who am I? What made me, me?”. As he progressed into college at Georgia State, pursuing pharmacy, photography, marketing, and learning the “art of the finesse”, James’ quest of self discovery continued. Then in 5 minutes, his whole life would change once again. A last minute trip to OVO fest would soon turn into the next chapter of James’ career, and launch him through the wild journey of the music industry. But this was more than finding a career opportunity, this was finding a purpose. From tours with Drake, to managing Grammy nominated producers, and A&R at Universal Music Publishing, James is only now getting started. This is about working hard with integrity, and staying humble. This is about letting your purpose guide you. This is about connecting with people, and being grateful every step of the way. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is James Supreme. #MamaWeMadeItFOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM http://bit.ly/MamaWeMadeIt-IGhttp://bit.ly/Anoush-IGhttp://bit.ly/Joe-IGhttp://instagram.com/jamessupremeSUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCASThttp://bit.ly/MamaWeMadeItPodcastSUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL - http://bit.ly/MamaWeMadeIt-YT FACEBOOK - @mamawemadeitpodhttps://mamawemadeit.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Growing up among the cornfields and cow pastures of Central Ohio, Lizzy discovered music at an early age. She took the stage for the first time at age four, starring as Molly in the SummerStock production of "Annie". Lizzy soon changed her childhood dreams of Broadway, softball and cooking school when she wrote her first song, Close Your Eyes, in remembrance of the 9/11 tragedy at age eleven. She soon realized the impact music could have on people. Lizzy's parents realized this too and introduced her to her first true love, Marty (a sparkly new Martin DC-16). Lizzy began writing and performing her songs back in her hometown of Newark, but always had the dream of coming to Nashville. Many road trips, songwriting workshops and lessons later, Lizzy and her family moved to Music City two weeks after Lizzy's sixteenth birthday. Soon after, she met her first publishing company, signing her first deal just two years later. Lizzy formed a band (which you can see her perform with to this day),began dabbling in Pro Tools and picked up a few extra instruments along the way (ten to be exact). She plays 5-String Banjo, Irish Bouzouki, Bass, Mandolin and most recently, the Dobro. At twenty-one, Lizzy and her contractor family, built a fully equipped recording studio for her new love of recordingand engineering. Many of the songs you hear, Lizzy has recorded and produced herself. She now resides at Universal Music Publishing, where she enjoys working with a talented roster ofwriters and pluggers. In twenty fourteen, Lizzy had the incredible pleasure of writing and working with legendary Country artist, Jo Dee Messina. Their song "Love On A Maybe” holds a place as track number three on Jo Dee's latest record, ME. Finding it's way from Lizzy's Nashville studio to the silver screen," Borrowed Time”, a song Lizzy co-wrote, was heard worldwide in October in Nicholas Spark's movie, The Best of Me. The song was cut by Countryduo, Thompson Square and featured on The Best Of Me Soundtrack. Four years later, Lizzy became the proud new owner of a Audient 4816 recording console. She enjoys filming her Audient VLOG series that is posted monthly on Audient.com.Aside from music, Lizzy, loves animals (including her four kitties they rescued from an apple orchard, salt water aquarium and all it's inhabitants), knitting, baking, home DIY projects, being outdoors and spending time with her family. Lizzy believes she iswriting music for her listeners. She wants to be the bookmark in their lives, marking the moment when a song truly became part of their memories. Lizzy would love to meet you someday, soplease venture out to a show or find her online.
